Im having same issue i just bought shift shaft i know that looks bent and im replacing whole transmission im done fooling around with this 30+ year old transmission each part has wear so think about it each part has wear so when assembled imagine how much looseness and play is in there mine runs great and i can ride it but its hard to find neutral but i also hear a gearing sound when its running sounds like maybe shift forks are bent hitting something the clutch on mine is brand new but seems like i can't find sweet spot with adjustments sometimes I can but it doesn't last long then needs adjusting again i think the transmission is so out wack that its screw up everything god only knows but im tearing it apart once i have EVERYTHING i don't want to take it apart then have wait for parts and forget where I left off lol
Still no proper solution is given. The solution is that there is another screw or bolt on the opposite side of this gear shift drum. You need to tight both sides of the shift drum against each other simultaneously. If you tight one side at a time the shift fork will jam to that side. Also the shift lever that is below that detent arm and circular plate has differnet jaw for three speed and 4 speed. Also the adjustments have to be done in neutral
I tried turning the shifter to either top or bottom gear before doing this so it did lay in between and then tighten both just like he said. I dont know if my comment is clear enough but Im assuming someone who has seen it will have the idea... thanks for the vid and comment, very helpful. Thats another thing, spinning the gears while shifting them... like the person blow states.
Is that really the trick i have same issue currently im installing new clutch and drive gear i bought the kit but honestly don't think it is clutch i took clutch completely apart just lot grime but nothing that would make gears hard to change just like he is explaining my shift star looks new almost i expected lot more wear. Also have question which way is the shift star position in neutral? Thank you wondering if it's not placed correctly or cam lose. But your comment about those two bolts and shift drum made light come on that is totally awesome advice if its correct advice i will update my findings probably couple of weeks after parts arrive. Also i believe he has correct shift star because mine is definitely 4 speed and it has same star. His looks little odd in video because some of star is hiding behind shift linkage
I got it to work. The solution is not ideal. It does shift better when moving. I found the more I ride the more it worked. But I have to move the shifter up and down a bit to move from 1st to 2nd gear while moving. Only thing I could think of was the return spring was weak. I replaced it with a used one. Still had the same issue.

Yeah that doesn't work on ct70h maybe 3 speed or maybe im missing something

It could be bent shift shaft try taking it out if it doesn't come out easily it maybe the culprit but im not expert
Mine dosent go into 3rd, when I shift it just acts like it's in nutrural, do you know what could be wrong with it?

That is for the rear hand brake cable. I believe.
