Hi James -- I had success following your steps for hl1 and hl2, but step 9 of this process for Portal (installing the game to documents/gaming/portal) doesn't seem to be actually installing any files. The terminal says it was successful, but the Portal folder is still empty. Any ideas?
EDIT: It worked, now. I did it the way you did in the video, instead of just copy+pasting from your website post. Thanks again!

everything works fine until the building process. I get following message:

Build failed
-> task in 'engine' failed with exit status 1 (run with -v to display more information)

Is python a separate install? A prerequisite? Edit: nevermind I see where Python is installed. I can't get this to work today. The way configure fails. In the previous Git clone step it tells me some parts are checked out.
It’s not required to be a prerequisite but you could install it separately if you wanted to. It is needed at the step of configuring the build though.

I mean, this means that brew isn’t properly installed, so maybe run the install script agaon
Got this, and all other half lives working perfectly, even the flash light thing was dope, but there are some other 32 bit games that run on Mac but are 32, how can I apply the same method but tailored for other games. For example, Back to the future by Telltale games, its a very simple and light game, there should be a way to make it work no?

Yes but CS Source is very buggy for me atm, unplayable, so if I get that fixed I can definitely make a video on it

just delete the source engine folder in your home directory
hi! i'm running ventura on an intel based mac. the tutorial works perfectly up until i actually launch from steam; when i try to run portal from steam, the game won't open. any ideas as to how i could fix this?
yeah so this means that the tutorial isn’t working haha. this is what normally happens when you try to run portal. I’m not sure where you are going wrong given that everything else worked, maybe try building the game again though and giving it another shot. good luck!

Everything is done, but when the hl2_launcher runs, it just stops immediately and that's it.

Hey, I launched it once, then when I restarted my machine, I tried to run the steam again, launched Portal, and it said the game was playing yet no window ever came up.
Sorry mate, not sure what’s up with that, you might just want to reinstall Portal 2
I got a error during the configuring portal build step where it tells me to complete the login in config.log. How do I fix this?

I get this error "freetype2 isn't installed correctly. Make sure you installed proper development package for target architecture" and even if I freestyle is installed I get the same error. I have a Mac M1 chip with arm64 and I cannot use x86_64. Can you please help me? THANK YOU!

It's so close to working, I can feel it! The automator just doesn't want to run it, saying there is "no such file or directory". The website doesn't include instructions for this bit, and the way on there didnt work for me either!!
Make sure you are selecting the right directory
half0life 2 works the same just replace portal with hl2

portal 2 has a source engine modification, I have figured out how to run it, but it doesn’t run natively and has some graphical errors
