  • Ground made us make a Citation go around on short final. Spend the night in a hangar home, fly IFR in formation over Cuba across the "ocean" to the Cayman Islands, and then on to another Beech.

Hey Matt I enjoy your endeavors. I have a little tip I like to give you! I have noticed in your previous video when you checked the oil level, I noticed a lot of foam on the oil filler stick. What we do on our F33 every time we land we open the oil filler cap and wedge a sheet or two of a paper towel on the top of the oil filler. That prevents the accumulation of condensation. Our dipstick shows no foam ever. Just a little tip. Stay safe and healthy

      @@undinescurse
Actually and statistically for many modern aircraft, you are incorrect.
This issue is one of the main reasons that the 'Light Aircraft' movement began, and why it has literally become a phenomena: affordability for point to point transport, pleasure off runway flying (aka 'backcountry'), and a seriously affordable way to avoid flying the airlines.
Take a hard look at almost ANY of the Light Sport Aircraft with one or two seats, and you'll find that with 4 stroke engines, you can get 15mpg-30 miles per gallon fuel consumption, but going 85mph-120mph to your destination.
Given the ubquity of Uber/Lyft rides, which are also affordable (hence their popularity) even tarmac to tarmac flying, for shopping, visiting, weekend mini-vacations, are VERY affordable.
When you look at ground vehicle costs, which range on average $30-$60k, planes like the PSA Merlin, Titan Tornado series, Rans, Hummel, and a WIDE range of other 1 and 2 seat planes also fall within that category!
I live in Central WY. It's 285 miles, one way, to Billings, MT. Freeway speed limit is 80mph in WY, and most of MT, until you hit the out suburbs of Billings and it drops to 65mph.
Care to do the math for per mile fuel costs and travel time?
The aircaft I've noted are LSA/ELSA class, which means only a Sport Pilot's License is needed. Were a PPL available, then you have 4 seater LSA/ELSA aircraft available, which offer similar numbers on mpg and travel speeds, but carrying 4 people and luggage.
Given the number of aircraft that have a 'folding wing' option, a person can forget the high costs of hangars, and invest in a trailer. Tow the plane to the airport, unload, and go for your mini-vacation. Return, fold the wings, trailer the plan, and back home.
I'm not saying it's for everyone, but the reasons to NOT own an LSA/ELSA are becoming fewer and fewer.
Long range travel, such as the South Dakotan does on a regular basis, while not cheap, is STILL superior to airline travel, given that he can load 4 people and a CRAP LOAD of luggage, and thus, 4 people are splitting the fuel costs, on a Point to Point flight, rather than a Hub to Hub flight that MUST include corollary travel to the actual destination point (car rentals, fuel for it, insurance costs, etc.).
So.....I suggest you take the time to rethink the affordability of Personal Air Travel and the costs thereto pertaining.
Mind you, I'm not a fan of the South Dakotan's mindset; I consider him to be an arrogant elitist on a personal note, but I admire and respect his piloting skills: he is a superb pilot, which is why I'm subscribed to his channel, watch his videos, and do recommend others to subscribe and watch as well.
Cheers from the Oil Patch in Central WY

I guess if you had not asked they would have let you land in formation. If you might not like the answer, don´t ask! It´s going to be easier to apologize.
Great pictures flying with Baron Pilot, awesome. I did stuff like this years ago in two gliders, no go pros available at that time. The other guy, flying MY glider, suddenly stopped on the landing roll....the gear had collapsed, on a grass runway, thankfully. Fun times.

Way cool formation footage, Matt. Beautiful scenery. Looks like you had a pretty nice FO for the flight, too. You should stop by Montego. Keep 'em comin'.
