wolfman jack at the helm. LoL. It made me laugh..but his regular voice is way more precise, casually. i wonder why he does that. Real old mics attached to the throat to sound like that, no need for it anymore...like 60 years ago.
We were in Nashville around that time to. We were originally there just to visit family but then we found out the eclipse was going on so we got to see it. It was cool.
Hello Greetings from the west coast of Florida , USA . I've been to your beautiful Island several times decades ago . One time I was there I had lunch with The Chief of Police and his lovely wife . The Chiefs Aunt was working at the VA Hospital I was working at north of New York City . I had a nice time . After lunch the Chief sent an air-conditioned car to give me a private tour of the Island .
Hi Matt. Granted it's quite difficult to see what is really going on from a quick snapshot in a video. Although I'm looking at the light brown sludge build up inside your motor oil fill tube when you were checking the oil level in the opening of this video. That sludge build up could be the result of water being mixed in with your motor oil maybe through excessive condensation? I could be completely wrong, but I would hate myself for not alerting you to the possibility.
You are correct. It is something that stands out like a sore thumb at the beginning of the video. Quite likely a blocked breather due to the icy conditions. It is very bad that a pilot does not notice this, let alone before breaking in a new cylinder with a long flight ahead including an over water leg. Normally, if the breather was blocked it would be reasonable to fly after clearing it and checking the oil was not badly contaminated, as long as there are good options for a precautionary landing. However, he was about to break the cylinder in so the last thing you want is to be doing that with bad oil and in this case I would definitely want an oil change. In the end an iced up breather would resolve itslef as he flew somewhere warmer, plus the oil will soon be changed post break-in, but In the meantime he likely glazed the cylinder to some extent by breaking it in with contaminated oil. The bigger issue is the general lack of observation skills during preflight, and even if he isn't expected to know why the sludge is there, the lack of curiosity that would lead him to seek the advice of someone more knowledgeable.
I noticed that, too. I have seen it many times in rental airplanes in the winter in Duluth, MN, where I fly, but never knew what caused it. I have not seen it in my Cessna.
I’m doing my flight training at Nashville Flight Training which is literally right beside the Signature building, so that’s kinda cool! Awesome video man
Very nice trip summary, Matt. I can't wait for the next part - that's a trip I'd like to make myself one day in the Bonanza. Also nice to see Mr. Stratz there at the end. (Hi, Greg!)
So cool to see a familiar FBO on your channel! I have fond memories of Hangar 9 at Aberdeen, on the way back from Oshkosh 2019!!! The gentleman in charge there was the nicest man. I still remember his words, "Aviation has been good to me through the years". If I recall correctly, I think he used to fly up in Alaska. But I could be wrong. I wish I remembered his name. And we even got to meet the owner of the P-51 Sierra Sue! All during a short refueling stop.
Shame that you didn't do this trip earlier (before the rules changed) and get to land in Cuba. I flew my Dakota to Cuba in 2016... what a great experience... ours was the only aircraft on the ground at Cienfuegos.
Great video, incredible flight! Glad you had a great time, the Caymans are an absolutely amazing destination! Thank you for letting us ride along! All the best from the west coast of Florida USA!!!
KiaOra from New Zealand. Enjoy your vids team. You go to places we simply are not close too here downunder. Thanks for the teachings and entertainment. Kia Kaha
You may not have been high enough North of Atlanta. I had a similar issue the other day out of DNN. They couldn't hear me while I was around 3500 so I climbed up a bit. Interestingly, also with a GTN 750, but who knows.
I was a little late viewing this video. I live near McMinnville TN in Sparta. I fly out of KSRB/ next time your in this area stop by. They will have all the fuel you need. Great video Matt
On another flying channel, the pilot suggested that someone write a book about all the restaurants at the different executive airports and make suggestions for others in the area. You seem uniquely positioned to write such a tome.
McMinnville was the westernmost point that got to see the full eclipse. I live about 30 min from there and that’s where we went to see it too. I just found your channel so not sure if you have been here, but about 30 miles west is KTHA (my home airport) which is the home of the Beechcraft Heritage museum. You should check it out sometime.
Matt I’ve watched you do it in at least two videos. Please stop changing your tank on final. Make it a decent checklist item. Google bonanza fuel selector crashes. -V35B owner and pilot
How many hours per year are you flying? how many hours on plane TT, engine SMOH? How many oreos per hour does the pilot consume? Any weight and balance issues with the Bonanza? I heard that they had aft cg problems, are you carbing up to reduce that potential?
Stumbled upon this video today, didn’t realize Lochie was in this one. For those of you that didn’t get the chance to know him in person he was one of a kind. Unfortunately, he and his fiancé passed away a few months ago in a GA accident doing exactly what he loved. He and I had a lot of flying adventures together. I miss flying with him and miss talking aviation with him.
For some reason the novices think it's cool to endanger others with their lazy speech. I guess it makes them feel like they're part of a fraternity or something.
@@crazypeoplearoundtheworld304 or maybe its respect to get of the air, not sure if your a pilot but the comms can be like hell and if you are a pilot and one that has to say everything slow on the mic your an asshole
Love your flying adventures. As an old USAF C-130 pilot, envy your freedom of the skies. What I also envy...almost as much...is how much cookies, cakes, desserts, ice cream, etc. you eat while flying and on the ground without, it seems, not gaining an ounce. I gain 5 lbs watching every video. 😂 Fly safe bub.
I love Cayman. i mean, i do live here so.. i gotta love it! to prove i live hear the place you were sitting at in 0:22 looked like the westin on seven mile.
But thanks for the “free “ flight. You should fly to Germany 🇩🇪 and fly over the Neuschwanstein castle and other castles there. That’s a really pretty country. Hope you have a great 2020, Matt. See ya on the next flight 🛩.
Hey Matt love the channel, can't wait to join you in the friendly skies one day. Question: how do you afford this? The lifestyle alone but also the plane and your whole world trip. Would love to see a video on that! (If I missed it somehow please link me to it!) Cheers!
Hey Matt, hi! what about this thing of moving the yoke to the other side, even when you are flying alone (I saw that in other video of yours), is that safe? this kind of unilateral yoke on some Beechcraft always gave me a bad impression, I never undertood why they decided to use that (I never had any personal contact with Beechcrafts, only Pipers) and then for the first time I saw a pilot (you) moving it to the other side while flying and it didn't look safe, but all of this can be a missinformation/interpretation of mine. Could you comment about it? thanks dude, I found out your channel last week and I'm loving it. Cheers!
Eagerly following this series. We have been wanting to take our TR182 RG to the islands for a while now and Grand Cayman is on the list. Looking forward to part two to see how you were able to handle Cuba and the overflight permit stuff. This prompted me to read up on AOPA and where it may not be impossible it does seem rather difficult. Till part 2....

Cockpit discipline went out the window. This could be an example of a bold pilot; but not necessarily a bold, old pilot.
