I'm an ex Private pilot in my 60's, a current avionics L.A.M.E., love the new glass cockpits, but uncomfortable without old analogue backup ASI, VSI & altimeter & of course compass, stuff that doesn't need electrons. These Lads are a great inspiration to their peers :-)
I found your channel because I view aviation videos and YT put you up as a suggestion. Fantastic adventure. I'm pushing 79 years of age and I'm a former owner of a Cessna 210 (picked it up new at the factory in Wichita and flew her home to Boston).BTW, I wanted a Beech Bonanza but preferred the high, cantilevered wing with an unobstructed view from the cockpit of the C-210. The three of you are interesting: Louie eats fruits and nuts, JD eats chips and drinks water and Matt eats candy and cookies and drinks Coke. I am amazed by your lack of general knowledge of the places you are visiting. I would have thought that you guys would have Googled each country and place on your itinerary BEFORE your trip. Matt's reference to Dunkirk was the movie...you should think about the thousands of young men (your age) who died on those beaches to give you the freedom to do what you are doing. My late uncle flew across the English Channel many times as a US Army Air Force (yes, the Air Force was originally a part of the Army before becoming its own branch of the military). He became the youngest Capitan in the Army Air Force simply because all of the other pilots were being killed in battle. As a co-pilot, he returned to base in England with his Capitan dead in his seat. He came home with "battle fatigue" (now called PTSD). I really like the avionics on your 210. I learned to navigate with VOR and dead reckoning. When you briefly lost your avionics, my first thought was can they figure out where they are without the avionics? I envy you three young men and have enjoyed your adventure very much. I realize your trip is long over but I wish you well on your future adventures.

When I was in the US Air Force I was stationed @ Zweibrucken Air Base , Germany the fighter jets were stored in the concrete buildings covered with grass to camouflage them so the jets couldn't be seen from the air. Before the US took over the base in ' 69 it had been built by the Canadian Air Force . My base was closed in the mid 90's & the buildings the jets were stored in most of them are still standing. Most of the buildings that were on the base have been torn down. The runways still exist.
Matt, you're production quality is really amazing and I'm a hyper critical person. I love the mix of listening to the radio, watching the flight dynamics, and seeing a peek of each destination as a traveler. You've really nailed the right balance and much respect for figuring out that extremely elusive formula. All the best.
Thanx Mr .Guthmiller for sharing your experience and flying from Boston to Austria helping Matt as the First Officer really enjoyed watching your part of the journey, it is very descriptive for a aviation enthusiast

I've been binge watching this whole series and I absolutely love it! I do have an issue with pulling up that landing gear while there's still usable runway left in front of you. Engine trouble on takeoff would make things quite interesting with that gear already up. ;-)
Easily one of the best aviation channels in the UA-cam community. Thank you so much, as a pilot I really loved and watched the videos till the end. I think that we all have the "shiny jet syndrome" but definitely nothing beats flying on a small aircraft. Congrats!

Thanks so much for this epic video of you with JP and Louie , crossing the Atlantic in a small plane. I have been glued to my iPad most of the afternoon watching this compelling report. I had anxiety for most of the flight especially when you donned immersion suits and am so glad you didn’t really need them. You landed at Shoreham-by-Sea airport where my mother lives! Yowza. The whole trip was accompanied by really cool food including haggis. Again, thank you very much for this saga. I have enjoyed every minute of it. Cheers, Colin.
Matt, I don't normally watch videos like this as a rule. eg not the whole trip. However, your video was so good and enjoyable I have watched it all. Thanks. Great work, great flying.

Matt, It would be great if you guys could plan a trip to Stans Switzerland and tour the Pilatus factory. I'm sure that many of your UA-cam fans would agree..... Thanks for another great video.
I hiked through Stans several times and didn’t even notice that that’s where the Pilatus factory was. The round trip hike from Stans to Pilatus Kulm and back (of course on foot the whole way) was really worth it - so many good memories. Went by the lake on the way to Pilatus and on the way back to Stans climbed over the pass with Stanserhorn to our left. Unbelievable views all along the way.

I have a question and a suggestion. The question; how do you eat so much and stay so slim ? My suggestion; fly into the airport in BROMONT, QUEBEC, CANADA and try the restaurant ( called Bistro M). Absolutely top notch BUT not open every day so call ahead. This is about 40 miles due east of Montreal. Wrong - those are bunkers for munition storage during the war. Never seen a hangar with grass on top in my 20 years in the USAF.

The DA62 IS cool and amazing, it's just not seven figures cool and amazing.
that's my response to most GA airplanes. They're way to expensive for what they are, it amazes me anyone buys them at all.
Ya that thing is like around $1 million I believe. I'd rather buy something else for that.
It’s been a while since I looked at the performance numbers, but doesn’t it have the same engines as the DA-42, which means it isn’t going to get you anywhere very fast. The style and accommodations are nice, really like the FADEC and Jet A is cheaper, but it needs more power and if it had beta, that would be awesome.

what an adventure matt.... awesome
Very cool guys.
Ferry across an ocean in a 210, a flight in a DA62, a tour of Diamond, a tour around Austria.....why yes I would like to Subscribe!
The lady that brought ur food was really cute. And what a great series. Like to more.
Love your videos, Bonanza is an awesome single engine and I would fly anywhere with you, feeling safe and confident. Cheers and happy flying.
Really awesome series. Just discovered your channel yesterday and I got hooked right from the beginning. Well done!
As always, great job Matt!
Hi Matt, I found the last episodes now and as I am Austrian having friends in Boston as well I was impressed by your journey and Thank you for sharing it. I am not a PPL pilot. But a S+MV captain and examiner.
Matt, just saw your comment at the start of this video about the grass coverd hangers. Baden Baden was Canadian Forces Base 4 wing, I lived there in the 60’s
I enjoyed this trip and its a very beautiful country
"Are you interested in further climb in order to gain some speed.... hahaha"
Now, that, was such a good example of typical German humor.
JP is a hell off a good pilot
Very enjoyable to watch.
Makes me want to be young again. Major Kudos!!!
