I was sailing with my friends (We already knew how powerful are Deathsquitoes) and just one was enough to put all the crew in panic mode. I was the only one with a shield so I had to ran all over the boat in order to protect my friends from it Luckly I did my job correctly so nobody died and we managed to escape
Lol my boat got stuck in a small wedge between land and a mini island. I managed to block and kill the Death Squito(silver shield was a gift from my brother before I started my single player world) but then got ganged on by 3 Lox.
Honestly my first experience with the plains was wondering what the giant brown things were. I thought they were friendly because while they followed me for a little bit they didn't actually attack me until I ran right next to them.
Honestly the plains is one of the most beautiful and peaceful looking biomes in the game- apart from the fact that I almost crap my pants every-time I go into it
Yeah that’s kind of the point, for what it’s worth it can be too quiet. I mean this is the endgame area, most of the time there is an enemy infestation, dangers at every corner, etc. Not here, which is why every encounter feels more impactful.
I was about bronze age in Valheim and i'm playing completely blind, went into the plains, thought it would be a nice adventure in this awesome new friendly biome! I never went back. This game is so good.
I discovered plains from afar my first time! It was a little dumb in my opinion how it happened. I hadn't found any plains on the islands I'd been to as I'd stayed within the spawn radius for mountains and below. So one day I set sail. I said "I'm gonna head east, and see what we find!" the very next island I landed on, I only stopped at, because I saw this giant hand...... poking up from the ground. Now this was mid march last year, we had NO information online for the game yet, nobody had made it that far and recorded everything yet, but I instantly realized that was a boss summoning platform. I snuck my way to shore right nearby the platform (the island was rather small, cut off by the ocean from the rest of its mainland) and checked out the summoning altar. As I'm sitting there I see a Deathsquito coming at me, I ready my shield and the first hit on my shield recoiled me and took half my health, I grabbed my bow, shot it on its next attack pass, and DIPPED. I went back to the start where the forsaken shrine is, and checked the stones, to see Yagluth's stone, and I KNEW that's who's altar I'd found, and that it would be the last biome I venture to. Still remember that moment, scary as all get out, but I loved every second of it.
Had a similar experience, was sailing and stumbled upon Plains, looked peaceful so I embarked. Just to be greeted by the black sludge that sprayed me with poison and tar, killing me almost instantly. It was a torture grinding materials for 2nd Karve to go and pick up my remains.
100 hours in and just started exploring my first plains. Love the design choice to make it a serene-looking biome with relaxing music, but is teeming with some of the most dangerous mobs out there. That being said, the plains I found was right beside a swamp - after realizing the plains for what it truly is, the swamp suddenly felt like a safer place XD
@@sayalouveblanche8975 ?? What? I am referencing the fact that in the older version of the game you were unable to play as a women therefore making anyone who played a man. I ain’t being sexist.
One of my favorite moments in the game was being chased by a stack of draugr including a two-star Archer... And with an abomination in tow.... I lured them into a nearby plains biome and watching them proceed to fight with the goblins there. I just hung back and was able to get all kinds of free resources. Moments like that make the game really fun.
Friends and I built our final base in the plains, with a deep moat and very thick walls, on the coast. I loved to sit inside the walls and listen to this. Emphasis on inside the walls. The mistake we made, since we didn't know, is we also built said base RIGHT next to the Yagluth shrine lmao. That was a bad idea.
@@Eltrotraw Not very much lol. It was so sad, we had spent a solid 4-5 real days gathering materials and building. But, the game was over at that point, so it wasn't as s sad as it could have been if we had more stuff to do still
Yeah, it’s calm but it feels desolate. Not really desolate but the same kind of feeling that a desert village gives. It’s there but it’s lonely, the plains feel like that, but instead of it being so lonely it’s deadly, it’s just straight up deadly. Though the fulling infested villages make this biome feel like something great used to be there…
My first experience with the plains was incredible and horrible. After finally escaping from the swamp and landing in a black forest me and my friends set camp at a generated stone tower. Little did we know a tiny plains generated nearby. So our first deathsquito encounter happened there whole we all thought we were safe. We survived with low health and a death or two. After getting murdered by fullings that spawned shortly after we packed up and moved to a new base that ended up being our stronghold til the end of the game.
Minor SPOILERS . . . . . Recently I went to the Plains using the full force of the Swamp. Leading 2 Abominations and a horde of Draugur into a Fulling base. My whole army was demolished in mere seconds by a Fulling Mage so I understand that, maybe, Im not ready yet (I haven't killed Moder, the Mountain's boss)
I currently live in the Meadows and there's a Plains nearby.. every time I'm trying to save up on food and just hunt deer, I suddenly hear a buzz and get obliterated.. I don't even get time to grow frustrated or angry.. the sadness simply sets in.
Very first time I stepped onto the Plains, I remembered my buddy's words, "Don't step on the fucking plains." For 2 seconds I hesitated too long, and then got killed two-shot by a deathsquito that followed me into the black forest. I only had bronze armor at the time.
"wow, I really don't see what the big deal was with everyone complaining about the deathsquitos. They die in one hit" *gets killed by fuling beserker two hours deep into plains* (me running around with no armor) "ah crap crap crap crap (one hit by deathsquito) "DAMNIT! DUDE i CAN'T GET TO MY SHIT!" Friend: "Same here man, I just died, back at base getting rest bonus" The struggle is real in the plains.
This soundtrack reminds me of the soundtrack in Voyage Century . Going through Seville's port was indeed beautiful. Shame that game didn't age very well .
i went into the game knowing little, only thing about the plains being that if you get too close, its enemies can still get you, even if you’re sailing. cut to the first time i set out on a boat, and turning DEATHLY afraid when “THE PLAINS” suddenly appears across the screen (a tiny sliver of it on the code of the world, but not actually any plains). after getting scared and wanting still to find a path to the “the elder” marker, i sailed on as the weather turned to foggy. the minimap came up with plains yet again, but not being able to see i had to steer blind. it was then that i encountered my first serpent, rising out of the water, and immediately i assume THIS is what my brother was talking about, THIS was the deadly plains enemy that would get you if you sailed too close. i had to get up from my computer i was so scared… when i got back though it was no big deal oc, it chomped, i outpaced it and survived lmao. but god!! the fear of the unknown is a powerful thing. there’s truly nothing like going into a game blind..
You're in the black forest running from a horde of enemies. You see trees what looks the same as trees in the meadows...suddenly you are dead. Cause of death: mosquito bite. You are very careful next time you see trees that look like the meadow's trees...

Oh yes man.. horrifying and it fits to the music man
I have never known terror before meeting a Deathsquito
This is so true
If you didn’t sail to the plains by mistake and instantly be killed my a desthsquito then you’re doing it wrong
Rip my body with full bronze. I accidentally ran aground and the deathsquitos showed me some famed plains hospitality
