While part of that is just Disney cannon being stupid, Lightsabers deal significantly more damage than blaster bolts, actively cooking the body for as long as the blades are inside

Math checks out. Pre-Anakin: Thousands of Jedi, a few Sith. Post-Vader: 1 half-trained Jedi who also thinks its cool to cut people's limbs off, rage around with his lightsaber when angry, and tamper with people's minds using the Force. Pretty balanced now.

The best choice would have still been Qui Gon had he beaten or survived Maul. But Obi Wan I prefer over any of the others.

I mean, it really is. Anakin was denied the help he really needed, that forced him to turn to Palpatine as his confidant, which in turn allowed Palpatine to manipulate him emotionally.

@@wildfire9280 True but remember he had visions of his mother being tortured and when he finally acted it was too late. He doesn't want to make the same mistake. The Jedi said let her die and Palpatine said he could save her. True in the end he caused her death.

@@Ohm_Kazhbu They did not, not even metaphorically. If Anakin’s vision was accurate, which it ended up being because of unrelated events to Padme’s health, he would need to accept the outcome rather than try changing it at any cost.
Trying to prevent visions like that typically ends in tragedy from a historical storytelling perspective and in the Star Wars universe (Legends has an example of this).
Obi Wan: Master Qui-Gon, we've gone over this before. If I used the force to run past the laser doors then I'd have fallen into the pit at the end of them.

@@vojtechlansky86 Maul was obviously faster than Qui Gon and that means the Sith would've catched up to him in any way, it was either fight him in the place or wait for an apprentice who by that point he didn't even know if he was alive
@@megamanxz-fb7oz im pretty sure Qui gon knew about Obi-Wan cuz he was few metres behind him xD turn head back would be enough And also He can sence him trough force. And maul can be fast as he want but the wall blocking him from reaching Qui-Gon was released as the last.. if Obi run forward and Qui gon backward they could very easily united again to fight 2v1 as before.

Well there is a lot to be said for the dark side fueled by hatred being able to keep you going in Star Wars lore even beyond actual death. It's considered extremely unnatural and very corruptive but it isn't unusual.
I suppose Mauls thirst for vengeance saved him, whilst Qui-Gon sorta just accepted his fate. I know it sounds silly, but a strong will to survive fueled by hatred does wonders, even (to a degree) in the real world

Maybe it wasn't a good idea to ask a Padawan who hasn't completed his training yet and has no experience teaching other Force users to train a child he doesn't like and doesn't want to train.
Except Qui Gonn explicitly stated that Obi-wan was ready for the Knight trials, and how a Jedi Knight gains Mastery is by raising a Padawan to Knighthood themselves. Obi-wan himself says he is ready for the trials, basically saying he was ready to train this youngling he helped save.

@@damianjang3766 , Obi-Wan should have died in the Prequel and OG Trilogy instead of Quin Gon Jin because Obi-Wan was only written perfectly with perfect acting skills in the 2D Clone Wars, and Ben Skywalker along with Qui Gon are objectively better Jedi Masters than Yoda and Obi-Wan.

Okay but imagine a AU where force ghost Qui Gon comes to Anakin in that moment blocking the saber to reveal to him the light side of the force made him an eternal being and that he can teach Anakin what he so desperately wants, a way to save his wife and children. It would completely fuck up order 66 and be interesting to see how far Palatine can make it before Yoda, who wouldn’t be weakened by the slaughter of his order got to him. Ruins any shot of the OT from happening as far as I can see

@@fusiontoa18 That goes back to his duty as a Jedi, but yeah if he acted sooner he could have saved her. I also suspect Palpatine knew Shimi was in trouble or rather knew Anakin felt something was up, but said nothing to made sure he started down the path of the Dark Side.
It would have been nice in Ep2 where we got a scene of Palpatine just sitting in his office and suddenly smiling when he felt Anakin's pain.
@@Deuteromis 1. The Jedi duties were overly dogmatic. It's one of the main themes of both the OT and prequels.
In both trilogies the Jedi preaching detachment from loved ones resulted in the unnecessary loss of Anakin's mother and would've resulted in the destruction of Luke's father and fall of the rebellion.
This is also explored in the Clone Wars cartoon where Luminara was perfectly willing to accept the death of her padawan long before she was actually dead, whilst Anakin's care his padawan saved both of them.
2. Most people would be resistant to this dogma, which is why the Jedi practically kidnap children and indoctrinate them from a very young age. Remember that 10 years old was considered "too old" by them, even for the most powerful force user known.
Anakin and Luke were too old for this indoctrination to take effect fully. Anakin was unable to process his attachments in a healthy way as he was still in a life long cult, whereas Luke was able to have a more healthy outlook on life and loss.
Not letting loss consume you is wise. Not having anything to lose means you haven't lived.

And since force ghost Qui-Gon, Obi-wan, the Jedi Council(who had over 10,000 already trained jedi knights with little to no time conflicts before the Clone Wars & 10 years worth of opportunity from the start of Anakin's Jedi training) or Padme didn't follow-up with saving Shmi Skywalker right away, the Chosen One Anakin Skywalker took his sweet time bringing balance.
I love that I was entranced by an awkward 90s ad. The Internet has come around in a full circle, it seems.
Qui-Gon also was very in tune with the force so part of him dying was him understanding this must be the will of the force. He understood that this is was needs to happen and there are reasons otherwise he would have stayed alive. But when dying probably understood that his Jedi brothers needed to die as they corrupted the force just as much as the Sith. They just took different routes to achieve it.
It's not qui gon being too fragile, it's everyone else being too hard to kill

I just realised that Qui-Gon must've felt like a ghost in an galactic scale among us game. Watching the imposter (Palpatine) murder and gaslight other crewmates. Seeing the smart guy (Yoda and Windu) and his friends (Anakin and Obi-wan) fall for it. While screaming in their faces hoping they can understand him

I think that may be the first ad I've actually willingly watched.
This was the first video I ever saw on your channel and was great. The animation reminds of the 80's animation style. Qui-Gon looks kind of creepy during the part where Anakin kills the younglings. Qui-Gon can't believe his eyes and realizes that he failed both his former apprentice and Anakin lol. Qui-Gon annoying Obi-Wan, by bringing up the Darth Maul memory was funny. I thought that Qui-Gon was going see Obi-Wan talking to Count Dooku, Anakin killing Count Dooku or Anakin talking to Palpatine when he reveals that he's a Sith Lord. Great video, keep up the good work.

In the third movie Anakim clearly wanted to leave the jedi and stop being a jedi, he was feeling so oppressed by the jedi that he felt that the only way to leave them was to kill all of them.

I dunno, I like that Starwars logic has basically been all about making it up as they go along, it's also very in character for him to opt to become a ghost rather than what Maul went through, not very in character for him to just poof entirely though, Starwars prequels but Qui Gon hangs out after dying to help beyond the grave would be a neat fan project thing.
