@@eugenetswong I think Palpatine may have been talking to Ben using Vaders voice to perhaps make him think that Luke killed him rather then Vader turning to save him. The Luke incident could have also lead Ben to believe Luke was lying about turning Vader.
Really? It immediately came to my mind. Before Vader Anakin was known as not only one of the most powerful Jedi, but one of the most kind and connected to the people. He was a legendary hero during the Clone Wars earning the respect, admiration, and friendship of those around him. After his turn to the Dark Side, hardly anyone connected that Vader and Anakin were the same people. Especially with most the order dead and no one seeing his face (which was burnt). Even then, everyone in question referred to Vader as a different person. Its repeatedly said, by Vader himself, that Darth Vader killed Anakin Skywalker who was too weak and naive. Repeatedly suggesting that Vader was another persona entirely in Anakin that manifested due to the severe trauma and stress of his actions in episode 3. And when Anakin’s old friends mentioned him and Vader, they wouldn’t dare tarnish Anakin’s legacy or character and would continue to refer to Vader as someone separate and hide or gloss over Anakin’s turn to the darkside. And then there’s the redemption in the original trilogy (which is also where Anakin first started to resurface upon learning his and Padme’s children were alive). Like even ignoring the redemption though, I don’t even understand how Kylo Ren got this propaganda story. Like if Luke DIDN’T talk about his father as both a role model and a warning to all his students, then the only way Kylo learned was the first order and Snoke sneaking him the information (someone) which could then immediately be refuted by literally anyone else. And I don’t suspect the rebellion made it public that Luke’s dad was Vader and went from good to evil to good (or actually it would make sense if they did considering Vader saved the day at the expense of his own life (there’s not much controversial when the contriversial subject is dead anyway)).

Thanks for another well-done-worth-rewatching video, especially with the context of Anakin asking if Luke told Ben about his father's return of the Jedi😁 it is weird Ben Solo wasn't told by his mother, father, or Jedi master about the tragedy and redemption of Dart Vader😏
I've had a dream of this exact conversation in place of the Han scene from episode 9. Not only would a force ghost have made more sense in the logic of the Star Wars universe than a hallucination, but it would have been more powerful for Ben to learn that Darth Vader turned to the light and died a jedi.
Great sketch. Honestly, I assume that Luke *did* tell Kylo about Anakin/Darth Vader's redemption. But being the 30 year old teenager that he is, Kylo was just like, "No, that's dumb. The dark side is cool, why would anyone turn away from it? You must be misremembering what happened". Because that's completely in character for him. I also just assumed that after showing up at the end of the original trilogy to say, "I'm good now, thanks!" Anakin assumed Luke would have things under control and peaced out up to heaven to go be with his dead wife or something. But this, this was still very satisfying.
In the end it was actually love that saved Anakin from the Dark Side and redeemed him, his love for his son and Padme. And Luke naming his son Ben in the old canon makes much more sense being honest
Fun fact: canonwise, Kylo does know about Anakin's redemption, but Snoke frames it not as an act of redemption but a moment of weakness that resulted in Vader's death. That's why Kylo prays to Vader specifically and not Anakin, because he believes that Vader is who his grandfather truly was. But we couldnt get this exchange in the movies because that would've been too interesting
That isn't all. Kylo ren sure can be like nah mistake but nope, he will completely collapse (sorry Kylo ren but your evil gotta collapse when it harms others without consent true consent bro.) When 1:17 Helmet comes up. Nah. Kylo ain't gonna stay under the grasp of (if true) changed the story of pre-existing movies Disney's hand and will break free!!!! Or something. If it's good or/and better or/..and.... something.....................
In the TFA novelisation during the giant hologram scene, Snoke talks to Kylo about Vader turning back to the light. Kylo knows perfectly well what happened, Snoke views it as *“A momentary lapse of judgment in an otherwise exemplary life.”* they both know that Vader turned back but Snoke has got it into Kylo’s head that it was a moment of weakness and the biggest mistake Vader ever made, that’s why Kylo kills Han later on in the movie because of that conversation he has with Snoke. It’s the same scene where Kylo tells Snoke *“I will not be seduced”* and Snoke replies with *”We shall see…we shall see.”* but just extended, the movie only shows the end of that conversation and cuts out all the talk about Vader, they really should’ve just kept it all in the movie.
@@mpnuorva It was originally in the script but all of it got cut out to save time, the dialogue is as old as the movie itself. Look up *“Snoke instructs Kylo Ren (Extended)”* on UA-cam, the entire conversation they have is in that video, it’s great. I really wish they kept it all in the movie but I guess a prolonged scene of Kylo and Snoke talking wasn’t something they thought Star Wars fans would want to see at the time, but I personally would’ve loved it. Snoke says parts of it in the original teaser trailer for TFA, which means they filmed the whole conversation with Andy Serkis (Snoke). In the trailer when Snoke says *“The dark side…and the light.”* that’s straight from their conversation about Vader, but it’s nowhere to be found in the movie itself, it was 100% in the script.
It wouldn't of saved the sequel trilogy, they still would of sucked, should of followed the throne trilogy books like all star wars fans wanted in the first place.
If they had left this part in the movie the conversation with Snoke , and then added this scene after he ask his grandfather for advice and Anakin telling him the real truth would have been epic and could have taken the series in a whole different direction , that we would have never seen in the Star Wars story. But also in the theme of when obi-won shows up to help Luke in his most desperate times of conflict.
I always thought the reason Anakin looks young as a ghost, is because as a force ghost you appear in a way that the living can recognize you. That's why Obi and Yoda came back like that, but Anakin wouldn't want Luke's image of him to be the burned disgraced version but rather him in his prime. I just think that's what he would like his son to see him as, I always found it cute
@@jairusjackson7799 An in universe reason could be that you see the person as you remember them. Luke sees Obi and Yoda as old masters as that's what he knew them as. He sees Anakins younger self because he only knew Anakin as this great and noble Jedi who was Obi-Wan's best friend so he sees that version of Anakin That's how I've always chosen to rationalise it anyway
Anakin: But I turned to the light side, there’s just this disconnect here idk where that- Kylo: He tried to kill me in my sleep! Anakin: Who? Kylo: Luke! As soon as he sensed the evil in me he tried to kill me immediately! Anakin: That doesn’t sound like my son at all! You’re dealing with an imposter!
"I want to finish what you started." "I think the only thing I left unfinished was my padawan's training, and Ahsoka would clean your clock, so that's not gonna work."
"I switched back to the light side, did no one ever tell you that?" No, it's almost as if a hack took over the story and couldn't think of any other compelling motivations aside from rehashing previously tied up story threads.
Supposedly they had plans to have Anakin do just this, but the scene would have played out with Kylo believing the Force was lying to him & that this wasn't really Vader he was speaking to. I think it got cut because Hayden wasn't available.
I love that scene in ep7 where Han calls him out on this like a parent tired of humouring his kid's goth phase. "Take off that mask, you don't need it!"
I thought at the end when he was like there’s this girl that he was asking for dating advice and I thought Anakin was going to say tell her you don’t like sand that would be funny
I didnt like the show, but i did really like that scene where he started to embrace his anger and both his AND vader's voice said "You lack conviction." It was such a cool, canon vader thing to say. And who says sith cant be force ghosts too? So nkthing wrong there imo
Literally, the movie's name is "Return of the Jedi" because Anakin returns to being a Jedi, and for decades we only had the real, original version of the movie where force-ghost Anakin is the old dude who'd just died...as a redeemed Jedi. So no.
I love how Kyle wearing a helmet to “look cool like Vader” is basically like using a wheelchair, or cane, or something when you don’t need it, just to “look cool like that disabled guy.” xD
This unironically shows up the biggest flaw in the sequels. After setting up how obsessed Ben was with Vader, WHY DID HE NEVER GET TO TALK TO ANAKIN? Makes too much sense I suppose.

Anakin -- "Oh, an interrogation? That might--actually, wait, never mind. Can't tell in those situations. Keep your wits about you and continue to look for signs."
@@BrockLee3 What kills me is the leaps and bounds Anakin’s flirting did when he was an adult in Clone Wars.
C. Can't tell
Anakin: Ask your dad.
Kylo: Uhhhh Yeeeaaah, that’s not really an option right now sooooooooo…..
I love how Anakin genuinely seems confused in this
Anakin being surprised by Kylo and Rey's "see through the force" as he was by Rey's healing power are legit the best things in these videos
This is way better than anything from the new trilogy!
True !
Agree, parodies of that trilogy are much much more enjoyable than the films.
"There it is... So strange, and so sad"
A perfect description of the new trilogy.
i almost spit my drink out when anakin said "ok.... bye"
When my grandniece is more weird and game addicted than me and I have to retreat to figure out a way to save her.
That is an amazing impression of Anakin. Sounds just like Haden Christiansen
The way Kylo says, "Why did you wear your helmeT?" got me, I don't know why.
so Disney can sell toys, duh
I know! Me too 😂 he sounded just like Adam Driver
"Supreme leader senses iT"
He actually totally nails Anakin's accent. The soft spoken and somewhat disjointed or staccato. Good job.
The Jedi Order were peacekeepers but they were brought down by their hubris.
The Jedi ghosts are more powerful but barely lift a finger to help anyone. All those slaughters and genocides could've been prevented. Ghost Obi Wan could've gone up to Luke and stop him from trying to kill Ben. Ghost Qui Gon and Yoda could go to Exegol and troll Palpatine by making his cloning experiments backfiring.
The biggest feats performed by Jedi Ghosts were in physical places that had strong connections to The Force. It seems that in any other place they are as useful as a hologram.
@@Adrian-dl9nb Typical ghosts. In the meantime Siths are able to imbue objects with their hatred and hitch hike rides all over the galaxy
Wait...what about when all the ghost Jedi who smite Palpatine through Rey in Exegol?
no because remember, no one can get to exegol through this magical cloud! one that you could definitely not just go slow and be cautious through!
I think they tried to explain it saiyng that it takes much power in the force to recall every fragment of conscience from the force to return as ghost, then it is not an ability you can use anytime you want, but an good explanation comes before not after the history is set
@@rhettbaldwin2417 Or you can just go around it
"I don't wanna go back they're mean to me"
^^^^^ I can actually see Disney writing something like that as "Justification" for someone being on the Dark Side

Hey that's the reason why Vader didn't want to live after killing the Emperor.
Kylo Ren is 30 years old, and didn't know that his grandpa turned to the light side at the end. SAD.
If he did, the plot would have been ruined.
I would watch this version of the sequels than what we've got
I don’t want to go back, they’re mean to me! 😂
Anakin knocking some sense into kylo.. 👍👍👍👍
1:04 is such a fantastic face and honestly it's deserves more recognition.
I like how the Jedi just never share critical information like that. Its no wonder there is an eternal struggle between the Sith and the Jedi.
No, they don't share it because it's not what the plot calls for.
This right here... this, now this is a masterpiece.
Ben, you're not my successor, Ray holds the younglings slicer 9000
I like how Anakin refers to the majority of his life as "Oh the Empire stuff"
This video gave kylo so much incel energy. Very accurate to his character
Yeah i felt that too
You should see his snl where he is an undercover boss
“…and I want to kill her.”
Which is sad, because in episode seven I thought Kylo could be incredibly cool, but as the episodes went on he was just a crybaby.
@@MaoZedong49 Episode 7 had so much potential but the way they portrayed Kylo basically ruined the series. He never won a single fight. C'mon, you're the big bad. What's the point if you're not dangerous.
That awkward, “okay... bye...” at the end is gold.
For the love of Alderaan, _DONT_ ask your dad about it
Han, shortly after meeting Leia: "I don't know if I want to kill her or I'm beginning to like her"
Chewie: *groans*
“I reverted back to 22” that one got me 😂
"I don't want to go back they're mean to me"
the entire motivation for the sequels.
You're forgetting the fact that the plot calls for Kylo to be evil.
Turning on English Subtitles:
"I'm Mannequin Skywalker"
you got Anakins voice and facial expressions spot on and given how awkward both characters are this could be a cannon conversation lol
*canon
He also thought like was jealous of his power, like Luke projected himself across the galaxy. You ain't got nothing on Luke 😂
1:49 "Why did you wear your helmeTTTT?" These impersonations are really good
"You can see eachother through the force? Sorry, this is all new for me" was pure genius
I love the way they sound. So casual and reasonable and whatever.
finally underscoring how kylo was basically the wb teen drama version of darth vader
So refreshing to see a low energy honest dialogue that makes sense!
Thumbnail: Sequel hater vs Prequel lover
Sequel lover and prequel lover here.
The two tend to be the same person
This conversation has been going through my head in various forms since seeing TFA. I can’t believe nobody working on the films thought of this.
They might have thought of it but putting it into action is another thing. Seems to have taken some time to get Hayden back into acting again
If this happened, the plot would have been ruined, jackass.
"No I don't think that's it." "It's not that either." are such Anakin lines, especially with that tone of voice. Killed me.
When he asked for relationship advice I thought Anakin was going to say talk about sand
This is better writing than the entire sequel trilogy
I love how casual the tone of these skits are while dissing the disney trilogy
If it's good or/and better or/..and.... something.....................
this channel is so godly fun and these star wars videos are hilarious
Yep this is better writing then the actual movie wow the plotholes has spoken
Kylo forgot to watch the other movies didn't he.
Was that in the movie script though, or is it the novellization author trying to rationalize the situation they were handed?
Someone said it, thank you!
Kylo: show me, grandfather.
Anakin: Ben that’s quite enough or I’ll levitate to get the high ground on you.
Some GREAT points were made!
George Lucas changed the way the original rotj and then he became a young man
@@herbosmoker848 I know that's the technical reason, but I was thinking along the lines of an in-universe reason, or a story reason
@@jairusjackson7799 An in universe reason could be that you see the person as you remember them.
Luke sees Obi and Yoda as old masters as that's what he knew them as. He sees Anakins younger self because he only knew Anakin as this great and noble Jedi who was Obi-Wan's best friend so he sees that version of Anakin
That's how I've always chosen to rationalise it anyway
@@DillsyYourDaddy67 I like the sound of that actually, I might make that my head cannon
It annoys the fuck out of me that Lucas changed it.
Anakin: But I turned to the light side, there’s just this disconnect here idk where that-
Kylo: He tried to kill me in my sleep!
Anakin: Who?
Kylo: Luke! As soon as he sensed the evil in me he tried to kill me immediately!
Anakin: That doesn’t sound like my son at all! You’re dealing with an imposter!
"I want to finish what you started."
"I think the only thing I left unfinished was my padawan's training, and Ahsoka would clean your clock, so that's not gonna work."
Your subtle impressions are spot on and hilarious
"You see each other through the Force? That's new to me, but go on." That's great. Akin to the older generation learning about internet dating lol.
More! More! MORE!
More content like this please, Matthew.
Ben: What should I do?
Anakin: Tell her how much you don't like sand, it worked for me.
Luke seeing his father turn to the light side was the biggest moment in his life. He definitely told Kylo about it.
Watching these is like therapy.
I feel like the people who made the sequels didn't even watch star wars
Out of all the flaws, this was something that was massively overlooked xD
This was my immediate thought back when TFA came out. Kylo's entire arc makes literally no sense.
"I switched back to the light side, did no one ever tell you that?"
No, it's almost as if a hack took over the story and couldn't think of any other compelling motivations aside from rehashing previously tied up story threads.
Supposedly they had plans to have Anakin do just this, but the scene would have played out with Kylo believing the Force was lying to him & that this wasn't really Vader he was speaking to. I think it got cut because Hayden wasn't available.
Anakin: What a crybaby
What a great video for my Saturday morning👌 thanks again Mr. Matthew
I can't comprehend how many childhoods were rethought because of this. I love it.
This is what I always wondered. Why did Anakin not go " hey this is not what I want anymore stop"
"after I turned to the light again.. I... reverted back to 22, im not sure how that works, the force is weird.." had been SOBBING
I am so annoyed by how good the writing in this UA-cam video is compared to the actual movies. Awesome job!
kylo's juvenile, kind of impotent rage was always what made his character interesting. Like this guy faced one trauma and said fuck it, evil time.
i love how anakin is surprised by all this but still has the face of eh
Matthew McClesky - giving us the Star Wars content we need in these dark times.
Anakin’s voice is more accurate to the films than TCW was. Lol.
Same with Obi wan.
Clone wars voice is far superior though so I feel like it can stay the way it is.
Absolutely
@@jasonutty52 Superior? Idk bruh, Movie cannon>TCW Cannon...But okay!
With the recent Ashoka show apparently Anakin CAN switch to the light and dark side of the force.
I didnt like the show, but i did really like that scene where he started to embrace his anger and both his AND vader's voice said "You lack conviction." It was such a cool, canon vader thing to say. And who says sith cant be force ghosts too? So nkthing wrong there imo
Anakin reverted in age because that's what he looked like when he was last a Jedi
