Thank you for your video. It was the only video I could find that actually showed the little tension bar. I have zero mechanical experience but my truck broke down and I was able to replace both batteries and then the alternator just now bc of your video and explanation.
Pull on the belt then lock the tab on the alternator no need for wrench and cheater bar. Unbolt alternator first, far easier to reach the wires to disconnect.
Not sure what the ratchet was for. Simply pull on the belt and flip up the "kickstand" to hold the tensioner in place. Once the alternator is installed, pull on the belt, the kickstand will disengage and viola, you're done!
