Wanted to say thank you. I watched your video 4x and went and did my starter in a parking lot, in the dark, in a little over an hour in 30 degree weather on 1.5.21. epic video thank you for the simplicity of it.

One of the most helpful videos on 6.0 starter.
Very detailed to the size of the sockets, tools and how to reach them. Excellent!

I know this video is a bit old but it still worked for me. Mechanics really are expensive and liars. Since your helping others and not getting paid from me for this, your being honest that I appreciate. Thank you, I just pocketed $740 bucks.

Many thanks for putting this on. It sure saved me a lot of messing around figuring out bolt sizes. My replacement had a 16mm nut on the power lug. BTW for anyone who needs to know, the torque spec on the mounting bolts is 18 ft lbs.

nice video, thanks. Some notes on mine - I too had different size bolts: 2 upper hold down bolts (13mm) and small wire (10mm) were the same, but the bottom hold down was a 15mm and the large wire bolt was 17mm. Maybe it's a thing on early 04/2003 trucks - lots of changes from early 04 to your 2006. Otherwise exactly the same. I found the previous owner had removed the plastic from the wheelwell so I went in that way for everything except the bottom bolt. Top bolt was easy that way too. Thanks for the great video.

Damn, I haven't had a starter that easy to take out since I was a teenager! Sooo much room. I did a starter rebuild on my sons car a while back. New brushes, bushings, etc. Cost about $25 or so. It was kinda fun and saved a few bucks too. Thanks!

+Baxrok2 I've never tried a rebuild before I thought about trying to rebuild an alternator , just to say I'd done it . That's definitely cool and the price of some of these alt and starters it could really save alot . Thanks again for watching

I go in through the wheelwell. I remove the plastic shroud, use several long extensions( like 18 inches total), and a swivel then come in from the front just under the exhaust manifold and while I'm in the wheelwell i can see that I'm on the bolt and BOOM! Much easier then just feeling for it and fighting a ratchet up in there

Excellent video, man. Thank you for sharing. Got it out, new one in...truck fired up and still getting white smoke (after siphoning a 1/4 tank of water contaminated diesel). Not looking good. 6.0 Powerstroke, still sounds like a champ - and fired up NO PROBLEM - but white smoke. Thank you so much for the starter help. Much appreciated. How do you help me resolve the rest of my problems??! :) Cheers!!

Removing the power wires first is paramount. The rest then falls into place. Also the socket sizes on mine were different no biggie but I find it funny on what appears to be factory parts, that there are occasional discrepancies.

@@s33therfan yes sir! She starts so much quicker now. 6" extension and a deepwell socket was the magic length for the tricky top bolt.
Tightened up some transmission pan bolts while under there and stopped my fluid leak. Just got the SCT tuner working today with it to, mainly to monitor but I did have to try the performance tune 😁. It works!
Just gotta find the right place to bulletproof at, thanks again. 👍
