Man I was ready to pay dam near 1000 bucks for the belt pulley and all wheels to be done. But thanks to you I did it in my driveway for about 300 thanks man.
Just put a new alternator on mine today. 177k . Haven’t had a tensioner failure yet . I took that front cowling off my air cleaner . Kept clogging with snow and noticed quicker spool up. Good vid !
@@ProjectTimeGarage yeah I took mine off right after the snow clog ,fairly easy to put back on , but the intake tube goes up against a little tiny hole so I drilled some more holes there ,my air cleaners been open face ever since with no issues.
so here is a question for you, i have that chirping noise coming from my motor and thought it was a pully but to be sure i removed the belt and it was still there so after doing some listening the chirping is coming from under the driver side valve cover it seems!! have you ever encountered this type of issue before and if so what did you find was the issue please?? also where are you located?? thanks
Do some research on 6.0 lifter failure. That sounds exactly like what you're describing to me. If that's the case I would not drive it until it's fixed. When the lifter seizes, it will send metal through everything. You're most likely looking an an engine at that point. If you catch it early, you can just do lifters and push rods. I would take it to someone who does a lot of 6.0 stuff. My recommendation is Bill Hewitt at Powerstroke Specialty just outside Atlanta, GA.
CHINA......... I just knew when you started transferring pulleys something else would just not quit work out just the way you wanted it too. Feel your pain. Good job dude
I didn't see a kickstand on the new tensioner, either. You could have just as easily, just bought some American made replacement bearings for your tensioner. A lesson I've learned is if you have another vehicle to drive, always take the defective part with you when you go to pick up a replacement part. It's a lot easier to compare parts on the auto parts guy's counter than on your workbench 10 miles away and then, make another trip.
Yeah, I actually broke my own rule on that one. I generally buy Motorcraft stuff for these trucks. In this case, I had purchased the tensioner over a year prior to making this video and it bit me big time. You're 100% right, though, I would have been easy to just source a couple of Timken or BCA bearings and been done with it!
How would I know if my belt pulley tensioner is working properly. My vt365 engine pulley tensioner jumps a little up down while engine is running. I don't hear any squeaks though. Was wondering if that means it's normal or I shouldn't see any movement. Thank you
My 6.0 had the same squeak. Thought it was the belt or belt tensioner. Turns out it was my water pump leaking on the belt and causing it to squeak. Because the squeak will go away about 2 minutes into driving. If it was the belt tensioner then it wouldn’t go away and continue as you drive along
A baby pool from DG works great as a catch pan! You will never miss again! Thx for video!!!
Dang, that's a good idea.

Glad to help
I never use old parts. I would have waited for the right parts. I don't like doing it twice. Good video, Thank you
Yeah, that's a good strategy for sure. So far I've dodged the bullet. It's been 3 years and several miles and it's doing well.

Quicker spool huh? Guess I'll remove mine too. One thing the 6.0 lacks is a quick spool-up.

I run a shop and think your video was great for some one that can try and fix at there own garage.
Thanks man, I appreciate it!
With a ratcheting end wrench, you can sneak that out without removing the fan shroud, just need to take the battery out.
Good to know, thanks for the tip!!
I don’t know why mine has two alternators which means double the tensioners. Geez. Great video. Thanks.
Dual alternators was a thing, especially with the ambulance package. Best thing is you have all the charging.
My truck is doing the same thing. Thanks for video man
Bring it over, we'll fix it

Yep, China. Should have just bought the Ford stuff. I knew better.
Excellent!! Thanks for the help!
No worries!

Or if you live in Montana it might be a 120 mile round trip to the auto parts store! Ask me how I know.
What’s the sign of an idler or pulley going out!!! Is it kind of a knock sound??
Usually a chirp/rattle kind sound.

Some deflection is normal when running. They all do it.
@@ProjectTimeGarage thank you sir!!
Thanks for this video. Really helped a ton! Sub'd
Thanks!!
the tensioner you bought is supposed to come with a shorter bolt for installation. check the box.
Looks like my typical luck. Missing parts from something I bought long ago, lol.
Helpful video but I’m not sure why you removed your air box
Eh, it takes about 5 seconds so it doesn't hurt to have more room rather than less room.
@@ProjectTimeGarage my point was that it’s not in the way to do the job, at least for me but all good

It had a Motorcraft water pump about a year ago. Doing this tensioner did fix it. I've put about 3500 miles on it since this video was filmed.
Great video.
Thanks!
Careful when pulling on the straight belt. Just bent my alternator all to hell
Yikes, thanks for sharing that.
Question: if you’re going to replace the belt and tensioner, could I simply just cut the serpentine belt off instead of messing with the clip
Absolutely. I've done it too many times to count. Just make sure you know the belt routing before you cut it.
It will break the tab and case on the tensioner, just did it 😡
this was nothing compared to changing the belt on my 05 powerstroke e350 van lol
Oh man, I don't envy you one bit. Those vans are tough.
Friend help what belt number you install on that vehicle
K081265HD
Why not replace the whole tensioner?
Well, that was the original intention of the video. As you see, things didn't go as expected.
Even though it's a 6.0, I'll give ya a like. Friggin love the way they sound but just too much negative rep 😐
Also that is a super nice looking interior, damn, my 99 needs some of those!
Thanks, I try hard to keep it in nice shape.
change out that serpentine belt, its dry rotted!!!
Already done.
Dude, what’s with the Porn music?
Eh, my channel was small at the time, so I didn't have a lot of options for music. Did what I could.
656 he farted
You sure that was the only time?
No music necessary neither do I need a history of your f****** truck
Tons of other videos out there man. I suggest you watch some of those instead.
Get to the F’in point dude 🤦♂️
There is a little slider at the bottom of the screen. That is used to move around in the video. Give it a try.
