    Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I am a single mother of a young child that's passion is barrel racing. I have to bump up from my minivan to a truck I can afford. I love my truck 2004 6.0 F350 dually) but I am learning how to do things myself. So when I have to get it serviced I understand the process and know somewhat about it so I'm not getting ripped off. I love working on it. I have small hands so I can squeeze around to change the ipr valve sensor but one of the major issues is I don't have a man's strenght. thanks again.

      You can invest in a small compressor and an impact wrench and air ratchet and pretty much not need a ton of strength. Cordless is really nice to but more expensive. Just remember to always hand start bolts and use the impact to remove mostly.

    Have a 2003 that has no start, no codes, low icp pressure shown, no leaks on oil rails while spinning over, order a adaptor to check with air, did change the IPR due to very minor metal shavings. Also when hooked to 12v couldn't feel the solenoid being activated. FICM is good, crank and cam sensor shows good. I'm leaning for high pressure oil pump but normally you have a code set for icp. While cranking the highest I've seen is 497 psi. Does anyone have a ideas?

    2004 f250 6.0. Driving fine down freeway 65mph. Just stoped running. No pedal response, now it just cranks over fine and won’t start. No indication of want to start while cranking over. Batteries are full charged,Fuel level just under half tank. Put 5gal fuel, still no start.

    I get what they are trying to illustrate here, but the horrendous base cranking at the start of the vid was never addressed -- at about 6:30 during the bubble test the engine cranked over evenly -- something was done that was not shown in the vid

      I’m glad you mentioned this because I’ve been watching videos for weeks now and while watching, I decided to try to train my ear to help determine the problem. At the beginning of the video, you hear what could be something.. possibly catastrophic? Like a bad lifter? Again, I am still learning but the 2 cranks were completely different.

    I have 2006 6.0L no start. has a no ficm sync and a cam sensor code. replaced the ficm, cam,cam sensor harness, two new batteries and still no start. still have cam sensor code. I was told that it's the lpop. plz help

    • @AlliantPowerMktg
      @AlliantPowerMktg  7 років тому +1

      Thank you for the question. Our first suggestion would be going through the cam sensor code diagnostic steps. If all checks out there, a good inspection of the sensor and how it is mounting into the engine block would be next. Verify that it is completely seated in the block to achieve the correct sensor gap to the pin on the camshaft. One way to verify this is installing the sensor with no o-rings, the o-rings sometimes bind which cause the sensor to not fully seat in the bore.

      You have a leak within the high pressure oil system circuit. Please perform an air leak test, preferably when the engine is warm. You can follow the attached APTB for diagnosing a leak on the high pressure oil system circuit. This should be able to guide you with the needed steps to find a leak. alliantpower.com/sites/default/files/documents/technical-bulletins/public/2014/aptb_05-14_en_1.pdf

    So would a bad oil pressure pump make the truck start at all? Mine starts intermittently, but now has started to just shut off after time.

    • @natewilson7664
      @natewilson7664 4 роки тому +3

      Possibly.... 6.0s need oil pressure, fuel pressure, and air to run. The computer needs to see 500 psi in the oil system to actually fire the injectors and the injectors need 45 psi of fuel to function properly, thought they it will not shut off with lower than 45 psi, its just bad for them. As seen in this video, hook up a fuel pressure gauge to check fuel pressure, but the truck will still start even if you're down to like 20 psi. It sounds to me like you have a problem with oil pressure. There is a low pressure oil pump (lpop) and a high pressure oil pump (hpop) on these trucks. The truck needs at least 7 psi in the lpop to feed the hpop, which needs the aforementioned 500 psi. If your truck starts intermittently, its likely either an air leak in your high pressure oil system so the computer is not able to see 500 psi or your hpop has failed; or you have a low pressure oil problem, though that is unlikely. If you have a 2003 or early build date 2004 model, your hpop has likely failed. If you have a late build date 2004 through 2007, you likely have a leak in your high pressure oil system - usually stc fitting, dummy plugs, or your ipr screen is clogged with debris. You can test for a leak on a late 2004 and up by unplugging your icp sensor which is located on the front of your passenger side valve cover by the glow plug harness. Unplug it and try and start your truck. With it unplugged, the trucks computer will just assume the truck has more tham 500 psi. If it starts right up after doing this, you have confirmed a high pressure oil leak or a blocked ipr screen. If it still wont start, you likely have a low pressure oil problem. Test this by removing the oil filter and cap, and cranking th truck over and see if it fills up the oil filter housing with oil. If it does not, then your truck is not building up enough psi to feed the high pressure system. If you have a 2003 or early 2004, then you can perform the same test to check for low pressure oil, but for high pressure oil the likelyhood of a leak is not high, so you can pretty much assume that the hpop itself is failing. Also check to make sure you have enough oil in the truck before doing this.

    Hi Mike,I have a 2006 f350 4x4. I Currently have a dripping in my rea main oils seal. Will I damage the engine by using main oil stop leak products. I have been looking at " Burts" to help me thanks. Phil.

    • @AlliantPowerMktg
      @AlliantPowerMktg  7 років тому

      Phil, We do not recommend using products like Stop Leak. We recommend replacing the leaking seal and following the instructions provided by the service manual. However, we have not used these products in our shop, so we really have no idea if any of them work. You will most likely need a new rear main seal with a repair sleeve. Thank you for the question.

    So let me get this correct, you thought it was a good idea to check the coolant level, coolant hoses, glow plug module, ohm the glow plugs and check to see if there is compression going into the fuel system all before you checked the oil system for leaks and checking the ipr? You have an Ford IDS scan tool, you can tell the main problem is on high pressure oil side and yet you go through all the Bullshit for nothing. I'm not saying to all don't know how to work on the 6.0, but you just billed the customer $50-100 for unnecessary diagnostic time.
