  • There's a lot of different ways people can configure this inverter. I wanted to go through what I thought were some of the common settings people might want to know about.
    The areas we'll be going over in this video are:
    - Battery Communications
    - Zero Export Mode
    - Self Consumption Mode
    - Switching from Battery to Grid
    - Turning Off Grid Charging
    - Controlling the Display Timeout/Backlight

    I just installed an 18kpv in an off grid setup. It’s working great. I also believe that it was a safe way to go as far as tech support because it is so popular. That being said, if I had seen your videos about this inverter and started 6 months later I probably would have got 2 of these. The settings menus are so much more segregated and easy to understand. The value on these is very good if they last well.
    Thank you for your well put together and clear videos.

    I'd like to see updates on this, I'm planning on buying this year. Right now I think either 2 NHX10 for $500 less or 1 EG4 18kpv . 20kva vs 12kva and 18kpv vs 30kpv . Priority for me is safely bringing both inverter and grid into same 200 amp breaker with CTs. Approved in all 50 states no chance hurting a lineman when grid down.

      I’m not sure about all the specific certifications needed, but any hybrid inverter that can backfeed a panel should have the ability to detect if the grid is down and turn off the backfeed capability. I wanna say it’s called “islanding” or something like that. This inverter does have that built in so if the grid goes down, it will only send power out the AC Output.

    Great video. I was wondering if you can do a video on this Inverter working with your other system together.

      What are you looking for in regards to them "working together"?

      @@AdamDeLay07 running your hole house on the victron system with the 10k picking up the rest of the loads. I have a 7k outback 24vote and 2 6k sunpower's all hooked up and running. This power's the hole house and feeds the grid with no problem.

      @@richardbizon8620 the way the Victron system is currently set up, once you switch over to grid, all loads run through grid. I’m not using the ESS assistant right now to allow things to be more “fluid” between battery and grid.

    Another great video. Question, can you only use PV for self consumption back to main panel vs using battery? So when there is solar power coming it is the only time and only power it will put back to main panel after batteries are full?

    • @AdamDeLay07
      @AdamDeLay07  Місяць тому

      Thanks Chris!
      That would be nice if it worked that way. Unfortunately power will come from the battery to supply power to the loads through your grid panel if there’s not enough solar to cover the loads.
      That does get me thinking though. You could possibly set the overnight hours to use less battery power through the “time of use” settings to ensure your batteries don’t get drained overnight.

      @@AdamDeLay07 May be a good test. Would just hate to drain the battery completely for non-critical loads.

    If the NHX is in self consumption mode with the CTs around the incoming L1 and L2 in the main panel as per your second example, what happens if the grid goes down? I'm assuming it anti-islands and is then off as far as powering the panel. In my case I have a breaker between the meter and the main panel, so I can isolate the main panel that way. In that scenario, can re-energizing the panel be done with settings, or do I have to run a second breaker from the panel to the load terminals on the NHX, turn off the grid breaker from the NHX, and flip on said load breaker? I hope that made sense.

    • @AdamDeLay07
      @AdamDeLay07  29 днів тому

      There is an anti-islanding function that's turned on by default. That would cause the self-consumption back-feed to stop.
      The safest option would probably be to run another line back to your main panel and use a generator interlock kit so you know you can never have grid power and solar power energizing the panel at the same time.

    Do you have your 240vhvac unit connected to the inverter too
