    Thanks for the info. This inverter seems to balance loads between battery and grid better than other inverters. I did not know you could pull power from both at the same time.

      Thanks! It does seem to do a good job. When I first got it I didn’t realize it could do that either. It’s a really nice feature though, especially if you don’t have enough battery capacity but still want to maintain power in case of a grid outage.

    Boring is good! The crackle you hear is probably a distorted waveform in the output inductor(s) as the unit current limits to prevent blowing transistors and the like. It might be informative to have a 'scope hooked up to the AC output so the waveform can be seen when it happens.

      Boring is good from a usability standpoint, true.
      Yeah I still need to get a scope and figure out how to use it. Especially if I keep running these kinds of tests.

    Thanks for the user review on this inverter, thinking of adding to m6 system, any better solar input (kwh produced) vs the victron?

      Thanks Lee. I believe the Victrons still have a lower startup voltage.

    Hey Adam, I've looked around for a bit to see if they have a web based monitor for it and I don't see one. Are they going to add one later on or are they going to lean on Solar Assistant? Looks like a really solid unit for the price.

      So they have built-in monitoring using the SolarMan app. It doesn’t buy you much from a real-time monitoring standpoint. For this specific inverter, I would assume Watts247 would recommend Solar Assistant (and I would too). Just a much better monitoring tool all around.

    Great video. Really liking this unit for the money. Only thing i dont like is the 14 amp limit on pv lines. Kinda limits what panels could be used without any clipping. Looking forward to more videos.

      A lot of the larger panels I’ve seen have a 10-12amp rating on them so you wouldn’t be able to parallel them on a lot of charge controllers I’ve seen. You can still get a pretty decent series string on them though.

      I have 6 panels per string 187 volts under max 3400 watts, this inverter can handle 4500w inputs with clipping. It did not clip the 3400 it just used it.

      I was looking at larger bi-facials, the more bifacial gain the higher the amps raise. Would probably only get that kind of production in the winter with snow but that is when I really don't want to leave any on the table. 😅 Just a matter of matching the right panels.

      I’ll be going over that all in the next video for the NHX. Just a cat5 passthrough cable to my orient power 230ah battery. Using CAN communication.

    Great video, how is the fan noise compared to the EG4 6000xp?

      I wana say it’s quieter than the 6000XP. I’ll have to see if I can run a sound test on the NHX when I’m sure there’s nothing else running in the background that could skew the test.

      I’ve had it running for over a month. It takes some getting used to with the menu system but once you figure it out, it’s really quite a system. It does have its “quirks” but it’s a workhorse. Most times I never knew what was supplying power (pv, battery or grid) because it was just seamless.

    Why does the monitor screen say only 120v from grid?

      @@AdamDeLay07 On the Solar Assistant screen it always shows around 120v for Grid. I assumed that it would be 240v.

      @@OzarksGypsy gotcha. There’s a couple things that SA doesn’t reflect properly. Might be something specific to this version of the inverter. For instance I’m not in “self consumption mode” but it doesn’t seem to be able to recognize that I’m in “zero export mode”.

      I’ll end up showing a little more on the configuration in the next video on this inverter. From the “zero export” config though, you need to place them on the AC input lines of the inverter. That way nothing goes back out. I have them on those lines, they’re just in the wiring trough below the inverter.

    Put a voltmeter on the battery leads while charging, you might be charging 2v higher do not believe that inverter, if it is over, drop absorb 2V, drop float by 2v as well and test voltage.
    After a fault shutdown let the fans spin down to idle before restarting or wait 3 to 5 mins it should auto start. At 10:46 voltage is 50.1V, it might actually be 51.7V.
    On the battery screen it shows charge voltage at 57.6, on mine that is my float value. My lead carbons may produce different results with no bms but I would check just in case for over voltage charging.

      Good call. It looks like I have just over 1v difference between the inverter display and my meter. I’ll have to see if there’s a way to calibrate that. Thanks!

      @@AdamDeLay07 I think rob @organicpower said a few brands are inaccurate. Our inverter i have seen 5 brand names on the same one. 2 inverters I had same problem.when charging the volts are more inaccurate.
      Solaronline is working on the separate bms that plugs into comms
      It's Amen solar but it may work on yours.

    This versus 6000xp? Seems like this is between 6000xp and 18k.

      Maybe a good next video...comparative video between inverters. I just love the fact that you use " actual house loads" which are in the real world. Not just a bunch if power tools that other youtubers do. With the EV boom im looking into an inverter that can handle both House and Ev charging

      @@jasonhermosilla9064 gotcha! Yeah it’s kinda in between both of them. It has more output power than the 6000xp but with some of the grid interactive features of the 18kPV.

      I would imagine the startup surge required would overload the unit. I can’t think of a reason though why someone would buy one of these inverters to run a single device at 100% capacity anytime it’s running though.

      @@quickquote1568 Never seen one pull that much before, but I'm sure they're out there. I would hope whoever is looking to power such a load would perform their due diligence and not purchase something that would require 100% output to run a single device.
