Fallout 4 is a 2015 action role-playing game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the fourth main game in the Fallout series and was released worldwide on November 10, 2015, for PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One. The game is set within an open world post-apocalyptic environment that encompasses the city of Boston and the surrounding Massachusetts region known as "The Commonwealth".
The main story takes place in the year 2287, 10 years after the events of Fallout 3 and 210 years after "The Great War", which caused catastrophic nuclear devastation. The player assumes control of a character simply referred to as the "Sole Survivor", who emerges from a long-term cryogenic stasis in Vault 111, an underground nuclear fallout shelter. After witnessing the murder of their spouse and the kidnapping of their son, the Sole Survivor ventures out into the Commonwealth to search for their missing child. The player explores the game's dilapidated world, completes various quests, helps out various factions, and acquires experience points to level up and increase the abilities of their character. New features to the series include the ability to develop and manage settlements and an extensive crafting system where materials scavenged from the environment can be used to craft explosives, upgrade weapons and armor, and construct, furnish, and improve settlements. Fallout 4 is the first game in the series to feature a fully-voiced protagonist.

I just downloaded Fallout 4 again to see what the nostalgia is. But for the next Fallout i personally would like something similar to Baldur's Gate 3, take it back to its original state.
without mods high frame rates break everything btw. The character animations, game clock, and weather are all synced to frame rate for some reason so when I was pushing 1000FPS the game was unplayably fast. Like break neck speeds the UI can't even handle.
basicaly non of the big important bugs ppl constantly run in to are fixed and 21:9 support is just a flat out lie.

3440x1440 resolution isn't even an option.
no options for fov, fps limit, v-sync...
you still have to fiddle around in the fallout.ini and gpu driver for that stuff.
nothing about this is nex-gen.
effectively the patch just ads some mid-tier creation club stuff and breaks all your mods.

London developers are just lying. They were never supposed to release the mod in the promised date. They just blamed this update for it.
In Discord, since this update was announced, we told the team to just make a mandatory requisite to have the GOG version or to use the trick of the Vortex mod manager to fool Steam in think the last update is installed. The team never said anything. They just canceled the release.
@@Rangure02 I wouldn't say they're "lying", but I would agree that there's a strange amount of dramatics over this release when we've known this was coming for years, they've informed us of each delay, it seemed like a no brainer would be some time near the release of the show, and there are literal ways to get around this and even downgrade your game if you accidentally auto-updated if Fallout London is actually important to anyone. Especially when the one thing people keep pointing to as a reason for upgrading PC was Ultrawide support. I sincerely doubt the majority of people complaining about ultrawide support being improperly implemented are actually a part of the 2.1% of reported owners. It's just regurgitation. It's also been funny seeing people like "Bethesda did this to break mods because Fallout London was coming to kick their ass.". Like. Yeah, a FREE mod for BETHESDA'S game is gonna kick THEIR ass. 😂😂

It baffles me when Bethesda calls it "Next-Gen Update" when they cannot even add FSR3/DLSS3 while the modders have added all 3 Upscalers into the game a long time ago.
It’s called that because it works better on current consoles. No real improvements for PC.

When in reality this is just a "care package", they have no rights to call it that when there's no huge leap at all.
"Fixed by mod'ers" They fixed the game to begin with, everything that bethesda released was crap tell it was "fixed" by the 'mods'.
And now the fixers have to go back to the drawing board after the update...as is tradition.

I'd be fine with waiting as long as we knew that what arrives will be worth waiting for. Rockstar will probably release only a couple of GTA games in my whole remaining lifetime, and I'm only in my mid 20s. But there's a good chance that they will be bangers. With Bethesda, at this point my main thought is "please just don't make it even more dumbed down"

I WAS MAKING A MOD WITH A TOWN IN THE GLOWING SEA AROUND THE PLANE WRECK THEY USED IN THE UPDATE.
It had glowing ghouls and horses; they put their power armor helmets on with danses animation at night to go and patrol the sentinel sight.
But now I have to redirect the doors(I made the inside of the plane a interior so I could make a quest easier) and move all the npcs in the outside, make a new exterior.
Wonder where I should place a new plane wreck?
we get a broken game, and forced to endure it until the modders fix the game *again*
already have what it offered and more,.
No fov slider, no photo mode, some of the new weapons are an exclamation point for me and the characters hands are still really god-damn ugly.
And now fallout 4 on ps5 runs at 60fps, at least they did what's most important

The update ruined my performance on Xbox. One of the new quests is totally broken. Wish I had pictures or video to share, but there were giant red exclamation marks all over the place. The new weapons are all invisible, and at one point there was a guy shooting red exclamation marks at me form an invisible gun. Good times.

this update was more for us console players. i’m not really sure what you pc guys were expecting, and i’m sorry it may not meet your expectations and obviously breaking the mods are a huge blow, but being able to play 60fps on console is a godsend for us. If anything i think it should have been an optional update for pc

@@deathtrooper2048 literally every single update for Cyberpunk 2077 breaks all core mods, just like in this case. the difference is that Cyberpunk 2077 was a good game to begin with, and the 2.0 update made it even better, so it's worth the trouble. the Fallout 4 update does next to nothing for PC players, but breaks everything.

@@ryanjenki7948 i love this update and can tell you it's crashed everytime I've changed mods and downloading mods and creation content is almost guaranteed to take many tries as it just fails which never ever happened on last gen, and the first one was a rare thing but now it's a guarantee
1. fix the lever action reload, ffs bethesda stop being lazy
2. fix the z fighting in certain parts of the map
3. give us the ability to skip kellog's memories, its a buggy ass sequence that should be skippable
4. give us the ability to skip dima's memories
5. let us scrap rubble in settlements without breaking precombines
6. let us repair scrapped houses at our settlements without breaking precombines
All my settlements have decorations & beds just floating in the sky now
FYI there us no actual ultrawide support in this update, the uis are broken and everything was just stretched. They did the BARE MINIMUM to look like it but it's just 16 9 stretched into 21 9
Uninstalled immediately as soon as I saw this.
If you boot up through geforce experience, it forces actual 21:9, the UI is a little messy here and there but it looks and feels fine to play

Every once in a while I like to sit back and close my eyes, imagining an alternate reality where Interplay and Black isle studios still existed and was making Fallout games.
Fallout 3 and 4 would have been way better. And no fucking glitches or bugs.

"There's no way they would-" Luke, you're seriously underestimating how sore of a spot F:NV is for BGS. Obsidian banged they girl better than them and everyone who watched agreed. They'll let that franchise rot before Obsidian gets another turn.
So let me understand this. For people who know BGS didn't fix anything of importance the main thing was the "creations" update like how skyrim works now. You know, to avoid every creation club content addition not hard breaking F4SE. Why in the entire fuck is that not here. I can't find the CC (Creation Club) on the main menu anywhere I tried reloading in different resolutions and tried verifying the game files Idk if it's like a thing where you have to beat the game first or if I have to buy or download it now but I can't find it anywhere and Im pissed for spending money for it to just be deleted in a couple of days.
Good thing I prepared for the future and took a bunch of pictures of my mod list 📸
Even for console they couldn't bother with the biggest request of updating the mod limit, because they " didn't want to break mods and load orders", meanwhile my whole game crashed and load order is broke. Just about worthless as most of the stuff they "fixed" had mods that weren't file heavy.
When I loaded in after the update most of my mods were completely gone from my library
Just make sure all mods that require the script extender are disabled, make a collection for your current load order tho so u can reapply it once script extender gets updated

It’s a nice gesture they released an update for such an old game. Especially, for console players. But at the same time, this was such a minor update. Why was it hyped so much? Also, why did wait almost 2 years to release it, when all they did was repackage CC content and enable PC settings on console?

It was novel the first time I beat the game and then afterwards I was like "This is literally the cheapest most annoying shit to squeeze playtime out of a Bethesda game since radiant quests."
i find it interesting that although i didn't know when the update was coming out or that it would break any or all the mods i was using, after i updated and launched the game i found that despite 30 mods i had installed not one conflicted or errored and i am still playing and continuing my last save with zero issues.

Their engine is actually one of the fastest ones to make games in. New Vegas devs said this. They couldn't have made that game in that time frame on something else. If you've ever made mods with it you'd know how good it is as well.

Jesus, I was still in the military when this game launched. I’m just now getting around to a first full play through. My knees hurt thinking about it.
The problem is my save file relies heavily on F4SE and the new update completely corrupted the code so now the people working on the F4SE won’t be able to update it for awhile and it’s added a permanent glitch because I purged my load order but my game keeps saying I don’t have F4SE so I can’t talk to companions or start quests😢

To add more context to that 20 year timeline, the length of time between mainline games that gap would take up the lions share of their employees careers. Meaning that at the rate they are going most of their employees would only ever work on 1 or 2 mainline games before retirement.
Did they fix the black screen when starting the game on pc? I tried everything. Black screen, but I can hear the sound of the menu.
Sucks they kinda screwed the Fallout: London devs. Feel bad for those guys
They should be able to update it rather easily but it's very annoying and painful
@@kp-legacy-5477 Unfortunately, because London utilizes other community mods, like the script extender, the modded expansion's fate hinges on these additonional mods being updated. Thus, it's delayed indefinitely.

@@Rangure02yes, your right there are ways around it. The thing is there’s only a few thousand people who would make the effort to do that. The mod team has stressed that they want everyone to play it and be easy to install. So best they wait, I think the mod will come in a quarter 2 of 2024.
@@Rangure02 Fallout: London requires F4SE, which circumvents steams update anyways (If you aren't a total dipshit you'd have set steam to update only on game launch years ago, since if you launch FO4 through F4SE steam doesn't detect it as launched). The FO4: London devs are just full of shit, they even said a while back that they wouldn't be porting the mod to Next Gen before.
Something was probably fucked up with the mod and they're using the update as a way to fix issues
The first time they talked about this patch... they talked about something NEXT GEN (ENHANCED), and that was right after the witcher 3 did the same thing... everyone thought it would be a total increase... better graphics...bug fixes, stability, etc, etc! Without any information for months and months, some began to think that the update might not be released... with the insistence of fans for more information, Bethesda announced that it would come after the release of the series on Amazon and made everyone feel relieved and more excited again. Even because it took more than 1 year to do this upgrade, everyone thought it would be something big! The truth is the opposite! Bethesda not only didn't improve but also fucked up a lot of things, which after the whole fallout 76 case and criticism of starfild, it's amazing how nothing changes and they continue to be liars and disrespectful! Fallout 4 had NO GRAPHIC IMPROVEMENTS! What they did was increase the resolution and fps in the console version! If you played on PS4 or Xbox One and are now on PS5/Series X, you will see an improvement in image quality... but IT IS NOT A GRAPHIC IMPROVEMENT! Ray tracing, mechanics and content graphical improvement is what Cdprojectred did with the witcher 3! ON PC you have an eternal bug that when running at more than 60 fps the physics of the game is broken THEY DIDN'T FIX THAT! There is a graphics option linked to the Nvidia GameWorks graphics library that can be activated in the game to improve bullet fragments and impacts (and it looks much better) but for years activating it means crashes and crashes.. you run the game for a few minutes and it will always crash and in more than 1 YEAR of ""working"", THEY DIDN'T FIX IT! To make matters worse... the patch broke many mods, many mods are simply completely unstable! all thath for what???? Better graphics? NO! Improved mechanics? NO! Improved gameplay? NO! For bug fixes that have plagued users for years, especially on PCs? NO! So why did we have this patch that is a disgrace for the modding community, and it didn't improve anything??? MONEY !
uninstall and move on until mods are updated or simply don't play it, like a normal human being would, instead of typing an incoherent essay that no one will ever read. jesus, dude
@@__jojo__ If this was a game that was still getting meaningful content updates (such as Far Harbor, Workshop DLCs, or even bugfixes) I could agree with putting the game aside until mods were updated. The thing here, is that BGS took a game that is well past it's end of support and hasn't seen an official update since maybe 2017? (could be wrong) And decided to make very minimal changes that break the game for people that have been tweaking their load order for years now, hell, I'm sure that there's people that have been playing the same character for years who likely, cannot do so after this update unless they knew how to prevent the update, or know how to revert it.
There is nothing "abnormal" about being upset that something you loved/enjoyed and could consistently rely on is broken or taken away, I would too, be upset, if I hadn't prevented the update and the 3 years I spent on my load order was basically destroyed (remember, a lot of the OG modders no longer maintain/create mods so a good number of them will have to be let go if we wish to use the new update). There's no need to insinuate that this person isn't "normal", its harsh and entirely unnecessary.
So just went back to fallout 4 after the show, started modding, was having a good time and without knowing Todd was dropping a new update... Now there is no fun... Thanks Todd.

I think out of the dozens of mentions of this series and this exact game, this is the most concise and considered synopsis you've given about the fallout 4 experience. Personally I feel the exact same way, it's about a step up from some Borderlands game but not quite a Witcher 3 or even much of an RPG

I was playing fallout 4 for the first time since 2015 a week before this update.
I played today, and it's so SOOO smooth. It's now 60fps or more and it's great. I got lucky asf with this update

one of the main advantages of having a pirated version of the game on hand is that you don't have to deal with mods breaking if you don't care that much about the most recent updates.
What people tend to forget is that Fallout 4 was made on a ps3 engine before the ps4 was released. The performance we get now is a blessing since it is not on an engine made specifically for ps4 or ps5

The free CC content isn't version dependent. This means you can update and roll back without losing that sweet new mod dlc. You can have all your mods and the new content.

6:31 I will admit I was hyped, but they committed 2 grave sins with Fallout 4; 1. The removal of skills, and 2. 4 dialogue options. Those on their own drop this waaaaay down to a 4/10 for me. You can't tell a story with only 4 options that all do the same thing with slightly different levels of snark, and an RPG without skills is like a construction company that only owns a jackhammer.

What a blast of nostalgia. I remember getting super motion sick from playing this game nearly an entire decade ago.
I need help with this. On PS5 with a Fallout 4 that's never been modded, I try to do transfer save. Only one (out of MULTIPLE) comes up, it's kinda crappy since that save is literally from the beginning of the game. I have no idea why the rest of my saves won't show and i could really use some help figuring this out.
Unfortunately, one of the biggest things they didn't fix is the weapon debris bug. The Game still crashes because of it. Bummer

Every time I hear someone cry about how long they will have to wait for the next main line fallout game, i can't help but laugh through my own tears sitting here with my 6th re-release of skyrim
To be honest, this update only truly benefits the PS5, wich was the only platform stuck in 30 fps. On Xbox all that thing does is force me to put the game on the already cramped internal storage unit when until yesterday the game ran fine from an external mechanical HD. On PC, it only serves the purpose of breaking people's mods. The "extra content" hardly makes up for all the mods from the last 9 years.
Important context: As with most Bethesda updates the 'real' update is backend. According to Ianpatt from F4SE the compiler was changed, and F4Edit reports that the archive file format was adjusted/changed as well. Situation reminds me of when they added esl's as an option with Skyrim which basically had no change at first but has completely revolutionized modding today, not to say the outcome will be the same scope, just to say that there probably will be a significant effect that's not seen short term.
As much as it's easy to shit on the updates for breaking mods, they are usually helpful down the line, and potentially may one day lead to them finally porting the games to DX12 where we won't have to deal with draw call limitations and pandora's box is finally opened.
