Negative bias is innate. That is true. Sad songs are better quality that many happy songs. Meaning in our good mood ..sad songs are better. Thank you giving solutions. Good one. Cheers

it is so amazing to listen to you. the number one issue in mental health is arrogance. therapists armed to fix people and forget the importance of human level connection and not ppl feeling like "tested on animals"

Thank you - that is a very meaningful comment to me... The most effective therapy is definitely where the therapist is not trying to "fix,", rather explore...

      @creativelydest 2 роки тому

I too feel like I am being fixed but it also goes to how we are conditioned. Sometimes that what we think we need & we attract that as a service to us because it is our norm 😢

    Me 💯%.
I am trying to not do this anymore. Kicking out the ANTs, by being aware, then asking myself "is this really true", then think about what other possibilities can there be.

I've been doing this recently, after having had therapy for depression, once I started feeling better I decided to focus on what is good in my life. It really does help and becomes habit after a short time.
This episode was very helpful in reinforcing those habits plus some good additional information about why we think negatively and how to change that pattern.
    Thanks for this. ☺️

    • @BarbaraHeffernan

That is so terrific that you were able to change that pattern!

Congrats Susan! It is certainly easier said than done, but once you get into the rythm of focusing on what is good in your life, cultivating a gratitude bias if you will, it can so transformative!
Barbara, you talk about it so well in your video. I hope you'll continue to release new videos on similar topics like this soon!

I'm scared to be happy. Terrified. If I'm happy something horrible will happen.
    I almost avoid happiness.

Absolutely! A very hard pattern to change.. I’m trying to list 2-3 things I can be grateful for everyday. Having serious anxiety and panic attacks this works someday and not so much other times.

This is great!!! I especially liked where you emphasized the deeper work. You can`t just be positive. You need to do the work! Thank you very much for reminding me that the deeper work is a must.

Wonderful session on an issue that affects almost everyone. I loved the butterfly tapping idea. I just did that to myself and it put a smile on my face immediately. Thanks for all your suggestions!

Thank you for the video Barbara and for the suggestions on how to retrain our minds to be more grateful and compassionate. This will help me a lot, and I will try the tapping! The bottom line is that a lot of our own negativity is only in our minds, and sometimes it's just hard to realize that while you're in the middle of a very highly emotional moment,

I've been depressed for years now trying all sorts of antidepressants that never worked,i now realise it's my own thinking about stuff that's causing it.When I'm really low i get these strong paranoid thoughts that people are doing or saying things just to annoy me and i do the mind reading lots and pleanty of self sabotage.Feel like I'm so missing out on life I'm constantly caught up in my own thinking and can't concentrate on things around me 🙄

Hi Mary: Thanks for noticing!! Everything is fine. I have been working hard on a new coaching program I am launching (info in notes under my videos) and also on a new, free webinar, Rewiring Your Brain for Joy and Confidence. If interested check the notes (click Show More) under the video. And I'll be back to UA-cam relatively soon :)

Hi, thx for your videos and sharing your compassion. I live in Cambodia. I practice gratitude, I started to meditate and pray, watch my feelings. Its really not easy to not get involved. How to let go the feeling of being abandoned ? How to stay positive when the man you love complains?...Thx

Hi! I just hate I have to work on myself. I was doing negative core beliefs and ( I really critical towards both myself and the teachers) and it was ok when I was doing transformations even felt deep self compassion but the next morning I just got so stiff. Not angry but..like I am ok enough made me feel doubtful and resistant towards it

How does it happen that anxiety and fear and worry and depressed feelings come up when menopause hits? Do these ‘rewiring practices’ help for this time in our lives? I feel I’ve had the same thoughts for 40 years. They weren’t pressing all the time, though, but now they’ve come to the top and I’m having trouble. I feel lately that I need to hash out some past issues so I can feel better about myself.
