Yep, that is me all over. Have a catastrophic childhood, and this is your reward. You can run as much as you like, but in the end your past will catch you up.
I'm just at the beginning of the video, but I wanted to thank you that you're making this video - this a very important distinction. I just want to mention that, sometimes, it's a very objective reality that creates the negative thoughts. The negative thoughts are the direct result of a negative reality or life circumstance. Denying or not reacting to real circumstances wouldn't be healthy.
I was bought up by a covert narcissist I was trained to believe negative thoughts. However since you helped me understand what the problem was I am less negative because I know now it’s not my fault.
I appreciate your videos so deeply, and find myself reflecting little by little on more aspects of your lessons with every day. It’s truly incremental, but you are one of the few people on this platform who it really feels like you’re here for all the right reasons, and working to put your best out into the world - without just focusing on issues like narcissists (or flogging “magic” matcha energy drinks and things). That is to say I really value your commitment and trustworthiness, that you’re not locked into a limiting/limited cycle of clickbait topics; your content is truly helping so many people, both now as well as stretching deep into the future. Thank you so much for all that you put out into the world here. Thank you for sharing this experience and these methods of thinking to so many who are unable to seek one-on-one therapy for one reason or another.
Thanks Barbara, great content and insight as usual. These videos really get me thinking...I'm also passing onto my Mother, who has problems with negativity/negative thoughts and anxiety etc.
you've helped me understand my behavior and emotions to a great extent, for which I'm truly grateful. If possible, could you create a video addressing phone addiction, specifically how scrolling becomes a distraction, and offer advice on how to avoid or overcome it?
Thank you for the video. My son focuses on the negative thinking or pain ( for example: getting hurt during activities, noise during swimming races) even though in reality he is doing a great job whatever he does, so it makes him suffer mentally and spend a lot of time thinking about those pain he created in his head. One time we went through serious airline layovers and he thought about that bad experience for 6 months whenever he was taking a shower for 40 minutes every day and one day it just stopped. How can I make my teen want to learn to have more control in his thoughts? Right now the biggest issues is that he doesn’t want to be challenged.

How wonderful you’ve been changing those beliefs! ❤️
I think thats how the Menendez brothers turned into killers the way they were abused in their childhood?
