Thanks for remembering the guy from "Gremlins." His name is Dick Miller. His career spanned 64 years. He was one of Hollywood's favorite character actors. May he rest in peace.
Imagine the PTSD of the SWAT team from the Cyberdyne lobby. Figure the police station attack from the 1984 movie was circulated to all the other police stations (and various military units), to determine what mistakes were made by both sides (very few). They also knew that the attacker from the police attack was never found afterwards. Updates to police stations and procedures were made to prevent that sort of attack in the future. So that SWAT team has heard about the attack, they have seen construction occur all around the country, and they know whoever did this is still out there. Then they get the call, the person has been seen again, and they have to guard the lobby to make sure this guy doesn't leave. Combine that with all the other stuff that happens in the movie, and that SWAT team will be having PTSD for months or years afterwards.
When Reese tells Sarah about the photo, says he always wondered what she was thinking about when the picture was taken and then at the end you find out that she was thinking of him, telling their unborn son about his father. So that adds a whole other layer to the photo plot line and I've always thought that was a really genius bit of writing. Also, Arnold Schwarzenegger's performance as The Terminator is really undersold. Yeah, most of the time he isn't lauded for acting ability, but it's not nothing to believably depict a machine. He's genuinely frightening in this because you believe he's The Terminator. It's in the physicality and the "deadness" in his eyes.
Completely agree, particularly about Arnold's acting as a machine. He's one of very few people who have managed to completely sell me on them being robots in a movie/show. Off the top of my head, the only one I can say who has done it better is Alicia Vikander in "Ex Machina" - she's absolutely sublime in that role.
@@heavycritic9554 Robert Patrick was great as the T-1000 in the sequel. He trained himself a whole lot to try and avoid flinching, blinking, breathing heavy etc
James Cameron originally looked at Arnold for the Kyle Reese part, with OJ Simpson (!!!) playing the Terminator. But after a lunch meeting with Arnold, who kept talking about how the Terminator should act and move, Cameron said, "Arnold, I think you should play the robot." Arnold was hesitant at first, since he didn't want to play a villain, but conceded a few days later, and history was born.
I never questioned the love of Reese and Sarah. The action of Terminator was incredible but James Cameron's scripting did a great job of capturing their tragic romance. Two people separated by time and for a short moment in the midst of chaos, loving 'a lifetime's time worth'. Seeing her picture Reese fell in love with Sarah as he was drawn in by the sadness in her face just as Sarah would fall for him seeing the pain and sadness in his. Beautifully Heartbreaking. While it may seem clumsy at first viewing, Cameron (and his actors) pulled off a believable romance that other directors and authors of the Terminator films couldn't touch, even when they tried.
lance wasn't killed by an alien Ripley shut him down... And Paxton was not killed by an alien either he was nuked out of existence , He was harvested by the aliens and impregnated
Hyped for you guys to get to Terminator 2, this one is a classic but T2 is probably my favorite action movie ever. Still this one really changed the game.
T2 is an amazing movie but ive always slightly preferred the original just because of how badass kyle reese is. the fact that he's a human who travelled through time to complete his mission knowing that he wouldnt make it back adds so much to his character
@@Buttsley1 Yeah but where would you rather be stuck? In a war torn machine run dystopia or the prosperous 1980s where all the amenities Kyle had as a kid, before judgement day, are available again and now he’s an adult? If he completes his mission alive, living out the rest of his life with Sarah and John isn’t exactly a punishment :)
This movie also had the police being smart. They used the press to find Sarah, they told her to stay in a populated location, and when the terminator attacked they treated him as a threat. Pity they were thinking drugged up guy attacking from surprise instead of advanced robot who doesn't care about an audience.
It took me a while to realize that the reason the cops started chasing him is probably because Terminator just yeeted 2 guys and they are looking for a naked guy stealing clothes and he was stealing clothes, lol
RIP Bill Paxton. He portrayed the blue spiky haired punk. This was before he became a big star. He was a great actor. It's crazy that y'all hadn't seen this before. I think it's a rite of passage sci fi movie that everyone needs to see. Enjoyed y'alls reactions and commentary as always!
The other punk ( The one who got "fisted" ) Is Brian Thompson, Known for playing the Alien Bounty Hunter in "The X Files" TV series, and "The Judge" in "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" TV series (and three of the Star Trek franchises, and one movie).
I don't know. I think Hercules in New York was top quality filmmaking. Be sure to watch the original version where they dub his voice, badly. It's pretty hilarious.
Not saying Conan didn’t make him popular. There were people that loved those movies. (Myself included…Destroyer was my favorite) but after Terminator, EVERYONE knew who he was. It made him a superstar.
I saw this on release in the UK and few people had heard of Arnold. By the next year he was a big movie star. Bit like Madonna, nowhere to huge in a year.
@@JJA1987 It had one of the biggest cock ups in movie history. The CPU of the first Terminator was used to design Skynet's schematics. Paradox. The first film was a scary sci fi horror film, would they actually beat the Terminator? Second was more of a flawed flash, glitzy Hollywood action film. The MOMENT I saw the truck enter the refinery & I saw the molten metal I knew EXACTLY how the T1000 would perish. The ever present danger element was just not there. The other thing that really irritated me was, in the first, Kyle told Sarah they had beaten the computer in the future, the war was over. The only chance it had of winning was to eliminate Connor's existence. If the Terminator did, it may win. If it did not, it had LOST. He also made it crystal clear, NOTHING DEAD WILL GO making the T1000's presence an impossibility. Second film was a PURE CASH IN on the success first, unfortunately, a bit more time explaining things would have helped. The final irks. In the Parking Lot the T1000 stands there, looking at John trying to start his bike. Why not shoot him? Then at the Pescadero Mental Hospital, the T1000 marches up to the barred door, FULLY ARMED & stood there, looking at his target & proceeded to (HOLLYWOOD GLITZ) melt through the bars instead of SHOOTING THE HELL out of his target! Nothing scary, inescapable at all about it. Made to make money on the success of the original. Not a patch on the masterpiece original. Replacing story with lovey dovey stuff & cool sfx. No thanks.
It's funny you mention expecting him to say "I'll be back", because this was the first movie that he used the catchphrase, and it almost didn't happen. Arnold practiced that line with a speaking coach as his accent kept making it difficult to say. I highly recommend watching Terminator 2, if you haven't seen it.
I just read about that line, Arnold actually didn't WANT to say the line the way it was written. He wanted to say it more robotically, like " I will be back". James Cameron got pissed at Arnold and told him unless he was a screenwriter, "do your fucking job and I'll do mine, say the line how I wrote it"... and now it is THE line Arnold is known for
1984 is one of the best years for film imo. Few years ago I cosplayed as The Terminator in his punk outfit from this film as it was a dream cosplay of mine and I event spray painted and decorated the jacket and shirt down to a T, made my own 45 long slide with laser sighting out of a nerf gun and even had my hair cut just like his and it was a success. One of my fav and most underrated terminator looks but the leather jacket look is unbeatable. The Tech Noir and Police Station shootouts are two of the best shootout sequences in film imo. So excited for you guys to react to the sequel which is the GOAT! 🙌🏻
That picture Reese had is so important for so many reasons. Not only did it give him an edge up in locating her ahead of the Terminator (Reese already knew what she looked like), it helped facilitate him falling in love with her. Terminators are known for their unstoppable perseverance. One of the best ways to get a human to behave similarly, is to make them feel love. They'll do whatever they possibly can to save the target, it's not just a mission, it's protecting what he loves.
That is a great point!!! I’ve watched this movie hundreds of times since I was a kid in the 80s and for some reason I didn’t think about the human side of the programming, insuring the relentlessness of the human being sent back in time. The relentlessness of a human being fighting for what he loves is a much scary advisery then a robot and would insure the highest probability of success.
One of the top 50 action films of all time as well as one of the top 50 science fiction films of all time. I miss James Cameron doing films i care about.... tremendous director
He should have made the follow up for _True Lies._ Arnie, Jamie Lee Curtis, Eliza Dushku, Grant Heslov, Tom Arnold, and Bill Paxton were all up for it.
normally I would say, "how could you have never seen The Terminator?" 🤔 But with Octokrool I want to say "how can you have had a reaction channel for _two years_ and you've never seen The Terminator??" 😆😮
@@JSC178There are literally hundreds of thousands of movies. You'll never see them all. And the billions of people on the planet have different upbringings. There are homes with no tv/movie watching. Many homes. You start watching movies after you're grown and leave home. Your experience isn't the default for all humanity. There are so many famous movies I haven't seen or just saw recently, and I'm at least twice their age.
And if you have a reaction channel and have not seen T 1 and 2, they should be reacted to very early in the Channel. Why did they edit out the scene where Kyle explains to Sarah why the Terminator is trying to kill her and about her son and everything? I say this video is BS. It's dishonest and it makes your viewers not trust you. Come on guys!
@@JSC178 I think some are real. But you are probably right that most are fake. I had these movies on vhs and watched them probably 100's of times as a kid.
I can see the romance angle if you remember that she was just stood up from a date. And from what she said to Pugsly, she sounded sad or lonely. So hearing Kyle speak so passionately about her specifically, and her emotions going haywire from the events she just experienced, she probably just wanted to feel something good and safe. Kyle was the only one who could believe what she was going through and help her process what was going on.
One of the things often overlooked is some of the visuals and effects were groundbreaking in 1984. Particularly the basic terminator robot at the end. T2 takes that X10. It's one of the all-time greats, but the first one is a great setup.
When you see the Endoskeleton from behind as it leaves the flames , its shoulder blades are moving. That must have been tough to animate but Stan Winston did it anyway.
@MarcusBritish no, no paradox. Feasibility needs to remain within the fantastical, thanks. 😊 don't get me wrong. I like the movies..but was disappointed when, after many years, I realised that a pivotal plot point goes against the rules of timetravel- which do exist.
@@kellymaher3355, a CPU sent from the future cannot design the computer that sent it back. STINKER paradox that I can't believe Cameron screwed up on. First film was made to tell a fantastic story with nailbiting fear & almost inescapable horror. Second was made to make money with not near as much danger or inescapability..............
@GGGritzer that's a problem with the second movie. Reese can't be john's father AND the future turn out the same as the one that sent him back...is a problem with the first movie.
Heya fellas~! Love your reaction to this one! This and its sequel T2 are the absolute BEST in the franchise. The others aren't even worth seeing in my humble opinion so I wouldn't bother with the other movies after T2. Speaking of which, I'm very much looking forward to your reaction to T2. Until then, ya'll take care and have a great day~! 😃 P.S. When you can, I still HIGHLY recommend "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003)" and "Broken Arrow (1996)" for ya'll to react to. I also HIGHLY recommend a movie called, "Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins (1985)." Believe me, you won't be disappointed. 😉👍
Originally OJ Simpson was considered to play The Terminator but James Cameron changed his mind, saying in an interview that, "Hes too much of a nice guy to play the role of a ruthless killer." 😳🤦 Lance Henriksen, Mel Gibson, Tom Selleck, Sylvester Stallone and Richard Gere were considered for the role. Bruce Springsteen, Treat Williams (RIP), Scott Glenn, Tommy Lee Jones, Sting, and Matt Dillon were considered for Kyle Reese. Lea Thompson, Lisa Langolis, Rosanna Arquette, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Jessica Harper were considered for Sarah Connor.
On the second one being better, I don't know if it's that simple. It's definitely a bigger action movie and it's basically the quintessential summer blockbuster, but I think the first movie is more of a horror. Reminds me of Alien vs Aliens (also a James Cameron sequel)
It depends on your taste in a way this is more horror second is more action I do think the second one is better tho. Better character development and just one of the greatest action movies of all time.
It is so hard for me to believe you guys haven't seen this classic. To see this for the first time is really something. At least I can kind of experience that through your guy's eye with this reaction. You guys are awesome. Please keep watching the classics. So looking forward to T2. You guys are in-store for a great time with these movies. I'd leave out the last 2 in the franchise. All they do scew with the time-line and the lore of the first two films.
“Two naked guys 😮” : totally my response as an elementary kid somehow being allowed to watch this. 😅 I also remembered being scared of that a terminator was really going to go around killing people.
I’d highly recommend the directors cut of the second movie. And really try to get a version that has the theatrical ending, because even though no one wants you to go past the second movie, the more open ended feeling of that ending fits the movie better than the cheesey hopeful ending most other reactors have been watching.
@@charlesedward5047 To me it's trite, cheesy, and very contrived. It doesn't fit at all with the type and tone of story that T1 and T2 are, and feels disconnected and out of place. Imo the OG ending is fitting and is much more impactful. It gives you something to think about after and chew on. For me it is a satisfying way to end the story, because I don't need things to be tied up in a bow or have a happily ever after, as life rarely turns out that way. I don't hate the other movies (don't love them either, they're just meh and unnecessary 😂) and see them as alternate timeline side stories, not part of the actual storyline of the first 2 movies. So I'm with you on T2 being the ending. Sidenote: I did like the Sarah Conner Chronicles tv show quite a bit, but only watched it once when it first aired. Now I don't remember most of the details, so my opinion of it may change with a rewatch.
Yes to extended with original theatrical ending. Only way to go. It is mostly extended, but there is a sequence that is slightly different from the theatrical cut. All for the better.
WHAT???????????? You guys have never seen these??? No... impossible. My world just came crashing down. BTW, "Black Rain" is a major bro flick. Put it on the list.
As animal lovers, Octokrool... In the last scene, Sarah had a German Shepherd with her. Kyle told her they use dogs to know a Terminator from a human. Woof🐾!! Great reaction cuties! You're going to love T2😎. Looking forward to it!
Interesting note: Harlan Ellison found out originally James Cameron had ripped off two stories that were adapted as episodes of the 1960s black and white TV show called The outer limits. One story was called "the soldier" and the other, "demon with the glass hand". Those two stories were the end result for The Terminator. He sued him for plagiarism, and won out of court. So at the conclusion of the film, the makers of the Terminator series gave the late Harlan Ellison his credit.
I really like Terminator 2, like all the films that James Cameron made! I advise you to watch the Terminator 2 Extended director's version, because you will see many important moments.
The blue hair guy at the beginning was Bill Paxton, and the tobright was the bad guy in Cobra with Stallone. Plus, the 2nd naked guy is Ringo from Tomb Stone, and the guy from Abyss
That was so much fun, you two are nuts, but in the good way. Arnold originally was supposed to play Kyle Reese but he and James Cameron had a conversation where Arnold thought it would be more believable for him to play the Terminator. James Cameron didn't think Arnold would want to play the bad guy in a movie so soon in his career, so good on him for taking the chance. Really looking forward to your reactions to T2.
Guys, great reaction!! Now you have to react to Terminator 2: Judgment Day (Extended Version) - 1991. To finish your Terminator experience, then watch the Terminator 2:3D Ride.
Imagine being John, you rescue your dad from the extermination facility, become good friends knowing that you are going to have to send him back in time to: one, get busy with your mom and two, die.
There are three versions of Terminator 2: theatrical, special, & extended. Make sure to only pick from the first two since those have the same canon ending as determined by James Cameron himself.
I loved your response to the into, "Damn, that actually looks a little BETTER than current year L.A.!" LMAO Also, as "pick up lines" go, "I came across time for YOU!" sounds pretty damn good. I can see how it would work. Such a great movie. I kind of amazed you two never watched it before!
T2 is the better movie and perhaps the greatest action movie ever made, but for the budget James Cameron had to work with, it's incredible what he got done. No CG at all was used in this movie because it wasn't available in 1984, and given the budget, the effects are still pretty impressive. They look a lot better than some CG today, which just looks fake. At times you can tell it's a robot and not Schwarzenegger, like a few shots of him after he pops his eye out, but they're brief and you're not staring at it for long. It's still pretty mind-blowing for the time. James Cameron and Steven Spielberg were masters and they made movies that age incredibly well in terms of effects.
@@GGGritzererminator 2 is better bro and anybody can tell u. This is a classic but terminator 2 was just done even better which is how it should be. It also depends on taste this is more on the horror side while the sequel is more on the action story.

There’s 2 deleted scenes at the end where you see a technician find the cpu chip from the terminator and conceals it from the police and when Sarah is put into the ambulance the camera pans up to show the name Cyberdyne Sytems on the factory wall.
It's crazy being 40, and growing up with all these movies you've been reacting to. Watching reactions like y'all's let me relive the first time watching these. Pretty cool. Keep it up
7:00 - Fun fact: While the crew was shooting action stuff in the studio, James Cameron and Arnold snuck off to do this scene. They didn't have any shooting permits, so they went into a secluded neighborhood. James walked up to someone's house and offered them $1000 cash to use their car for "a shot in an action movie." Arnold got into costume in the street, and they used brass knuckles to punch out the window, get in and do the shot of him starting the car.
fun fact for you james camron had a nightmare about a machine trying to kill him and that's how the terminator was born. also when i 1st saw this my god it was amazing. i maybe saw this movie throughout my life at least a billion times. and it's such a fantastic movie also just you wait til you watch the 2nd one. looking forward to you reacting to that.
a nice touch at 19:40 is that the terminator is scanning the entrance and structural integrity of the barricade to calculate how fast he needs to go with his car to smash through it Another smart touch is that during the precinct massacre, the cops are getting killed because they're falling back on training and expectations of normalcy, IE. you pump revolver and rifle rounds into someone, even with bullet proof vests you expect them to go down or atleast flinch, not just have zero reaction while immediately opening fire. No one is living long enough to see him do it to warn anyone else + he was even calculating their movement when they moved behind cover and firing through it.
Don't forget, Reese grew up being told the stories about Sarah and how bad ass she was. Not just from John but from those that survived with here. Her photo just solidified his thoughts.
Absolutely it's like falling in love with a historical figure from the past and wished you had met them after hearing so much about them for perhaps all one's life and then meeting her in person to discover she's more than what you could have imagined that's true love pure and simple.
The kid at the end that takes Sarah's photo... I'm sitting here thinking "He looks so familiar". I finally had to IMDb it... He plays Rodrigo in Three Amigos!
I'm excited you guys are finally getting around to watching this, but mostly because I know that must mean Terminator 2 is coming next and that's one my favourites.
Funny that you should mention the "fisting" as a Mortal Kombat fatality. The actor he punched went on to play Shao Khan in Mortal Kombat: Annihilation.
I’m so excited for you guys to watch the sequel. PLEASE make sure you watch the version of the second movie that was in theaters (theatrical release). I don’t mind if you watch the extended version as long as it has the original ending. The ending is key! Love your channel. Keep them coming. “I’ll be back.” 😎
When recommending the versions of T2, make sure to avoid saying "extended" b/c that's the one w/ the alternate ending. What you want to recommend besides the theatrical version is the special edition.
@@MarCuseus You're describing them as extended, but they're officially named as "special edition" & "extended cut". Both have most of the deleted scenes, but the latter has the alternate ending as well as the sequence in which the T-1000 searches John's room.
The thing that makes Terminator so unique is that, in most apocalyptic scenarios at the time, the stories have humanity trying one last desperate gamble to avoid extinction. Not here. The entire reason that the Terminator is sent back in time is that it is the machines last ditch, Hail Mary attempt to stave of their own extinction. Like Reese explains to the doctor. “Their defense grid was smashed! We’d won.”
Your reaction to Terminator 2 isn't available to watch in the UK apparently! I've just gotten around to watching it, or try to but it can't be viewed all of a sudden. It was fine to watch last night when I saved it for later (now) When will it be able to be viewed over here again?
Kyle was sent back to the past so that he could change the events that happened in the past and shape the present. Kyle found out that his mission was more difficult than he thought and he had to take a lot of risks in order to achieve his goal. As a result, the first film would start with a paradox. During the year 2029, Kyle was also a soldier working with John, whose mission was to save Sarah and get her pregnant. In short, Kyle and Sarah's son, John Connor, was responsible for all the events in the future and past, specifically 2029, because his existence meant he could thwart Skynet. Terminator films will get more confusing in the future. Terminator is like Back To The Future, but with more action and paradoxes that lead to multiple timelines and no conclusion for the heroes.
You should play Terminator Resistance that you could experience the future war event and also the result of Kyle's and Reprogrammed T800's doing affecting the war! It's AWESOME!
@@horimo8920 If u look the trailer it looks like generic COD game, but in reality it's like fallout NV or 4 but quick to understand. Look at Civvie 11 review this game, that's where I started to hook up to this game!
Gun Nut Trivia! The laser on the .45 needed a battery to power it, so it was hidden in Arnold's jacket and wires were hidden from the camera along the inside of his sleeves. The SPAS-12 shotgun is unique for being both a pump-action as well as automatic. Regular shot-shells and slugs have enough power to cycle automatically, and you use the pump for less powered rounds like non-lethal beanbags. So either depiction in movies and video games are accurate. Even in the 80s, a full-auto AR-18 and Uzi couldn't be sold off the shelves at a regular gun store. So James Cameron stated in an interview that the Terminator converted the weapons off-screen to do automatic fire.
This movie is one of my favorite examples of a time loop. John Connor sends Kyle Reese back in time to protect his mother allowing Kyle Reese to father John Connor, which allows John Connor to grow up, become the resistance leader, and send Kyle Reese back in time.
When you see T2 keep in mind that a good amount of things/scenes from this one are recreated in part two but slightly different. Such as a scene with Kyle is redone with Sarah and both can be seen played on a small TV/monitor.. It's a fun game you can play trying to spot them all, and it still makes a great sequel because they are just different enough a lot of pepole don't realize that a lot of T2 is full of reworked and tweaked scenes from The Terminator and I don't mean footage from the first film. You'll understand once you have noticed a few of them.
james cameron casted three people from this film in Aliens (Michael Biehn, Lance Henriksen and the late great Bill paxton). This is a highly effective sci-fi/horror film and a classic. The later films in the series tend to be more action/sci-fi, but the horror elements in the original I feel are what made it work.
This is a first time reaction for you guys wow and I am younger than both of you put together when I seen the movie 1 million times but I hope you guys enjoy it
As much as Cameron was making statements about AI/mankind needing to fear their own inventions as an extension of cold war nuclear fears - I appreciate that it's all wrapped in what's basicly a story about a woman having a stalker. He might as well be the Grim Reaper, just put a hood over the metal skull.
While Conan the Barbarian made him a household name, this is what made Arnold Schwarzenegger a superstar. Watching Terminator 2 is an absolute must. I also recommend watching Pumping Iron, Red Heat, Twins, Last Action Hero, Eraser and the Netflix series FUBAR
Fun Fact: The cop at 15:26 appears in the sequel and plays himself but as a normal citizen. He's the guy who is snapping pictures of the Terminator after he is thrown out of the window by the T-1000 during the MALL FIGHT.
Cameron is a wizard at how he crafts his stories. The set-ups and payoffs are what breaths life into his movies and separates him from most filmmakers. You can watch this movie as a love/romance story and... it totally works.
1. Linda Hamilton ROCKED. She's really built in T2. 2. Along with Lance Henriksen/Vukovich and Michael Biehn/Reese both also played in Aliens as Bishop and Hicks respectively. 3.We have limited AI now. 4.
Bill Paxton and Lance Henriksen: The only 2 actors to be killed by a Terminator, an Alien and a Predator.

Hyped for you guys to get to Terminator 2, this one is a classic but T2 is probably my favorite action movie ever. Still this one really changed the game.
Haven't they watched the movies already? (not on the channel)\
T2 is an amazing movie but ive always slightly preferred the original just because of how badass kyle reese is. the fact that he's a human who travelled through time to complete his mission knowing that he wouldnt make it back adds so much to his character
@@Buttsley1 that’s super fair. Kyle Reese is one of my favorite movie characters, he’s awesome.
This movie and the sequel are the greatest movies of all time!
Definitely hallmarks, ones that lead tot he birth of action movies as we know them.
Personally they're tied with Alien & Aliens
Terminator 2 and aliens or alien 2 are the best sequels ever.
@@cosesu8929 agreed
Personally I include T3 as well
It took me a while to realize that the reason the cops started chasing him is probably because Terminator just yeeted 2 guys and they are looking for a naked guy stealing clothes and he was stealing clothes, lol

The movie that made Arnold a household name, more than his bodybuilding fame. F’in amazing movie.
I would say _Conan_ .
I don't know. I think Hercules in New York was top quality filmmaking. Be sure to watch the original version where they dub his voice, badly. It's pretty hilarious.
Was thinking Conan also😊😎
Not saying Conan didn’t make him popular.
Man, after this you gotta watch T2! More budget, more action, more story, one of the best sequels ever made!
I can’t stress this enough. T2 is a historical masterpiece.
@@Muckduckly, still not as good a Terminator film as the original though.................
Way better than GGGritzer's idiotic opinion
No thanks.
Facts, overlooked by idiots, maybe. Not me.
Still one of the best action movies. A real breakthrough along with the second part, incredible.

He realized he was a black guy in a horror movie and ran before he got killed.

One of the things often overlooked is some of the visuals and effects were groundbreaking in 1984. Particularly the basic terminator robot at the end. T2 takes that X10. It's one of the all-time greats, but the first one is a great setup.

Lance Henriksen, Mel Gibson, Tom Selleck, Sylvester Stallone and Richard Gere were considered for the role.
Bruce Springsteen, Treat Williams (RIP), Scott Glenn, Tommy Lee Jones, Sting, and Matt Dillon were considered for Kyle Reese.
Lea Thompson, Lisa Langolis, Rosanna Arquette, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Jessica Harper were considered for Sarah Connor.
Thanks for the info!

On the second one being better, I don't know if it's that simple. It's definitely a bigger action movie and it's basically the quintessential summer blockbuster, but I think the first movie is more of a horror. Reminds me of Alien vs Aliens (also a James Cameron sequel)

Can't wait to see the reaction to T2..the jump from this to IMO the greatest action movie of all time is nothing short of insane even now.
I’d highly recommend the directors cut of the second movie. And really try to get a version that has the theatrical ending, because even though no one wants you to go past the second movie, the more open ended feeling of that ending fits the movie better than the cheesey hopeful ending most other reactors have been watching.
The alternate ending is so incredibly lame, I really hate it 😬
@@themourningstar338I really don't mind the alternate ending to T2, maybe because I only watch 1 and 2...the other movies don't exist.

Oh shit .... didn't know ya'll haven't done this series. Let's Go!!!
I advise you to watch the Terminator 2 Extended director's version, because you will see many important moments.
there is no extended directors version 🤦♀

I was lit when I first saw Terminator 2: Judgement Day. The end was so colorful...😵💫🥴😭

7:00 - Fun fact: While the crew was shooting action stuff in the studio, James Cameron and Arnold snuck off to do this scene. They didn't have any shooting permits, so they went into a secluded neighborhood. James walked up to someone's house and offered them $1000 cash to use their car for "a shot in an action movie." Arnold got into costume in the street, and they used brass knuckles to punch out the window, get in and do the shot of him starting the car.

also just you wait til you watch the 2nd one. looking forward to you reacting to that.
a nice touch at 19:40 is that the terminator is scanning the entrance and structural integrity of the barricade to calculate how fast he needs to go with his car to smash through it
Another smart touch is that during the precinct massacre, the cops are getting killed because they're falling back on training and expectations of normalcy, IE. you pump revolver and rifle rounds into someone, even with bullet proof vests you expect them to go down or atleast flinch, not just have zero reaction while immediately opening fire.

Amen. Every sequel was nowhere near the original masterpiece!
The unanswered question in all Terminator movies. What happened to Pugsley?

4. If this wasn't a movie the ammunition would not have been available on the gun shop counter.
5. Ginger's boyfriend Matt must be a lousy lay if she needs rock and roll to "rock and roll".🙄
6. Watching people react to the eye operation is worth watching this all by itself.
7. "Terminator II Judgment Day" is the action movie GOAT.
Love this classic film, but I love the second one even better. It really expands the story and the characters so much, and the soundtrack is epic. One of my top 5 of all time.
Second was better sfx, certainly not a better film. Too toned down & glitzy...........
2nd one is better. Better action, better character development. This is a classic but the second just took it up a notch.
@@brazyfilmo3121, not better, by any means. Completely toned down, riddled with goofs, no danger like the original & the T1000 had about 5 opportunities to kill his target & didn't. It was really sad that Cameron sacrificed storytelling for money making. Prime example of where more is actually a lot less. If you listen to what was said in the original, there never should have been a sequel. All of which could have been explained in the opening narrative, sadly it wasn't.
@@GGGritzer your looking at it from a horror perspective. It was made to be action which it was. Just depends on your taste overall terminator 2 was more impressive in numbers, critics and consider the greatest action movie.
@@brazyfilmo3121, T2 had a load of stinker goofs & unexplained things & was an impressive (from an SFX perspective) buddy/action film. The first was a better Terminator film.
" ... Does he have pants ?" "... Are they even real ?" 🤔🤷🏽♀️.. LMAO 🤣 my dudes
T2 is considered one of if not the best sequel's of all movie's.
Hey! This is one of your Subs from Joplin, Missouri. I enjoy your reaction videos so much. You're both crazy fun! Terminator 2: Judgement Day is amazing! I'd love for you guys to react to it.
You need to watch Terminator 2 and Predator NOWWWWW 🤣
Fun fact: Bill Paxton is the only person to appear in all 3 legendary sci-fi films. From The Terminator to Predator 2 to Aliens.
im starting to doubt these reaction channels; find it hard to believe these guys never saw this movie
Yeah no way guys their age have never seen the terminator
Anyone that didn't notice it when the Terminator was looking through the phone book for Sarah Connor's name, it was also pointing at *John Connor* name at 8:49, bottom, left-hand corner.
Good catch!
@@reneedennis2011 A UA-cam channel called *Heavy Spoilers* pointed it out in his video about this film.
@@Renegade2786 Cool 😊!
Whaaaaa?? Wow I’m surprised you guys haven’t seen this one until now!
The Terminator is a great Sci Fi film, but T2 is an absolute ground breaking masterpiece!
First is a WAY better Terminator film. Second was made on the success of the original with a myriad of goofs. Sad when storytelling is replaced with moneymaking...................
Sad when GGGritzer has no idea what he's talking about
