    It's been a lot of fun riding these bikes back-to-back. What a great way to really see the differences between two very good bikes! Again, I would be happy with either one of these bikes as my short travel bike for this season... could literally flip a coin. They're different but I appreciate them both for what they are! Enjoy and thanks for watching!

      @@mtbyumyum P.S. I emailed Salt Cycles for a quote on the USA frame, so hopefully you get some benefit if I buy from them. I'm coming from a Trek Procaliber hard-tail, with all XX1 components on it, which I'm going to transfer over to the Exie frame.

      @@mtbyumyum It's getting built for me right now, there's a bunch of new graphics and color schemes available (I don't think I like them as much as the previous version logo/sticker designs) and they're transferring all the SRAM XX1 stuff off my Trek Procaliber, as well as the carbon wheels, carbon bars, carbon seatpost, etc, and I went with the FOX Factory 34 SC fork instead of the 32 SC I have on the Trek. Can't wait to do my first ride on it next week.

      It's a hell of a bike! I'm still getting used to it, since I've only ever ridden hardtails, but once I've got the suspension dialed in, I think I'm going to be faster on the Exie than I am on my Procaliber, even though the Procaliber only weighs 19.6 lbs with pedals, and my Exie weighs in at 23.4 lbs., With pedals also.
      LOVE this thing, it's a weapon.

    Someone’s got yumyum dripped out in the Nike’s.. lookin good bro! Loving my T429 I picked up from Salt Cycles, definitely more “boring” than the Stumpy but I’m riding faster up & down, and spending less time nearly killing myself. The enduro build has been perfect for me as I only own one bike at a time and slightly heavier. And the suspension is more set it and forget it type feeling… Keep it up!

      Exie fixed a few things compared to the Ridley, one of them is the super steep st angle, the exie is a more comfortable all day bike compared to the ripely, but not as flexible as the Ripley that can be built up or down depending on your goals

      Had Ripley last year, on Exie this year. Depends what kind of rider you are. I`m Exie guy, but still sometimes I hit VERY hard trails with it, it handles them very much and in all other green-blue light black and pedally fire roads so much better option. Biggest difference is the geometry. 519 reach on XL, I feel much more comfortable and the Exie fits my body much better then the Ripley

    Hey Yumyum, Thanks for the vid. If you do a video comparing the Mach 4 SL to the T429, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the reach measurements between the two bikes, with the Mach 4 SL being 437mm (120mm fork) and the T429 being 460mm (size medium). How does this difference translate to ride feel? Should someone currently riding the size medium T429 size up to a large Mach 4 SL to get a more comparable reach measurement (462mm), or does the slacker seat tube angle of the Mach 4 SL balance things out?
    Cheers!

      @miketolin5621 6 місяців тому +1

      I rode a Ripley for a couple years and now I have an Exie. The biggest difference is Ripley is much more plush through rocky rooty terrain and the Ripley is slacker so going down steep trail sections feel much more capable. The Exie is lighter and more efficient so it wares you out less on long rides and is faster if the trails are less technical.

    My biggest question is climbing tech: which one is most adaptable in terms of pedal positive when you’re climbing up, super chunder, in terms of seat angle and traction and a pedal positive response from the rear. I’ve been on flex stay, they buck you - which one is more like a tractor, crawler and adapts to techis climbs, as opposed to bucking you off line up rocks?

    • @mtbyumyum
      @mtbyumyum  Рік тому +2

      Both will be wildly better than a single pivot bike in terms sticking to the ground and finding traction. I currently own a single pivot / flex stays bike and completely understand what you're talking about being bucked... I think of it more as the bike deflecting off the obstacle instead... That said, the Pivot is the clear winner here. Like a tractor!

Now I’m back in New England and riding is either technical narrow twisty turny or free ride park with big drops and jumps. I’m considering trading in my bikes for an Exie and a Ripmo. I ride a STEVO and this bike is a total transformer. Slack out the geo, put on some aggressive rubber, soften the rear suspension and it transforms into an Enduro bike. Steepen the geo, put on some lightweight fast-rolling tires, firm up the rear suspension and it transforms into a Dwoncountry bike. I currently have mine set up in Downcountry mode and it's plenty sharp on easier trails yet still rails on the steep, rough, and fast.
