    Corporate taxes don’t much affect a product’s price, since they are mitigated through capital expenditures. Labor rate have a much larger impact. Even if it costs an extra 30% to build a bike in the USA, it is still worth it.

      Thanks for the question! The Exie is way fun. For so many places it would be a fantastic bike. I do live alongside a massive trail network that's predominantly flow/jump/double black DH runs, and that's far more Ripmo territory. I'd love to have one, but Ibis should probably focus on getting them to folks who ride more "normal" stuff more often first!

    Great riding footage (again!). Short stems might be trending , but I’m rocking a 50mm ranger on my HD5 (shifts more of my weight to the front tire during climbs). • @JeffKendallWeed
      @JeffKendallWeed  3 роки тому +2

      Mike, for a bike like this, you'd only really "need" ~80mm of drop. A bike like this isn't built for jumps or crazy steep terrain. I think they did fine, TBH. I'll bet ~30% of these get built with traditional, non-dropper posts, too.

    • @IbisBicycles
      @IbisBicycles 3 роки тому +10

      @@JeffKendallWeed We make the Exie in our US factory. One of the benefits is that it allows us to quickly iterate. The bike Jeff is riding in this video is an early prototype. We're big proponents of long dropper posts and we've actually altered our layup and manufacturing process so that we can insert the dropper further into the frame. Most medium sizes riders can run a 175 or longer dropper.

      obtain (goods or a service) from an outside or foreign supplier, especially in place of an internal source.

      What’s bad about pnw he runs 50 mm btw

    • @JeffKendallWeed
      @JeffKendallWeed  3 роки тому

      It's the older PNW stem in the 50mm length. The overall size of the bike felt great for everything but aggressive cornering- that was when I wanted a tad more bike.

    Does anyone have an idea when all the Ripley builds will be available?

    • @JeffKendallWeed
      @JeffKendallWeed  3 роки тому

      Hey Lee, it's hard to say- there are parts shortages from literally every manufacturer. If you want to get the best answer, try emailing askchuck@ibiscycles.com, or call them at 831-461-1435.

      @@JeffKendallWeed Thanks bud! I have heard spring '22, but also heard some manufacturers are having 700 day lead times for parts, which takes us to summer '23. I'll shoot him an email and see what's up. Crazy times!

    Is that simple green bike wash?

      @JeffKendallWeed  3 роки тому

      No, it's just regular stuff that I got at Home Depot. Forgive me, but I'm a bad example!

      @@JeffKendallWeed it's okay. I usually put dish soap in a bucket, but my brother was looking for a recommendation and I had just seen an ad for simple Green bike wash and I thought what you were using looked like it. 😊

    How does this to compare to the ripley

    • @JeffKendallWeed
      @JeffKendallWeed  3 роки тому +1

      Ripley is noticeably heavier. The Ripley is probably the most versatile bike in the Ibis line up. The Exie is a lot more efficient for flatter, rolling terrain. The Ripley pulls ahead once you get to jump trails, flow trails, and steeper stuff.

      Yes, I did a few videos on it and it's an AWESOME bike park/freeride bike. I need to send it back to Rocky, but I've been too slammed cranking out Exie content!

      Spur and Ripley AF are VERY similar, only the Spur is longer with a steeper head angle than the Ripley AF. The Exie is a whole different category.
