Another simple trick: use sensors (storage & power) combined with a beacon so that your extractors tell you when there's no more resource or the canister is full. I put blue on working extractor and when it's green I know it needs my attention.
@@Ikller-xh7qq Oh I only used the storage one for my game. But for registering the stop I'd make Power > Battery > Extractor setup. So that the battery is only getting power after the extractor consumes none. (Providing it does not consume power when not working. Haven't tested that really).
Another thing that's useful early on is to use the tractor as the main transport. Large rovers are hard to power, but you can make large rovers a trailer for the tractor and it costs minimal power, but increases storage space by a ton.
this for some reason doesnt work at all when used in the surface resources, in fact its faster to dig surface resources then it is to dig terrain resources
Maybe you don't do that correctly. Well, try to see if your tool is showing resources in the area, so when you go digging, dig a hole in the middle of a large deposit and switch to "add terrain" quickly, then switch back to "collect". This tip also works by just getting to the depot and adding land, but be careful, you can get up to 5 resources at once. And there it is gg
It does save time in the collecting aspect, I find that I usually have to sit there and scan to find the rest or even see if there is anymore. I usually average about the same either way
Actually, the paver and drill thing can become even better: If you accelerate to maximum speed, then let go of the accelerate button and activate drills without trying to 'drive', the rover will just scoot along at the speed it was at when you let go. It will eventually slow down, but it will still go really fast for a while.
if you have the leveling block unlocked you can scroll to that in your backback and use that as a slot for a soil canister even if it isnt full and it still works as though it was in a normal slot
Adding to this, you can in general use your crafting slot as an extra space, I commonly have it set to tethers so I can carry 1 extra compound/set of tethers on the go.
I am not done with the game but the strategy I have used for every planets pylons so far is to get a tractor with two medium generators on it (you can find pre made medium generators on the starting planet in wreckage.) And just bring a bunch of coal and five packagers.
Put a medium resource canister or 2 point storage object atop the plunger of the auto extractor and you won't need any arm to load the storage. The auto extractor will load it for you. Just power the extractor and go!
Watching these tips makes me happy to play on console because all those control tips are pretty intuitive when using a controller (the shoulder buttons rotate items and flip pages and operate the auxiliary spots on your backpack
I found a very useful trick a long time ago in which you have a little bit of soil in a canister and you research the levelling block and you put your soil inside the backpack printer and it still lets you use your soil.
I never heard of Astroneer till now or I'm a big fan of space exploration simulators but I like how WALL-E, TRON styled, cute and state of art the game and artstyle is. ❤

How about if a qt rtg will fully power a large rover indefinitely. Just add a med generator. For extra power when you need it. Not an impressive tip but makes shredder caravans to have more range
In my experience on xbox, if your using a paver and drill and they are turned on, using your move forward bind slows you down. If you let go, start rolling then immediately activate the P&D you will go for alot longer as long as you're not going up a steep hill or road.
I think it should have an button to locate where you died, because you need to get closer to show up the backpack location. I died in some moutain and I can't found my backpack
