I'm wondering if it'd be better build the full farm near the core and have the train bring the scrap to the base or have the farm in the base and use the train to bring astronium
I just spent 4 hours on my base making this. I used my tier 3 drill vehicle to dig down the the middle of the earth finding astrononium and then it took me 4 hours to set up every thing. This helped me complete my base to the max thank you. I CAN MAKE ANYTHING NOW LETSSS GOI
For anyone having a problem with overflow and backup using this setup here's a quick easy fix that should help out: I found a super easy simple fix for your problem, set up everything in the video exactly how it's shown except do not connect the storage sensor PIN to the trade platform but instead connect the storage sensor PIN to a count repeater, set the count repeater to its lowest setting of 2, then connect the count repeater PIN to the trade platform, also set the storage sensor mode for full or empty then start the system with the trade platform. What that will do is when the medium storage is full it'll activate the storage sensor once bringing the count repeater to 1 then when it is emptied it'll activate the storage sensor again bringing the count repeater to 2 which will reactivate the trade platform no delays no overflows and it's maintenance-free I hope this helps.
I made the same setup, except it doesn’t work for some reason. I have it going into an extra large scrapper, and yet by the time the trade rocket gets back there’s still jump jets left in the storage so it backs up. Is there a way to fix this? edit: Okay, so I did fix it. I disconnected the storage sensor from the trade platform and changed it from “full or empty” to “empty or not empty”. I then put a count repeater set to 2 on top of it, and then connected that to the trade platform. The sensor would activate when the trade platform dispensed the jump jets onto the storage (first out of two activations) and then once it’s empty, it activates again which trips the count repeater to activate the trade platform. So, if anyone else has this issue I recommend you do this. And yes, at least for me, my scrapper still runs constantly with this modification.
you could get the setup: 2 soil canisters: 3 scrap using medium buggy horns given you are willing to unpack them all before putting them into the scrapper also: 2 soil canisters: 3 scrap using (oxygenator/medium wind turbine) given you are willing to unpack+put them in the shredder and use a trade platform to loop aluminium (more scrap is produced in the process than used to make aluminium) Edit, also: 2 soil canisters: 3 scrap Using tall storage if you are willing to unpack+put them in the shredder

Did nobody notice that if the shredder(s) don’t shred fast enough, the system gets messed up since some off the jump jets get placed/stuck on the atronium storage?
If you change the med storage got the jump jets to a silo and change the sensor to empty or not empty it will send the rocket when it emptys and will take "two loads" but will only launch the rocket when the silo emptys. I also put a XL scrapper on a large rover with extra slots so it doesn't pause the scrapping at all. This took me Abt 2 hours to figure out so kuya could fix his vid so it's reliable.
I usually go with wolframite on calador. V-Tol and winch makes lugging large canisters easy enough. But my auto scrapper is a lazy one attached to an auto fuel depot. Scrap automatically, trade ammonium when either a wind or solar panel gain or lose power (basically constant)
Just another thing I thought might be important to this video: sturdysquashes drop astronium. While this is very inefficient and is rare, you might just want to add a few sturdysquash farms for some potentially useful byproducts.
so i followed this but i used a XL platform C with 3 large shredders and then one of the large cans on the same platform for cheaper automation since the large can is free, Thanks for the video! it really helped me a ton not to automate the train :(
I have one of those platforms at the base but, I have fun putting the XL shredder on the large rover and going with a couple of medium silos on my butt scrapping everything I can fit in the shredder. I also take a research chamber at times.

Since the Rails update is now out, you can have a scheduled train arrive and depart, I don’t know if that does work but it would automate the setup a lot more.
*Astroneer was the most fascinating puzzle game i ever played.* I solved it with 3 buddies. We all were clueless and figured things out ourselves over the course of a week. The puzzle got repetitive tho after i think leaving the planet. I think there would've been more hours of content if we didn't know which planets contained which resources. We would've had to explore much more and discover materials, maybe even finding out how to use them. I rly wish i could re-experience this puzzle for the first time. It's been a while so if theres an option to disable crafting recipes or guides on where to find materials, i will come back. Do these options exist?
Now the game implements missions, which you can follow or not, it's up to you. But if you do, they will guide you gently through most of the things you can do in the game. I'm not sure about what you mean with disabling recipes

Using a wide mod on leveling mode on the floor of a gateway chamber, you can then collect infinite dirt from it using a player drill or crane. Have a crane supplying the soil centrifuge and it's completely automatic and afkable. If on a server, you can glitch the crane to keep drilling without any buttons pressed. Alt tab and profit. Bonus is that it's server friendly, since it minimally modifies terrain and doesn't contribute to save file bloat.
tried making the first farm, it may be a little broken in the current update as the soil centrifuge will overload the small printer with resin, causing it to overload and spit resin everywhere. I found a workaround but it requires babysitting the farm
I remember finding out how to make infinite rocket thrusters - if you recycled the solid fuel thruster it would give 2 scrap, which could be traded for 1 aluminum and 1 ammonium, making a new thruster, though im not sure if it works anymore
If you all really want infinite scrap you can use autominers. You won't be mining resin though but wolframite. You can then smelt it in furnace and then print flood lights. They are worth 1.5 scrap. You can automate this fully and you won't have to go mine for soil every time. If you thing it is slow you can always add more miners, autoarms, etc.

You can use a small printer on repeat to craft the drill mod I think Because the small printer can print all the stuff from the backpack I'm pretty sure
bro you need 5.666666~ scrap per nanocarbon alloy (if you get all resources from trade platform) or basically, 2 astronium = 1 nanocarbon alloy, get 400 astronium, you just got yourself 200 nanocarbon alloys

Im pretty sure that is the last wandets way quest I believe you just have to get a probe scanner and put it into a probe and the wander will appear with a camera and it will prompt you this an option to take a photo with him
the first design is really slow cause the devs of this game are boring people. a canister now only gives 0.25 of a scap, meaning its horrendously slow to use and barely produces enough scrap to be useful
@@KuyaGameAstroneer Then it would be fully automatic. Plus resin is on the surface, wile astonium is in the outer core. So a long train line is not needed.
@@vamadgaming6424 some things were made renewable in a recent update due to the new tapper item, which could possibly lead to renewable scrap from glowsticks glowsticks aren't completely automatable though sadly, so you would need to set up a macro or something to craft from the backpack

I wish this video was better. I cant for the life of me figure out whats wrong with my setup. When i try looking for comments that might help me. Its just kuya telling people that they didnt watch his video well enough, and that if they still cant figure it out, join his discord, send him screenshots and see what he has to say? Man thats a lot of work you know. I think its probably easier to find a different farm. I wish there was an updated video, or even a pinned comment about what typically causes the problem where the jump jets replace the astronium instead of going all in the right storage.
For anyone wanting to know of a workaround so this farm actually works, swap out the large shredder for a large storage silo b with 12 medium shredders. This will make it so the auto arm can get all the jump jets off the platform in time for when the rocket comes back. I also think it helps if you use 2 auto arms pulling jets, and 2 auto arms moving the scrap into your final storage. Other than those changes i think the farm should be working perfectly fine. If youre still having trouble, Auto arms are a pain to use so if they arent working, try power cycling them. If they still dont work it might be how you lined up the auto arm and its predefined input/output areas. I believe mine are set up so that 1 arm does the left 6 shredders on the silo, and the other auto arm gets the right 6 shredders, even though they are clipping into eachother thats how close the 2 auto arms are to each other. One final note: Make sure when you set up the storage sensor that when you place the pins down on the floor, no other objects get highlighted when you do so. I think it might be possible to easily accidentally hook up the sensor pins too close to your auto arms which potentially could cause issues?
Nevermind the astro to scrap farm was working for almost all day with my changes, and it just started backing up again somehow and i cant figure out why atm.
Hi, the farm works fine for most people, you could try to spin 180 the platform holding the trade platform, maybe your problem is related to the platform's storage priority
@@KuyaGameAstroneer (QUICK EDIT) I wrote this comment up to completion and then somehow something clicked and i understood what you meant by the platform priority which i completely forgot existed. Only issue is i have the farm laid out exactly like you. I'm starting to think at this point it might be worth investing in your community and getting on a call with you if possible. Dont worry about having to read every detail in here its mostly not gonna be an issue I'm thinking now. Its 4x compound on the left medium storage, also with 4x astromium when full. Then the right medium storage has the sensor and everything set up correctly so that when the rocket comes back it should prioritize dumping the jets to the right storage as its empty, and the left one has 4 compound and astronium. Once the rocket detects empty it will take off with another load and then it continues to loop. - (ORIGINAL POST) How do you know there arent a lot of people trying the farm and giving up? Its not like its mandatory to complain in a comments section idk. But yeah i got it working again. But genuinely i dont understand how a large shredder is supposed to scrap 8 jump jets before the rocket comes back from its flight? I may actually have to just take you up on those offers about sending screenshots? I hope that still a thing. But yeah my solution has been to use 2 auto arms taking the jump jets to the large silo (tall one) which has all the medium(?) shredders allowing more to be done. I wound up kinda needing to hook up button repeaters for the arms, and i had to use the super small platform like A(?) cuz you can put ''em closer together. I think one arm is doing basically one side of the large silo, and the other arm does the other side. do the devs change the scrap value of resin now? I shredded soil canister but only get 0.25 scrap, so 4 resin = 1 scrap or 1 soil = 1 scrap, not 2 to 1
I'm having an issue the rocket goes off when the storage is empty as expected, but also when it's full (right after it arrives it goes off again, and when it comes back (from the second consecutive time) it unloads the rockets on the platform that has the astronium (as it loads the astronium it unloads on those empty spaces...) any suggestions?

this doesnt work if your using the extrator since it cant keep up with the trade platform so instead you have to use the storage sensor on the first medium storage with the compound and set it to full or notfull so then it will only get set off when there is 4 astro in the trade platform and 4 in the medium storage
awesome video there is just 1 small problem, a small canister of soil will make 4 resin that would make 1 scrap, so its a 1-1 ratio not 1-2 (sorry) also i watched 4 times trying to find the marble still can't find it

I need some help with the second farm, when the trade platform arrives the auto arm hasn't picked up all the solid fuel jetpacks yet so some of the remaining jetpacks are placed into the spot where the astronium needs to be and I have to take it out. If there is a way to fix this then that would be awesome. Also I built the first farm and it was really good, thanks for the tutorial, It helped me out a lot!
@@jizzy8816 I disconnected the storage sensor line from the medium storage and added a count repeater on the setting of 2, then hooked up the count repeater hook to the medium storage and linked up the storage sensor hook to the count repeater, I got the fix from another user...
The Astronium setup he shows in this video doesn't work exactly like it should, at 7:42 you can see the rockets clogging up the astronium side of the trade platform and that's because the shredders can't destroy the rockets in time for the next shipment, to fix this you need to scrap all 8 jets at once but even then it may begin to jam but at a much slower rate.
Like I said in the beginning, this contraption is balanced between scrap rate and simplicity, of course you can make it more complicated by adding more automation and parts, but that was not the purpose of the video. Anyway when there is no more space for jets, the rocker is just going to wait until there is room to unload them. This is what you saw at the time stamp you mentioned 😊

Instead of a medium storage use a medium silo and change the storage sensor to empty or not empty and it should work

I remember finding out how to make infinite rocket thrusters - if you recycled the solid fuel thruster it would give 2 scrap, which could be traded for 1 aluminum and 1 ammonium, making a new thruster, though im not sure if it works anymore

If you all really want infinite scrap you can use autominers. You won't be mining resin though but wolframite. You can then smelt it in furnace and then print flood lights. They are worth 1.5 scrap. You can automate this fully and you won't have to go mine for soil every time. If you thing it is slow you can always add more miners, autoarms, etc.
That's another cool way to do it 😊

when the trade platform gets the jets it DOSES NOT UNLOADS THE THEM INTO THE SORAGE WHY?

bro you need 5.666666~ scrap per nanocarbon alloy (if you get all resources from trade platform) or basically, 2 astronium = 1 nanocarbon alloy, get 400 astronium, you just got yourself 200 nanocarbon alloys
If you change the med storage got the jump jets to a silo and change the sensor to empty or not empty it will send the rocket when it emptys and will take "two loads" but will only launch the rocket when the silo emptys. I also put a XL scrapper on a large rover with extra slots so it doesn't pause the scrapping at all. This took me Abt 2 hours to figure out so kuya could fix his vid so it's reliable.

There's an infinite soil bug in astroneer now, technically making it infinite
It is infinite. You can pick up and put down auto extractors in the exact same place and extract more resources.

Im pretty sure that is the last wandets way quest I believe you just have to get a probe scanner and put it into a probe and the wander will appear with a camera and it will prompt you this an option to take a photo with him

the first design is really slow cause the devs of this game are boring people. a canister now only gives 0.25 of a scap, meaning its horrendously slow to use and barely produces enough scrap to be useful
Farm 1 improvement: Use a auto extractor to supply resin instead of a soil centrifuge.

@@vamadgaming6424 some things were made renewable in a recent update due to the new tapper item, which could possibly lead to renewable scrap from glowsticks
glowsticks aren't completely automatable though sadly, so you would need to set up a macro or something to craft from the backpack

I wish this video was better. I cant for the life of me figure out whats wrong with my setup. When i try looking for comments that might help me. Its just kuya telling people that they didnt watch his video well enough, and that if they still cant figure it out, join his discord, send him screenshots and see what he has to say? Man thats a lot of work you know. I think its probably easier to find a different farm. I wish there was an updated video, or even a pinned comment about what typically causes the problem where the jump jets replace the astronium instead of going all in the right storage.
For anyone wanting to know of a workaround so this farm actually works, swap out the large shredder for a large storage silo b with 12 medium shredders. This will make it so the auto arm can get all the jump jets off the platform in time for when the rocket comes back.
I also think it helps if you use 2 auto arms pulling jets, and 2 auto arms moving the scrap into your final storage. Other than those changes i think the farm should be working perfectly fine.
If youre still having trouble, Auto arms are a pain to use so if they arent working, try power cycling them. If they still dont work it might be how you lined up the auto arm and its predefined input/output areas.
I believe mine are set up so that 1 arm does the left 6 shredders on the silo, and the other auto arm gets the right 6 shredders, even though they are clipping into eachother thats how close the 2 auto arms are to each other.
One final note:
Make sure when you set up the storage sensor that when you place the pins down on the floor, no other objects get highlighted when you do so.
I think it might be possible to easily accidentally hook up the sensor pins too close to your auto arms which potentially could cause issues?
Nevermind the astro to scrap farm was working for almost all day with my changes, and it just started backing up again somehow and i cant figure out why atm.
Hi, the farm works fine for most people, you could try to spin 180 the platform holding the trade platform, maybe your problem is related to the platform's storage priority

I wrote this comment up to completion and then somehow something clicked and i understood what you meant by the platform priority which i completely forgot existed. Only issue is i have the farm laid out exactly like you.
I'm starting to think at this point it might be worth investing in your community and getting on a call with you if possible. Dont worry about having to read every detail in here its mostly not gonna be an issue I'm thinking now.
Its 4x compound on the left medium storage, also with 4x astromium when full. Then the right medium storage has the sensor and everything set up correctly so that when the rocket comes back it should prioritize dumping the jets to the right storage as its empty, and the left one has 4 compound and astronium. Once the rocket detects empty it will take off with another load and then it continues to loop.

But yeah i got it working again. But genuinely i dont understand how a large shredder is supposed to scrap 8 jump jets before the rocket comes back from its flight?

But yeah my solution has been to use 2 auto arms taking the jump jets to the large silo (tall one) which has all the medium(?) shredders allowing more to be done. I wound up kinda needing to hook up button repeaters for the arms, and i had to use the super small platform like A(?) cuz you can put ''em closer together. I think one arm is doing basically one side of the large silo, and the other arm does the other side.
By the way kuya i genuinely appreciate your vids, theyve been immensely helpful with learning how to play the most unintuitive game ever 😉

do the devs change the scrap value of resin now? I shredded soil canister but only get 0.25 scrap, so 4 resin = 1 scrap or 1 soil = 1 scrap, not 2 to 1
I'm having an issue the rocket goes off when the storage is empty as expected, but also when it's full (right after it arrives it goes off again, and when it comes back (from the second consecutive time) it unloads the rockets on the platform that has the astronium (as it loads the astronium it unloads on those empty spaces...) any suggestions?
i believe i've solved it by adding a count repeater after the storage sensor, set to 2... i'll keep testing

this doesnt work if your using the extrator since it cant keep up with the trade platform so instead you have to use the storage sensor on the first medium storage with the compound and set it to full or notfull so then it will only get set off when there is 4 astro in the trade platform and 4 in the medium storage
1 astronium = 3 scraps, so it's actually easier to transport astronium to surface base
Or build automated railway that provides astronium directly to your base :D

awesome video there is just 1 small problem, a small canister of soil will make 4 resin that would make 1 scrap, so its a 1-1 ratio not 1-2 (sorry) also i watched 4 times trying to find the marble still can't find it

I need some help with the second farm, when the trade platform arrives the auto arm hasn't picked up all the solid fuel jetpacks yet so some of the remaining jetpacks are placed into the spot where the astronium needs to be and I have to take it out. If there is a way to fix this then that would be awesome. Also I built the first farm and it was really good, thanks for the tutorial, It helped me out a lot!

@@jizzy8816 I disconnected the storage sensor line from the medium storage and added a count repeater on the setting of 2, then hooked up the count repeater hook to the medium storage and linked up the storage sensor hook to the count repeater, I got the fix from another user...
I didn't notice that small printers can't make certain backpack items like drill mods

The Astronium setup he shows in this video doesn't work exactly like it should, at 7:42 you can see the rockets clogging up the astronium side of the trade platform and that's because the shredders can't destroy the rockets in time for the next shipment, to fix this you need to scrap all 8 jets at once but even then it may begin to jam but at a much slower rate.
Like I said in the beginning, this contraption is balanced between scrap rate and simplicity, of course you can make it more complicated by adding more automation and parts, but that was not the purpose of the video. Anyway when there is no more space for jets, the rocker is just going to wait until there is room to unload them. This is what you saw at the time stamp you mentioned 😊
Nice video man. I have one of these on Calidor but it auto extracts tungsten which I then turn into flood lights which scraps for 1.5. I should prolly switch to astronium but man I hate caves.
