It'd be really nice if we could increase or decrease the size of the terrain manipulator within the thresholds of the respective mods of their functionality. That way, you could have both a narrow and wide mod equipped at the same time and to be able to take full advantage of both of them in adventure mode.
THANK YOU SO MUCH. my perfectionism knows no bounds and me and my friends are starting a new adventure playthrough and i was going to cry if i had to rely on the flatten tool again.
It seems so simple here but in game jeez, they really need to make something that makes it that you can make a nice flat area anywhere. I am going insane ;c
I was struggling too, but I'm putting some more effort into this lately... Another tip is remember that the terrain tool is going to pave exactly from the polygon it's point at. So if we point at a polygon that's not perfectly flat, we will expand soil that is going to be just as slanted as the starting point
A year later, I finally find this! Bought the game a few months ago, and I've been cursing the floors the whole time. So glad to find the answer! This advice from you and TactileObject will help a lot, and earned my sub. Thanks folks!
From the title of the video I immediately thought it was a satirical video to flat earthers but I was still happily wrong, the content is like always enjoyable
4:54 a better 3d shape to show here would be the Rhombicuboctahedron. I know, it's a long word but just google it and imagine the planet as that shape. The leveling block is locking on to those flat parts. Great video btw, i always needed this info
Great tip! It's likely I'll extend a rail or something far enough to encounter this. If I got there, expecting a right angle, only to get a 45°, it would be... um.
@@TactileObject very encouraging! I'm new-ish and playing on switch and have been apprehensive about how much of a struggle doing fine-touch building and automation would be, but looking at your channel is helping :D
This game needs the ability to print 1. Base Foundations - a 1x1 block (like the leveling block) with locking features that snaps to the ground. 2. Building Blocks - a wide selection of 1x1, 1x2, 2x4, triangular, rounded blocks that has tier 1 sockets, that can snap to each other. 3. Plate Blocks - blocks of various sizes that can cap off tier 1 sockets. 4. Palette Table - A table with 10 customisable colour palettes (based on surfaces already in game) that can be cycled and stored as preset. While using the terrain tool is fine (with some skill and creativity), having players in multiplayers accidentally adjusting terrain is :|
I remember those days before v1.0 where Getting TrueFlat anywhere on the planet was a Skill. There used to be no Tool to make it happen as it does now past v1.0+
just before he said this is how you make the floor level and to follow the curvature i thought what if i tried the way its done, seconds later i was told i was right, now i gotta go sort my base out
What’s the difference between starting to flat the surface from the starting point, and somewhere that is extended from the starting point? Aren’t them supposed to be leveled to each other? Will I get a true flat if I don’t always start from “the starting point?” Can I make a starter point that is extended from another starting point?
If you want to get true flat, you should always start from soil generated with a leveling block. If you expand it accurately, it will be true flat (perpendicular to the center of the planet from the starting point). But be careful because when you stretch it our, it takes a few seconds to get to the same level. so at the borders it may not have the same angle if you are not careful
@@KuyaGameAstroneer this doesn't address his question though... Why would the flatten tool act differently from the original starting point versus a flat spot that was created using the original starting point?
@@TaterMater22 sorry this is a bit confusing if we don't use the right terminology 😅 what do you mean when you first refer to the "starting point" and when you refer to it the second time?
@@KuyaGameAstroneer also I would like to ask if in pc version when you use an hoverbord and solid fuel jetpack when it explode cause no fuel do u get softlock and cant move or its just console version ?
Do you mean by using the leveling block? You can put it anywhere, but only if you place it next to a gate the block will be perfectly perpendicular to the planet
@@KuyaGameAstroneer He means extending that 45 degree angle with the flattening tool if you are not near a gate. If possible, I think this would work as another way of getting a true flat, but only if you are exactly halfway between two gates, correct?
@@TaterMater22 the only way to get true flat is by using a cube, any other angle could be "any" random angle. If you are using the 45 degree angle generated by the cube, you can extend it, but it will continue to be perpendicular to the planet, it will not follow it's curve. Unfortunately there's no reliable way to get a real true flat that follow the curvature of the planet
Hey guys, sorta new player here. Love the video. Ive watched it probably like 5 times already because how inconsistent and confusing the terraforming is in this game. Did you guys point out that the alignment mod actually will create a level surface initially that for the most part cant curve with the planet? I found that the alignment mod is only not completely useless because without it wed essentially have nothing else lol. For example if you were to take the alignment tool and walk in any direction while using the tool to level out the floor, you will see that it will still ramp into the air, similarly to how it works without any alignment mod on at all. Ive also found that even if you can get the angle you want for a surface, that as you spread out regardless of what you use on the terraforming tool you will inevitablly get spots that arent consistent with the angle youve been working on. Eventually as you go in one direction flatening things out, if you turn back around and come back your angle will have changed & it wont meet up w the original location. The closest i have ever been able to get to having one true flat plane was by using the leveling tool near one of the planets like purple spires. However, even then the spot wasnt actually level, sure it was tuely flat, but i would have had to go dig for hundreds of feet before reaching a point where it would be technically level. At the moment it just looks like a giant shallow ramp. However even with all that work, i found it is still next to impossible to get a consistently flat plane to work with. It feels almost like they intentionally made the game impopssibly hard to terraform in. My dream of making a beautiful and immersive base to work out of and get automation going all around me i think might be pretty dead. I was even looking at if there were ways to solve my issues via mods, but sadly its all scripting via cheat engine, and i can tell thats just not gonna be ideal at all.
