Since last spring I have been trying to limit carbs and especially bread. I had a checkup and my blood sugar was normal the first time in forever I explained to my dr. What I did and she said calories are calories. But I just proved that is not true!

Absolutely correct, it is a myth that the food industry promotes, as once it is broken their rhetoric will fail. Dr Jason Fung, Dr Mindy Pelz and Dr Sten Ekberg also dispute your Drs theory, it’s out of date, out of touch and dangerous. BTW I have reversed T2D by overhauling my diet! It’s not mainstream yet as the food and pharmaceutical industry resist! Nothing to do with health, just money!!!

Great advice. Inflammatory foods do make insulin resistance worse. I've noticed that anything that dramatically spikes one's blood glucose or inflames like see oils are very bad, provide negative impacts for days afterward. Having said that it can be expensive to avoid seed oils as a gallon of olive oil tops $50 often now, three times of what it was.

I’ve tried taking bread, rice and tortillas out of my diet but I am having a hard time. It’s a cultural thing tbh. I am definitely not eating them as much as I used to though and if I do, I’m conscious of the serving size and have only a small amount. Seems to be working for me so far. No drastic spikes in sugar levels after consumption. If I do eat any of the things above, I jump on my stationary bike for at least 20 mins after my meal as a way to burn some calories. That helps a ton in keeping my levels low despite indulging a bit. It’s all trial and error and it’s taken me some time to figure out. I encourage anybody that suffers from diabetes or pcos like myself to keep playing with your diet to find the right fit and to track your sugar levels. You will notice trends after a while and you can adjust and improve. Kaits videos have educated me so much! Love love love your content. Thank you! ❤

It's absolutely better to make the required changes before you become a full blown insulin dependent type 2 diabetic like I did, but it's never to late to make the changes. I went from taking 1,000 mg of Metformin 2x a day and 45 units of insulin at bed time every day to taking no Metformin and no insulin at all by changing my diet and getting off my lazy ass and exercising daily. I walk on the treadmill for an hour a day now, and eat whole foods with low net carb counts. No processed junk food, no sugary treats. A reasonable portion of meat, fish, poultry, or eggs and a large amount of veggies for dinner, and intermittent fasting. I'm 64 years old now so if I can do it, anyone can. You can do it with less than an hour a day on the treadmill, but the more exercise the better, not just for reversing diabetes, but for over all cardio vascular health as well. I've not felt better than I do today for many years. I have more energy, and less appetite than I did 20 years ago! Btw..I did this in less than 3 months. I've lost 25 lbs, and have not needed to take a shot of insulin or a pill of Metformin in 2 months. I'm under no illusion that I've cured my diabetes, just reversed it, and more or less put it on hold. I'm sure that if I were to go back to eating processed foods and sugary treats, my diabetes would come right back. This needs to be a life long change in order to stay healthy and insulin free. Only time will tell if I can stay the course, but the way I feel now that I'm becoming healthy, I don't see why I would ever want to go back to my previous life style. My DR was pretty surprised at my last visit when I told him I was no longer taking the diabetes meds, yet was able to maintain my blood glucose levels in the 80-110 range, with most days hovering in the 90's. My only regret is I didn't start doing this years ago when I was warned that I was pre diabetic. I urge everyone to not wait until you are shooting insulin every day to take action and change your life style.

Hey, Kait. Thanks for the content; LOVE YOUR MESSAGE!!! I have a quick question on smoothies. I make a spinach / protein smoothie most days and wanted to ask your opinion on whether it supports your message. I include 3 cups of raw, organic spinach, 2 scoops of grass-fed, organic protein (48g protein), 1 cup of Fairlife protein milk (13g protein), and a banana. In total, it has ~61g of protein and ~25g of sugar (19g from the banana). Also, I've heard that blending the spinach removes the benefits of its fiber, is that true?
    Love to hear your thoughts.
    ~Kevin

I used to eat almost all of these things. I also used to weigh 350 lbs. I have PCOS and over the past 10 years slowly educated myself on the best ways to eat and the things that really helped my symptoms. I can fully support what Health Coach Kait explains. Her facts are on point. I've also seen doctors who are not educated about women's health.... OR PCOS who have tried to tell me advice that is not the best for PCOS. My lowest weight in 10 years was 190. I was intermittent fasting for 14-16 hours 6 days a week. I wasn't snacking at all. I felt the best I ever had. I was staying away from everything listed in this video and focusing on fat and protein. The diet life with PCOS is not the same with someone who doesn't suffer from insulin resistance. My best advice is to educate yourself if you have insulin resistance and listen facts supported by real studies. Health Coach Kait knows her stuff and she knows it well.

I LOVE beans 😭😭😭 I literally have kidney beans, pinto, navy beans, black beans etc. I am severely diabetic (just found out I am like 2 weeks ago after living for over 2 years feeling awful, faint and like I'm going to pass out multiple times a day... I'd just ignore it and keep going until I literally thought... I'm going to die) anyway, I LOVE beans and I've always added in ground flaxseed and cheese to them and VOILA.. yummmmmy😍🤤

I love your advice and channel. I love smoothies and can't seem to break the habit as my first meal of two meals of the day :-). My daily smoothie consists of Equip protein (various flavors), cup of coconut milk, 1/4 cup of pecans or macadamia nuts, 1/4 cup Cocoyo coconut yogurt, MCT powder, butter powder, 1/4 of an avocado, one tablespoon each of chia, flax, and hemp seeds, 1 tablespoon lucuma powder, vanilla, ceylon cinnamon, and an inch of fresh ginger. A lot of ingredients indeed and it keeps me full for 6-7 hours or more. It never raises my blood sugar based on checking it with my glucose meter a couple of hours after drinking it.

That's because she gives badly researched generic advice based on a few numbers and not the total facts. Nothing wrong with a well balanced smoothie, all you have to remember is to include fiber, good fats, protein, and whole foods. She needs to learn a few basic things about carbs vs. net carbs, Glycemic load. Does she stumble on some good advice now and the? Yes. She claims to be educated but does not seem to know there are no such thing as Beans and Legumes. Beans are Legumes, Legumes include beans, lentils, peanuts. Pretty scary when the so called 'expert' does not a know beans are legumes, beans are fine in moderation and variety. Just sayin'. PS you want real sound advice, and not bits from the school of BS, try a real Board Certified Endocrinologists on YT diabetes specialist under the Name SugarMD. One more PS No I am not the doctor who's name I can't pronounce. I have a bachelors degree in food science, I have been a certified nutritionist since 2007. I fully reversed my type 2 diabetes, and heart disease eating the Mediterranean way, which included well balanced whole food smoothies, plenty of beans, veggies EVOO and other good fats, and very moderate amounts of grass fed and finished beef, hard raw cheeses. Happy healthy trails.
