- The idea here was to give the reveal of the second U.S.S. Defiant a bit more fanfare, as well as pay homage to the Mass Effect series. Featuring Star Trek Online's Adamant-class as the evolved version of the Defiant.
Behind-the-scenes commentary:
- I decided on the 3:2 aspect ratio as a compromise between the 4:3 of the show and the 16:9 of the game.
- I was debating whether I should display the U.S.S. Sao Paulo name during the first reveal scene. Decided not to in the end, but left in its ship registry.
- I know O'Brien's remark about this ship looking just like the old Defiant doesn't make much sense in this context, but I could not find a way to alter/edit it out without spoiling the moment.
- In order to get the ship moving at a "cinematic speed", I had to unequip the engines. With the engines on, even a quarter impulse was too fast. Though in fairness, this is being influenced by my Personal Endeavour rank.
- I initially planned on having Cerberus' EDI reply Sisko in that final extra scene, but I was not able to find an appropriate voiceline, so I got the "hello" voiceclip from...somewhere else.
- Demorecord location: Earth Spacedock. I did try recording at DS9, but the in-game lighting in that map was rather unflattering. Vulcan system was also considered, but the lighting there was too...orange.
- Video source: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Season 7, Episode 24 "The Dogs of War". How I wish for a HD version...
- Music source: "The Normandy Reborn" by Jack Wall, Mass Effect 2 OST.

I am particularly pleased with how the motion in the timestamped scene turned out myself. I don't think I can pull that off again even if I wanted to.

At first, I didn't like this design, but it grew on me. The original Defiant was copied by the Mirror Universe. This design, the "Adamant," was an evolved version of the Defiant copied by Star Fleet from the prime universe. Ordered a full color 3d printed model. I am looking forward to its arrival.
Still my fav ship in the fleet. Especially with a modernized refit.

Imagine a whole watermelon stuffed inside a small tuperware. Yes, that is how they stuffed the defiance's weapon system. The ship almost tore itself apart at its first launching. No luxurious rooms, small mess hall, crappy bunkbeds. Just made for nothing but military. My favourite ship in all star trek series. I cried a bit when it was destroyed :3

It's a recently released ship in STO IIRC, you should be able to get it printed from there.
Great work. As a point of reference, when Admiral Ross transferred the ship to Sisko's command, it was the USS San Paulo NCC-75633. Ross the told Sisko to read the rest. It said he was authorized to rename it USD Defiant.
Thanks! I could not recall if it kept the NCC-75633 registry even after being renamed to the Defiant. For the purpose of this vid, I settled on reverting it to the Defiant's registry.

@@DilaZirK I did. In sector space it’s fine but at sublight speeds in system I absolutely hate it. And the devs reason for its existence is just as horrible as the effect itself. 😂

I always loved the Defiant. A warship with the look of a knotted fist - small, but extremely nimble and VERY hard hitting! Lethal in the hands of an experienced crew!!
If I'm to be honest, I personally never thought much of the Defiant, until the Adamant came along.

I kinda hope that in one of the shows, like the possible legacy show, the defiant shows up to help out the Enterprise, and it's the Defiant A with the Adamant class design like this

I just got this Beautiful mighty ship last week in STO, omg best ship ever 💯
She's not the most powerful ship in the game for any particular build type, but she can accommodate several different build types and is easy on the eyes.
@@DilaZirK Auggie hit 803k with it on a surgical strikes build. Then again, Augmented is Augmented. But it does goes to show the sheer potential for that vessel.
NOW That's a Good Ship. She should have the way of a fighter ship, sleek and elegant yet as powerful and as Deadly as a tank
Within the game she comes from, with the right build know-how, it's possible to be both speedy and tanky with her.

When Sisko got his new Defiant I was disappointed that she wasn't given a legacy "A" designation.
Missed opportunity on my part to put in 'A' on this version of the 2nd Defiant.
That was mainly a budgetary decision by the producers since they often used stock footage of the ship and people would notice the missing "A" on many scenes. That is one reason why they never changed the "NX" registry despite the ship already being officially commissioned in the fleet.

To quote Jean Luc Picard 'Let's Make Sure History remembers the Name DEFIANT'.
Not reborn but the Adament was the OG LCARS MSD schematic in the DS9 Episode 2 parter the S2-S3 "The Search" when the Defiant premiered. The Adament is the orginal concept for the Defiant after the Defiant Pathfinder or Nova Class was scrapped.
A similar story for the Narendra-class in STO, which was the original concept for the Ambassador-class Enterprise-C, but had to be changed due to production time limits.

Can an STL file be released of this version of the Defiant? That is one beautiful ship with teeth.
Wasn't made by me, so it's not within my ability to release. There should be unofficial STLs for the Adamant though.
I liked the defiant because it had a ta tical advantage over most other ships because of its shape. It didn't have the nacels sticking way out or have a long neck. Both of which might as well had bullseyes and a sign saying "shoot me here". Don't get me wrong I liked the traditional starfleet ships but they were only really good for exploring and were reliant "pun not intended" on their shields for protection. The klingons were even worse with that long neck on their Bird of pray. The romulans were better with their bird of prey since they had everything close together. Making critical systems more protected and creating a smaller overall profile to target. UT the hands down most practical ship I ever saw was that damned borg queen with her spere. It doesn't get more compact and while an oval pill shape would have been better since you could turn your slim side to your enemy and when either facing or retreating from enemies you would be as small a target as possible.
Its a trade-off, though. The Defiant, in canon, has a slower top FTL speed than ships with longer, exposed nacelles. Personally, I think the Sovereign Class has the best balance of combat offense/defense and deployment speed. In some sources, she also has ablative armor to supplement regenerative shields. She also has no exposed neck, though she does have longer nacelles. But those nacelles provided her with the highest warp speed in the fleet in her era; an acceptable trade, in my opinion.
When it comes to the Borg Sphere, their transwarp coil technology is sufficiently advanced that the shape of the ship is irrelevant in relation to its speed. And... it can time travel too. 😄

To be specific, it was NCC-75633 on all parts of the ship during the initial reveal scene, as that was the registry of the U.S.S. Sau Paulo.
It then became NX-74205 for its next scene, reflecting its name change back to the U.S.S. Defiant.
