The Excelsior (class) was nerfed of her true next-gen capabilities and made to be weak because TNG came about. Even in the Voyager Flashback episode, they had Excelsior being bullied by standard D7/K'tinga battle cruisers like it was any oridinary Starfleet vessel ... By the time DS9 got into the whole Dominion war arc, the Excelsior class was further relegated to weekly cannon fodder along with the Miranda's ... if Berman & Braga had their way, they would have thrown in a dozen Connie classes to be destroyed also.

This is utterly BEAUTIFUL! I adore how the saucer designs look in this setting. Especially how the Excelsior looks super menacing just like the Vengeance from the kelvin timeline. I adore the enterprise. She may be old, but she's still nimble and sleek. I also love the detail of the thrusters going into overdrive to stop the Enterprises spin. That was nice to see. I also love the background and warp effects. They're neat aswell! This was definitely worth the wait.
Given its pretty (heavily) implied that the Vengeance is the KU excelsior (Transwarp, Automated Systems, "bigger-faster", very similar structural lines (the engine to body hull ratio is very excelsior) gets disabled by scotty in a virtually an identical way) it really does fit to think of the Prime universe Excelsior as having the potential to be just as 'mean'.

@@SquirrellyTime Yeah. She was a pretty tough ship for her time. Reminds me of that one moment in Picard S3 where the intrepid slowly rises up to face the Titan. Weirdly, even though the Intrepid is probably the size or even bigger than the Excelsior, the Excelsior just feels so much more menacing.
I'll never forget sitting in the theaters nearly eleven years ago watching Star Trek Into Darkness with my brother. When THAT scene happened, my brother turned to me and excitedly asked, "Is that the Excelsior!?" Clearly we weren't the only ones thinking that.
Absolutely gorgeous... The little details, the thrusters firing to stabilize the Enterprise after it falls out of warp, the nacelles coming online... I'm in awe.
Honestly, it feels like we, as Star Trek Fans, have really been getting the rough end of the stick when it comes to the new Content we get. Actually having a show that shows off the classic ships, with more realistic engagements, and all the attention to detail. I really wish Paramount actually cared about us, and not just our money.

Now that they're recasting/rebooting the TOS era characters, what I really want is an _Excelsior_ show, set in the 2290s after ST6 Undiscovered Country. You have Sulu as the captain, and can create all new characters for the rest of the crew... except for a young Ensign Tuvok.
Man I agree wholeheartedly! My favourite ST games always tend to come from that era, namely Starfleet Command and Klingon Academy. So I definitely have a love for that era and would really like to see more done in that time. Absolutely love the red militaristic uniforms too. @@windwalker5765

Excellent work. Ever since Picard Season 3 I've seen so many folks try to make different ships look as pissed off and mean as the Intrepid. You are the first person to really succeed at it.
@@GNCSACpretty much even more impressive because in Star Trek 3, where it was supposedly an antagonist when Enterprise was making a run for it, all it did was ended up conking out its own warp drive due to Scotty’s sabotage, this combined with its more “heroic/good” feats in Star Trek 6 resulted in basically a stark contrast seen here where it really is daunting and intimidating and pretty much not being treated as a joke as it had from its incident.

This was so well composed! The ambience and modelling/animation really enhanced what Into Darkness had if not better. I not a huge fan of Kelvin Timeline, but it does have some good starship scenes. You paid attention to details and utilized the Excelsior exteriors ports effectively. The immediate chase scene is highly enjoyable! All in all, well done!

I do love the fact it feels like it would have been better than what we saw in the Abrams films for redoing the design of the Enterprise and a fitting ship having the Excelsior be the one hunting it and firing at the Enterprise.

WOW! Brilliant work. Star Trek at it's finest. Using the Excelsior class as an antagonist is a stroke of genius - it is not designed to 'look evil or a bully' but when in the wrong hands, it is very scary. I second all the other comments regarding the thrusters, shields and warp effects.
Now I really REALLY want you to do the whole movie. Just wow. The torpedo launchers, the charging effect of the nacelles, just everything is absolutely perfect. Not to mention the sound effects and choice of music. Incredible.
Back in the day Roddenberry said the Enterprise heavy cruiser was for all intentions a battleship in her firepower and durability but the Federation didn't like to use the old battleship moniker because it sounded hostile or something.

Styles is possibly in command.. 🤔 When I was a kid the Constitution class on TV and its beautiful refit on the big screen were all there was to be seen for Federation starships. Then we got the Oberth and Miranda classes, which seemed to compliment the Constitution type nicely. And then the Excelsior showed up. It was classified as a battleship, made sense.. Grissom and Reliant had their very distinct looks, but now we got to directly compare the very similar Enterprise and Excelsior. The progress of Starfleet.. What a treat this video was for anyone who enjoyed the introduction of all these new ships, especially the Excelsior..
Well, that would have made for a shorter STIII! Lovely work. Absolutely fantastic to see the Excelsior like this. Minor gripe - the smoke from the guns shouldn't be falling down in zero G and would just move in a straight fuzz in a vacuum. But this is Trek not the Expanse so we'll let that one go!

Actually, the _Lakota,_ an Excelsior with a 24th century refit, was in an even fight with the _Defiant._
