I've been watching a ton of floyd rose videos lately and finally came across a few of yours. The diagram in this vid especially has me finally understanding this trem system. Thank you!
My guitar is in tune so I didn't need to use this info today. But watching it put me in the mood for picking it up and playing it again. So that's a good thing.
So helpful and to the point. I bought a charvel with a Floyd rose recently after having only used fixed bridge guitars and you really help to make it less of a pain to trouble shoot.
I have a San dimas. A lime green one. I love it. It plays really well. I also have an early 90s Japanese Surfcaster with a 3 x 3 headstock that’s my grunge guitar. 😊
Here's another tip...Sometimes you'll want to set your fine-tuners to about mid-travel of their entire tuning range, what I do is I set one of the fine-tuners to as close to mid-travel as I can, then i find an Allen-key that will just fit in the gap between the top of the back of the bridge, and the top of the fine-tuner, and then I use the Allen-key to set each of the other fine-tuners, using the Allen-key as a kind-of feeler gauge.
I m gonna try this I have a new jackson and I can't get it tune to save my life I notified the low e tlfi e tuner is buried all tge way in I m gonna reset them all and try this method hopefully it works
The most common reason that your strings go sharp when you tighten your locking nut is that the string tree needs to be lowered so the strings are touching the nut at the end. What is happening is that the strings or string is slightly above the end of the nut and not touching it so when you tighten it down the string it is being pushed down to where it is supposed to be and goes sharp. You can test if this is happening when the nuts are off and press down on the string between the nut and string tree. If you can press the string down to the nut you need to adjust the string tree to hold it down where it just touches it. Hope this helps.
Once my nut is locked and I fine tune, my strings begin to go flat slightly and I'm always having to find tune them back up. What would cause this?? Not stretching the strings or something maybe?? Thank you.
If the guitar is only slightly out of tune, can you just play with the fine tuners until it goes back to tune? or you always have to unscrew the locking nut ? Thanks
Thanks. Im buying a floyd rose guitar from new. Hopefully i wont have to go near the locking nut. Ive heard streching them is a good idea also. @@ManBunMetalHead
No I have a question I had my Jackson js32 with the Floyd Rose set up and restrung can I use a snark to tune it if not I have a and I'm going to miss pronounce it a d'andrio plug-in tuner but as a beginner could I use just the fine tuners to tweak the tuning in I'm just worried of throwing everything off and have to get it restrung or returned it's just a process again I'm a beginner so I'm learning as I'm going
Hi! Hope you can help me with this. I have one question, How does the John Petrucci's Majesty guitar stay in tune without the locking nut and just using the Blocking tunners?
Hi, thanks for the video. One of my fine tuners on my trem is stuck, where fine tuning is quite difficult as it cannot turn. Do you have any solutions to this?
Great tip, but floating bridges should be tuning at playing position, not laying down in a table because the gravity affects the entire bridge stability, so when you get your guitar in playing position it will be slightly out of tune
What If I ripped the threads on the fine tuners should I replace the fine tuners or replace the whole Floyd rose because all of the fine tuner threads are ripped!
3-4-5-2-1-6..or close enough. Loosen all 3, tune in sitting pos using 3-4-5. etc.. lock..fine tune same method. 5 min top. Best Regards and Best Wishes for 2023!
If your strings are going sharp when you lock down the nut clamps... I suggest it's b/c your strings aren't fully flat against the nut itself... so when you lock down the clamp, it's bending the string ever so slightly, causing it to go sharp. I had a retainer on my first FR but didn't know how to adjust it until I realized I had that same issue... once I cranked mine down a bit to properly alight the break angle of the string, problem solved. I see your guitar doesn't have a string retainer above the nut... if you added one it would basically eliminate that issue. If you don't want to modify it, the tuning a touch flat works, but that's what the retainer is there for and unfortunately some guitars with floyds don't have them... I suspect it's purely due to keep the cost down. You can buy a genuine FR OEM one for $17 on their site... it must be the labor / extra drilling, I don't know really, but it's a shame to put a FR on a guitar without one b/c it creates this issue that shouldn't be there when the complete system is installed. Anyway, maybe helpful, maybe not, but thanks for the tips and nice work on the graphics man, jeez that must have taken a while alone to produce! I've watched a few of your videos on the FR setup tips, all good content, much appreciated! 🤘
You are right. I put the guitar together so it's entirely my fault for not having a string retainer bar on there. I have other guitars with a Floyd Rose and no bar without issue. Didn't think there would be an issue with the angled headstock. I picked up a bar recently but the truss rod cover would need to be modified in order to install the bar. Someday I'll get around to it.
Your guitar goes sharp when you clamp down the nuts because you’re not using a string retainer. The string is not laying flush on the surface of the nut. The retainer keeps the string flush, then when you clamp it down the string has nowhere to go.
I don't see the QUICKLY here. There is one way to reset the fine tuners and this is to reset the fine tuners. All of them. The fact you are doing in with pairs of strings does not shorten the time it needs.

Charvel is amazing! I have a San Dimas. Which one do you have?

I just got my first Floyed rose, vids like this are a lifesaver 👍
Just got a floyd rose guitar, and been watching all your videos on em. You make it way less complicated, THANK YOU
This was just the video/tutorial I was looking for. Thank you for making it SO easy to follow. Cheers!
Oh my god thank you I’ve been playing for 2 years and I got my first Floyd rose guitar and this helps a bunch thank you
You got it man
I was looking for an answer for why my Floyd alway got out of tune, thank you sir. Saved me an excruciating headache
Life isn't hard enough?! No, there is Floyd Rose and fine tuners!!

That sounds like an awesome method. I'm going to give that a try when I replace the strings on my floyd rose.
I've tried that. My two Ibanez always go flat so I set my fines at top/max travel. Never seem to need to go other way. Best Regards!
I m gonna try this I have a new jackson and I can't get it tune to save my life I notified the low e tlfi e tuner is buried all tge way in I m gonna reset them all and try this method hopefully it works
Is it normal that the top 2 fine tuning screws can come completely loose but the other 4 top out? Brand new HB Fusion III HH FR

Thanks so much for this guide. I was a bit apprehensive about doing this but you made it easy.
Thank you again, just watched both intro FR videos much help (subscribed).
Very helpful. Thank you for making the video
You're welcome! 🤘🏼
Thanks for this! Amazing solution and help!
Thanks man. Exactly what I needed to know

Hi, is there a chance you might have to re adjust the back springs after this? Thanks 🙏🏻
Great Video.
Thanks for this!
Great video for a newbie (like me 😅). Thank you!
great video mate, subbed
I had one of these and it was a pain at first then once I got it down they aren’t that bad to deal with.
Can you just tune using the fine tuners all the time ? Unless badly out of tune of course. Also how tight should the locking nut be ?
thanks this was very helpful
spot on thanks
I don't understand why were they all down so much then you had to raise them ? Do you keep turning them down ? Thanks
I've reset my EADGB fine tuners but I'm too scared to tune the high E with my headstock tuner.
If the guitar is only slightly out of tune, can you just play with the fine tuners until it goes back to tune? or you always have to unscrew the locking nut ?
Thanks
Should be able to correct with the fine tuners

A snark tuner will be just fine for tuning your guitar.
What if my b and e string fine tuners just dont move ???
Do you tune it with the tuning pegs when adjusting the fine tuners?
Hi! Hope you can help me with this. I have one question, How does the John Petrucci's Majesty guitar stay in tune without the locking nut and just using the Blocking tunners?
Oh,thank you guru....
Thanks man bun metal head!
i still can't seem to figure it out
What headstock tuners do you like to use with a Floyd?
I believe this guitar has Schaller locking tuners. A bit overkill for a Floyd, but it makes string changes a little bit easier.
@@ManBunMetalHead Thanks! I’ve got Hipshot locking tuners on one for the same reason.
Shit i wish i would of watched this video before i freaked out wondering why my tuning knobs werent working and breaking the high e🤦🏼♂️

Agreed. I may have mentioned that in this video. Just easier for filming.
What If I ripped the threads on the fine tuners should I replace the fine tuners or replace the whole Floyd rose because all of the fine tuner threads are ripped!
Depends on if the threads ripped off the tuner or the trem. My guess is it would have been the tuner. Cheaper to replace that than the whole trem.

Why. It just set term unlock tetune and then lock in backed out fine tuners? Or at this point just restring? This seems like madness
U don't need the locking nut. Just use fender roller nut with locking tuners
I never bottom out my tuners
