Pppppppĺ😊😊😊
Such a beautiful city. I wish I had seen it before I went. I'm from Seattle, and Bergen felt a lot like home. Makes sense that they are sister cities
Yes, they have much in common. Glad you got to visit!
What a beautiful view of Bergen. Hope you brought a flashlight for the hike back into town in the dark.
Thanks! The flashlights on our phones saved us 😅
Thank you from Ukraine!
Slava Ukraini!
Thank you Pål for sharing this with us !❤🇫🇷🙋♂️
You are welcome! Thanks for watching
That hike up the mountain looks fantastic 😊💛 The cats made me chuckle too 😝
Hehe naughty cats…
Thanks for the video.... Last summer we went to Bergen and only visited the centre where all the big boats are, we thought it was very touristic. But now that you have shown us the other side of Bergen we are defenitely coming back! ....
Glad you got to visit! Yes there is def more than just the area along the Bryggen :)
great video! Thank you!
I had the chance to go to Bergen 5 times now and you still managed to make me discover new spots! Thanks for that :)
hah that's great! To be honest I've probably been there over 50 times, but I still manage to find new things
You so positive man. Good luck.
Thank you for your response Pal. You do a fantastic job. Love your videos. Have a lovely day!
I appreciate your nice comments Alex! A lovely day to you as well
This was fun to watch. Definitely some places I never heard of. Can't wait to visit Bergen for the first time soon! Thanks for sharing these gems.
Glad you liked it, and enjoy your time in Bergen!
Hello Pål, your captivating videos showcasing the beauty of your country are truly impressive. My wife and I are embarking on a road trip from the UK to Hamburg, then onwards to Kristiansand, Stavanger, Bergen, Flåm, Oslo, Gothenburg, Copenhagen, and finally back to the UK via the Netherlands.
Your insights have been invaluable in our planning process. Thank you once again for your assistance.
Hi Simon! Glad to hear you've found my episodes helpful. That will for sure be an epic road trip. Enjoy!
❤
Coming last week in April for a few days and thanks to your videos i have an itinerary. Very helpful...

Well done, as usual, Pal!
Thanks Bruce!
I'm visiting bergen in April and this video was so helpful.
Thank you, that’s nice to hear :)
I've just found this channel and I love the way you deliver the information through your journey. Hoping my visa is going to be granted dan off to Norway this summer.
Thanks a lot Puji! Crossing my fingers for your visa application 🤞
I enjoy a good stair climb! Great vid!
Me too! But better up than down actually :)
Very helpful video. I will need to go back and see some things I missed.
You are welcome! Always nice to have some things left to discover
Absolutely love the video! 😍👏 Exploring Bergen's hidden gems and iconic landmarks was such a joy! Can't wait to visit these places myself! 🌟🏞
Thanks for watching!
Thank you… one day I will visit your country ❤❤
I hope you will! :)
What a terrific video!! Thank you for the insights into some places we didn't know of. And the Stoltzekleiven hike looked fantastic. We will be visiting and staying in Bergen in September, we will certainly visit everything you pointed out in this video. Hoping it won't be too crowded in September!
That's great, thanks for watching the episode! If it is crowded or not usually depends if there are many cruise ships in town, but September is typically not the high season. All the best and enjoy Norway
Danke!
Danke! Tusen takk :)
I didn't realize Bergen is a sister city to mine! I'll definitely have to visit the totem pole while there next summer.
I love your videos - they're so helpful, and I love knowing the Norwegian pronunciation for a lot of these places I'm researching.
Thank you! I hope you get to see the totem pole next summer :D
Love the video. Was pleasantly surprised to see the totem pole from Seattle. A favorite place of mine (Pacific northwest).
Thanks very much
Thank you! Yes not many know about it, so I thought it was time it got some well deserved attention :)
Now I really want to visit Bergen
I hope you will!
Tusen takk 😃👍
Vær så god!
Wow very nice
Thanks!
great video!!!!
Thanks Luke! Good maps make a difference
Ahh, we went there when visiting Norway in 2019. Unfortunately, we were both ill with some cold virus and felt dreadful, so didn't do as much as we'd hoped but still managed the main 'must see' things, I think.
Being sick on vacation sucks! But glad you still managed to experience some of the main must sees!
Thank you from Uganda 🇺🇬
You are welcome, thanks for watching!
Just got back from Bergen myself. Well about 2 months ago and loved it! I even went to that same cafe and its the best. Also, had a reindeer hotdog from that same spot. I wish I knew about some of those other spots you visited. Dang. Maybe next time.
Next time! I've been to Bergen probably 50 times and always find something new to explore
I am a bit of a home body, I don't do much traveling, there are not many places in the world that I want to go. Now having said that I would love to see Norway, Finland and Sweden in the winter and summer.
I hope you’ll make it over here some day!
I didn't realise Seattle was sister cities with Bergen! I grew up around Seattle and have ancestry from Vang that fished out of Bergen before immigrating. I can't wait to see it someday.
I hope you’ll make it there some day 👍👍👍
Would love to explore Bergen with you! Hot dog looked great and Jan loved the part with the cats. Hope you and your family are well.
Hei Jan & Mike, perhaps some day we'll eat that hot dog together :) Btw it's not so visible in the episode, but the cat scratched my hand, leaving an almost permanent mark from Bergen ..hehe
Nice view
Reading Knausgård I kept looking at Bergen streets on Google maps. This is much better…and now I realise how to pronounce them!
Nice! I'm a big fan of Knausgård
Wow nice
Man I really want to go so bad, you have a video about Oslo too, right?
I was thinking of going to Oslo first and then Bergen.
Yes I have a one about Oslo and currently working on one more! I hope you’ll make it here some day
Hi Pal, We loved our visit to Bergen and your show was a fun reminder. We have a few more things to do the next time. Question - how did you get down the rocky climb after sunset.? Looked a bit rough for a dark walk.
Hi Roberta! We walked down and used the flashlight on our cell phones to see the path 😅 not optimal, but it became quite an adventure!
This is the place my great great great grandparents left from Norway 🇳🇴 to America in 1860.
They traveled from Osvåg Etne to Bergen. Then arrived in New York. After that they traveled to Iowa and ran a farm. They had several children who then had a lot of grandchildren.
The grandchildren went to 4 different parts of America. That is California, Montana, Arizona, and Texas.
Most of the family became very successful and to this day they own several businesses and make far above the national average.
I still have family who live in Osvåg Norway 🇳🇴 and we keep in touch via Facebook.
Interesting! Nice that you have such good overview of your family history
Thank you for this! What month was this filmed in?
Late February! Thanks for watching
That was a wonderful video. Thanks for sharing all this knowledge with us. Bergen is definitely a must see. How did you get back down? Are the stairs lighted up or is it in darkness at night. Does reindeer taste different than beef?
Thanks Alex! We walked down again, and used the flashlight on our phones to navigate all the steps..hehe
Reindeer is pretty lean meat, a bit more "wild" flavor than beef, but to be honest not a huge difference
Hi. Thx for your resourceful video. By the way, where is the painting with the guy with the fish taken( 4.59 mins )? Near the Maritime Museum? Thx
Hi there, thanks for watching! It's in the Skostredet street, at the north end
@ Thx. I had detected it at 20 Skostredet via Google Map! This image is an image on the Scott’s Emulsion bottle which my mum used to give me in the 70s. Will take a photo when I am Bergen this June. Thx again
Interesting! I did not know what was the origin of it.@@edkoh4919
Wonderful episode! How did you get back down from the summit in the dark?!
Cell phone flashlights lol 😜
Ah of course! @
Nice video and beautiful Bergen! I like your jacket. Where can I find get it pls?
Thank you! I bought it a year ago and not sure where you can find it abroad, but its called Northug St. Moritz parka. It's very comfortable and warm
Thank you for your reply Pal. I will check it online. I can see it looks cosy and warm on you. I am planning to visit Iceland soon and need good jacket. It is really difficult to find good jacket with reasonable price here in London.
This one was actually quite well priced. I'm certain it'll work well on Iceland :)@@myattha6336
Great episode, the most lovely thing to see a Ukrainian flag in an episode from Bergen!
Thanks! Yes glad I could include the Ukrainian flag. Slava Ukraini!
@ Glory to heroes! ❤️
Okay We will follow your steps when we are in Bergen. But we will need some thoughts about hiking as my knees are weak. Is it still beautiful if we walk up there in the morning?
Hi there! If you have weak knees I would rather recommend the hike up to Mount Fløien. Or take the funicular up and hike down again. Enjoy!
Thank you 🙏🏼
Harika bir yer..masalsı birgüzelliği..var.Ziyaret için hangi mevsim iyi olur?
Thanks! I think the summer is really nice, so between June-August
I want to move to bergen and i realy want to know
Does it actualy rain that much
Yes they do have a lot of rainy days, but what is counted as a rainy day can mean rain in the morning and sun in the afternoon. To be honest I've had a lot of nice weather in Bergen, and I don't think it quite lives up to its rainy reputation
Thanks
Hei Pål, takk for videoen! Jeg kommer fra Vancouver, Canada men jeg bor i Seattle, USA. Jeg besøkte Oslo for fire år siden og ble forelsket i Norge. Det minner meg om hjemmet.
Hvilken jakke har du på deg?
Takk!
Hei Ross, takk for din kommentar! Det er en Northug St. Moritz parka. Varm og god :)
I'm visiting Bergen in march. 🙂 Thank you for the video. Du you have hungarian roots? Your name Pal referres on it 😀
Not that I know of :) enjoy Bergen!
That's good chocolate.
Yep 🤤
As of 2024 Feb, 3 crowns burned down. But it being rebuilt.
😱
Yeah sure it's pretty, but the reality is that it's also rainy and cold and lacks public transportation and just overall miserable.
Would a rental scooter 🛴 get me to the trail head (the start of the hike)?
Yes it should, just check that there is a parking nearby. Or a rental bike, there is a rack nearby
