Hello Pål! First of all, fantastic video as always! I don’t usually comment on UA-cam, but I really wanted to thank you for making another in-a-nutshell video. I traveled to Norway this June and took the Norway in a Nutshell trip-it was amazing! Before flying out, I watched your Norway in a Nutshell video, and it helped me so much. I had a wonderful time, and I honestly think my experience wouldn’t have been as special without the information I got from your video. Thank you for that. You have no idea how much you improved my trip! I’ll definitely return to Norway, and when I do, I'll be sure to try the Sognefjord in a Nutshell!
Hei hei! This was a really nice comment, and I'm so glad that my episode could improve your trip. I'll try make episodes from the other Nutshell-journeys as well :)
What a beautiful tour by such a handsome guide. The photography was spectacular. The hotel looked inviting and the whole tour well planned and full of interesting elements.. it is the perfect journey with a wonderful guide. Thanks for showing us the best of Norway.
You are an absolutely good guide, and a very good video creator, 👍 the information which you provide is also very good. I really enjoyed all the videos on your channel. Please keep posting 🙏😊 love from India 🇮🇳
Wow, what a beautiful/informative video to show the picturesque Norway! Thank you so much Paul! Such a brilliant suggestion to do a bit hiking before breakfast, and rewarding with a magnificent view! Thank you to show us the village of Balestrand and lovely Hotel Kviknes - really an excellent/delightful video, and will share with our relatives after the Election Day, today in the US. Take care and very good to see you here 🙏😊🤗💕
We have done the Oslo-Bergen railway twice First time Oslo to Myrdal to Flaam to Bergen I personally enjoyed the second time when we were going all the way to Bergen from Oslo as the descent to the coast was for me some of the most beautiful scenery and the train was less full of tourists as they got out at Myrdal!!
Thank you Pal for making this video of stunning, spectacular and breath-taking views. People should do a Fjord Tour with you in person to look at these views themselves! It's hard to describe in words
Hi Pal. Thanks for the very useful information to help us plan our trip to Norway for next summer. I think we will follow your instructions for the Sognefjord in a Nutshell trip. I really like the hotel you feature too. Cheers!
Great, informative video, as always. Takes me back with great nostalgia to a cycling trip in the Sognefjord area many years ago, when I was pedalling between 3-metre high walls of snow, after the plough had just gone through ... Slightly puzzled by your pronunciation of Flåm, though. Normally it would be 'explained' in English spelling (for those who don't know phonemic/phonetic script) as "flom" or even "flawm"; but you seem to be saying "flam" or "flahm" ... Is it my ageing ears, or are you just anglicising it because English sources tend to replace 'å' with 'a' - even though 'aa' would be more accurate?
Hi Tony F, thanks for your comment! I do have an episode explaining Æ Ø Å ;) I talk with a thick L in Norwegian, so if I said it I would probably still have to tune it a bit to make it understandable... Hence the anglicising.. But to be honest I work so much with North-Americans that I tend to pronounce place names this way when I speak English. Perhaps a bad habit ..
Such a beautiful journey! How long is the ferry from Bergen straight to Flåm? Do they do the trip in one day, or is a stopover needed? Trying to determine if we will do the Oslo-Bergen route or go in reverse like this depending on timeframes. Appreciate your insight! Do you have a preference for routes?
Hi there! Thanks for watching. The ferry from Bergen to Flåm is about 6 hours. You can do it in one long day. With the Sognefjord in a Nutshell you don't go inside the UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord, so perhaps NIN is the better choice if you don't do a stopover. But with a stopover in Balestrand I think SIN is a great choice. TBH they are both great journeys and you can't go wrong.
Would it be possible to do the trip to Flam from Oslo and then take this cruise you have suggested to Bergen? The Norway in a nutshell puts the journey from Flam to Gudvangen and then a bus and a train ride to Bergen. Looking at doing this 1st Feb 2025.
Hello! I was thinking about doing this trip from Oslo next year, but i wanted to do it accross 2 night. One night in Flam to do the Nærøyfjord and then a night in Balestrand. This way I can conbine both Borway in a Nutshell and Sognefjord into a single trip. Do you think doing the Nærøyfjord, Viking Village, and Stegastein observatory will easy to do with a single overnight stay?
Hey! Yes I think that would be possible. So basically what you can do is: 1. Book the SIN ticket: www.fjordtours.com/tourism/?tt=38907_12_419475_comment&r=%2Fen%2Fnorway%2Ftours%2Fsognefjord-in-a-nutshell 2. Book a seperate fjord cruise from Flåm to Gudvangen, or the other way around here: www.norwaysbest.com/things-to-do/fjords/fjord-cruise-naeroyfjord Depends a bit on timing though because you'd want to see the Viking Village when you are in Gudvangen. 3. So either do the fjord cruise on the first day in Flåm or the second, and then do the Stegastein viewpoint the day when you don't do the fjord cruise/viking village. I hope that makes sense. Ticket Stegastein bus: www.fjordtours.com/tourism/?tt=38907_12_419475_comment&r=%2Fen%2Fnorway%2Fthings-to-do%2Fsightseeing%2Ftourist-attractions%2Feco-friendly-flam-stegastein-scenic-viewpoint

Great video! Do u intend to make a video on Alesund to Geirangerfjord cruise? If not do you recommend someone's video on this subject? Thank u!
When I have time I'll make one for sure! I'm afraid I don't have any video to recommend

btw. there is a shuttle bus that can take you back to Flåm from Gudvangen
Thank you for the tips, looking forward to visiting Norway! Everything makes sense 🙂
looks a lot like BC.
BC must be a scenic place ;)
