Hei Pal! 👋 I have just recently discovered your channel. Wonderful content and well done! My wife traveled in Norway many years ago. We hope to visit some day as I have never been there. Tusen takk😃
Hi Pal, really enjoyed your journey. I'm 73 now and back in summer 1972, I traveled solo in Norway, having taken an overnight ferry from Newcastle, England to Bergen. Met some Norwegian lads on the ferry and we drank beer 'til the wee hours of the night. They wouldn't let me buy a beer, treated me all evening long. We were all in our early 20s. Once I arrived in Bergen, I was walking around the harbor and found a commercial boat that had a few staterooms for passengers and booked a trip into the Sognefjord. Wow, what an amazing experience that was! Such scenic beauty. The boat was loaded with goods for farmers in communities along the fjord that were only accessible by water, and I recall a couple of draft horses and a large farm tractor that were unloaded at a couple of stops by a crane on the back of the boat. We went all the way to Flam, then rode the Flam Train line up to the main Bergen train line. Amazing scenery! Got to the main train station in Oslo, then caught a train up north to Andalsnes, then caught a bus and ended up in a hostel in some community whose name I've long forgotten. I just wanted to get lost in Norway and see the countryside and experience the people there. It was a memory for a lifetime that I cherish to this day. You have one of the most beautiful and friendliest countries on planet Earth. Cheers from Lafayette, Louisiana, US.
Hei Frank! Thanks for sharing your Norwegian travel memories! Very cool. You certainly had some unique and memorable moments over here. Thanks for watching my video:) Pål
This… this is what is important. And it shouldn’t be just once in a lifetime. I am working hard to reconcile my realization that it is not required that I just bust my ass working until I’m too old to enjoy life.
I've been a trucker all over Europe. I am Romanian, i remember years ago i got to do deliveries from Dk to Norway mostly Oslo area but i had a few going up north. Norway is by far the most beautiful country I've ever seen. I was working but driving my truck there was like being on a vacation. I need to finish building my house and after that I'll save money for a campervan and the first jurney will be from Romania to northern Norway.
Hei Domitry! Glad to hear you have such fond memories of Norway. Good luck on building your house, and I hope you'll get to travel here with a campevan at some point
I've been in Norway 4 times exploring and hiking in Bergen and Stavanger. My favourite place I always want to come back is Lysefjord and Flørli. The way from Oslo to Bergen by train is also worth to try!🇳🇴💕
Breathtaking scenery. So clean. The food looks wonderfully fresh and delicious. The highway is so clean. No trash. No graffiti. Norway is a travelers dream. Not sure I could love it in the frozen winter, though.
Thank you! As we say “there’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing” ;) Just dress up in warm clothes and you can enjoy winter here as well !
Sooo beautiful! The amount of work going into setting the camera, driving off into the distance, only to go back to pick up the camera. Again, and again... Superb drone shots too! This summer we're going hiking by car in these very areas! 👍
I was in the early 1980 in hogenwick ? Working 6 weeks with disabled people. Someone had to drive to Oslo and took me along. That might have been the same way that you drove. But the mountains where all covered with moss it looked like. This landscape I have never seen anywhere and not even on TV since. Best trip of my life. Amazing that you swam in the water. I jumped in there and straight out it was sooo cold. We also encountered goats that went to the farm to get molken. The guy told me in Norge the Farms are fenced in and the animals roam free. Don’t know if this is still the case. Now I live on the other side of the world, but I like to experience Norge again.
Did the Bergen-Oslo trip but on the train. View was awesome. We also passed-by the Hardanger suspension bridge when we drove from Stavanger to Geiranger last month. It really is a work of architecture marvel.
This is awesome. Every journey in Norway is just breathtaking. Last year I drove from Egersund to Flatdal in the summer and it was really hard to drive because every single scene outside the car was completely magical. I took the straightest route possible and it took me across the mountains. The downside of traveling in Norway is that going anywhere takes a long time because there is no highway system in the entire country. But the upside is that while you drive you will basically be treated to an unending line of wallpaper type scenery anywhere you go.
Hi! I have done that journey in the mid 1970s before the bridges were built and used the ferry. Was travelling by car from Gothenburg, Sweden to Bergen. I can remember driving along and stopping at the "stavkyrkan" it's beautiful. We met a flock of sheep walking along the road close to that church. I remember the steep and winding road down not far from that huge waterfall... the height terrified me. We drove over the Hardangarvidda over night but is was around midsummer so wasn't really dark. That journey has stayed with me during all these years and is something I'll never forget . Thanks for the memories.
Hi Maureen, nice to hear that you have such fond memories of this journey! The road down from the waterfall was even steeper back then when you went there :o Thanks for your comment, and thanks for watching the episode
I worked at the U.S. Embassy in Oslo for 3 years. In 1983 had to drive from Oslo to Bergen round trip in early March. Snow covered and hard to drive, especially with a rear wheel drive American car (stationwagon). Would not recommend doing this again. Probably very beautiful in the summer.

Hi Pal, thanks for the video. Last summer we went to Norway for the first time.. We loved it!! We are already planning on coming next year again. Greetings from Holland
Hi Pal, Thanks a lot for your video. It is very clear and helps understand how to start planning such a trip to Norway. The map with the small yellow van adds to the clarity and understanding of the area that should be covered by the traveller.

It's interesting that you mention North Dakota. Yes there are a lot of Norwegian people there. I live in neighbouring Manitoba (Winnipeg) just across the border from North Dakota in Canada. I've been down there many times visiting places like Fargo, Grand Forks, and Bismarck. We often go down there to shop and visit. Wednesday, August 17, 2022 What a delightful travel video! Thank you, Pal. 😀 Wow, Norway has so many wonderful nature spots! 🌳🌾🎋🐿🌳🐇🐇🌳🍄 My favorite part of the day is the few evening hours before sunset. This is the most enjoyable time to be in nature, walking around, enjoying the trees and the cool evening air.
Hi Anthony! Thanks for watching the video:) I agree, the hours before sunset are wonderful. One can feel how the day is slowly settling in, and the light is always the most enjoyable at those hours
Enjoyed the country and your trip. Though not been to Norway but love this country for breathtaking beauty. That's a God's gift to humanity and Norwegians.
I drove this route many times with my truck and every time its still a plesure to drive this route. I could't think of a better job if i have routes like this.
Good run, thanks for sharing. I see your van sits a touch nose high. Mine does the same. Makes me want to put a couple of bags of concrete in the passenger seat.
Thanks for the informational video. I have never been to Norway, but plan a trip this summer to visit my wife's family. I will definitely continue learning from your videos.
I took a train ride from Oslo to Bergen using the eur ail pass fifty years ago. It was a beautiful ride, still remember the mountains and waterfalls. Enjoyed this video immensely
Thank you so much for these amazing videos! I am hungarian and I was lucky enough to spend a semester in University of Bergen in 2021. It was the best experience of my life, wonderful place, wonderful people, I barely had money for food and accomodation but I hiked a lot in the Bergen area and I got to spend 1 week in Christmas with my norwegian friend's family in Molde! Cant wait to go back!!
Thanks for the nice video. I did the trip myself nearly 35 years ago with the train. The whole of Norway is for me just like one big beautiful symphony between mountains and sea. Greetings from Switzerland.

What a delightful travel video! Thank you, Pal. 😀
Wow, Norway has so many wonderful nature spots! 🌳🌾🎋🐿🌳🐇🐇🌳🍄
My favorite part of the day is the few evening hours before sunset. This is the most enjoyable time to be in nature, walking around, enjoying the trees and the cool evening air.
Hi Anthony! Thanks for watching the video:)
I agree, the hours before sunset are wonderful. One can feel how the day is slowly settling in, and the light is always the most enjoyable at those hours
Enjoyed the country and your trip. Though not been to Norway but love this country for breathtaking beauty. That's a God's gift to humanity and Norwegians.
Thank you! I hope you'll make it here some day :)
Thanks...great video. I'd like to go there someday...
I hope you'll make it over here someday :)
@@norwaywithpal Reminds me of Canada where I used to live. All the best...
@@Grace23R Yes there are many similarities between Norway and Canada, not just the landscape but also politics, social system etc.
I drove this route many times with my truck and every time its still a plesure to drive this route. I could't think of a better job if i have routes like this.
Hi Momsel, I’ve heard many truck drivers say the same ! Thanks for watching my video
Good run, thanks for sharing. I see your van sits a touch nose high. Mine does the same. Makes me want to put a couple of bags of concrete in the passenger seat.
Thanks! Yea it was a bit high, but now its sold so not much to worry about anymore
Thanks for the informational video. I have never been to Norway, but plan a trip this summer to visit my wife's family. I will definitely continue learning from your videos.
Thank you! I hope you’ll have a nice journey to Norway 🇳🇴
I took a train ride from Oslo to Bergen using the eur ail pass fifty years ago. It was a beautiful ride, still remember the mountains and waterfalls. Enjoyed this video immensely
That's a wonderful train ride I've done many times myself. Thanks for watching the episode :)
You are welcome! Sounds like you have very fond memories of Norway :)
Wow! This was amazing. Thanks Pal

Thanks for the nice video. I did the trip myself nearly 35 years ago with the train. The whole of Norway is for me just like one big beautiful symphony between mountains and sea. Greetings from Switzerland.
