Back in the season 1 episode Irrtational Treasure you hear Quentin Trembley's voice say "The Only Thing We Have to Fear is Giant Man-Eating Spiders" then in the episode Roadside Attraction what do they encounter? Giant Man Eating Spiders!
Yeah like Stan's advice seems to actually be pretty good for getting someone's attention and striking up a first conversation, it's just that he has no idea what to do with that afterwards to form an actual, meaningful connection and relationship.
@@TECfan1 Maybe he actually had a crush on her and that's why he didn't know what to say. Because we men get pretty stupid that way. On the other hand he gave some good advice, it at least helped get the girls' attention to get, but for everything that comes after that, he had absolutely no tips.
This episode was inspired by a road trip The Gravity Falls crew took out west to see various tourist traps. The crew left mini Bill Ciphers at all the places they visited and afterwards dropped vague clues online so that fans of the series could find them. This was known as a Cipher Hunt. Darlene’s place was inspired by the Trees of Mystery in California, which includes large redwood trees and a Paul Bunyan statue. The Mystery Shack was inspired by the roadside attraction Confusion Hill in Piercy, California, which now has a life-size statue of Bill Cipher.
2:25 - In retrospect, this episode would have been a great opportunity to explore Pacifica's evolving character and relationships with the Pines family (particularly Dipper). Her wanting to go with them on the trip could be justified by her home life becoming more complicated since defying her mom and dad at the Northwest Fest. Its an opportunity to rebel against her abusive parents while also exploring who she wants to really be and the people she actually wants in her life. Sadly, we didn't get that and Dipper was used mostly as a punching bag for wanting to grow beyond his own hang-ups on Wendy. I wouldn't say its a bad episode (of which _Gravity Falls_ has none) but it is definitely the weakest of the series. Fortunately, the fan community has done an amazing job over the years of filling these parts the show didn't fully explore. Its been the lifeblood of pretty much every great timeskip story and exploration of Dipcifica as a healthy couple.
Pacifica doesn’t appear at all between NWMM and the finale. It’s sad because before that she had a really compelling arc. This is easily the most filler episode and hell, replace Candy and Grenda with Pacifica and the story works better. C&G already have plenty of screentime this season.
I think I remember hearing that in the production order this episode was meant to be after the bunker and before Not What He Seems which makes sense, there’s no references to Ford and it would have served as a good in between step for getting over Wendy and maybe having feelings for Pacifica Plus yeah Dipper does get the short end of the stick here, his worst crime is flirting with several people which Mabel does all the time and he never leads Candy on
The creator did a track of Stan Pines describing his ex-wife as having white hair and a golden fang named Marelyn. Anyone who's seen The Owl House knows who that is!

well they literally made a special magic shield to keep bill out of the shack so he can't enter their dreams, and an episode later they leave the shack. no amount of explaining can make that make sense
@@johnywuijts917 well, maybe it can be explained away by saying the magic shield can keep Bill away from the shack even if he's entered one's mind. But these are just excuses anyway, 'cus Alex did say this ep should have been the ep after into the bunker and before northwest mansion.

I liked Dipper learning his lesson that Stan isn’t someone to really take after when it comes to romance. Next week? To quote Stan, here we go.

By the way, it was confirmed behind the scenes that the 'divorced once' was in reference to him apparently having met Eda Clawthorne in Vegas, getting married, then getting divorced In less than a day
Ole Goldie is that broken gold miner statue thing stan had, that when u put a coin in it it just took it and did nothing, but it was leaking oil and being creepy so he threw it away but then it saved him from the animatronic chuckycheese things and so he took it to Vegas lol
I've been enjoying these reactions so thank you for them. Some other GF related stuff I'd recommend watching are the Lost Legends fandub, Between the Pines, Mystery Shack Shop At Home with Mr. Mystery, the GF Pilot and Pocalypse Preppin.
I think I've figured out the reason why this episode is so unpopular. It's not just that it's filler right before the big built-up moment; rather, it's that this episode tried to do the impossible task of having a lesson about pick-up artistry while also keeping Dipper and Stan sympathetic. Because of that *need* for us to still like our main characters, Dipper doesn't act like a creep toward any of the girls he chats with, and we're never shown any implication prior to all of the girls finding out about each other that any of them thought this was something serious. And with the only girl he actually did expect to see again - Candy - she wasn't even one of the girls he was practicing talking with. And for Stan, it's even worse. He only hits on one woman during the episode, and she appears receptive to it, not only encouraging him but actively flirting back. And the reason why things went badly for Stan is because the woman was actually a monster who only pretended to be interested in him in order to lure him to his death. So the lesson we learned today is... Don't let yourself be lured in; only hit on women who don't seem interested... Yeah.
It's just weird to me, cause just talking to other girls is the most common advice I got when I got rejected by my crush. It actually worked too, not getting me a girlfriend mind you, but I just felt really shitty about myself that presenting myself to other girls, who I didn't know and didn't have an opinion of me yet...It made me feel better?
Fun fact I only learnt in my latest rewatch, and for which i slapped myself for only finding out then; Chelsea Peretti (Gina from B99) was the voice of the Darlene the arachnimorph.
When you get time, I think you guys should really review Amphibia on Disney+. It is an amazing series that just ended. I think you guys would really love it. And there is sort of a Amphibia / Gravity Falls crossover episode in season 2.
No worries, Homeward Bound does not have any animal abuse, you can read very detailed notes on how they filmed it, mostly cuts and fake animals for action scenes
You should watch Gravity falls between the pines and gravity falls one crazy summer. In Gravity falls between the pines Alex Hirsch is interviewed by time baby. One Crazy Summer: A Look Back at Gravity Falls is a documentary that goes into a deeper dive into how Gravity Falls was made and includes details about the scavenger hunt that took place after the series.
BTW the Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox statues are VERY real and are a rite of passage for every Oregonian. I remember when I was 12 and I was trolling the operator of the head and hand trying to get him to wave it up and down but he only waved it side to side. THE FOOL. anyway
It’s a 10 episode mini series on the making of The Godfather and it’s truly amazing. I think Rick specifically would love it. It a really fun show and can get really intense at times
A lot of you have been saying this is one of the worst episodes but I say this is just comparable to The Deep End or The Golf War. Even though it doesn't have the intense or drama like some of the main plot-concentrated episodes, but it still has its classical old style humor and excitement and it is still fun episode despite its gloomy background and coloring

I mean, it's not disney canon, but it's director canon, which is what actually matters
Just random fact adding to the pre episode rant about last episode, in German unicorns are actually called Einhörner meaning unihorn soooo
This is that last episode before everything goes to hell
You shouldn’t move if you’re lost in a forest because you dont know where you’re going and can end up more lost
Can’t believe Wonderworks and Ripley’s attractions got a shoutout in this episode! Love from TN
Fun dip is great. The stick is the best part. It’s not chalky at all.
Lol when I was a kid I would just eat the stick and give someone else my dip
I just noticed that Stan has a sticker on the back of his camper that says caution silver fox at the wheel
4:30 that reaction was hilarious
This is the funniest Gravity Falls episode in my opinion. The jokes keep coming. Constant comedy. I love it!
Fun fact I only learnt in my latest rewatch, and for which i slapped myself for only finding out then; Chelsea Peretti (Gina from B99) was the voice of the Darlene the arachnimorph.
8:18 oh no eric looked so sad lmaaoo 😭😭
When you get time, I think you guys should really review Amphibia on Disney+. It is an amazing series that just ended. I think you guys would really love it. And there is sort of a Amphibia / Gravity Falls crossover episode in season 2.
Is no one gonna talk about the harmony at 24:30
7:23 to 7:46 my favorite scene in the episode. I couldn't stop laughing the first few times I saw that.
No worries, Homeward Bound does not have any animal abuse, you can read very detailed notes on how they filmed it, mostly cuts and fake animals for action scenes
Marilyn tricked Stan into getting married then she divorced him and took all of his money & was chased out of vegas
"this woman lit my car on fire"
Hey guys you should react to “The Offer” it’s truly a great show and it isn’t being talked about enough
This episode always reminds me on Sam and Max Hit the Road where they got these weird roadside attractions as well.
Maybe they mentioned it in the full length reaction, but I was surprised the B99 boys didn't recognize Darlene's voice
The calm before the storm.
Gatlinburg/pidgeon forge are indeed tourist traps
You should watch Gravity falls between the pines and gravity falls one crazy summer. In Gravity falls between the pines Alex Hirsch is interviewed by time baby. One Crazy Summer: A Look Back at Gravity Falls is a documentary that goes into a deeper dive into how Gravity Falls was made and includes details about the scavenger hunt that took place after the series.

YES ERIC!!!!
DUDES THE ACTRESS WHO PLAYS GINA IN B99 PLAYS DARLENE IN THIS EPISODE!!!
As a New Yorker!… I still kinda like visiting the Statue of Liberty…
Oh boy, we are nealy there.
Ah, I see they've all discovered the ship that fans call "Dip-cifica".
(Assuming they're Canadian), they have to get back to Canada
because they're insured there.
I've been waiting for another gravity falls WOOOOOO!
4:31 Had me howling in laughter
Next episode will be the beginning of the end
unicorn comes from the latin uni meaning one and cornu a horn. it literally means one horn.
26:47 "we know he's divorced, but i didnt know he was married"
Capricorn means horned goat, or goat horn, so the "corn" thing makes sense.
Love the intro
damn.. next week shit goes down already
Lol Blind wave vs Normie prank war.
The calm before the storm…..
Have good fun with this episode cause the next episodes are gonna be your nightmare 😌🙂
whelp. I guess I didn't need to sleep again.
It’s weird knowing who Stan used to be married to now
Foxy owl lady, 30's and very flirty
Holy fiddle sticks how come I’ve never seen this episode?!? Did I miss something? I’ve never seen this one wtf
if you want to meet Marilyn, you should really watch Owl House
I had watched every single episode of gravity falls
Right off the bat, BILL x3!!!
