React to "Death Ship" (1980)
People overlook the fact that stan tried to get rid of the soos’s birthday just because he didnt like his birthday, shows how much he cares
He is a one of a kind handyman after all
He cared so much he got himself banned from airplanes. That’s commitment
@@matthewhutchinson9353 while it is very wholesome, you know stan would get banned sooner or later anyway
@@matthewhutchinson9353 well, technically "he" didn't get banned but someone sure is banned now lmao
Next week's key is so hard to find. I'm curious to see if they will. Also the physical journal says "Anyone can take a bite but it will only regenerate after Soos has eaten it. This is why it can't solve world hunger - only Soos's mouth has the magic!"
so does that technically mean if someone else eats it completely, that it just vanishes?
@@vivalagamb7034 Probably yeah, unless time wish is involved again
@@darkerrex1442 soos better keep that slice hidden away then
"i cant believe i just said that"
It's actually easier to solve the keyword in reverse!
15:20 From Dipper's notes on the infinite pizza in the published Journal 3:- "Anyone can take a bite, but it will only regenerate after Soos has eaten it. This is why it can't solve world hunger - only Soos's mouth has the magic! (Did I really just write that?) Soos can ask for different toppings and the pizza will obey. I don't know how the pizza can understand him with his mouth full."
That’s incredible
Magnificent.
Can he request a triangle topping that when he bites into it, Bill Cipher is weakened in some way permanently?
It's so nice that Stan got involved with the government just to erase a Soos birthday date so he should not have to deal with it. Stan is really a good father figure for him.
Soos looking up to Stan as the father figure he never had is sad yet sweet at the same time.
To be fair, there's like a 3 year gap between Dipper and Wendy, and a 7 year gap between Dipper and Young Wendy, so there's a pretty significant difference between those situations, but it's nice that Dipper was able to get some perspective.
1 year is a lot at that age, let alone 3.
@@riley8385
Lemme rephrase it then. 3 years is a lot at that age, let alone 7. That was the point of my comment.
Closer to 4 years. Wasn’t Wendy 16 and Dipper was 12 at the beginning of the summer? We don’t know when Wendy’s birthday is.
It isn’t right for any high schooler to date a middle schooler unless they started dating in middle school and it’s only a one year difference (even that doesn’t look good).
@@ElleKayGee
That's fair, though Dipper and Mabel already finished Middle School by the time they meet. It's definitely tentative territory, but it's at least feasible.
Wendy is not 17?
I can't believe Rick instantly spotted the key, I had to look it up and still didn't see it at first.
Rick is someone I would choose to be on my team of a serious game of eye spy.
Mabel taught Soos how to open the vending machine, who ten years later taught her to open it, who went in time to steady him how to do it creating a time paradox
Just like the Song of Storms
Good old Bootstrap paradox, personal favorite is The Doctor’s hypothetical “who really composed beethoven's 5th” cold open in Capaldi’s era of Doctor Who.
My favourite head cannon that I heard for this episode is that Mabel ironically is Lolph's ancestor
That wouldve been such a nice twist. As a post credit maybe.
Lolph: come on johnson were running late!
Dundgren: come on man i told you to stop calling me by my last name. How would you feel if i called you pines?
Lolph: "hey, im proud of my name"
I didn't really think about it my first time watching this episode, but I'm now noticing that Stan cares about Soo's to the point that he tried to get a day removed from the calendar in such an extreme way that he apparently became a flight risk.
Time Baby: “What fate do you decide for the loser?”
Blendin: “Oh, geez.”
Mabel: “DEATH!!!!”
Imagine the outcome of the show if Dipper didn’t stop Mable.
@@caseyp5861 Hm Bill would have had to posess sb else to start Weirdmageddon
So in today’s episode, Rick found the key!
Eric: 4
Rick: 2
Calvin: 1
Aaron: 1
I don't remember Calvin or Aaron finding any, first few episodes Rick had to break the code without the key
I love that this has become a competition
@@joserivas8439 Aaron found the key in episode 4. And I have a point to Eric Rick and Calvin since they all saw the key at episode 3 the same time.
Good luck finding the next key on the next episode
You guys really left out the best line from this episode.
"I can kill you in eight different ways."
I blind watched this with a friend whose father walked out when she was young. It really hit her hard. But I love the message this episode had.
I really like this episode, because it touches on Soos's past and how much of a douche his dad was. Also the line, "Whoever my dad was, he can take a hike. I know who my real family is, and it's you dudes!" affects me on an emotional level no animated show ever has.
Yeah Stan getting banned from airplanes trying to make someone he cares about feel better is the wholesome chaotic energy I strive for. 😁
Fun Fact: The pizza will only regenerate if Soos takes a bite of it first.
Is it first or last? Like if someone else takes a bite before soos, do both bites regen or just the bite soos takes? And vice versa- if soos takes a bite, it would regen before someone else took a bite, which would cause the previous scenario anyways. I don’t expect a complete answer, but if you have one, I’d love to hear it 🌸
@@portiamay2609 It was explained by Alex himself over an interview, but I don't know further than that. You'll have to dig into it yourself.
This episode made me cry twice while rewatching it. Soos’ lil backstory is really soberingly realistic.
1:48 wow that was such a good job on spotting the key by Rick! Well done! 👏
man when i first watched this episode back then it really hit me. cut to a decade later... still stings lol
Yeah, it surprised me how emotional I found it. It doesn't have any particular mirror to my life, it's just... very sweet.
The laser tag match is like the golden snitch in quidditch
Except you still have a chance in quidditch cause it only gives you 150 points. So if the other team gets 170 points and you have 10 and catch the snitch you’ll just have 160 so the game ends but the other team still wins
@@namecomingsoon9517 I mean considering the number of matches it is technically possible to get to 999 points if you dominate thus winning.
8:25 Aaron's face lit up a little when he heard that morty scream🤣🤣🤣
I don't watch Rick and Morty, but I have watched Adventure Time so the only character I'm hearing is Lemon Grab
4:35 - Blendin's camo suit, when flicking through backgrounds, references future episodes.
Woah, I never noticed that. Seems like the 1st one is the Northwest Mansion Mystery, 2nd one is Weirdmageddon and 3rd one would be A Tale of Two Stans!
Thanks for the pointer. Amazing how I'm always learning new things aboutt his show so many years on.
Rick jumping up and shouting key as if his life depended on it was amazing.
If they find next weeks key I will be seriously impressed. I mean i’ve already been seriously impressed by this whole series and them finding keys and stuff but next weeks is really hard.
Yeah ikr i think i’ve only ever found like 3 keys without looking them up when doing the ciphers with my aunt
In the commentary track for Love God, which is available on the blu-ray set, Alex said the crew worked really hard to hide that one because people were finding them way too easily.
@@jstarwars360 it also explain in Between the Pines documentery which i really hope they watch before the finale....
I was like wow kind of a short video length for gravity falls, then I realized it was because Rick found the key a minute into the episode lmao
This is why I love Blind Wave. These guys can have a 10 min conversation about a slice of infinite pizza, and make it interesting
Children who grow up without a father only when they are surrounded by the people they love do they really understand that they never needed their father
I love and am proud of you Soos❤️
Always loved this episode sooo much, Soos and his story is very relatable to me. Great reaction as always guys and RICK MVP that spot was top tier!
I freaking love Soos and I freaking love his Abuela especially after this episode.
It was with this episode that I realized that Justin Roiland voices Lemon Grab in Adventure Time😂 he has a distinct yell lol
holy shit 🤯
Rick: Key!
Eric: Wha- did you see one?!
Calvin: ONE MINUTE IN?!?!
Fun fact creator of gravity falls (Alex Hirsch) and Rick and morty (Justin Roiland) have been friends for a long time and always dreamed of having there own weird shows they could connect😉
This is one of the best episodes, always makes me cry.
6:12 - *“Can you find the author, in this time?”*
This period is twenty years too late for that. The author vanished _thirty_ years ago (1982), and this is merely _ten_ years back (2002).
At this point of time, do we know this fact?
@@galonski64 Yes, at this point in the series it's already been established. Both 2x02 and 2x07 confirmed the 30 year timeframe.
@@SebastianWeinberg oh right, I remember now. I was only thinking about it from a episode to come, that I couldn't remember if it was known before.
I loved this episode. Seeing Dipper and Mabel winning that wish for Soos was nice. I was proud of Soos for not wishing to see his dad. Plus I want that pizza slice!
This is one of my favorite episodes. It's hilarious while also having so much heart to it
Jesus pronounced in Spanish sounds to an English speaker like "Hey Soos"
Infinite pizza might be the best wish granted in fiction.
I HAVE BEEN STARING AT MY PHONE FOR AN HOUR WAITING FOR THIS! YESSSSSSSSSSSS
You know, whoever drew your avatars for the intro really captured your personalities. They did a great job!
Love this episode so much. Best message in the whole show.
it's actually the first time i notice that at 4:35 when blendin changes camouflage, you can see the northwest mansion, the boat and a really brief and small image of a city building with red sky, i had never noticed this, out of several (and i mean several) rewatches
Instead of discussing the show while cracking codes, they talk about baseball and the new ice cream shop. Never change
One of my favorite Gravity Falls theories is that the mailman way Soos’ dad. He said “For… Soos”, but the card doesn’t say Soos on either front ot back (it says Champ). So he might have wanted to see him, but would feel bad for leaving after being with him again, since he definitely wouldn’t stick around. So he checks up on him by delivering the cards, knowing he’d answer the door. Idk I love the theory (and it’s confirmed Soos doesn’t know what his dad looks like)
Same thing happened to the Fonz on Happy Days
I had no idea that theory was a thing.
Wow, shout out to Rick for finding the key IMMEDIATELY.
After you guys finish this show, you should definitely consider putting Amphibia and The Owl House on the list. It’d be a great follow up to this one. Amphibia just ended and The Owl House is coming to an end. Both shows have amazing world building and character development that I think you guys would appreciate and enjoy. Highly recommend!!
Yeah definitely!!
Not to mention that there is the Gravity Falls - Amphibia pseudo crossover.
Owl House can suck it
@@reidranger175 And the creators of both originally worked on Gravity Falls.
13:10 ive been saying "how about the mets" to randomly break the tension too, i know nothing about the mets😭
One of my favorite episodes of the season! I'd always thought it was unfair to Blendin to be blamed by all the havoc Dipper and Mabel caused in season one, so seeing him coming back for revenge and getting a happy conclusion was a pretty satisfying follow-up. Soos disliking his birthday was also a really well-done plot line that managed to be pretty realistic and compreensible, giving an important lesson to the young viewers.
... I just realized Dipper fixed a machine that can help him travel across time.
... damn, thats crazy Dip
One more episode till everything goes off the rails... I can NOT wait
Please stop writing these comments! They're not clever, can give unreasonable expectations, and remove the surprise of future good episodes.
@@normalgamergal they've already watched the next 4 episodes so you can calm down
11:14 the look on everyone's face when Soos reveals his infinite pizza is one of pure child-like excitement
probably the most wholesome episode of the show
Fun fact: Soos is inspired from Jesus Chambrot, a real friend of Alex Hirsch from Cal Arts.
it be funny if mabel did turn out to be his gamgam lmao
You never know
That would honestly be hilarious if that was confirmed.
next week is the beginning of some REALLY hidden keys
Rick and Calvin: discussing the possibilities and limits of the infinite pizza
Eric: staring into space in contemplation and hunger
Great reaction! This episode is so good!
Can't believe that you spotted the key so fast!
If Soos and the Real Girl wasn't the Only Season 2 episode centered on Soos, this one is the next and at the same time it also touches on Soos sad childhood on why his father doesn't come on his birthday, so I do feel bad for Soos, but the ending when Soos enjoy Dipper and Mabel and saying they were always there for him and were his family (apart from Abuelita) than his real father was sweet.
Plus this episode does continue Blendin Blandin's story after he was arrested by the Time Authorities just to clean up the Time Annomalies and want to seek vengeance on Dipper and Mabel for ruining his career and decide to battle him and trap the twins in the future, fortunately the twins but were able to redeem Blendin by giving his job back and giving him so hair.
Finally this episode is directed by Matt Braly who is the creator of Disney's Amphibia which you should do a reaction on very soon after Gravity Falls (unless The Owl House takes priority).
Not looking forward to the next episode after this, but I'm VERY excited on the next two in 2-3 weeks time.
Kinda sad when you think about the ending as his "family" went back home!
@Ren Cen but at least he has Stan, Wendy and the others
Plus the twins definitely visit a lot
@@jonasquinn7977 He doesn't have Stan though.
@@The_Hush_Dragon oh yeah, well he probably went to see Melanie so he wasn’t alone
@@jonasquinn7977 i thought Melody came and stay with Soos at the Mystery Shack at the end? I remember that she was working the counter during Dipper's monologue at the end, unless i'm mixing up fans' headcanon with canon🤔
Easily one of my favorite episodes of this incredible series
I'd love to see them watch The Owl House once they've wrapped up this season, especially with Alex Hirsch's connections with the show and everything
do they watch shows that haven't finished yet?
@@sukaisage they watched rwby.
@@robertpresley1503 good to know ty
Judging by their reaction to Good Omens, they'd be calling Amity and Luz "good buddies" even if they got married in the series finale LOL
Tbf they are a group of white, most likely cis straight men, in their 30's? If they do watch it, and I hope they do, maybe they'll be so oblivious it won't be spoiled for them.
Fun fact: Lolph and Time Baby are both voiced by Dave Wittenberg who also voices Kakashi!
Blind Wave should check out Amphibia once they're done with Gravity Falls. Some of the same crew worked on Amphibia and it's got a similar dark comedy action edge to it.
And the Owl House
Fuck it, lets do all the cartoon. She-Ra, Steven Universe, whatever the hell
@@shamsham1229 Steven Universe reaction would be great
I'm excited for you guys you're only three episodes away from a big reveal and a great story in four episodes!
I was eating while watching. Rick sudden shout of key, made me slightly choke with laughter
Kudos to Rick hahaha. 🎉🎉
Today I’ve felt really alone, and life is just so much right now, but these videos make me really happy, and I just wanna tell you guys that you’re like therapy to me! Keep it up
I find it funny how Soos's birthday is the same as mine (except the year)
Man, I could have sworn this episode came earlier.
Right?! There's a few episodes that I was like 'I could have sworn this was in Season 1'
One of my favorite episodes of gravity falls. Also I've always enjoyed the Rick and Morty connections with the show
I love watching your reactions specifically for the unhinged conversations at the end, reminds me of the way my friends talk about this kind of stuff
When Rick started reading out the secret message I was conviced it was gonna be "Don't do the Crime Warp again"
I am once again asking for this request since you are getting close. I recommend you watch episode 16 before episode 10 but after episode 9. It got held back in development and narrative-wise it makes more sense to watch it in that order. Again you don't have to but I would highly recommend it.
Its definitely too late, they record all these in advance and then pre-release the next four on patreon first
@@elainaveasey5831 I see, thanks for the info
Next week, probably a very interesting discussion on the ethics of mind control and love potions only for the comments to explain that the journal explained that the effects were temporary and would have worn off by the time Mable got there. also funny balloon
How is possible that I love the show even more with your reactions? 😭❤️
Aaron, that's not how paradoxes work. I feel like a lot of people don't know how paradoxes work.
I feel like he’s right, if their wish had resulted in anything about their situation changing then it would have created a paradox, because Soos would be a different person or in a different place in life, so the only way it works is if Soos’ life went the exact same as it did but just that his dad was also around
@@jonasquinn7977 In the episode, they explicitly state that the time wish lets the user fulfill their desires, including the ability to alter history, *paradox-free*
@@agusnicoletti3051 exactly, in order for the wish to be paradox free the situation cannot have changed so Soos can’t have been changed by his father being in his life
Enjoy the next episode because it is going to be the last "regular" episode because right after that the best and craziest episodes start !!!!
He comes!
"Is that a sandwich?" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 im going to use that every time someone asks me about sports from now on I love it!

I love this episode, one of my favourite.
It’s a very big week for gravity fall fans lol
im rewatching all the episodes before your posts to catch the key words in hope you guys find them. this one was hard and i didn't even realize i was looking at it the whole time.
“DEATH!”
I wonder if the guys know that Gravity Falls was supposed to be canonically linked to Rick And Morty? Because elements of both shows actually make appearances in each series, which is why Justin Roiland was partially involved (Disney inevitably shot down the attempt, due to the whole "Rick And Morty for mature adults" thing and "Disney/Warner Bros. competition" deal).
it's nice that soos sees Stan as a father to him ❤️
I literally love this episode
3 MORE WEEKS!!
13:31 ayee let’s go Mets lol
There’s even more info on the infinite pizza if you read journal 3 (do NOT read until you finish Gravity Falls due to serious spoilers). Soos is capable of changing it into any type of pizza and toppings he wants (I think this includes Cookie Pizza), it never gets cold, and the slice never grows moldy or old. I can’t remember who gave it (probably Dipper), but Soos was later given a briefcase specifically made to hold the pizza.
_So hungry._
~Erick 2022
soos is the only one who can eat the pizza for infinity... anyone else can eat it but it won't regenerate....and he can ask for different toppings...."info baised the real life journal 3"
is that a spoiler idk...
I vibe to your intro music every week 😂
The fact that 4 movie/TV buffs didn't pick up on the "Lolph" & "Dungren" joke is almost unforgivable for me.

I’ll have to start watching again soon.
You were so quick to, essentially, Jesus won so many globnars, he was a man of peace but mans could throw tf down lmao
It blew my mind when I found out that the Time Baby is apparently voiced by Dave Wittenberg, a.k.a. Kakashi from Naruto.
I actually feel like dipper will have a career in time.
He not only knows how to operate a time machine, he also won globnar. He wrote the instructions to build a time machine in his and mabels guidebook, and then a future version of dipper traveled back to redact the info. Meaning that either he is capable of building a time machine in practice as well, that version of dipper already works for timebaby.
Also he has links to time gangs soooooo 😅
