Funnily enough, the reason why Stan knew Gideon was a fraud was because he kept calling him Stanford. A real psychic would have known his actually name was Stanley
To be honest, I saw the license plate in the second episode and thought Gideon was just being pretentious calling him Stanford. That just everyone knew his name was Stanley. You would not believe how confused I was when the twin reveal was revealed and everyone called Ford Stanley before the new season dropped and we found out Stan was pretending to be Ford. That dropped and I went, ohhhh I was not supposed to know Stan was Stanley.
this dynamic is why little dipper is one of my favourite episodes, the scene where stan thinks gideon is having a mental breakdown kills me every time.
Unless that Kid is an evil super genius then yeah I’m pretty sure it actually makes sense and Stan is usually the one trying to make money. All these yahoos just fake their act.
The "Broom" scene always gets me laughing, partly because of the vastly contrasting attitudes between the two of them: Gideon acts like it's a Sherlock Holmes vs. Moriarty- esque duel of wits, while Stan acts like a raccoon or a possum just got into the Shack for the umpteenth time and needs to be driven out.
its really does makes sense given their age difference too, Stan has had to deal with a lot worse than some annoying brat trying to destroy his house. meanwhile for Gideon this One Old Man refusing to fall for his tricks is mostly likely the greatest amount of opposition he has ever faced in his entire life. like of COURSE Gideon takes this feud so much more seriously than it actually is
The pure unadulterated rage when he realizes Gideon claimed the beach chair at 0:14, 0:55 & 2:00 never fails to make me laugh like damn Alex Hirsch really sacrificed his poor vocal chords for those line deliveries🤣
Even to the point that Stanley knew Gideon's "ability" is a sham bc if he knew everything, he would've called Stanley by his actual name instead of "Stanford."
I always loved this because you only realize stanley KNOWS gideon isnt really a psychic because he calls STANLEY pines STANFORD pines, which is stanleys brother, not him
I like to imagine the mirrors Gideon smashed were actually worth $10 each but Stan ranked up the price as its in his nature as a lovable, greedy businessman.
The most unrealistic part of the entire show is that after Gideon blow a hole in the shack to steal the deed, Stan didn’t get out one of his ten guns, shoot him dead, and have himself, Wendy, Dipper, Soos, and Mabel bury his body out in the woods where no one would ever find him. But Alex has insisted this isn’t a show made for kids.
These two are literally my favorite characters. I love Thurop Van Orman (Gideon’s voice actor) and the fact that this is Alex Hirsch and his old boss (from when they worked on Flapjack together) voicing these two in such an absurd rivalry. The “light of my life” line still kills me after all these years 😂
1:54 if you think about it, it says “STAN Pines. Technically, his name (as of that point) was StanFORD. Since it wasn’t the full name, it wasn’t legally binding. At least that’s what I’ve come to.
To think that in the Pioneer Day episode, Stan not only roasts Gideon, but also Pacifica and I would even dare say the officers when he says to them "What are you going to do? "Put me in ye stocks!? *laughs*"
"You're the light of my life too, pal." is one of the greatest lines... ever. Just, that has ever been said. I get excited when the scene starts playing just because I'll get to hear it again. This show has some genius writing, but that specific line is the funniest gosh darn thing I've ever heard.
Gideon: Whyyyy Stanford, my arch Nemesis, we seem to be caught in a game of Cat and Mouse. But the Question is who is the Cat and who is the Mou- Stand: Soos! Broom 🧹 😨 💨 🧹😒
The real reason why Grunkle Stan’s and Gideon’s cartoon rivalry being the best and yet hilarious and kinda underrated is because of the fact that Stan isn’t okay with one of his kids dating someone who looks like they have dwarfism. Haha. Silly Gideon fr like wanted to date Mabel so bad that Mabel said she doesn’t want to lol. 😆💀 3:59 - Also this is gotta be Gideon’s best quote bc its so underrated that it needs more attention haha 😆😆

Phony psychic vs. a con man. I'd put my money on the con man too
😂 I love how he hisses at the broom
Gideon's JUST SO ANNOYING, of course we're rooting for Stan
Funnily enough, the reason why Stan knew Gideon was a fraud was because he kept calling him Stanford. A real psychic would have known his actually name was Stanley

Wow, a rivalry between an adult and a child that doesn't revolve around the "this adult is pathetic for feuding with a child."

Oh, Stan is still pathetic for feuding with a child but its fucking hilarious lmfao

Regardless of how much Gideon acts like a “boss”, he still didn’t know that “Stanford Pines” was actually his near identical twin brother.
Even to the point that Stanley knew Gideon's "ability" is a sham bc if he knew everything, he would've called Stanley by his actual name instead of "Stanford."
"You're the light of my life, too, pal."

3:59 best underrated quote from Gideon😂
2:30 pretty sure he was just jacking up the prices to rip him off and make him pay him extra back
That's definitely something Stan would do 🤣🤣
Why break even when you can make a profit?
100%. he probably stole them, anyway. just like the wax figures
But Alex has insisted this isn’t a show made for kids.
those 10 guns would've come in handy in so many different occasions throughout the whole show
the guns were specifically for people bringing in ladders. all other threats didn't cover that
Probably would've happened if Gideon wasn't a literal 10yo
The 2 best rivalry’s in history, a miss understood mad doctor and a platypus. And a 70 year old man a bratty child

Gideon is why I got my tubes tied
