- NEW LAP TIME : • 2024 Tesla Model 3 Per...
I took the new Performance model 3 out for a modded baseline run at Laguna Seca. Running street summer 265/40/18 Kumho PS91 tires on the Aspira AF-10 18x9 street set up.
This was modded with MPP Front Upper Control Arm with NO SHIM (-3 degrees of camber front) and MPP Rear Camber Arm (set to about -2.8 degrees)
For brakes we did a two piece rotor replacement for both front and rear. Replaced the pads with some more aggressive track pads. Replaced the brake lines with Aspira Stainless Steel lines, flushed the fluid with Endless RF-650.
Unfortunately the tires couldn't hold up to the driving and got greasy after 1.5 laps, I'll be back again shortly with some 200tw tires for a better comparison.

Respect! Even kept the airbag warning notice hanging out the glovebox!😂🎉
Better aero and tires and it would be flying. Thanks for sharing. Nice save halfway thru
So much for Teslas not being able to corner. That was an impressive run
That’s like one of the few things they’re known for lol Tesla is one of the few American car companies that makes a car that can actually turn and not drift into a crowd *cough cough mustangs, Camaros, chargers, challengers* this and corvettes are essentially the only American cars that can make a turn at over 10MPH without losing grip and earning the nickname “crowd killer”
Who said they're not able to corner? What
@@CanisoGaming I’ve been following Tesla for about ten years. I’ve seen so many comments online and on UA-cam saying that Teslas are a “one trick pony” and only fast in a straight line. I’ve seen this incorrect sentiment countless times
@@CanisoGaming Right? Lol!
MODDED.
Nice run! The only thing that stuck out to me was your MPH before braking into T2. Takes courage but stay in it over the crest and I think you can pull a few tenths off
yeah that was my first session of the day, by the end of the day I was catching some air time haha
hey mate nice to see you here on a tesla video, I follow your gt4 videos! have a gt4 and tesla
I'm convinced this is actually Gran Turismo with VR
😂😂😂 CGI IRL
I was playing gran turismo right before I watched this and was like "dang, these graphics are good!"
Thanks for sharing
Can’t wait to see what you guys can do there!
Congratulations for your work! Keep it up.
damn, its a nice run, hows the handling compare to previous model if you driven before?
I think it's hardly comparable to the stock M3. If you read the video description, you'll see what has been modified on this car 😮
I have my old track times posted on the channel from the last gen performance
I have the last gen Model 3 Performance on MountainPass coilovers and it handles nicely. Not as nice as my modified BMW M3 though.
A G meter with a 1 G baseline is very scientific, but in cars kind of unusual I think?
As humans we have kind of accepted that 1 G is happening in standstill or on a steady course. We want to see what the car is doing relative to standing still or cruising.
Sounds like the tires are barley hanging on👍
For a car that can only do 3 minutes of performance driving before having a meltdown, that was a decent lap.
Car overheated and died 2 minutes later 😂
So somewhere between a Porche Cayman R and a V12 Vantage S.... not too bad for a car that was understeering all over that track.
@@UltimateCARNUT my friend Steven, currently hold the track record for fastest Model 3 ua-cam.com/video/bu-xRjEcQiM/v-deo.htmlsi=lu3m9PWxhPDV9hL4
Great driving!!! Today I experienced brakes over heating and battery overheating at Buttonwillow it was over 110 degrees today. But it always occurred right after the warm up lap so I wasn’t even able to get one clean hot lap before performance was reduced. Did you experience that at Laguna?
Hey David, it’s Tim
Rishie and I commented on your Facebook post earlier. I did get the battery thermal limit after 1.5 laps. Laguna has a lot of elevation gains so it definitely heats up the battery somewhat quicker
@@omg_tesla thank you 🙏 I appreciate all the help & absolutely epic driving my man!!
Have you had model y performance do close to any of the previous m3p times or come close with mods?
Don't think it's possible to match the times. It will consistently be slower by a few seconds is my guess because it weighs 400lbs more, does 0-60 in .4 seconds slower, is less aerodynamics overall, etc. Although the extra wide stock tires may help.
Y's are a lot heavier and have a higher center of gravity which will definitely affect corner times.
Question about when the implant firmware will be ready?
Great driving. What track day organization do you go out with?
went out with Speed SF
Impressive run , What’s your regen level set ?
Modded and still in the 40's....
Stock one has already done 1:39, M2 hasn't hit 1:3s Stock yet🎉
@@DuckHunterGaming The new M2 hasn't been released yet.
@@mattyoz0 huh
@@DuckHunterGamingSo slower than its competitor, the M3 G80....and LS is in favour of the Model 3...
Already slowing down in front straight after 1 lap
when you play a videogame and set motor sound to 0
Nice
How wide of a wheel/tire can you fit up front? When are the R-compound tires coming?!
So how many laps does it take for it to start power limiting because of thermals? I’m guessing it starts to slow down significantly after only 1-2 laps..
@@rustlerboi1052 we posted the full session here

@@omg_tesla cool thx!
Doesn’t look like a well balanced car to me…
@@taforth check out the new lap time in the top of the description, did some fine tuning and on proper 200tw tire
@@omg_tesla I wasn’t referring to the lap time, but rather to the point that it appeared to understeer a lot, and then go into snap oversteer. Is this not the case?
@@taforth with the set up I was running yes, but the other run I did was much better. It was more stable than this run with a different sway bar setup and tires.
@@omg_tesla look forward to watching it then. Am absolutely considering this car. Just not happy with the current battery/range it has.
Thanks for sharing the video! What was the state of charge at the beginning and end of the lap? I tried to zoom in on the video but couldn't make it out clearly.
it probably loses like 5% per run
Nice, what was the regen set to? Any overheating problems?
1:41, modded???? Thats.....slow.
Need to show the rear view.
Impressive for the tyre
I thought this is video game 😂
With the most amount of respect, am I missing something..?? I’m seeing everyone praise the better handling of these new M3P’s, yet the videos I keep seeing suggest these things have understeer issue. Additionally, I just test drove one a few days ago, and also felt what seems to be an understeer/uncomposed suspension issue. Can someone help bridge the gap with my understanding? I really want to like these cars and potentially buy one eventually but need to understand where my understanding is differing from everyone else. TYIA
@@_zach a lot of under steering issues is from the staggered wheel and tire set up. That’s kinda where we prefer a squared set up. Having a narrower tire up front is giving less contact/ grip in the front and that’s why it’s understeers a lot more. I prefer a squared set of 275 all around and having the same level of grip helps this under steering issues a long with a sway bar upgrade.
@@_zach if you watch this new video with the different set up I ran you can see far less under/over steer. ua-cam.com/video/2wP967u7uF8/v-deo.htmlsi=4oJgIWQBbPLGcDHX
@@_zach here’s my friend’s 2024 performance who currently hold the fastest lap time for the Model 3 at Laguna. His 3 is a complete track build

Gr8 !
Power reducing after 1 lap already. Junk

Yes, that’s my friend Steven. We were both at the same event
Is this with stock tires and brakes?
Please read the description
Got it.
Time is not impressive. Especially not for a performance oriented 500hp car lmao
Any overheating issues?
Still have battery heating issues. that can't get solved since it has more power on the same battery pack as last gen. The car is pulling more power on the high end so it will create more heat. I had Regen set to 45% on this session which help reduced it from heating up quickly, but still is a problem
@@omg_tesla Find a way to pre-cool the battery by a few degrees before your runs. Battery has high thermal mass, so precooling by even a few degrees will make a big difference.
@@omg_teslaturn off regen?

Did you see U tuber Speed Phenom Did a 1:27.5 in his new 750s, Faster than Randy Pobst in the Senna.
The track is also 3 seconds faster from the repave than when Randy drove, still impressive but not apples to apples.
