It brings me SO much joy that you put *Barbarian* as your #1. Not only that, but putting *Watcher* so high up on the list and even in your Top 5 makes me equally as happy. I’ve just added a bunch of movies from this list to my watchlist, so thank you for that!
I did a double feature of Pearl and Barbarian at the movies this year and can’t imagine how that would have impacted me if I loved them as much as you did lol. I liked Pearl and while I thought Barbarian was certainly a crazy first watch by the end I wasn’t loving it. I just didn’t love the tone of the second half. Especially in the last 20 minutes or so. Also Watcher was absolutely incredible to me I loved the tension and thought it was a near perfect thriller tbh.
For me the two best horror movies this year were "Speak no evil" and "Soft & Quiet". They are two films that leave you reflecting, they have a solid story and they won't leave you indifferent.
Speak No Evil pissed me off so much. That was the worst horror protagonists I've ever seen. I wanted to strangle them myself. 😂😂 Only people I felt bad for were the kids.
I thought Violent Night was so much fun. Even the gore felt comedic mostly. But the comedy mostly landed for me and I just had a good time from start to finish! I love a self aware movie. I thought they managed to blend different generes very well!
Pearl delivers on almost every aspect. The beauty of it and the underlining horror is untenable. The acting from Mia and the others makes it all the more incredible. Love the period, the style and the music.
You are absolutely correct about No Exit. The book is significantly better, with Hitchcockian levels of tension basically from beginning to end. And the end is so much better. I'd also recommend Hairpin Bridge, by the same author.
Thank you for acknowledging "Watcher". I also saw it in theaters, it was probably the first horror movie I saw this year and I was so confused why it wasn't getting as much notice as it deserved. This year was such a tremendously good year for horror, particularly original horror films - 2023 has a high bar to clear. Thank you for your channel, you and Emma def influenced many of the films I saw this past year. Have to ask, where did you get the NOPE shirt you wore on one of your reviews? Looking forward to more great content in 2023.
I loved Fall. It was so simple, yet it brought out a fear I didn’t even know I had lol. My palms and feet were sweating the entire time. And there was one twist that got me. For a relatively unheard of movie, I thought it was very good.
I'd recommend checking out The Ledge. It's a similar concept. A girl is on the run from bad guys and gets trapped on a ledge. Definitely freaked me out because I am very afraid of heights.
This is the year I finally started watching horror, I haven’t gotten around to a lot of stuff but so far I’m IN LOVE with bodies bodies bodies! Was very surprised by how fun and accurate it was, def one of my comfort movies almost entirely because of Alice. One of my favorite movie characters PERIOD.
definitely agree that Barbarian was the best horror movie this year!! Nope is my second favorite of the year, but i get why it’s not everyone’s favorite jordan peele movie (though it’s definitely mine)
Loved this video!! Such a good way to do the recap going thru all your Letterboxd. Also very glad to see Bodies Bodies Bodies in the top 5 i feel like it’s not getting as much as it deserves this ranking season 💖
It's funny cause X is a 4.5/5 for me and Pearl is like a 3.5/5 for me. Just goes to show how people can differ, but regardless I love knowing other people's rankings, it's nice seeing other perspectives and to view a movie differently is hindsight
Both movies were great, but I feel like Pearl was extremely unique, I've literaly never seen any movie like that, and it stirred some fears that are not used often in horror, while I could think of a lot of 90s movies like X (which was the goal, and they made a great job at doing it with a "modern" touch) But yeah, interesting to see different opinions!

I once and awhile watch your stuff as it’s recommended to me and every time I think you need to be going way, way deeper in your discussions. A lot of these criticisms are just like “it was weird,” or, “yeah -- I don’t get it.” You have a quarter million subs and I’d think you’d want to actually offer people some interesting insights/observations. As it stands, this is just a person making a list of stuff they watched.
@@nathaniel9526 Same. I liked how uneasy the first third of the movie made me and the tension that built. It was a great set up. Then the surprise happened and the resulting revelation I felt was lacking.
I absolutely loved it but I convinced someone I worked with to watch it and all he came away with the next day at work was just what the fuck did you convince me to watch. I'd say that's a pretty good reaction
watcher was my absolute favorite movie of the year and is probably one of my all time favorites! it was so amazing. i agree it’s not the most original story but i think it is a 100% perfect take on a story/trope/tradition that has yet to be executed so beautifully by anyone else. was so excited to see it so high up on the list!!! glad someone else loved it :)
my favorite this year is definitely Pearl. i have never been obsessed w such horror movie. it really changes my perspective on X. im very excited for Maxxxine next year, i hope it's as good as the two movies before.
@Luke Abbott X was released first, it has its own storyline but there's also some hint about Pearl that you might not understand if you don't watch Pearl first. so i would recommend watching Pearl first so you get a better view of everything.
I kept expecting Bones & All, and even thought that it was number 1 when it still hasn’t been mentioned 😅 But still, thank you for sharing all your thoughts and ratings.
2022 is such a good year for movies in general honestly. Yeah there were the usual remakes and whatever but there was so many amazing creative movies, it’s made me have hope for the future when it comes to movies. (EEAAO) is my favorite movie of the year though hands down. I’ve seen it three or four times and have cried at least somewhat each time
X and Pearl reigned supreme for me this year. Dashcam though was a pleasant surprise for me as well-gory, suspenseful, bonkers and funny. I don’t care what Annie Hardy believes politically or otherwise, she won a fan in me. She was hilarious. Watcher was also unexpectedly great. I saw it alone in the theater too and found it utterly absorbing.
Dashcam was hard to watch in that she’s a terrible protagonist but I found scary as hell in certain spots. That movie was worth it for me just for the scene where she fights with the lady in the car for quite a while & then it cuts to her being tied up in the seatbelt in the backseat with Annie having a shaky handed stress cigarette in the front seat 😂
My sweetie and I went to see Black Phone in theaters and we both left feeling like we were missing part of the story. We needed a little more back story on Hawkes character or something. It felt like we came in at the middle.
The lack of character development on “The Grabber” was 💯 intentional. The director has even mentioned it in interviews. I’m personally glad they didn’t get us any information on The Grabber. It wasn’t necessary to the film and makes him a scarier villain. Giving him a backstory would humanize a character that is a monster. And I don’t know how you felt like you walked into the middle of the film. The film has a very strong introduction that establishes Finn, his friends, and his family…with the introduction of the Grabber as he is slowly taking kids. My biggest issue with the film is most of the stuff in the basement. It just felt very repetitive and it felt like a waste of a really good premise. I wish they had done more with the supernatural and Black Phone element of the film. But, I still really enjoyed the film overall.
@@kristopherschermerhorn998I heard that there was a sequel coming out in 2025 but now looking at it… does it really need a sequel/prequel? It came to a conclusive end: child murder killed, the kid goes back to school instead of a therapist. Okay, cool. I don’t want a backstory in the grabber, we already know who he is, I don’t want to sympathise with him, he is evil, end of story. Stop sympathising with killers.
I actually think Crimes of the Future was my favourite film of the year. I wouldn't really even say its a horror. It has body horror elements of course but I think it's such fantastic exploration of climate anxiety, the art world and what it means to be human.
Sarah! Thank you for all the content this year, so glad you had so much fun and entertainment ❤️ hope 2023 is as great as 2022 for you. Sending love to you, baby Fern, Ryan and the cats 🫶📀 My fav this year is Barbarian! And the worst is maybe Men.
Thank you SO much for these! I get to see some of your recommendations that are available on the streaming platforms I have. Your hair is goals, queen. And- thank you for turning me on to Etah Love ❤
Ik it's gonna be controversial, but my personal favorite movie of the year is actually "Fall", I got so immersed in it and cared about the characters so much that it ended up affecting me much more than all the other films I saw this year. Thank you for yet another interesting ranking! Wish you and your now bigger family happy holidays! ❤️
i wish i could watch that movie because i’ve heard great things about it but i’m terrified of heights i can’t even watch youtube videos of people doing parkour because i get anxiety 😥
@@itsokandres It's okay, I would recommend 47 meters down. It's quite similar to "Fall" and it would give you a similar experience without having to deal with your fear of heights. Just beware that it's a shark movie. :)
I agree that this year was a great one to be a horror fan! I had so much fun haha. Sorry I’m one of those people who’s leaves comments before the video is done. I am ashamed lol. But I wanted to add that I think it’s fantastic that you’re embracing your natural eyebrows. It’s not cringe at all. You rock ‘em! Favorite movie of the year was Barbarian, and least favorite movie I think was Grimcutty. Thank you for making great content! Have a happy new year!! 🎉
My heart dropped when you rated Prey so low 😭 but of course, if you’re not a fan of the Predator series a new one probably isn’t gonna excite you. I loved it because it really went back to its roots and created something fresh for the series to run with, and obviously I enjoyed it so much because I’m a lifelong Alien enjoyer!! Prey was so good, man, but I can totally understand still wanting more horror aspects from the series!
I hate what's happened to Alien and Predator over the years and always prefer the originals but I'm a hoe for well designed extraterrestrial antagonists 👽
I think it's crazy to say that it doesn't bring anything new to horror. When do we ever see an indigenous perspective for any movie, let alone a genre movie? Great cast, solid movie.
@@triciac6531 yeah that’s what i thought too! It brought so much to the table, saying it didn’t feels a little invalidating, not only to how I and people who enjoyed Prey view it, but to the writers and directors
This might be the most controversial Horror ranking ever made! I love it! Hahahaha I disagree for most of it but I also think it’s always interesting to see how other horror fans have such different expectations. I also remember you talking about how you just couldn’t stomach gore during your pregnancy and by knowing that it explains A LOT! Haha Def didn’t deserve the hate messages you got! Take care! X
Agree. Crimes of the Future I did not finish and Barbarian was perfect. I would rank Master a bit higher, but I have not seen all of these mentioned. Thank you, congratulations, and happy new year!
No Exit is one of my favorite books of all time! It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Sadly, the movie changed some things that took away from the story. I’d highly recommend checking out the book!
This was very helpful. You had a couple of movies I haven’t seen anyone else talk about. I looking forward to see those. I also see interesting comments. This seem to be a great movie channel. I’m a new listener obviously. The animated movies in your list was great.
My daughter is 16 now- she doesn’t like horror at all and I have tried to make her a horror lover. She is her own person- that is something I didn’t foresee happening when she was a baby 😆. Congratulations! Girls are the best!🎉🥳🎊 ❤️from Sweden
How did I miss American carnage? Hope you’re doing well and baby is good and you had a happy holiday season ❤️ happy new year can’t wait to follow along with your channels in the new year 🥳❤️👻
bodies bodies bodies wasn't what i was expecting, but it was so fun to watch and the best utilziation of pete davidson's Whole Thing i can imagine. i also loved barbarian SO much.
I love all your recs and genuinely look forward to this every year ❤ it’s gotten to the point my bf will ask me if you’ve talked about any good movies recently because we always love your horror recommendations and he knows I get most from you 😂
Speak No Evil was so surprising. I got so much second-hand embarrassment from the two families interacting, but in a good way, because it just shows how good the acting was.
It's a much better movie the second time around. If you know how it ends and what the point of it is, you'll notice all kinds of things you missed the first time around.
@@glyndwr15 I should give it a seconds watch! The funny thing is I myself am a people-pleaser so I would totally get myself into this mess too if I were a character on that movie, so it's even more scary.
This was the year I started watching movies (more than once in a blue moon), especially horror, and it was thanks to all your recs, so thank you for that! Great ranking, from the ones I’ve seen I totally agree! (I think my fave movie might be The Menu, I can’t wait to rewatch it!). As for Crimes of the Future...look, as I’ve said, I’ve just started watching movies, I don’t know about directors and stuff, and I like body horror and stuff! But man, I was bored. But I watched Antiviral the other night and loved it, so I need to keep watching these Cronenbergs movies I guess. Cronenberg son, 1 point so far lmao.
Watcher was so amazing. I’ve been a fan of Maika Monroe since It Follows and I was so happy to see her back in the horror genre and have such an amazing performance. I feel bad bc this movie got overlooked by so many bc it came out the same weekend as Crimes of the Future unfortunately. Also 100% agree with your ranking of Crimes of the Future. It wasn’t good and I don’t understand what I’m missing about it haha
Great list! I myself watched a lot this year so many in fact that I can only do a top 10 so here's my controversial top 10 best horror movies of 2022. Also I don't have any worst horror movies as I'm one person that's easily pleased by every horror movie I watch. 1. BlumHouse's Dashcam 2. Hellbender 3. Death Valley 4. Searchlight Pictures' The Menu 5. BlumHouse's Halloween Ends 6. BlumHouse's Next Of Kin 7. Pearl 8. Barbarian 9. Beast 10. Orphan:First Kill I know Death Valley and the seventh Paranormal Activity were released last year but I included them here based solely on their DVD release.
Have you seen Bones and All? It definitely surprised me as someone who isn't a huge fan of Luca Guadagnino. It easily made my Top 5, maybe even Top 3 of 2022 releases.
Best: Pearl and Resurrection are tied for me! Worst: Monstrous We watched almost all of the exact same movies! Glad you mentioned Master, it was so good. One recommendation: Decision to Leave (more thriller, but very gripping)
Thank you! There were several on here, such as Resurrection, Watcher, Significant Other, and Master, that I completely missed and have to add to my watch list. Totally agree with your top few choices as they were excellent films. Hope we get another strong horror year in 2023. Happy New Year!
Nice list! I've never heard of Dashcam & I'm looking forward to checking it out. My top 10: 1. X, 2 The Sadness, 3. Nope, 4. Dark Glasses, 5. The Menu, 6. Pearl, 7. Holy Spider, 8. Mad God 🤷, 9. The Innocents, 10. Resurrection
Go in expecting a lot of satire and camp (all coming from an intentionally annoying and horrible lead) mixed with fantastic horror elements and you'll have such a fun time. Maybe skip the first 20 minutes and go straight to when she picks up the old woman. The rest of it is so good and there's something fun about watching a horrible person get instant karma every time she makes an offensive joke and running like a chicken with her head cut off
I never go to theaters but I saw Barbarian the day before it released at an event my local theater was having for one reason. I’ve always wished I was old enough to experience The Blair Witch Project like my parents did: an iconic film, in a theater, completely blind before anyone else. And it really felt (and maybe still feels) like that’s the sort of film we had on our hands and I couldn’t miss it.
I was about 16 when I saw Blair Witch, we saw it while we were on summer vacation in a small town cinema at midnight! Complete with wooden floors and rickety old leather chairs. We then walked back to our campsite and slept in a tent, all the parents kept trying to scare us the rest of the night by shaking our tents and making weird noises. I’ve never held my bladder for that long before, there was no way I was unzipping that tent! Haha! One of the best memories of my life!
I saw Blair Witch in theaters when I was 10 😂 my parents were convinced k was going to have nightmares but I absolutely loved it and it sparked my interest in horror ❤
I'm so incredibly happy for you that you enjoyed this year of horror so much considering you were kinda down on it in the beginning of this year! My ranking: The Menu > Pearl > Barbarian > X > Nope > Fresh > Orphan: First Kill > Bones and All > Incantation > Scream > Bodies Bodies Bodies > Smile > Crimes of the Future > The Fifth Thoracic Vertebra > Speak No Evil > Men > Watcher > Resurrection > Texas Chainsaw Massacre > You Won't Be Alone > Choose or Die > Skinamarink > Deadware
9:34 47 meters down totally gave me extreme anxiety! The ocean just freaks me out!! "Fall" was kind of mehhh I get if your afraid of heights but for me the ocean just freaks me out a lot more.
I agree with your number one pick! Barbarian is easily my top choice. The worst for me was the Texas Chainsaw remake. Absolutely horrendous imo lol. I do wish that people talked about Fresh more. It is in my top three of the year for sure
First of all, I love your list, although I was surprised you didn’t put Pearl first, but I think your list is pretty damn accurate! And second of all I just want to share with you that I just watched your favorite movie of all time yesterday! interstellar was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!! I can totally understand why it’s your favorite movie!!! I would definitely put it in my favorite sci-fi movies of all time! And I think it’s one of the most beautiful scores I’ve ever heard too!! What an amazing spectacle of a movie! A true masterpiece!!!!
Rebecca hall has ALWAYS been a must watch!! There was a movie she was in called the awakening i think that she went to a boys school after WW1 and she was a paranormal debunking person and was there to calm the kids down but all kinds of weirdness starts going on! Also, any stop motion movie deserves at least 3.5 stars out of 5 immediately if only for how hard it is to make!!😁
COMPLETELY agree with the scream ranking. I don't really like the scream franchise because its more mainstream then other franchises and it usually has boring kills.
Watcher really really got under my skin! It could have been another woman in the window movie, but the way it really makes the character (and the viewer) feel so isolated, and the really dark, disturbing way the victims are described really just had me chilled all over. Favorite horror film of the year is Barbarian, and it's also in my top 3 films of the year. It's a very difficult film to watch (content warning for sexualized and racialized violence) but Soft & Quiet is by far the most disturbing film I saw this year and if you can stomach it I think it's a very effective film with an important message. My least favorite horror films this year were Men and Bones and All. Men was stylistically very interesting (and it turned me on to Leslie Duncan which is a plus; thanks Men!) but the actual message of the film felt so basic and boring, but delivered in an absurdly convoluted and gross way. Bones and All just pissed me off so much. People are hailing it as a modern horror masterpiece and to me it's just high brow Twilight with cannibals. Also I take issue with the way it depicts queerness with cannibalism as a really miscalculated metaphor.
Favorite: Barbarian, Least Favorite: My Best Friend’s Exorcism You should check out The Banshees of Inisheren. Not really a horror movie, but there’s definitely some violence, and spooky/unsettling aspects I think you’ll like. (Yes, there is a form of a banshee in it.) It’s probably my favorite film of 2022. Thanks for all your videos over the year, and have a happy new year!
My favorite out of the ones I've watched was Bodies bodies bodies, it was a great surprise and the worst one was Texas Chainsaw Massacre I was rooting for Leatherface the entire time. I also watched Audition and I loved the cinematography as well, Barbarian is on my watchlist I'll watch it soon
disagree with like 60% of your ranking, but it’s always interesting to find out why something that vibed with me fell flat for someone, or what someone has seen in something I didn’t like, and I love how you are always respectful of how other people may have felt about a film! have a great 2023~
Would love to see your review on Skinamarink. I'm actually all for "elevated horror" and am A24 fiend,-love all the pretentious stuff that most ppl can't stand. But that one...not sure how review it. I think it would have worked better as a short, but over an hour of dutch angles of ceilings, was even too much for me.
Now that's a comprehensive list! Agreed about Black Phone, completely underwhelming and overhyped. X is my favourite horror of the year but haven't seen Resurrection. Big Rebecca Hall fan after The Night House. Did you see Hellraiser? Much better than I expected.
My favorite movie of the year was definitely Bones and All. However, I can see it’s not for everybody, but the movie did speak to me and caught me completely off guard, I wasn’t expecting such a genuine, touching, passionate movie, and it’s now one of my top 5 favorite movies of all time. The worst one was the new Texa’s Chainsaw Massacre, for sure. The original is one of the best movies ever made and they really did massacre it lol so awful what they did to Leatherface, it felt completely unrelated. But Barbarian, Nope, Hatching and Pearl were also favorites of mine, I loved them to pieces! Smile and Watcher were great surprises, too!
Girl, I have to tell you, I literally left your video and got a subscription to Shudder. Then I watched Resurrection, and OMG I am so glad that I did! That movie was phenomenal. Next I’m gonna watch Watcher. Love these lists!
Kind of surprised to see you recommend a movie with such a huge SA plot as your #1; I typically come to this channel bc you tend to specifically avoid movies with rape content. Personally definitely would not recommend going into it without any knowledge like you recommend in your longer form review. No judgment at all for you -- always respect and love to hear your thoughts -- but I'd love to see a review where you do include spoilers now that it's been out for a while!
I think A24 is going to deliver next year. Pearl and barbarian we're so mind bending and unique, I'm excited to see what else they have planned.

watcher was my absolute favorite movie of the year and is probably one of my all time favorites! it was so amazing. i agree it’s not the most original story but i think it is a 100% perfect take on a story/trope/tradition that has yet to be executed so beautifully by anyone else. was so excited to see it so high up on the list!!! glad someone else loved it :)
my favorite this year is definitely Pearl. i have never been obsessed w such horror movie. it really changes my perspective on X. im very excited for Maxxxine next year, i hope it's as good as the two movies before.
@Luke Abbott X was released first, it has its own storyline but there's also some hint about Pearl that you might not understand if you don't watch Pearl first. so i would recommend watching Pearl first so you get a better view of everything.
mia goth is incredible. i am also very excited for maxxxine.
@Luke Abbott Watch them in the order they were released. X then Pearl
I prefer Pearl over X. Mia Goth performance alone is a win for me. X was pretty predictable, nothing new.
I kept expecting Bones & All, and even thought that it was number 1 when it still hasn’t been mentioned 😅
But still, thank you for sharing all your thoughts and ratings.
I think I remember her mentioning on Instagram that she wouldn’t be watching that one.
@@allllysiaaa did she say why?
But, I still really enjoyed the film overall.
that’s exactly how i felt after watching Barbarian
@@depressedboy2212 Me too!!!
That's the point of the film - we aren't supposed to know what his backstory
Sending love to you, baby Fern, Ryan and the cats 🫶📀
My fav this year is Barbarian! And the worst is maybe Men.
Great ranking! Watcher is in my top 5 as well… absolutely loved it!
Thank you SO much for these! I get to see some of your recommendations that are available on the streaming platforms I have. Your hair is goals, queen. And- thank you for turning me on to Etah Love ❤
I honestly love the no eyebrows look! 28:10 Looks so good and I’m glad that you’re embracing your natural beauty! ❤
nah, no eyebrows is ... well ... honestly ... ugly
THIS
You are not alone and I’m so happy to see this comment. It’s my #1 movie of the year also. Best theatre experience too.
i wish i could watch that movie because i’ve heard great things about it but i’m terrified of heights i can’t even watch youtube videos of people doing parkour because i get anxiety 😥
liked it but the character motives are way too stupid imo
Prey was the worst Predator movie ever made.
@@JoeBoxerNo1 that’s fair, that’s your opinion
This might be the most controversial Horror ranking ever made! I love it! Hahahaha I disagree for most of it but I also think it’s always interesting to see how other horror fans have such different expectations. I also remember you talking about how you just couldn’t stomach gore during your pregnancy and by knowing that it explains A LOT! Haha Def didn’t deserve the hate messages you got! Take care! X
My favorites were Studio 666 and Terrifier 2. My least favorite...I don't know I didn't like Dashcam too much. Good lists and cool video Sarah!👉😃👈
Thank you for including Umma. I think that one got a little overlooked, and I agree, it was solid and Sandra Oh is great. Great list!
Master, too. So sad that these great movies got overlooked. Nice callouts.
i knew it was going to be pearl or barbarian for u but wow i’m surprised u picked pearl 2nd!!! barbarian is also my #1 :’)
Hope you’re doing well and baby is good and you had a happy holiday season ❤️ happy new year can’t wait to follow along with your channels in the new year 🥳❤️👻
I'm 100% with you re: The Black Phone. I wanna chalk it up to Joe Hill fandom, but even that is a stretch, I think...
UGH PEARL WAS SOO CLOSE 😂😢 loved this, happy new year💖✨
bodies bodies bodies wasn't what i was expecting, but it was so fun to watch and the best utilziation of pete davidson's Whole Thing i can imagine. i also loved barbarian SO much.
Great video, I totall agree with you on Crimes of the Future but I loved Mad God. I could not turn away for 2 seconds. It was intense.
My two favourite films from 2022 were Everything Everywhere All At Once and The Menu ❤
Hi Sarah :) Favorites: bones and all, Pearl, and Barbarian. Least favorite: Halloween Ends!
Critically early and planning to listen as I make dinner 🎉 Happy Thursday!
Great review. Just watched on break at work and you got a sub! Can't wait to dive into some of your more in depth reviews.
Great list! I myself watched a lot this year so many in fact that I can only do a top 10 so here's my controversial top 10 best horror movies of 2022. Also I don't have any worst horror movies as I'm one person that's easily pleased by every horror movie I watch.
1. BlumHouse's Dashcam
2. Hellbender
3. Death Valley
4. Searchlight Pictures' The Menu
5. BlumHouse's Halloween Ends
6. BlumHouse's Next Of Kin
7. Pearl
8. Barbarian
9. Beast
10. Orphan:First Kill
I know Death Valley and the seventh Paranormal Activity were released last year but I included them here based solely on their DVD release.
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Hellbender! The makeup and VFX were so good
Very unique list. Hellbender was in my top 3 as well.
Girl I LOVE YOU for including "You wont be alone" and " The House " !!!!
Watching the house now 👀
@@polarpop666 SLAYYYYY IT IS SO GOODDD
"I thought it was going to be like every other move I've seen, and it wasn't." Shouldn't that be a positive point for a movie, and not a negative one?
Have you seen Bones and All? It definitely surprised me as someone who isn't a huge fan of Luca Guadagnino. It easily made my Top 5, maybe even Top 3 of 2022 releases.
I’d like to hear more about the plot holes you mentioned in The Black Phone.
Bones and All. Will you do a review for this movie?
She said on Instagram she won't do a review for that movie but Spooky Astronauts has a good review on it :)
Great video as always!
I'd be very interested to hear your thoughts on "Bones and All".
Best: Pearl and Resurrection are tied for me!
Worst: Monstrous
We watched almost all of the exact same movies!
My number 1 of the year was Fresh, it's quickly become one of my comfort movies that I just throw on while cleaning 😅
Doing a catch up of your videos. Thanks for making my watchlist longer!
Nice list! I've never heard of Dashcam & I'm looking forward to checking it out. My top 10: 1. X, 2 The Sadness, 3. Nope, 4. Dark Glasses, 5. The Menu, 6. Pearl, 7. Holy Spider, 8. Mad God 🤷, 9. The Innocents, 10. Resurrection
im not exaggerating when i say if you watch dashcam youre gonna need a hell of a lot of patience for the lead character bc she is the worst.
Go in expecting a lot of satire and camp (all coming from an intentionally annoying and horrible lead) mixed with fantastic horror elements and you'll have such a fun time. Maybe skip the first 20 minutes and go straight to when she picks up the old woman. The rest of it is so good and there's something fun about watching a horrible person get instant karma every time she makes an offensive joke and running like a chicken with her head cut off
@@mercedesdrake9113 ha! thanks for the head's up
meanwhile I gave crimes of the future 5 stars lol love you and your videos always I agree 2022 has been great to us, let’s hope 2023 delivers too!
I never go to theaters but I saw Barbarian the day before it released at an event my local theater was having for one reason. I’ve always wished I was old enough to experience The Blair Witch Project like my parents did: an iconic film, in a theater, completely blind before anyone else. And it really felt (and maybe still feels) like that’s the sort of film we had on our hands and I couldn’t miss it.
that's how I saw the Blair Witch, best movie theater experience ever
I was about 16 when I saw Blair Witch, we saw it while we were on summer vacation in a small town cinema at midnight! Complete with wooden floors and rickety old leather chairs. We then walked back to our campsite and slept in a tent, all the parents kept trying to scare us the rest of the night by shaking our tents and making weird noises. I’ve never held my bladder for that long before, there was no way I was unzipping that tent! Haha!
One of the best memories of my life!
@@sarahrichardson3692 @MikeG82
Love these replies so much
I saw Blair Witch in theaters when I was 10 😂 my parents were convinced k was going to have nightmares but I absolutely loved it and it sparked my interest in horror ❤
Great video. 2022 was a great year for horror movies. 'Barbarian' was my favorite too.
Also, any stop motion movie deserves at least 3.5 stars out of 5 immediately if only for how hard it is to make!!😁
I’m so happy you made this video! Also, you look so happy! ❤
COMPLETELY agree with the scream ranking. I don't really like the scream franchise because its more mainstream then other franchises and it usually has boring kills.
wow there are so many movies in your list I still have to watch :-D Thanks for this horror movie list.
Favorite: Barbarian, Least Favorite: My Best Friend’s Exorcism
You should check out The Banshees of Inisheren.
Definitely watch Barbarian! I loved it. I was genuinely unsettling and not at all what I was expecting going into it.
Merry Christmas and New year's to you hope you have a good weekend
disagree with like 60% of your ranking, but it’s always interesting to find out why something that vibed with me fell flat for someone, or what someone has seen in something I didn’t like, and I love how you are always respectful of how other people may have felt about a film!
have a great 2023~
The entire plot of men was explained to me by my theatre leader i was horrified
Would love to see your review on Skinamarink. I'm actually all for "elevated horror" and am A24 fiend,-love all the pretentious stuff that most ppl can't stand. But that one...not sure how review it. I think it would have worked better as a short, but over an hour of dutch angles of ceilings, was even too much for me.
I lovvedddd Skinamarink, had me on edge like nothing else. I’d love her input too!
Now that's a comprehensive list! Agreed about Black Phone, completely underwhelming and overhyped. X is my favourite horror of the year but haven't seen Resurrection. Big Rebecca Hall fan after The Night House. Did you see Hellraiser? Much better than I expected.
I loved World's Fair and I can't wait for Skinamarink!
Skinamarink is so good. You're in for a treat...
Hear hear!
wow most of these movies I never heard of. thank you for the recommendation. ❤ I'm starting to list down 📝
My favorite movie of the year was definitely Bones and All.
Okay I am SO shocked you added in the House! That’s been my favorite all year! It’s like my comfort thing to watch🖤
Men was freaky as hell. It was truly shocking at the end.
Ugh I hated it! 🤣
