One thing I loved about Thirteen Ghosts is how the Director Never kept the ghosts in dark corners. They were brightly lit with beautifully done full makeup, right in your face! One part of the movie I realized I was sitting edge of my seat, I look over and he’d done the same thing. We both laughed and relaxed back. We don’t have a lot of memories so I take those little moments. Funny little memory, but it’s a special movie and so darned beautiful. Love your list and channel. 😊

I was also 13 when Thirteen came out and I was obsessed with it. I thought they were so cool. Looking back it probably wasn’t a great influence on me. I was definitely acting out in ways similar to the film. Did you know that it was based on real life experiences in Nikki Reed’s life?
I don't know just how many years I have been watching your videos, but it was fun to realize that I have seen many of the films that are your favorites from your recommendations!
hearing you talk about the lovely bones was surprising to me, cos i personally really dislike that movie, maybe its because of how much i love the book so the movie for me could never really compare,, hearing you talk about thirteen though was surprising in a much more positive way, i love that movie so much !
Don't have a top 30, but my favs that come to mind are: 1. Artificial Intelligence 2. Gattaca 3. Avatar 4. The Island 5. The Exorcist Edit: Pan's Labyrinth and the Orphanage too
The best Horror movie ever : 1) Lake Mungo (2008) by Joel Anderson. Nobody talk about it and it's a masterpiece... 2) The Turin Horse (2011) by Bela Tarr... 3) Begotten (1991) by E. Elias Merhige and 4) Angel Heart (1987) by Alan Parker...
Ooh, I loved Triangle so much that I watched it twice in one day. First alone and then convinced my wife how good it was and that she absolutely had to see it too. Edit: I liked Silent Hill so much that I had the siren sound as a ringtone for a long time.
Hey Sarah, have you seen Arrival? I love that movie, so beautiful, and such a great message. My all time favourite horror/chick flick is Alien/Aliens. I consider Aliens more of a chick flick, because it is such a power house of amazing women. I also love Bladerunner, with the original ending of the possibility that Deckard was a replicant, chef kiss, top tier movies. I'm nervous to see antichrist, but, I do want to see it, just working up to watching it lol
I am enjoying your videos - thank you! I am not sure if you've reported on this one, but it's one of my favorites - The Deeper You Dig. Husband, wife, and daughter production. Very low budget, but very effectively done. Great music, too.
I love that you included your favorite animated movie!! Emperor’s New Groove is amazing. My top 5 favorite movies are: The King’s Speech When Harry Met Sally Titanic Fatal Attraction Harry Potter
I am so SO glad that you mentioned Shutter. It scared the hell out of me, but by the end I was in floods of tears, such a sad story. Just like The Eye and Dark Water, so much Asian horror is less about defeating a big bad beastie, and more about recognition of trauma and grief. Great video.
Great list! Love the way you describe the reasons for why these movies mean so much to you. Regarding Snowpiercer, I hope you're watching the TV series because it takes the story in so many ways that the movie only hinted at (it's definitely worth your time!) Would love to hear your take on it!
I love coming to your channel for movie recommendations because we have such similar taste in movies! Whenever you recommend a movie I add it to my list because I know it will be good 👌
I have a list of new movies to watch and a reminder to rewatch some of my favorite movies of all times. I mean, Sunshine, Snowpiercer, The Martian, Interstellar! I watch those movies, particularly Snowpiercer, almost once a month. Now I want to watch it again. Thanks!
I LOVE that you included a Harry Potter film on your list and I LOVE LOVE that it's Prisoner of Azkaban, my favorite book in the series. Also LOVE that you included Emperor's New Groove, also a favorite of mine. I'm gonna have to test run some of your other pics as there are a bunch I've never even heard of. I think it's the generation gap, lol, because I consider myself a movie buff but the 2000s aren't my strongest era as my 2nd child was born in 2000, so I was a little busy. My favorite horror flick is The Shining. Pure Perfection.
Triangle is the one movie I always recommend to ppl and without fail, they have never heard of it! So glad to hear it's on your list; I must be in the right place.
I absolutely LOVE the silent hill movies! As a fan of the games and overall story of SH, I thought the movies were a beautiful fit. So glad to see someone else appreciate them aswell!
I also absolutely love Thirteen. It came out right before I turned 15, and I moved into a group home/residential treatment facility(for mental health issues) on my 15th birthday. I lived there for almost a year and it changed my life. But before that I could really relate to the characters in the movie. And also the things they were doing. So it definitely holds a special place in my heart. I am a horror fanatic but I feel like my favorite movies of all time don't include many horror movies till I get past my top 5. My top 5 in no order would probably be American History X, Blood Diamond, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2003, Labyrinth, and Lord of the Rings.
some of my comfort movies in no particular order: lilo & stitch (my fav movie), the addams family / addams family values, venom, pirates of the caribbean 1, camp rock 1 & 2, barbie in the 12 dancing princesses also, you got me with both the ring and old lmao, i did guess interstellar tho
I am SO GLAD you made this video!!! Watching Sunshine and my mind has been totally blown - I don't know why I skipped it when it came out because the cast is amazing and the story is crazy good. The flashes - that effect is probably more unnerving than most horror films manage to achieve now. 10/10 recommendation
Great video and amazing channel. I can’t rank my fav but I have a list. - Akira -The Fellowship of The Ring -Children of Men -There Will Be Blood -Back To The Future -The Social Network -Meloncholia -Mullholand Drive -The Dark Knight -Goodfellas

I was traumatised by 'gun boy' in Sixth Sense as a kid, I watched it WAY too young. I'm nearly 30 and I still can't bring myself to watch the film all the way through!
Hi, I'm new to your channel, haven't seen old videos yet. Though horror movies are not my favorite genre, "Crimson Peak", "Scream '96" and "Bram Stoker's Dracula" are among my favorite horror of all time. In the category of non-horror we do share favorites: "Joker" it's a masterpiece, I watched the whole Oscar ceremony just to jump of happiness when Joaquin was finally recognized as the genius that he is; "The Martian" is one of my comfort movies, I also cry when "Starman" by Bowie is playing but that (to me) is related to the fact that I miss him and haven't been able to play his music since his death (or his movie Labyrinth) 😢. "Interstellar" is a cinematic master class, those critics who hated it, they don't know what they're saying. I also cry a lot during that scene when McConaguey is watching his grown up children on video. It kills me every time cause I have a non-existent relationship with my own dad, it's so sad to watch. Also, my number one favorite actress Jessica Chastain is in both movies 😁. I'm curious, don't you like "Arrival" ? It's right up there in my top sci-fi movies with "The Martian", "Interstellar" and "Gravity"
So happy that you're favourite movie of all time is Interstellar, because it's mine too! Another favourite which I always think about is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
I always put my favourite movies into 3 different categories, category 1 is my favourite acclaimed movies, so movies that people praise. Category 2 is my favourite guilty pleasure type movies where I love them but others might not. And category 3 is my favourite movies that I watched when I was a child. Category 1 (in no order) Scream (1996) Scream 2 Lost Highway Eyes Wide Shut The Shining Triangle Goodfellas Wolf Creek Black Christmas (1974) Suspiria (1977) 28 Days Later Phone Booth Single White Female Stay Jacob’s Ladder (1990) Primal Fear Kiss The Girls Fear Seven Candyman (1992) Exorcist 3 American Psycho Event Horizon Category 2 (in no order) Scream 3 I Know What You Did Last Summer I Still Know What You Did Last Summer House On Haunted Hill (1999) Shrooms Final Destination Halloween H20 Urban Legend Valentine (2001) Blair Witch 2: Book Of Shadows Category 3 (in no order) Space Jam (1996) Home Alone Home Alone 2 Home Alone 3 The Mummy (1999) See Spot Run Air Bud August Rush Sky Kids National Treasure National Treasure 2 Man In The Iron Mask Cats & Dogs Stuart Little Power Rangers The Movie Like Mike

For what it's worth, I'm not even that much into horror movies (though I'm trying to be), so I get extra happy whenever you talk about non horror movies. As for my favorite movie of all time, it's gotta be Memento, another Nolan movie. I tend to get drawn to movies that blow my mind rather than ones I have an emotional connection to. I really liked Interstellar except for the whole Anne Hathaway thing about love, it seemed too cheesy for me and, since the movie is relatively realistic feeling and based on real science, like you said, that part took me out of it and especially the first time I saw it it made me realize I was watching a movie, whereas until that point I was in it with them feeling the same things. So yeah if it wasn't for that it would have been a 9/10 for me!

I have a weird relationship with The Lovely Bones movie. Went from not liking it in theaters to slowly loving it with repeated viewings on DVD. Then when I read the book, it made me appreciate the movie more ‘cause the book didn’t do much to keep me interested
The Lovely Bones was good but The Shack I couldn't get into. I only watched it because the one lead cop investigating the Delphi Indiana murders recommended it.

1. Artificial Intelligence
2. Gattaca
3. Avatar
4. The Island
5. The Exorcist
Edit: Pan's Labyrinth and the Orphanage too
Melancholia, The Ring, Last Night in Soho, The Sixth Sense, The Hunger Games, & Girl, Interrupted rule!
I liked your comment! Thanks for mentioning Ring and Sixth Sense!
Second half of Melancholia is gut wrenching, the music on The Ring is Hans Zimmer at his best. Soho is excellent after a second watch. Great picks!
Yeey, I was waiting for this type of video, glad that you included the non horror faves too 😌
The best Horror movie ever : 1) Lake Mungo (2008) by Joel Anderson.
Starry Eyes was so good! Alex Essoe needs to be in more stuff!
I love that you included your favorite animated movie!! Emperor’s New Groove is amazing.
My top 5 favorite movies are:
The King’s Speech
When Harry Met Sally
Titanic
Fatal Attraction
Harry Potter
I am so SO glad that you mentioned Shutter. It scared the hell out of me, but by the end I was in floods of tears, such a sad story. Just like The Eye and Dark Water, so much Asian horror is less about defeating a big bad beastie, and more about recognition of trauma and grief.
Great video.
You're literally my movie-taste twin. I love almost all of these and the ones I haven't see, I will be watching ASAP
I was 6 years old when silent hill came out and was about 8 when I first watched it and it was the first movie that PETRIFIED ME
LOVED Sunshine! Thx for including it in your list!
all of your non-horror movies are my favorite ones too, i would just add rogue one and the girl with the dragon tattoo
Still in the middle of watching, but I paused to say I love Shutter! Me and my partner randomly rewatched the ending the other day because it's 😱😱😱
Great list! Love the way you describe the reasons for why these movies mean so much to you. Regarding Snowpiercer, I hope you're watching the TV series because it takes the story in so many ways that the movie only hinted at (it's definitely worth your time!) Would love to hear your take on it!
The Loved Ones rocked my world. I'd have never known about it w/o your channel's recommendation.
I saw Sunshine on my flight to Australia in 2007. I just remember it stuck with me. I need to rewatch it.
you are truly one of my favorite youtubers, every video is just wow..
I'm Brazilian and I love your channel. In addition to the excellent content, I often use it to learn English.
I absolutely LOVE the silent hill movies! As a fan of the games and overall story of SH, I thought the movies were a beautiful fit. So glad to see someone else appreciate them aswell!
Thank you for including where to watch these !
I just watched A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night for the first time on Shudder!
So pumped for this video!!! You have such good taste, since the year began almost every film I watched was one of your recommendations!!!
some of my comfort movies in no particular order: lilo & stitch (my fav movie), the addams family / addams family values, venom, pirates of the caribbean 1, camp rock 1 & 2, barbie in the 12 dancing princesses
also, you got me with both the ring and old lmao, i did guess interstellar tho
Yasss! Pirates! Love it! It’s a masterpiece
I love that you’re writing a ya dystopian novel that’s so cool!! I’d love to read that. OMG I LOVE Emperor’s New Groove! It’s so underrated
- Akira
-The Fellowship of The Ring
-Children of Men
-There Will Be Blood
-Back To The Future
-The Social Network
-Meloncholia
-Mullholand Drive
-The Dark Knight
-Goodfellas
When you mentioned the Martian and not Interstellar I was like omg how has she not mentioned Interstellar, then it was your favourite and I was like ofcourse haha its one of my favs too, makes me cry like a baby 💖
I was traumatised by 'gun boy' in Sixth Sense as a kid, I watched it WAY too young. I'm nearly 30 and I still can't bring myself to watch the film all the way through!
You should do a tier list of all the rooms from escape room 1 & 2
Love this idea!
Sunshine is great! One of my favorites too 😊 Based on your picks I feel like you would enjoy Stay (2005)
Check out the Wailing and Bone Tomahawk, those 2 are hidden gems and definitely don't get enough love!
Loved Bone Tomahawk
She has Arrival in her DVD collection, I think she likes it, maybe it's just not one of her all-time faves. I LOVE Scream (1996) too btw 😁
@@aliceramenhead thanks for the info. I just subscribed a month ago. Good to know she likes Arrival, it's on my top 5 favorite sci-fi movies 😁
Silent Hill is SO underrated! Haunting and beautiful aesthetics and music. So glad you included it.
So happy that you're favourite movie of all time is Interstellar, because it's mine too!
Another favourite which I always think about is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
i think the word to describe the lovely bones and melancholia etc. i think would be surrealistic. i love those films too! love your channel too!

@@TwisterTerror omg yesss she freaked me out too haha
@@TwisterTerror man of Steel rules!!
This is so awesome! I love that you I included Gonjiam Haunted Asylum bc I recently watched that bc of your recommendation and LOVED it. Lol I love Emperor's New groove, I named my cat after Yzma bc she's a gray & fluffy and looks exactly like her as a cat. 😄💖
Always love to hear The Hole talked about!! Yessss!
Congrats on 200k Sarah!
So yeah if it wasn't for that it would have been a 9/10 for me!
i love gonjiam! i dont hear many people talk about it, but it geniuenly terrified me, especially that possesion scene.
Great list. My tops are ranked and it's my top 40:

Here are a few of my favorite movies:
The Lost Boys, The Birdcage, Dead Again, The Lion King, Girl's Trip, The Proposal, Hook, My Cousin Vinny, The Outsiders, The Road to El Dorado
And some of my favorite horror films:
Candyman (2021), The Conjuring, Insidius, Alien, The Thing, Scream, Signs, The Descent, The Faculty, Get Out, Us, Hellraiser 2: Hellbound, Ringu, Kakurenbo
Love Ringu/Ring and especially ROAD TO EL DORADO! Thanks dude!
I’m so happy you loved Gonjiam Haunted Asylum! It’s also one of my favorites💖
Great list! Also appreciate the cheeky little mcr vinyl on the shelf
Pleasantly surprised that you included Shutter! My favourite movie
I stayed at the hospital that girl interrupted is based on and it’s always been one of my fav movies
