The thing with shifting into low gears is, that it's hard on your tires. Yet Igor still managed to save his tires better than you, which is a testament to his smoothness. He is truly on another level!
It's on then blood
Id love to see his tuning on this car!
Yes, but pay attention to their acceleration when in first gear; it's low and only when he reaches a point where he can go flat out he instantly shifts up as the rpm goes higher very fast on lower gears. In other words, even though he applies more pressure over the tires, as the acceleration is more progressive, the tire wear is that higher.
Could be the brake bias setup and the car. But indeed, at every stage, Igor's tires were always in better condition.
djmcStudios Less Ego More Work everyone had default setup its daily race
Omg I recognized his username. I played against him yesterday lol. No wonder he finished 12 seconds ahead lmao
Lol xD
12 seconds is pretty good dude lol
@@HugoStiglitz88 lol you don't know how many laps it was.
Jesus, it s like watching a white shark closing in on you. All is missing is the Jaws music... beautiful to watch. Great analysis, thanks. Actually, I enjoyed it so much that it made me think: could you do more videos like these where you analyse Fraga and Lighting (and other drivers) styles and technics but using their streamed videos (so we can see their exact inputs) and maybe comparing to your video of a lap of the same circuit and see where the diffs are, why, etc. ? that would be catnip for all of us drivers...
I can trash everyone then 😂😂
@@Krazy_Gamer ahahah unfortunately, the incredible thing with driving is that, even when i know exactly why i am slower... i am still slower!! but it is still super interesting to know, in the end you still progress a bit ahah
Yeah I'm not the fastest but I'm quite good. Even at a young age I got my first podium in only 3 races.
Smooth acceleration agree
Drinking game... Every time Kie says Igor Fraga... you would be dead!!
2 Gear Glue Glue eGluerrr Fraga ! At 11:01
There’s no one better imo at tyre saving than Igor he’s phenomenal talent
He's shifting earlier into lower gears to take advantage of engine brake...you need to pay attention to rear wheel spin btw, but if done properly, you can reduce the speed "faster" and go on the throttle sooner :D
if you guys have the time learn about igor fraga, hes actually born in japan and came to brazil very early in his life, drives karts from very very young and at an interview when he was a kid already said that he dreams about become a professional racing driver and does everything he can to gain visibilty (including winning a gtsport championship)hes racing at formula 3 or 4 at the moment if im not mistaken and got some very usefull videos if you want to go faster on gtsport.
Poderoso Xavao Why is it that he uses a Portugal national flag and not brazil?
@@loganm2766 The flag is based on where your PSN account is set up. It's quite possible that Igor set up a Portugese PSN account to race in the Euro/Middle East brackets, which could also explain the latency issue, if he's actually connecting to races from Brazil.
Brake with conviction! Don't keep switching back and forth from accelerating and braking. When you put that foot down be sure you don't have to lift it again
This was very interesting.. he is also a real driver.. you should do more of this kind of vídeos because we all learn from it! Congrats, great racing!
Igor Fraga, "E-gor" not "eye-gor" ;)
Yes👍
@@legitsimdriver109 cool I'll make sure I let Iggy know his name is eye gor because Eric, his #1 biggest fan, says so... Awesome! 😉
@@legitsimdriver109 I knew that just joking with you bro
Exactly lol
Suck it
Nice! I have been waiting for this video. Would love to see a 1v1 between The two aliens. Lightning and fraga.
That was amazing to watch!!! That’s one of the best videos I have seen. Not that any of your other videos are not great. They are. Keep up the great work and thanks for the video.
I've met Fuvaros today, in my Race C lobby... Long story short, he started last, without a qualifying lap (like Igor in this specific race), and he climbed from there to the top. I wasn't even paying attention to my race: I kept watching the map to see his progression into the field. Incredible.
These guys are out of this world!!
(I finished dead last, after overshooting the damn hairpin multiple times lmao)
I was there too, simply amazing
As tyre wear kept increasing it seems that braking points go to 20m earlier than with fresh ones right? 13x made a lot of impact on each lap
@@fernandovieira8479 Tyre wearing has been a critical factor in that race, indeed... And yes, the difference between braking on lap 1 with fresh tyres and on the 6th lap with them is enormous! Can't really tell precisely how many meters I need tho haha
Neon Blade lol, Igor is a race car driver as well. You have anything else to say?
Neon Blade why do you have to be so mad? I’m almost convinced you’re a shitty driver, that’s why you have to trash talk everyone that can drive.
I would freak out a bit if i saw him in my rear view mirror
I would just get out of the way. Kind of like Bradley Smith when he knows Marc Marquez is behind him.
why he wont crash yu
@@mathieumansire372 because getting in the way of a clearly faster car is being a dick
screw the mirror, i would freak out if he was in the same server!!!
dont worry that sight wouldn't last very long
I love how you fully admit how "slow" you are in comparison to the top GTS drivers. You watch these alien drivers and try to pick up their habits and driving style. If you push, Kie, and keep this up we could see you dominate the top end of the leader boards with them... Not that you are slow or anything but fighting for that extra couple of tenths requires insane driving skills
Well what else are we supposed to do??? Look at the 1-2 seconds per lap faster they are and pretend that we're almost on pace with them? lol
that was an intense race! good job with the different camera views, too; gives a broader perspective to a newbie like me (:
Subscribed! Great and interesting video - thanks 👍🏻
important to win that! very good analysation! very good job!
Very entertaining video! Had me hooked to the end, great driving and great win, subbed!
Thanks 😀
I've raced against him a couple of times in FIA races, but never "interacted" with his car. He's always in a race of his own, lol. Only Nico could challenge him when he was racing regularly here.
What Nico?

@TheKie25 thank you for such detailed analysis!
This really helps the drivers competing around your level, who are looking for an edge. Inspirational content & a great example set for other race channels like mine. This is what the people want 👍🏼🏁

Congratulations on 16K Subscribers!
His driving line is impeccable. I mean just look how wide he is before he turns into the apex and downshifts. He knows the best way to traverse that corner is to go in smooth and tight and then really accerate out from 1st gear. Superb
Very nice tribute to IOF
Superb content, as usual
🙏🙌🙏🙌
Great race both of ya
great video, i also watched nico when i raced with him they are incredible. i noticed from replays they definitely use slower throtle in puts and dont brake as hard. they try to cost as must as possible. they take corners faster which helps them use less throttle its amazing really
Awesome vid. Best in days
Awesome vid - and great driving from you too Kie. Yep, Fraga isn't the champ by accident.
His upshifts are perfect, never too late and he uses upshifts in corners perfectly to avoid losing grip
Loved the comparison with the driving please do this a little more, really help me understand my driving style and were I need to adjust. Keep up the great vids never miss one thanks for sharing your tips and advice. P.S. instruction vids are so helpful love to see some more.
Great vid.
Respect to you both
You won because you knew which your competition is. Some folks would have rested Infront, but you knew what had to be done!!!
He was in one of the races I was in also and had a FL in the low 1:29’s. Ok, he had good slipstream (starting and ending the lap) but I can only dream of being so fast (in race I manage a high 1:30 with slipstream on controller). After watching the replay it’s incredible to see his tyre wear. That part is really unbelievable. If I could manage my tyres like he did, I would be in gt heaven 😂😂
Awesome racing from you guys..
Two opinions I could think of as to why he's dropping all the way down to 1st gear on those corners:
1. Gear ratio. He seems to have wider gear ratios on the lower gear than you do but shorter ratios on the higher gear. (e.g. His 1st gear red lines at around 69 mph and yours at around 62. His 6th gear at peaks early at 182 mph and yours was still about to go beyond 182 but already needs to brake.)
2. Engine braking. This definitely helps him slow the car down. Then paired with a higher gear ratio on the lower gears, he wouldn't over rev on the 1st gear. This may also explain why he managed to extend the life of those tires a bit more.
Props to you both!! I’d love to watch the world champs on gtsport race on other games like assesto or pcars
Great Race and deserved win!!! Do you post Setup Tips??? Greets from Germany Mate🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
Something tells me that my Thrustmaster 150 is not quite up to par with what you guys are using! I do notice a huge difference when just playing the game and racing online. When on line, things just do not react the same to my wheel inputs. Enjoyed this and gives us all something to strive for!
I think a good way to find where to have brake bias is to do the track without abs and seeing where the rear tires start locking up before the front tires in each corner
I did that in Lago Maggiore with BMW M6 gr.3 found that about 3 is where the tail starts to slide and now I have it in 1-2 in some corners changing, like going steep up hill move the brake bias 1 to the rear, going steep downhill change it one to front
(I drive with abs off because in FIA regulations all or most competitions it is not allowed, but I also don't play online because I have to buy PS plus and when I do I will probably turn it on but only online)
Hey kie, interesting video .The differences are so small between good drivers . A few tenths here and there is ok over a hot lap. However over a race distance it’s insane to see the difference. Common sense I know , but damm that boy can drive . Will he ever make it to f1 ,probably not rich enough ☹️
Great video. I will take away the part about using lower gears as a way of braking as the team I belong too have just started team v team races with tyre and fuel usage. Can i ask when you had the t500 wheel what settings did you use in game for sensitivity/FFB/Torque?
Williams fuvaros was in one of my races yesterday, he started last and I started 9th, by lap 2 I was in tenth and he overtook me on t5 and when the pit phases were over he was in 2nd. It was crazy because when I was behind him I would break at the same points as him and take the same lines but he would just edge away. Sadly he disconnected on lap 10 and he was 3 secs from the leader
You can easily improve your lap time by looking carefully the rate you release the brake vs the steering. You can put the brake input mirrored in honrizontal next to the steering inputs & compare side by side. It's a learning curve I learned in AC(in a nutshell, you crank more steering input than you release brake pressure & force the turn in).
Was watching Hungarian f1 last week, they did a highlights thing from the f3 support race, I noticed this car with gran truismo sponsors all over it, I thought that looks like the formula car from the game, then I noticed the driver name I.fraga, looked it up and I was right it was him , I knew he raced for real, but didn’t know what series. I’m gonna have to start following f3 now.
I'm using excatly the same gearing in corners but still 0.7 down on Fraga's race best lap :D
By watching various videos from several guys, lightning, jomas, tidgney, I did also noticed they use alot more the lower gears to brake, and seem a bit more smoother on throttle inputs than you
I feel like thats the last step you need to be up there too
Hopefully on the real season you can go to the world events!
I use that lower gear technique but i need to tell you there is a secret for it to work. It's a secret that most will not share because it's our advantage but if you miscalculate any of the ingredients then you better be good at drift control.
I think their is a weird exploit with the gear changes because being so agressive on the gears and changing gear that much through corners should cause your tyres to wear faster and it should be costing you time.
Good job
set the brake bias 50-50...and use that low gear shift lock turning method...
Take a look at my compilation. I did the same. I made the choice to pit 2 laps later. I came back with 1.5 sec in front of him. I could hold it for 5 laps. ;) best race ever. Thanks Igor Fraga 😀
His tire management is what making the whole difference.
He gains so much on that final corner from shifting down to gear 1 as his car is going to roll through the corner. It must help the car roll through the corner quicker if you shift to 1st at the right time on that corner once you pretty much braked and got your angle set and done with
He is the Brunta of GT Sport
Hey man this is great, can i ask a question, are you allowed to mess with your car before these races, or any races? because i always thought that as soon as people are allowed to go in an completely tune their cars to the nines (not adding parts but changing downforces and cambers and tow angles etc) and people having PERFECT setups for each individual car for each infivudal course, when people like me want to race online but well be getting destroyed as we don't know how to mess with our cars etc. How much of that is allowed? thanks
Basically if would had started in the first 5 positions he would have chewed everyone up lol, great driving
Compare your lines through turn 5. He takes a much narrower line, setting him up much better for the exit of turn 6. Should save some time there =)
I started to feel elated realizing how I can get those times with the gr2, but then I see the consistency, and conservation of those tires, and I feel totally inferior. I'd be losing my cool in a race with anyone like that
How fast is Igor? FAST REALLY FAST!!
People at the higher DRs are so much better at racing, I'm at E and nobody knows how to race clean, on today's daily, I was in 5th, the guy behind me got beside me and knocked me into the wall, I finished in 12th
How r u dtill e
It takes like 3 races to go to d
TheKie25
If your connection is bad it doesnt look like its lagging when your racing but your opponent will see you lagging from their perspective
It was his connection that was off as he races from outside EU 👍
TheKie25 no he means like if Igor's is bad igor would be smooth on his screen and everyone around him would lag
Igor Omura Fraga is legend, God bless him.
Maybe one thing they should implement in gtsport is if your connection is bad then you can't race, mite seem a bit harsh but it's annoying a car is jumping all over the place in front of you.
Fraga and Lightning use very low gears; but to me this is managing the rotation of the car assisted to some degree, like traction control. It's a different kettle of fish managing the rotation completely unassisted on the brakes and delicately balancing the car between aggressive rotation and snap oversteer to be very fast on the way in. I wish the sim racers could recognise this.
How i didn't knew this champ? Got to have my eye on him
You can display all the input data in a replay you know Kie mate?
The option on the right, past the play and rewind/fast forward buttons. "display race info" "display all"
You have to press circle to get rid of the play/rewind buttons, and you will have all the input data.
Yes I do that but it won't show you lap delta on replays 👍
Great video! How fast can I expect to get with a controller instead of a wheel?
@Thekie25 May I ask a question about the FIA races please?
Never noticed that the game shifting gear proposal for all those tight corners suggest you 1st gear ? ;)
He's a true alien.
IOF did not have the fastest lap early, but his average laps were really fast and consistent, especially considering he was in traffic. After the pit he pushed harder and had less traffic. Amazing.
An absolute pleasure to watch one of these where the driver isn't using the whole car camera. Eventhough it's bumper and not cockpit, it least it's still somewhat realistic. I wish every driving "sim" would remove the whole car camera and leave that shyt to Ridge Racer.
F1 2017 made me used to not downshifting too much.
Was Igor using ABS on full? Or just the replay mode? So informational listening to explain the driving, so much to try on my next race. What a race!
If you don't use abs you are simply putting yourself at a disadvantage.
Pro-tip: If you see this guy on your rear view mirror...

(Unless you are Kie)
Nah I Disappear Like Ghost Rider Then Appear in You Rear View Mirror And Pass You And Lap You :] Unless Like Duke Nukem Says Staying Alive Staying Alive TheKie24
Didn’t catch his name there.. 😂
Gear selection is key but that top driver guy just has a better driving line. The way you hit apexes requires lower gears. You need a wider driving line so you can coast more through the corners.
Used to race against him alot, managed to beat him once after he made a last lap mistake.
3 more laps and you are done holy
How are you able to put the replay in the video in a smaller format?
I had to view that in 240p, my connection is fine on WiFi or 4G, UA-cam must be busy, but I still enjoyed it and could see what you meant by him using the lower gears more aggressively.
Me too
Is he going to Paris for the GT World Tour event?
I do feel for u tube chase cam as far better to watch.
I´m Portuguese and I wish to have a ps4 to play gt sport against to my people, because we have (not saying other people are bad :D) the best players in the world on simulators, is not only him.

Igor "Break Check is ok in FIA" Fraga
I raced Igor back in the days of GT6, he is insanely faaaaast
*e y e g o r e*
I think at least that getting down force on your tires early will make them last longer. The tires need to be planted to the road to work at their best. If your car is light there is more room in the tire to move and degrade the tire. That's why fraga is in first coming out of the corners where your in second. He is getting more downforce on the tires on the exit then you.
Idk if this gtr is the same as it's in forza 7, but being a twin turbo car, the torque line is low until 3k rpm and suddenly jumps between 3,5k and 5k. This is probably the reason why he changed back to first gear that many times. If he was in 2nd gear, he would be about 4k rpm, and not even if he floored it, he would never burn tires because it would lack power, due to the sudden change on the torque line.
Long story short, this car is shit under 4k rpm, and inconsistent between 4k and 5,5k rpm
One thing I don't understand is why does your brake bar on the hud have white over red when you brake whereas Igor does not. Is that something to do with settings. I know both use abs. What is the reason for that ? Is there some steering setting that we can change to improve braking ?
No it's just a replay bug that 👍
And he's a Fooking Portuguese mate!!!! SIIIIIIIIIIIMMMMM!! Bora Campeão
Igor is the best...!
Portugal represents!!
He's Brazilian. I presume the Portuguese flag is showing up because he still wanted to play the game in Portuguese while he was in Europe. xD
It’s crazy how realistic the game looks without name tags and stuff like that
Well if we see the cam what they are racing with 🙈 then its far from.......O wait you can also just drive full speed in pitlane 😭😭😭😭 fail
I have sooooo much to learn😭😭😭😭
I was on GT Sport a few minutes ago and I saw your name tag on it (top of the qualifying leaderboard for the Gr. 3 Daily Race at Interlagos) and thought 'where have I seen that before?', Then I remembered I just watched this video the other day and it's you 😂 I wish I could be half as fast as guys like you, Igor and all the Champions.
