The High Sparrow starts strong as a villain but gets dumber as his story progresses. He manipulates Cersi into arming the Faith Militant as a weapon against the Tyrel’s then betrays her and imprisons. Pretty solid villain work there. But then he stupidly lets Cersi go back to her power base at the Red Keep, assuming the humiliation of the Walk of Shame would break her. And even more stupidly he assumes Cersi will show up for a trial where she’s guaranteed to be found guilty and either be executed or imprisoned for life. And he gathers all of Cersi’s enemies together in one place for her to target. He died a moron.
In his defence, I think people read him wrong when they lump him in with the 'schemer' type villains. Yes, he plots how to get ahead, but he's actually a true believer. This is what makes him stand out so much for me. I absolutely don't accept this interpretation some people have that he's 'using' the church to gain power. He really does believe in what he's spouting, really does think a life of poverty and simplicity brings him closer to the gods, really does despise the corrupt elite who live beyond the judgement of the law. The elites of King's Landing struggle to deal with him so much purely BECAUSE he isn't just scheming for personal power. If he was then they'd know how to handle him and he'd never have become a threat. In the end, yes, he stupidly underestimated Cersei, and he massively overestimated the influence of the gods. But he had essentially become blinded to the power of the masses to enact their will upon the elite, and genuinely believed it wasn't an issue if she didn't show up because she would be found guilty anyway and justice would find its way to her. He dies for this mistake, much like Cersei dies for underestimating the power of a dragon and Robb dies for trusting the honour of a Fray. As for bringing all of Cersei's enemies into one place, I'm pretty sure the stash of wildfire is still a secret to most at this point (and if they knew of it, they probably think it was all used up in the Battle of the Blackwater). So if there was going to be any attack by Cersei, it would be surrounding the Sept with soldiers. If that happened, it would actually be excellent to have Margaery there, because he believes she's an ally of the Lannisters and that Cersei wouldn't want to harm her. After all, she's engaged to Cersei's son and when the walk of attonement was scheduled, Cersei's brother came to defend Margaery's honour. She's a human shield. He just didn't realise that she was a human shield Cersei would be more than happy to fire through.
The High Sparrow wanted the people to see the elite brought down to their knees. That's why he has Cersei do the Walk of Shame. It sends such a strong messages to all. I would even say that had it been anyone but Cersei the High Sparrow might have succeeded and changed the fate of the Crown forever. No one could have predicted wild fire.
He's a true believer, that's why he slips up. He genuinely believes in his faith, so he can't fathom somebody doing something as abhorrent as blowing up the Sept. He's very well written in my opinion
@@TalosBjorn Tyrion warns us. He said something about not minding High Septons who are gluttonous or frequent brothels. The real dangerous ones are the ones who believe in gods.
In fairness letting cersei go back to the red keep is from GRRM, not D and D and at the trial he wanted tommen there, he didn't account for cersei preventing him from leaving.
@@ricardofonseca8530the book Tywin is just like the version on the show. Only different is some facial hair but Charles dance nails this character in every way
There is also one funny/tragic thing about Alliser Thorne - he was sent to the Wall because he was a Targaryen supporter and there he became an antagonist for Jon(who was a Targaryen). Nice story Martin, twisted as always :)
Agreed that Ser Alliser is one of the most complex villains on the show. He gets a great arc with a lot of nuance to his character. You actually understand why he takes the decisions he does.
I would rank vilians by how much damage they caused, how many characters hated them, and how long they lasted. And not how well the character is portrayed. Ceisie caused the most damage, overcame a lot of obstacles, rose to be queen, defeated, and killed a lot more strong characters and lasted to the end of the series. She should be 1st. Followed by Little Finger. Tywin only defeated Robb and lost to Tyrion.
@@spointz8936 Robb was changed a bit. They made his marriage that led to him crossing walder frey (and thus... dying) a choice based on love rather than what it was in the books, which was that overly strict sense of duty and honor instilled in all of the Stark kids by Ned. In the books, he slept with a random woman in camp and got her pregnant, and then married her out of a sense of duty & thinking back to how tough Jon's life was as a bastard. He is someone who is still trying to emulate his father, and breaking a vow just because it feels good is definitely not in character. His death due to this also helps the living Stark kids to get past this fatal flaw that killed both Ned & their brother and mother. All of that is undercut by turning Robb into a fool in love. That being said, it doesn't make the character significantly worse. Definitely not ruined. But... not quite the same.
Tywin was a coward anyway he would've surrendered easily to Danerys and would've tried to beg for mercy and stay on the council.Of course she knew he betrayed her father so she would've banished him at the least in punishment
I supported House Baelish. His understanding of capital investment and debt financing are centuries ahead of his time. As king (probably Sansa’s consort) he’d be a competent administrator and a gift to the smallfolk
Ironically I absolutely despised him right up until he died, where I was forced to think about how s1-s4 LF would NEVER either make the decisions the later one made, or get caught in the way he does, not even arguing his case and just begging for forgiveness even though he's established as such a slimy manipulator, and showed exactly how rotten he is to the very person he's asking for forgiveness. You're telling me he doesn't even try to manipulate the Knights of the Vale, relatively non-political warriors he should be able to dance circles around intellectually, in order to save himself in that moment? Insane DnD butchered his character so bad his death, which should've been satisfying, turned me into a fan that wanted to see more of him
@zodiacUNDsyndicat Tyrion having literally every decision of his in s7/s8 be a bad idea and then being shocked everytime even though he shouldn't even just be learning from his mistakes, but should've never made those mistakes in the first place🙃🙃🙃
In a totally unbelievable scene where she walked just randomly between all the night king zombies to reach him from behind just to get caught. ... and not freezing to death because she is immune to plot.
One character that you missed, who i really enjoy is Rickard Karstark. He greatly pushes the King in the North plotline. he is quite understandable in his actions, but they are also appalling. His constant questioning of Robb creates great tension in the warcamp, and his eventual betrayal and execution really progress Robb as a character and as a leader. Not to mention the fact he progresses both the Catlyn Stark AND Jaime Lannister plots extensively.
Pycelle was played by Julian Glover who has the distinction of also playing villains in: Doctor Who ( Scaroth/Tancredi - City of Death) Star Wars (General Veers - Empire Strikes Back) James Bond (Kristatos - For Your Eyes Only) Indiana Jones (Walter Donovan - Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade)
Exactly. Even Tywin had good sides to him, there are many viewers who liked him. But literally everyone hates Joffrey. That makes him the best villian in the story. Same for the actor...he was literally threatened because peoplegot triggered by his face alone. No one else managed that.
The Tully family are the biggest villains of the show. Liza killed John Aaron, which started this whole mess. Cat kidnapped Tyrion which caused Jamie to delay Ned’s leaving of Kings Landing. Edmure went for that fort instead of doing what Rob told him which made Rob have to beg Frey for passage across the bridge.

I remember the "Lord of Bones" said to Ygritte something like "What would Mance want with a dead traitor's bastard?", and then I was thinking "ok, it's plausible that he's heard of Ned Stark, but how in the hell would he know that he was labeled a 'traitor' to the crown in a city over a thousand miles away and that they executed him?" when the only mode of communication are ravens.
If I remember right, in the books it's described in detail how important the Starks were to the wildlings since they controlled the North for centuries and were what stood in their way to move south. But I don't remember how exactly the wildlings learnt about the death of the Stark of Winterfell, and how quick

It's a cool list but part of the point of GOT was that there are no villains and heroes. I'm surprised Mance is on the list, for example, when Stannis or Melisandre are not, while characters like Jaime, The Hound, and Daenerys "flipped" from hero to villain (or vice versa) throughout the story.
Yeah, in other videos as well, this guy doesn't seem to get that ASOIAF characters are supposed to be grey AND imperfect. They make mistakes, they can change their minds, they can do seemingly illogical things even, just like real life. And you can't really flesh out eeeevery single character, not even in a book.
I agree with you with respect to some of the people on the list, but there definitely are pure villains. Ramsay Bolton, Joffrey, The Night King and book Euron for example are definitely within the 'villain' category.
thats a commonly repeated statement but it isnt entirely true there are people like Ramsay who are just pure evil and Samwell who are definitely heroic
No. 1 villain for me is Daenerys Targaryen. She's like Cersei is so many ways but instead of acknowledging her cruelty, she thinks she's innocent and doing the right thing.
I definitely don't think she thinks she's innocent. A huge part of her arc was devoted to her trying to be a liberator instead of a conqueror; trying not to be like her father. Of course that was all thrown out in the end.
I honestly think that dany changes so much throughout the show and - especially with her ridiculously rushed turn to the mad side of the Targaryen coin - it’s hard to classify her as a villain or hero. She earned names like great mother and breaker of chains for a reason but so did she deserve the name mad queen. She freed many in Essos and played a massive part in saving Westeros and defeating the night king, yet all she ever got in return was hatred and pain. If George R R Martin would finish the books, he prbly would even make her madness understandable I reckon
I would pick Cersei as number one only because she was in more seasons than Tywin, her unpredictability really shocks the audience and characters, her malice is understandable even if still awful, and she is the one person who shut Tywin up (when she tells him his legacy is a lie). Plus, so many great antagonistic relationships and encounters: Sansa, Little Finger, Ned Stark, Robert Baratheon, Joffrey, Tywin, Tyrion, Jaime, Margeary, Olenna, High Sparrow, Septa Unella, Ellaria Sand… Every scene between her and one of these characters is super memorable and a classic. She’s just so good with anyone she bumps heads with. Always entertaining, compelling, and often sympathetic. She’s the real MVP of the show imho.
Lysa is an even worse villain considering she was the one who sent that letter to Catelyn in episode 1, warning her against the Lannisters, after poisoning Jon Arryn herself
35: Smalljon Umber deserved the absolute bottom spot because in the novels, he died like a badass trying to save Robb during the Red Wedding 31: Olly is a cheap stand-in for Satin from the books, who was cut because an underage boy sex worker is too much even for HBO 22: In the novels it's pretty clear that Drogo ripping the bandage off is what led to his death 20: Locke is a cheap stand-in for Vargo Hoat from the novels. He's such a different character that GRRM made them change his name (back when he cared about such things) 12: I'm still partial to the theory that the High Sparrow is Howland Reed 11: If you know what to look for, Roose was hedging his bets against Robb from the very start 7: The biggest irony is that Alliser was sent to the Wall because he was a Targaryen loyalist on the losing end of Robert's Rebellion, and died not knowing Jon was Rhaegar's son
Seems to me like you're following the logic of "If it's different from the book, it's bad", which is a very disagreeable position to take. Vargo Hoat is such an exotic character that would hint at a much more interconnected and larger world than what we are getting in the show. The change to make him into a fellow northerner makes him feel more grounded in Westerosi civilisation.
Daenerys was really a hero until the end of the show. Everyone at the beginning was rooting for Daenerys to take the Iron Throne not only because she was the true heir but because we all felt she would’ve been the best choice then D & D totally turned Daenerys’s personality 180 degrees in the last couple episodes with her going from wanting to help the small folk and not wanting to be the Queen of ashes to literally turning the population of King’s Landing into ashes so it looked liked the North covered in snow
Great video! I think you could have put in a few others that were villains for a time, because their screen time and impact as villains is more than some of the minor villains you included in the video: Melisandre - Her arc after season 5 was a little too quick imo, but I remember in seasons 2-5 she being the villain I hated the most. I mean, she did give birth to a literal murderous demon. Jamie - His first seasons he was the perfect evil Prince Charming. Theon - His villain arc was not as respectable but his impact was there and he had a good amount of screen time. I would put Styr (25) a bit higher (15-20). You gave him a lot of deserved praise. I’d switch him with Randyll Tarly (19). Also Meryn Trant (29) definitely deserves to be higher. He was a minor antagonist but was on Arya’s list for a reason. His scenes in the brothel were so gross and evil. I’d put him around 15. Loved all your explanations!
The guy who plays Karl Tanner.. is quickly moving up my list of favorite actors! Before GoT, he was in Turn: Washington's Spies.. another great show that he absolutely killed it in!!!
I remember reading how excited Pilou Asbæk was to play Book!Euron, only to end up with D&D's caricature version. Poor guy did the best he could with the material given to him.
@@adamsilverman2 Just because he fought against the Lannisters doesn’t make him a protagonist. Remember, he wanted to kill Robb. He also killed his own brother and let his daughter be burned alive at the stake. Pretty villainous if you ask me
@comeatmebro8120 I'd say he's a tragic protagonist rather than a villain. Tragic because he stood essentially no chance at victory and had to turn to the witch (melisandre) for her power and she then corrupted him. He's the protagonist because we follow him and he has plenty of scenes that make him sympathetic like his "you are my daughter" scene and saving the nights watch

Ramsay is my favorite. Unlike Joffrey he was willing to get his hands dirty, he wasn't a spoiled kid but a bastard who would do anything to earn his place. Also I think his death was perfect, died violently as he lived. I loved his relationship with Myranda for the same reasons you mentioned, and the fact that in the end he decides to feed her to his dogs seems insensitive but I think it was a significant act for him and they let us see a little bit of his "human" side. Every scene he was in was fun and entertaining, which I also thought with Viserys, except that Ramsey wasn't a ridiculous looking villain but more like charismatic and intriguing. Great video and I like that you included Tanner and Styr. Those actors nailed it too
Tywin, Cersei and Jofferey were all equally despicable and outstandingly well acted but were at the mercy of other villains. Ramsay answered to no one once he killed his dad so he litteraly did what he wanted which made him unpredictable. With the little time that Ramsay had in the series he was completely unhinged and the most terrifying villain in my opinion. Jofferey was an asshole bully that tormented people and occasionally killed people when his temper flared but he was a weak mamas boy who got slapped around by Tyrion. Ramsay murdered his own father, killed people for fun and literally fed his stepmother and her baby to his dogs. He violated Sansa, he even broke Theon to the point that he couldn’t respond to his own name, and killed Rickon in front of John. Even before he was ripped apart by his dogs he never gave Sansa the satisfaction of begging for his life. Man was just pure diabolical
I would argue that the audience was supposed to see quite a few of Dani's actions as wrong and villainous just to foreshadow her Targaryen insanity and becoming a villain later.
I’m glad to see Ser Alliser so high. He’s one of my favorites as well. He isn’t outright evil, but he’s a total asshole. You can understand why he believes what he does and the actions he takes are justifiable for a character in his situation. He is very duty driven and is only an antagonist from Jon and the audiences point of view. He just happens to be wrong about the grand threat of the story.
This might be controversial - but I think Ramsay is incredibly overrated. Personally I never found him very terryfying or intimidating, except for some of his earlier moments with Theon/Reek. Overall I think he's kind of annoying. He should not be higher than Cersei or Littlefinger. I also don't quite understand why he is described as "unpredictable". He's one of the most obvious batshit crazy characters in the show. When he's being nice you can see that it's fake.
I disagree wholeheartedly. What makes Ramsay great and what makes him different from the other insane villain (Joffrey) is that Ramsay is extremely intelligent and calculated. Joffrey acts on emotions almost exclusively, while Ramsay almost always have a grand and devious plan. Both are great in their own right but Ramsay comes out on top for me becuse of that element of calculation and thought disguised as unpredictability. And don’t get me started on Cersei. She was a great Villain in s1-4, she was alright in 5-6, but then she became so bland and one dimensional that I couldn’t for the life of me understand HOW she became the final boss of the show.
@@Jungbeck i feel like when speaking of the merits of the series and any of the characters in it, it should be customary to just ignore season 5-8 altogether, as they changed the tone and themes of the series so much as to be almost unrecognizable from how it started.
Actually, I'd swap out Ramsay & Joffrey... Ramsay was a "Snow" that didn't need the Iron Throne to be even more ruthless & scary than spoiled, little Joffrey. One had very little advantage to be a powerful villain, while the other had it all handed to him on a silver platter
Joffrey is a much more realistic and believable villain though, Ramsay is a Gary stue in the show and can scare off hardened ironborn warriors without even wearing a shirt and steal hundreds of horses with “20 good men”. Joffrey was an incompetent fool who fell into a position of power through no grace of his own, something we deal with irl on a daily basis.
What ? Mance is considered a villain and Melisandre who literally burned a child isn't ?? Well... Okk... Other than that, good list. I feel like I'm probably the only one who prefers Roose Bolton as a villain to his bastard Ramsay. Roose has this very cold approach, whereas Ramsay was scary as hell in S3 but then I was just a bit tired with his character as seasons were going on... Spot on for Cersei, Baelish, Tywin and Joffrey ! Also, I'd put the Night King very lower, not a big fan of this entire arc and Pycelle higher, I honestly hated Pycelle
If I remembered well Mance on the book had a « magic horn » that he could use to destroy pretty everything. But he decides to not use it and play fair. So I think is not really a villain
Not only is Littlefingers chaos is a ladder monologue epic & brilliant- so is the outside scene that accompanies it. Panning from Joffrey to Ross tied & dead on the bed! Perfection 👌🏽

- Captain of a ship full of men who’s tongue’s he’s cut out with corpses lashed to the bow.
- A powerful warg who skin changes into/controls other people.
- Murdered/sexually abused his brothers and pissed in the sea to defy the drowned god.
- Has a sick eyepatch which conceals an otherworldly blood-red eye that symbolizes his power and all the terrible things he’s seen/done.
- Habitually uses and abuses powerful hallucinogens because “there is more truth in them”.
- Was looked over by the three-eyed raven because he was too sadistic and evil.

Overall, arguably the most terrifying character in a series absolutely full of evil, degenerate, psychopathic monsters.

i still haven't watched the last episode of S8. watched uncollected rubbish on the roadside for, how many episodes before it, already.
You know Tywin is the BOSS when you see how he plays around with incredible characters like Cersei and Tyrion.
He plays because he is their father and they have to obey.
Tyrion outshines him in equal circumstances
You don't need to justify why Euron is in the bottom. We all agree with you
I blame D'n'D. Pilou is a great actor. And that's definitely not bias. Even though I'm Danish
I was fortunate enough to watch the show before reading the books. But everybody I knew was complaining about the way they ruined the character.
He’s OC in the books
Euron in the books is definitely top3
Unless it's book euron
Charles Dance is possibly the best casting of a character possible
He single-handedly made show Tywin better than book one.
@@ricardofonseca8530the book Tywin is just like the version on the show. Only different is some facial hair but Charles dance nails this character in every way
Yes, he was menace embodied
The fact that he wasn't even NOMINATED for an Emmy made me never trust an Emmy awarded anything ever again.
He was great in Space Truckers
There is also one funny/tragic thing about Alliser Thorne - he was sent to the Wall because he was a Targaryen supporter and there he became an antagonist for Jon(who was a Targaryen). Nice story Martin, twisted as always :)
That "cersei got mad at him hacking so he turned off his aimbot" line, was delivered perfectly.

Agreed that Ser Alliser is one of the most complex villains on the show. He gets a great arc with a lot of nuance to his character. You actually understand why he takes the decisions he does.
Tywin hands down. A menace in every bit of screen time he had and the most important of all - died before D&D could butcher him
Yeah every character eventually got ruined lol thank god Tywin and Joffrey were spared and Ned
And Robb and Caitlyn
I loved little finger. I still wish there would be an alternative „what if..?“ story line where he managed to achieve the iron throne
Good god no
I supported House Baelish.
Insane DnD butchered his character so bad his death, which should've been satisfying, turned me into a fan that wanted to see more of him
@@darkflower1729 The same goes for tyrion and varys, high intellectual characters which had the IQ of a coffee bean in later seasons.

Yes, but my boy Tyrion shot him when he was taking a poop. Tyrion the real GOAT!!
"Every nanosecond this character is on screen is a feast for the audience." couldn't express my feelings any better.
Pycelle was played by Julian Glover who has the distinction of also playing villains in:

Star Wars (General Veers - Empire Strikes Back)
James Bond (Kristatos - For Your Eyes Only)

Joffrey is my fav. i know everyone hates him but he made the show interesting every time he was on screen
He’s supposed to be hated, and he did a great job being hateable
You love to hate him.
A well written and perfectly acted villain!
Exactly. Even Tywin had good sides to him, there are many viewers who liked him. But literally everyone hates Joffrey. That makes him the best villian in the story. Same for the actor...he was literally threatened because peoplegot triggered by his face alone. No one else managed that.
He's also kinda funny like hes so stupid yet powerful. And he's always getting humbled.
Uhm. That was not Edmures Fault. His mistake was long After Robb had a deal Made with Frey in that he fought for some mills to save some common folk and ruined Robbs plan by that to trap and kill the Mountain. The Frey Deal was Cats fault

There's still the books... sike the Winds have blown them away
17:19 in the books if I remember correctly it is not ambiguous at all. She specifically said that if Drogo tears off the bandage she used to treat him he will die. Which he of course does like 2 paragraphs later.
They also put a bunch of mud in the wound as treatment 😂. Homeboy died of completely avoidable sepsis.
@@jessjess23brooks89 Pretty Jess, Jess Jess Jess, I’ll have you know, Mud is an extremely effective element that has been used to treat wounds and to this day serves as a panacea for all sorts of ailments. It can be used to clean your windows, brush your teeth, even feed your dog (makes dog grow strong). Some have said babies can eat it to gain more intellofgence but I’m not so sure.
Most of all mud is expert At treating all kinds of wounds or other issues. Smear some mud on any cut you get. Attach it to a bandaid and keep it on there for extended period. Hardened Mud can also be used in surgery to replace dysfunctional organs, simply shape it into the shape of that organ, and it will function as the organ did.
This is a strategy used by many doctors in the ancient world , and as we know doctors of the 12,000 BC era and before are ranound for their wisdom and skill of healing, much of which has been lost . They could heal ANYTHING it is believed

@@rosemaryjones5550 I was definitely let down. He just seemed like a perverted little demented hobbit in the show. Not a hulking, menacing, truly deranged sociopathic manipulator that also happened to enjoy torture as a part time hobby. His book version was much more terrifying. I LOVE that the assassin's creed 2 tracks are playing in the background!

Pretty nostalgic tracks.
Mannnn these tracks are nostalgic.
Protagonist isn't the opposite of villain. It just means leading character, good or bad.
I didn't know I needed this video until it was out
I think the fact that Tywin spends the first two seasons out in the battle fields really adds to his gravity when he comes to Kings Landing.
The whole video is fantastic but the emphasis on "SINGLEHANDEDLY" when discussing Locke sent me through the roof xD.
Stannis in the show is a tragic protagonist. In the books he's just a character.
Yeah, in other videos as well, this guy doesn't seem to get that ASOIAF characters are supposed to be grey AND imperfect. They make mistakes, they can change their minds, they can do seemingly illogical things even, just like real life. And you can't really flesh out eeeevery single character, not even in a book.
i agree with you, but still most characters are clearly hero- or villaincoded
I agree with you with respect to some of the people on the list, but there definitely are pure villains. Ramsay Bolton, Joffrey, The Night King and book Euron for example are definitely within the 'villain' category.
thats a commonly repeated statement but it isnt entirely true there are people like Ramsay who are just pure evil and Samwell who are definitely heroic

Wish she got to do something after her incredible arc in season 6, that season finale is still one of the best episodes of television I’ve ever seen.
No. 1 villain for me is Daenerys Targaryen. She's like Cersei is so many ways but instead of acknowledging her cruelty, she thinks she's innocent and doing the right thing.
SPILL
She’s the Thanos of this universe which makes her the worst/best villain in the whole series. I hated her so much my second time watching it
I definitely don't think she thinks she's innocent.
Dany is FAR from as cruel as Cersei

Tywin is my favorite character of any show, and Littlefinger is a close 2nd
Excellent video as always.
I would pick Cersei as number one only because she was in more seasons than Tywin, her unpredictability really shocks the audience and characters, her malice is understandable even if still awful, and she is the one person who shut Tywin up (when she tells him his legacy is a lie). Plus, so many great antagonistic relationships and encounters: Sansa, Little Finger, Ned Stark, Robert Baratheon, Joffrey, Tywin, Tyrion, Jaime, Margeary, Olenna, High Sparrow, Septa Unella, Ellaria Sand…
Every scene between her and one of these characters is super memorable and a classic.
35: Smalljon Umber deserved the absolute bottom spot because in the novels, he died like a badass trying to save Robb during the Red Wedding
31: Olly is a cheap stand-in for Satin from the books, who was cut because an underage boy sex worker is too much even for HBO
22: In the novels it's pretty clear that Drogo ripping the bandage off is what led to his death
20: Locke is a cheap stand-in for Vargo Hoat from the novels. He's such a different character that GRRM made them change his name (back when he cared about such things)
12: I'm still partial to the theory that the High Sparrow is Howland Reed
11: If you know what to look for, Roose was hedging his bets against Robb from the very start
7: The biggest irony is that Alliser was sent to the Wall because he was a Targaryen loyalist on the losing end of Robert's Rebellion, and died not knowing Jon was Rhaegar's son
'Cheap stand in' satin doesn't have a personality he's just another castle black npc, at least only has somewhat of an arc

I think you could have put in a few others that were villains for a time, because their screen time and impact as villains is more than some of the minor villains you included in the video:
Melisandre - Her arc after season 5 was a little too quick imo, but I remember in seasons 2-5 she being the villain I hated the most.
Agreed! And also Melissandre poisoned the one old priest/advisor who was like a grandfather to Stannis in her first season
Tywin is and was the greatest character. Charles Dance killed it. First scene he skins a deer while telling Jamie to achieve glory.

That thumbnail is everything! 🔥
6:40 also note that Dany just says "i'm Drogo's widow" and he just believes her. He doesn't even consider the idea she may be lying :)
it was pretty well known that he married a dragon queen i think or at least a foreigner
I would argue that the audience was supposed to see quite a few of Dani's actions as wrong and villainous (like murdering all the Khals etc) just to foreshadow her Targaryen insanity and becoming a villain later.

I appreciate your vid, thanks for uploading! I'm only up to #31, but most of your arguments against characters so far are, no character development and/or lack of screen time. If these minor characters had more screen time, then other major plot points/important characters, would be rushed. There's only so much time in an episode. Looking forward to watching the rest of the vid!
The worst goes to Bran the Broken. He wasn't even in season 5 LMAO. Even Ghost has a better story..
Now I go watch Game of thrones season 7 and 8. Wish me luck :)
I can't wait to see who sits on the Throne. No way D and D can mess this up! Jon or Dany (fingers crossed) :D
Those actors nailed it too
Euron from the books would go pretty high up though!
8:50 lmao, why does Littlefinger looks like he's about to say "why is this background character touching me? Did you all see that?"
I love how you use the AC 2 Soundtracks haha
The apple didn’t fall far from the tree with Tywin and Cersei Lannister. Poisonous throughout the series.
Fantastic list.
the fact that "you could literally care less about" doesn't strike anyone as an odd thing to say in 2024 is heartbreaking
I can't believe Stannis or Melisandre couldn't even make it to top 40...
Stannis should totally be on there. Melisandre is excused as she helped the good guys in the final battle against the dead
@@BenRangelif you still think there are 'good guys', you missed the point
@@gelatinouscube2342 I get it, but this list was about Villains so I’m leaning into it
Stannis isn't really a villain
Stannis was a anti hero until d and d made him burn his daughter
Excellent ranking And near perfect critiques!!!
If Tywin isn't number 1 ima riot like a kings landing peasant.
I would argue that the audience was supposed to see quite a few of Dani's actions as wrong and villainous just to foreshadow her Targaryen insanity and becoming a villain later.
The Night King has no business being so high.
I LOVE your content! Always have always will
I’m glad to see Ser Alliser so high.
Hey did you use Home in Florence as the background music for the video ?
This might be controversial - but I think Ramsay is incredibly overrated. Personally I never found him very terryfying or intimidating, except for some of his earlier moments with Theon/Reek. Overall I think he's kind of annoying. He should not be higher than Cersei or Littlefinger.
I also don't quite understand why he is described as "unpredictable". He's one of the most obvious batshit crazy characters in the show. When he's being nice you can see that it's fake.
Completely agree, Cersei is the heart of game of thrones, while Ramsey is only really a threat season 6.
Totally agree, I don't get why people like Ramsay so much. It's crazy to me that he got ranked higher than his father, who is way more menacing.
@@CosmicPotato Agreed Roose is much scarier than Ramsay.
@@Jungbeck i feel like when speaking of the merits of the series and any of the characters in it, it should be customary to just ignore season 5-8 altogether, as they changed the tone and themes of the series so much as to be almost unrecognizable from how it started.
Euron Greyjoy : Emo Pringles Guy.
I forget what video called him that, but it's so spot-on it's hilarious.
@@anon2427 You're right about that!.. I've known many Joffrey's, but I only have met one Ramsay in my 55 years. Point well taken 😁
Always great content!
I was waiting for your review about Shōgun but that’s okay.
I'm actually working on that right now. This video was such a big chongus that it overlapped into my period of time for Shogun.
@@SupercutsDelight oh that’s good. Cuz I really like your opinion about the new series. And ranking every villain in got is actually a good idea for a video. I will see it and make sure to but my opinion about it❤️
Your idea for what could have been done with Qyburn is actually brilliant
Cersei>=Ramsay>Littlefinger>=Joffrey>NightKing>others
34:20 "The realm. Do you know what the realm is?" Hands down, the best monologue of the entire series.
