Good to see something like this happening. I remember working on the partner HP and the rewritten HUD patch a few years back but I'm very excited to see things turn into a project like this. Wonderful job, it's looking great!
I hope goombario is gonna receive a new move. because if you take away his unique ability to be the highest DPS partner by giving everyone the charge command, than he needs a new move to separate and enhance his utility. something like rally wink could work, but maybe something more original and more in character for him would be better. something along the lined of power jump in bonk form, something with low FP cost, but as much damage output as mario with Mega jump badge. keeping him still the highest DPS partner you can get

I don’t see why they couldn’t go back to making characters like that after Super. In case you're interested, MasterKillua is making a resource pack to upgrade the look of PM64 to a modern HD style. Maybe he could make HD versions for your mod's custom sprites too? Being able to combine both a feature and a visual overhaul as desired sounds like a breakthrough for the game's community!
@@GreatGonzalez I have no idea. maybe textures would be laid out differently in the texture cache or something, and that could become an issue... but ideally it would just work. The real problem is that this mod makes some of its own textures. For UI obviously but probably also for items or enemy animations and such... that's where cooperation between both projects would be needed, so a 4K version of those new textures could be made as well. I think that'd be worthwhile to explore.
haven't seen him in a hot minute but I'm sure once this comes out fatguy703 is gonna play this, he's pretty much mastered ttyd so putting mechanics from it into pm64 is gonna be interesting

If I had to guess, probably not due to all the changes being made. I don't know anything about the internal workings of the N64 or the games that can run on it, but I do know that adding more stuff to a game that's almost a decade old will cause the performance to drop significantly, especially on hardware that's even older than the games themselves.
To be fair I think just making sure this mod is compatible with PM hard mode would be enough, as that already adds a lot of extra content whilst cranking the difficulty way up
@@ZeldaKid5000 The problem is the way you patch roms to add these mods, afaik you cant have a difficulty mod AND a content mod. They need to be built together.
Oh this is everything I ever wanted! I much prefer PM64 overall in structure but love the mechanics from TTYD, and playing Prologue before getting the action command feels so boring and slow, so ideally having it from the start would be best. I do think the removed black borders look a little funky though, because of the film reel spotlight hud element in battle. Hope this works on real hardware.
It would be cool is this could be mixed with something like the paper Mario 20th anniversary and the Mario 4k mod for the perfect paper Mario experience

I love the audience mechanic in ttyd a lot. Especially the wacky stuff that can happen. I imagine coding it into something like this would be a massive pain and take an extremely taxing amount of time. Amazing stuff ¦]
lol the audience mechanic is easily my least favourite part about TTYD and the main reason I prefer the battle system in the first game. It just adds unecessary RNG to the game which can really screw you over and ruin your strats and you have no control over it, it's bullshit.
@@Tesssssaaaaa Except the audience isn't RNG and you can actually MANIPULATE it to HELP your strats (see also Koops Audience Manipulation vid). Seems to me you clearly haven't understood TTYD's mechanics yet.
@solarflare9078 I'm a challenge runner myself amd have been challenge running Paper Mario games since 2009 so I already know all about audience manipulation strats (I'm also subbed to Koop and I have seen most of his videos including that one) but I wasn't referring to the audience, I was referring to STAGE HAZARDS specifically which are mostly RNG and cannot be manipulated for your benefit, THAT'S the worst part about the battle system that I'm referring to because your strats can be completely ruined by something out of your control, that's terrible mechanics from a competitive standpoint. Don't fucking tell me that I don't understand TTYD's mechanics clearly when I have played this game more times than you likely ever will in your life and have done several challenge runs that you probably wouldn't even think were possible.

This is an awesome mod, how they implemented them, always some inspiration when like, yeah. Also I think the blue shy guy with the Sleep STOMP Badge should only do the sleep power on you when it does the special, stylish, "Jump on you" move. That would make more sense. Also RIP that misused, wasted Ultra-shroom lmao, even a super shroom, hmm, that guy who I can't be bothered going back to see who it was, that enemy should have just used a normal mushroom, and then eat a dried shroom and his hp'd be maxed out. Also Watt is flying, airborne, so she shouldn't be able to get hurt by spike tops, or by any ground shell attacks.
