You have been such an inspiration to me!!! I've been crocheting for about 30 years and I have tried to learn knitting, but failed and gave up twice already. I got a wild hair today and bought knitting needles. Again. The difference this time? I have you. I watched your video for this and the double sided stockinette and while I struggled with the stockinette I am actually getting this shawl!!!!!!! Thank you for being you and for being here for all of us. I recommend you to EVERYONE whether they mention wanting to learn to crochet or want new and interesting patterns. Tons of love from your biggest spiderette fan!
You are - without a doubt my absolute favorite and your instryctional videos are easy to understand, follow and on point. I find myself coming back looking for more videos! Thank you. You are wonderful, fabulous, precise, neat, oh goodness, is the check in the mail? Lol no kidding, I share with seniors in my classes and they adore you!
This is FANTASTIC...I have trouble with the markers so this pattern is perfect for me right now. I'm going to jazz them up with beautiful ruffles, beads, tassels, etc. The beautiful yarn colors will make it exciting and the decorations will make them truly unique!! Maybe with more experience I will be able to use the patterns with markers. Thank you for your peaceful voice, patience and great teaching skills...you're the best!!
Love your videos. You explain everything so well. Us beginners love this. I started knitting and crocheting when i quit smoking and you are so calming your voice is nice. Thank you and do more tutorials. God bless.
Thank you for the lesson! I am so happy and proud to learn a new stitch! I am a begginer and this shawl is perfect for me to cut my teeth on. Thank you so so much! I am a new subscriber and will take a look at more of your how to videos and going now to follow you on instagram and post you my progression . Chow!
Thank you fiber spider. I watched your video and knitted my first shawl.....your triangle shawl. I used size 10 needles and Caron cake rum raisin to knit this shawl. I used almost 2 cakes and I think the size is just right. I am gifting my shawl to a relative who is having chemo. I hope she likes it and it keeps her warm :)
I cannot wait to make this shawl for my mother. I love your videos. You are so amazing and you create such beautiful things. Thank you for making your videos.
Love how clear and easy to follow your video is! Do you make the 36 inch circular needles work for this by just scrunching up the top to fit a much longer length shawl on them? Thank you!!!
Would love to see what you create! Can you please share with me on Instagram? I've got the same name there too. Haven't worked with that yarn yet, but it's on my to-do list lol
I don't have an instagram account. But, since you're helping me with my knitting I might make an account because you've asked to see my work. I imagine I'll finish this in a few weeks what with having to work and all. I'll be happy to send you a pic of the finished garment. Take care.
Combining this with your scarf tutorial, you knit to desired length then start the decrease stage. It is like the decrease stage is in two parts, the first, with an inc on one end and dec on the other, knit ws rows. At what point would you start the decrease triangle? A certain number of rows in or by intuition? I have searched high and low for a way to make a rectangular bias blanket. This I am sure is the answer if I can get the details down. You are really great at this and I really appreciate the effort.
Hi, thank you for the gentle voice and not over talking a project to death! Question: regarding a triangular (I had made a scarf with knit only as per this tutorial and I love it) but in checking out other styles, I would like a shawl with a center peep hole. It seems the only way to do this is to cast on three, for six rows, then pick up stitches totaling nine (see Marly Bird) a very awkward annoying and more complicated procedure. Crochet allows for such an easier way to make a peep hole uncomplicated triangular shawl. Any idea?
I'm making this shawl, but instead of using kfb for the increase, I'm doing a YO after the second stitch. I like the border it makes. I'm using Sweet Rolls yarn instead of Caron Cakes. . I only have two balls so hoping that's enough. Thanks for the awesome tutorial!
I am glad to know how to KFB from the great video but I am also glad for your comment. I tried using YO instead of KFB and it easier for me and I also like the border it makes. Thanks!
@@FiberSpider you can also do kfb but just slip the stitch at the back for a different look. Could I do this in dk ? What size needles would you use 4mm or bigger? Thanks. I’m a beginner 🙃
Love this shawl and the ease of the garter stitch. So, out of interest, could you knit this in the seed stitch. Starting off with 3 x stitches and increasing at the beginning to make the same triangular shape? Thanks so much. ❤
Hi, love your video. I’m using circular needles. I’ve used the Caron Cakes as well but the colour is Rice Pudding. I’m on my second skein, more than half way through and am only at approx. 140 stitches. Am confused as you said in your video one skein and a half and you had 230 stitches. Did you mean 130?
I love this , I also used the Caron Cakes , I am wondering , how too go about decreasing , too maybe make a blanket , like corner too corner crochet ones, only knitted using this method ?
+Sheri Carde thank you! Actually you can conceivably make a corner to corner blanket using this video and another one I did for reference ua-cam.com/video/Jxkw8vnlqe8/v-deo.html It's my diagonal garter stitch scarf tutorial. The principal is the same and totally applicable to different dimensions, all you have to do is change the number of stitches to accommodate the size you are aiming for. You can do it! 😉
I just have to say... Your bob Ross voice caressing my ears while I knitted and drank my low carb coconut oil coffee really made my morning this morning!.. also do you think a simple crocheted edge would look good on one of these? (I'm bicraftual)
+Sam A. Awww, well then I'm delighted! I'm a simple artisan with simple pleasures having stitching and caffeine at the top of the list, lol. Life itself can often be a whirlwind of stress, so I find solace in my simple pleasures and love being able to share them. 😊 The irony is that I started this channel because I really don't like the sound of my voice, lol. Initially I was going to be silent and use subtitles, and finally bit the bullet and decided otherwise. Also forced myself out of my comfort zone and started creating audiobook playlists as well. I find it's not enough to be creative, but to push ourselves a bit each day so that we may grow, and with this channel I like to think we can grow together as a creative community. 😊 Thank you!
Fiber Spider ah you’re so inspirational! You’re a true gem! I’m sorry you didn’t like your voice cuz from what I’ve seen we allllll find your voice soothing. And your giggle is delightful! Stay you!! 😉
Hi - I love your video instructions and I have used 2 skeins of Malabrigo pure merino superwash with approximately 210 yards, 100 grams, 4.5 - 5.5 sts per inch, on 6 mm needles. I just started a new skin (#3) and I have 168 stitches and need to do 62 more rows to be at your suggested 230 stitches across. How many skeins do you think I may need? I have a total of 4.
Thanks for your valuable tips about the width of the shawl. .Of course , that gadget is not available here . I am a beginner I would like you to clear a doubt of mine which I did pose to another pod caster but I failed to get an answer. Sometime as one progresses in the shawl., one runs out of yarn mid way . I always start on my new yarn at the beginning of a row.I usually waste a lot of yarn every time this happens. Can one start a new yarn midway ? Usually that is not advised. Thanks
I'm sorry, but I really can't give you an exact number. You're best bet would be to count how many stitches are in an inch, then figure how many inches long you want it to be, and multiply the two together. Everyone's gauge is different so that's why I can't be more specific. I hope that helps 😊
This is my first time using circular needles; they are 36". The wire seems to be always in the way; right now I am tucking it under my arm. Will this get better with the stitches on it? Do I need to be doing this another way? Thanks!
Just a quick question if you don't mind this starts at the bottom point correct? I'm a beginner knitter ( been crocheting since age 5) I just started this and then realized it has three points but figured that we start at the bottom then the rest just falls in place as we knit along. Also can I double the yarn without affecting the drape for a warmer shawl?? Ty so much for your wonderful tuotorials. I enjoy these so much! I can't wait to learn socks. That's been the whole reason I learned knitting lol beanies and socks. 💜
No problem, yup you begin at the bottom point and increase it to the point where you want the top width to be. Also you can double your yarn, but will need to use bigger needles to maintain the drape.

Yes, I did. 9 times out of 10, I pull from the center and ball it before stitching, that way I know if there are any knots that have to be cut out and dealt with. It's my way of scanning the yarn for any possible defects, I like to err on the side of caution 😊

can you use a size 8 circular needle to make this shawl
Of course, I just like the bigger size because it gives the shawl a looser drape.
Super easy and fast. I used 2 full cAKES AN

can you turn this into a blanket and how do you decrease when you have the length you what
