NobleKnits omg this is the first time I got a reply back thank you!!!! Can u tell me how to get circular knitting needles correct brand or set wise I want to get them right because Michael’s say size 8 but 59 inches so I m super confused beginner knitter
@@nekofiercewarrior20 Hi! I'm glad to help! The circular knitting needles I used are Addi Turbos size US 8. They are not sold at Michaels only at yarn shops and on Amazon. Here's a link to them: amzn.to/2Xp8pzZ I used circular needles because of the large number of stitches towards the end of the project. You can use plastic, bamboo, or metal needles - whichever you prefer. They just should be size US 8. Now, as for the circular needle length, I chose 40" because it's a lot easier to manage than 59 inches. Anything longer than 32 inches will work with this project. You just need to try different lengths and see what you prefer. Keep me posted on your progress and happy knitting! 😀
Hi I have to thank you for this clever pattern which I have knitted and onto my second one. I am part of a charity group in Scotland called Knit for Peace which is UK and beyond. So thank you for your for this lovely easy pattern which is being knitted by others and being passed onto folks in hospitals and nursing homes.
Hi Maureen, It warms my heart that this project is being knitted by you and your charity group. Thank you for sharing it and doing good with the shawls. 🥰
I am a crocheter and wanted to learn to knit. I knitted a few small things but they did not inspire me. Then I found THIS VIDEO last year (Sept 2023), and you said I could do this! I can make this! And for some reason, I believed you. And guess what? I made my first shawl (with many mistakes in it, but that's OK!). I wore it all winter and brought it on a trip to Ireland. I have been knitting almost daily for a year now and have so many projects I want to make! THANK YOU for all the encouragement, and for believing in me.
As a beginner knitter I've recently purchased shawl in a all, with beautiful graded shades, your descriptions are so carefully put together, I'm really looking forward to making my shawl. Thankyou so much for taking us under your wing..I'm in Oxfordshire UK.
I made this and it was great practice for learning to switch the way I held my needles. I would recommend to anyone making this shawl that they use a yarn that only has around 3 different colors in it. I used a yarn with about 7 colors in it and it got a little crazy looking at the end. Thanks for the pattern!
I'm an English knitter. Have just purchased a 200 grm ball of Double knit from "Stylecraft" it looks very similar to the one in your video. I didn't quite catch the needle size you recommended. I have an assortment of circular needles. How many stitches approx will I end up with please?
This video gives me so much hope that I can actually knit this. Have the needles and the yarn, just need the confidence, which you have given me. Thanks to you and to Debbie at the Canadian Crocheter.
Hi Patricia, I have complete confidence that you can do it! Just remember, it took more than a day to learn how to tie your shoelaces as a child and this is a new technique you're learning to master. So, give yourself the time it takes to learn and before you know it, you'll be soaring along without a second thought. Keep me posted on your progress! 😀
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I was about to throw in the towel on knitting my shawl. This is only my second project and this is the easiest shawl pattern that I have found! Thank you so much for this.
Thank you for this! I ripped up a shawl I had been working on and started over with your pattern, because it is so much easier and I think the result will be much nicer.
Hi Jeanna, I'm so glad you've found a use for your shawl-in-a-cake yarns and welcome to the knitting community. It's so nice to be able to do both knitting and crocheting! 😀
Thank you for this beautiful pattern and your straightforward directions. I've only been knitting about 1 year (crocheting for 35 or more!). I am working on this shawl and by following your directions, mine is turning out just right. I'm so excited to wear it!
Hi Christa, I'm so happy to hear about your knitting! I too was a crocheter first and then took up knitting. @@nobleknits Thank you for the suggestion! I discovered that I have been knitting this way just because I had found it easier, and did not know that there was a name for it. I finished my first triangle shawl last night but I did not get to keep it for myself. It was so cozy and pretty that my 2 1/2 year old has now claimed it as her "Cozy, Cozy, Mama Wrap"! Guess I better get started on another one this evening!
OMG, I love you. I have wanted to make a shawl for myself and have been so frustrated. Your video makes me feel so confident that I can do this for myself. I've had that yarn in my stash for 2 yrs. Thank you again.
Thank you so much for sharing this pattern. This is my first knit shawl and after trying a few other patterns I was ready to give up. I'm so glad I found yours! This one is so fun and meditative. 😊

Thanks for this tutorial. I'm a long time crocheter who is learning to knit. Once I found the continental way of knitting, it clicked for me. I'm doing this project so I can get more comfortable with doing increases, and also the pattern makes me look like I'm better than I actually am! Thanks for the clear instructions!
Thank you so much for this tutorial/pattern. I've been making these and sending them to people as a prayer shawl to wo,en who need a little pick me up and let them know they are not alone.
Thanks so much for this tutorial. This is my first triangle shawl ever. I’ve been knitting and crocheting for 7 months. This pattern was perfect for my skill level and the variegated yarn I’m working with. I’m also in a bit of a hurry to finish this project because I’ll be wearing this shawl to a wedding 💒 just a few short weeks from now. I love how quickly the rows have grown. Thanks again 😊!
I’ve put this shawl on my list of items to knit . I love the yarn and how it blends into different shadings. Thank you for making everything so simple and easy to understand. Looking forward to the next video. 😀
I just started mine. I am a slow knitter, but thrilled you have this pattern to share. I had bought yarn last year and couldn’t fine a pattern I was secure enough to try till I saw yours. It’s a linen type yarn and so far it is working. Thanks and enjoy your channel.
Hi Marilyn, I'm so happy you found the pattern and it works with your linen yarn. I bet it will be a beautiful shawl to wear during the spring and summer months! 😀
I am a crocheter who has been looking for my first knit project and I have found it! I just ordered a pair of needles and shawl in a cake yarn. Can’t wait to try this. Thanks so much for this tutorial!
Hi Joanne, I'm so happy to hear you are going to give knitting a try! It starts out slowly at first but as you get the hang of it, you'll pick up speed. I am also a crocheter first, so I want to give you a really helpful tip. Try knitting continental style. The way you hold your needles is very similar to holding a crochet hook and it will make your transition to knitting MUCH easier. Here's a video on it: ua-cam.com/video/852OwkobTPc/v-deo.html Keep me posted on your progress! 😀
Finally a knitting tutorial that I know I can follow. I wanted to learn knitting for a long time, but never found a tutuorial that works for me. Your tutorial is very clear and slow enough to follow and I will be actually making something pretty along the way. Thank you very much for this :o)
I found your video so easy to follow. Since I watched it, I have made 2 shawls. I enjoyed making the first one so much I made another one. In fact, going on a road trip and starting my third. Thanks so much for your really helpful video.
Beginner knitter here. Tried to self teach English style when I was young and conquered knit and purl but found absolutely no pleasure in it. Learned to crochet and wondered why anyone would want to knit. (soooooooo hard!) Honestly though, knitted socks were what I really wanted to do. About a year ago I found Continental knitting. Life changer. I just watched your shawl video twice while working on my very first knitted sock. YAY! (2.25" , 9" circulars. OUch! :-). Great video and so glad it's continental style. Easier for me, no translation. Your shawl is my next project. And....I love the colors you picked. Thanks for taking the time to film.
Hi Chad, the secret is practice! Just like you don't think twice about tying your shoelaces...this will become effortless in time, I promise! Keep me posted on your progress!
LOVE this tutorial! I’m well on my way to making my first ever shawl and I couldn’t be more excited! Thank you for making this easy, accessible, and fun!
Thank you so much for this video, I've learned so much from watching it and you go slow when teaching this. I just started knitting and want to learn the different stitches there are and you made it so easy. I did have trouble learning how to add a stitch but now can do it. I plan on making my first project a shawl. I've seen some videos on here about teaching knitting and some go so fast it's hard to catch up and learn anything but you make your video at the right speed for us beginners to learn. It's a great feeling when a person learns something they thought they could never do and builds up one's confidence that they can do this also, once again thank you so much!
Hi Terry, I'm so glad you discovered me and that you've started knitting. This shawl is a really good project for a beginner and will help you practice garter stitch and eventually get nice even stitches. You may also want to check out my knitting Bootcamps. I think you'd enjoy the Shawl Bootcamp and the 30-Day Growth Course: www.nobleknitsu.com/ You'll learn step-by-step just like in my UA-cam videos.
This has been really helpful! I had no idea I could make more than just hats (and other seam free knitted things) with circular needles. I shall give this a try when I've finished my other projects
Hello, I have been looking for an easy shawl to knit where there is not too many stitches to remember. I was so happy to find your pattern. Thank you so much! 😊
Simply and beautifully spectacular! The design goes so well with the yarn, no to mention, how fast and easy to knit it is! Thank you for your excellent class.
Hi Marta, I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. It works really well with any self-striping yarn! You can use any weight yarn for this shawl, too. Just use the recommended needle size on the yarn label instead of the size I used. 😀
Thank you! I will follow your recommendation. I’m knitting it right now in natural color as a “test drive”, while waiting for the yarn you use to arrive. .”So far so good.” I can report!
Got my yarn and needles and will start today on this lovely shawl. Your videos are very good...so clear and detailed. Thank you for sharing your expertise.
You're welcome, Paula. Enjoy! You may also like this Shawl Bootcamp Course that I teach. You learn to make 5 different shaped shawls using any weight yarn. nobleknits.thinkific.com/courses/how-to-knit-shawls-5-ways
Wow! I really enjoyed this project! Thank you!! - to be honest, I had no idea how many stitches I casted off at the end.. Hahaha!!! The color changes were really fun!!! - I made and added tassels and attached to the corners and gifted to my wife! She loves it!! 👍👍👍
I recently acquired a very long scarf knit with this yarn and the same colour. The scarf was just not me so I ripped it back and made a shawl. It turned out beautifully. I now will be able to enjoy the yarn and the finished product or I could consider regifting it. Thank you for the tutorial.
@@nobleknits you are welcome. The scarf that had been the original use for my yarn was very nice but try as i might i did not feel comfortable wearing it. The new incarnation of the yarn is great and it seems to have been made for this pattern. I am thankful i was able to get it from the person who purchased it and knit the scarf.
I just purchased three scanes of Lion Brand SCARFIE yarn, at the moment I didn't have a project in mind, but I just loved the color combinations. I think this pattern will work up beautifully. I have also been looking for a basic shawl pattern to knit. You are an excellent teacher. This tutorial was beautifully done. Thank you so very much!.
Hi Peg, Oh! I have some Scarfie yarn sitting around here as well. I agree it would be a beautiful choice for this shawl. Since the yarn is a different weight than the yarn I used in the original pattern, use a size US 9 or 10 needle with Scarfie. Also, you won't have as many stitches on the needle when you finish the shawl. 😀
Hi I love my crochet my channel is about crochet and knitting for me is harder to master but I found this video Wow I am knitting !!! It will probably take me months to achieve this shawl but Thank You so much for giving me confidence to pick up my knitting I have so many crochet projects to finish but I am so enjoying trying knitting
This will be my second ever knitted anything, first being a simple dish cloth, plus it’s my first shawl! As an advanced crocheter I have a hard time with knitting as my hands don’t get that I don’t just have one hook! Your video is great and very beginner friendly!
Hi Kim, I'm so excited to hear this is going to be your second project! I have good news - I started as a crocheter first as well. It wasn't until I started knitting holding the needles/yarn Continental style that knitting made sense. It's like crocheting with knitting needles! Here's a video on it:ua-cam.com/video/852OwkobTPc/v-deo.html Let me know how it goes for you! 😀
This pattern always makes a beautiful simple shawl that makes a wonderful gift for any occasion. I have made several. Thank you again. Appreciate you sharing.
Thank you so much for showing the slip knot so clearly! I can see that I will start learning by watching your videos. You are a great teacher, explaining so clearly. Again, thank you so much!
Thank you for this video. I am not a beginner but I was able to use it to knit the scarf I had only envisioned. And learned some new things along the way.
Thank you Nancy We are in lockdown with stay at home directive because of COVID This is relaxing and calming Your instructions are very clear Appreciate that you took the time to make this video
Thank you so much for this! I'm a knitter of 20 plus years and I was looking for a mindless knit. This is perfect! For some reason, the older I get, the more mindless knitting I want lol The yarn does all the work for you! The Shawl in cake is beautiful but I'm making mine out of Noro Kureyon ☺
Hi Jaime, I'm with you on the mindless knitting! I'm so happy to hear you are enjoying the project and Noro Kureyon is an excellent yarn choice - I bet it looks beautiful! 😀
NobleKnits thank you so much for your reply! I'm almost done with it, and yes you are absolutely right.... The Noro is breathtaking! Thank you for another great pattern ☺
Thank you very much for your video. This is exactly what I need. Easy not complicated & beautiful. I shared it with my friends. I am halfway in my knitting & I love it.

Great video. New knitter here. I've recently ripped out my basic sock project 14 or 20 times and just watched your video. I think I'll try your shawl patter first. :-) You made it look easy so.......here goes!
OMG...yes...socks are too much for a new knitter. You need a few successes under your belt before you tackle those. As a new knitter, one of the benefits of knitting a project like this shawl is that you'll learn how to stitches work and what they look like. It makes it A LOT easier to recognize a mistake when you try to tackle a more difficult project. I'm so happy to hear you picked up knitting and I wish you lots of success! 😀
Such an excellent video. I’m almost finished with my first shawl. Easy and I love the slanting stripes. No stitch counting after the cast-on makes it easy to watch TV or a movie or have a conversation while knitting. Thanks so much!
Hi, I tried this pattern but 8 inch needles were to small for me so I used my 9” circular and it worked Great, also used 3 skeins of Red Heart roll with sparkle, 3 strands I can tell you very pleased the way it turned out . Thanks Janet
Thanks for this tutorial. Such an easy pattern! I am working on one for my mom for Christmas. I will say though, this yarn is not easy to work with. It is so tiny and delicate!
Hi Shannon...it is a thin yarn but you just need to pretend it isn't. It's actually much more durable than it feels so just grab the yarn, tell it you're the boss, and keep on knitting.
Hi Sarah, I'm so happy to hear that and I wish you much success with your shawl! I've got another shawl in the works so be sure to subscribe and click on the notification bell so you'll know when it's released. 😀
Wow...what a great pattern and teacher you are...I love your calm and wonderful explanation of exactly how to do this shawl...especially for beginners. Thank you Thank you Thank you.
Hi! I also came by through Debbie's (Canadian Crocheter) channel. This looks like something I can actually do. I think I will check out your beginners tutorials and then try this. I did some scarves years ago when that ruffley ribbon yarn was all the rage and it was easy to learn on because you kind of knit into existing holes in the yarn, so when you were done all these ruffles were the result.
Hi Maria, I'm glad you are here! You are at an advantage being a crocheter first. Check out my tutorial on Continental knitting, you hold your yarn and needles very much the same way you hold crochet. ua-cam.com/video/852OwkobTPc/v-deo.html Keep me posted on your progress! 😀
That's easy for you because the way you handle your needle and yarn reminds me of crocheting so if would be hard for me to learn how to knitt a shawl learning from you it has to be a simpler way thank you have a nice time
This will help! I have a free Learn to Knit course that shows you step-by-step how to knit and hold the needles using a very beginner method: nobleknits.ck.page/cb0f6b75c7
I used this pattern and loved how simple it was! I decided to shake it up and alternate rows of purl and knit because I liked the look better BUT I did end up having to do an increase every row because it started to grow lopsided, and I don't know if it's the yarn I'm using, my gauge, or the purl-knit alternation. Either way, I think my shawl looks great and I'm getting ready to add a crochet border soon! Thanks for the great pattern!
Debbie from the Canadian Crocheter gave you a shout out today, so here we come!!! Lol I, too am a long time crocheter trying to learn to knit. Thank You for helping me dive in😃

Great tutorial! I’m a very new beginner knitter. You make it look so graceful. My hands seem so clumsy.
Hi Chad, the secret is practice! Just like you don't think twice about tying your shoelaces...this will become effortless in time, I promise! Keep me posted on your progress!
Oh you are going to wonder what you found difficult soon Believe me it is only difficult at first In fact I bet you are already going really well
You are a great instructor. I have been wanting to learn this for the past 3 years! 😀
Thank you so much!
You are going to be making so many things! 🤩
Hello, I have been looking for an easy shawl to knit where there is not too many stitches to remember. I was so happy to find your pattern. Thank you so much! 😊
I finished my first one of these last month and I’ve now started a second one for my aunt! I love this pattern, thank you for sharing!
Hi Victoria, I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed the pattern. I'm sure your aunt will love receiving a shawl you made - what a fabulous gift! 😀
Hi Victoria, I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed the pattern. I'm sure your aunt will love receiving a shawl you made - what a fabulous gift! 😀
Love this pattern and yarn. I am starting one now. Thank you
Simply and beautifully spectacular!
@@martatorres2820 Glad to hear it! 🥳
This is my first shawl. I like this pattern so much.
Congratulations on knitting your first shawl, Lindy! It's a pattern you can use again and again! 😀
Sent here by Debbie... She is doing this shawl... I really liked it, so here I am..
Hi Sandy, I'm glad you stopped over! Let me know if you decide to give it a try and keep me posted on your progress! 😀
Hi Ben, You're a keeper. I'm not sure if it's because my husband is also named Ben or if you knit gifts for your wife! 😍I love the tassel idea, too!
I recently acquired a very long scarf knit with this yarn and the same colour. The scarf was just not me so I ripped it back and made a shawl. It turned out beautifully. I now will be able to enjoy the yarn and the finished product or I could consider regifting it. Thank you for the tutorial.
You're welcome, Barbara! I'm so glad to hear it worked out for you. 😀
NobleKnits
Thank you!
Thank you, I have been looking for a pattern like this, very easy, will work with the yarn I have, thank you again.
Hi Helen, I'm so glad to hear you are enjoying the project. Happy knitting!
❤I like how you explain what you are doing and if I forget
What I am doing I come back and look at this again Thank You
Thanks ladies
Scrolling thru comments I found my questions answered
I just made some knitting needles cause I lost the old ones and now I am gonna start. The pattern is so lovely and so easy
Hi Shyamal, Wow! You made some knitting needles - that's impressive! 🤩I'm glad you are enjoying the pattern.
Yeah I started knitting last year but I still haven’t made any thing useful this was my first knitted shawl
What a lovely shawl and so easy will buy some special wool for this
Thank you so much for showing the slip knot so clearly! I can see that I will start learning by watching your videos. You are a great teacher, explaining so clearly. Again, thank you so much!
I am gonna show this to my daughter. I like the way you tutor, you have such a pleasant and calm way of telling these things.. Thank you very much.
Thanks so much for this tutorial!! I've made 5 of these shawls so far and I love how easy they are to make!!
Hi Cindy, I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed this shawl! 😀
Wow fast knitter how many stitches did you increase uoto?
@@Raaadome I didn't really count my stitches at the end. I just held each of them around my shoulders until the length felt right.
Thanks, Debra! I'll keep making more fun and easy to knit project ideas for you! 😀
This is a garter stitch. I opted to make knit-purl combo because of greater ease for me. Thanks for your tutorial.
Oh! Did you knit one row, purl one row or did you knit one stitch, purl one stitch?
This is such a lovely pattern!!! Thank you so much, it's so easy to follow. 10/10 would recommend!!
Thank you for this wonderful, easy tutorial !
My pleasure - I'm glad you enjoyed it! 😀
THANK YOU! Easy to fallow. Going to give this a try.

I really love this pattern it teach me the 4 steps an I start knitting my first shawl .. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for this! I'm a knitter of 20 plus years and I was looking for a mindless knit. This is perfect! For some reason, the older I get, the more mindless knitting I want lol
The yarn does all the work for you!
@@jaimegriesbach6770 You're welcome! 😀
Well done - easy to follow instructions - lovely voice and easy to listen to.
Hi Narelle, Thanks so much - I hope you enjoy knitting this shawl! Keep me posted on your progress 😀
Thank you for this pattern. Most are so difficult to understand. Im making my way through my first one now.
Hi Denise, You are welcome! Have fun with this project and happy knitting. 😀

Thank you very much for your video. This is exactly what I need. Easy not complicated & beautiful. I shared it with my friends. I am halfway in my knitting & I love it.

Love love love this! Watched loads of videos on these, but yours was the best and easiest to follow. Thank you xo
Hi Llama Mama (love that name 🥰), I'm so glad you found the video helpful! 😀🦙
I am off to try this for Christmas gifts for my dearest friends. Thank you.
This is such a beautiful peice. So excited to give it a try!
TQ. I just took up knitting. This looks like a good first project. 🌹❤️
Hi Lina, Welcome to knitting! This is a fabulous first project - keep me posted on your progress. 😀
Thank you for explaining everything so clearly. I’m so happy I came across your videos ❤
Absolutely love this shawl, youtube and your easy to follow instruc. thank you so much
Thank you, Helen! I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed it. 😀
This is the video/tutorial I've been needing to knit my first shawl. Love it! Thanks!

Lovely calm soothing voice..and explanation..thanks
Thanks that was Nice to follow hope for more videos first time knitting. I AM from Puerto Rico.
Hi Maria, I'm so glad you found me! I'll keep more easy beginner patterns coming. 😀
Wow! Thank you for making such a daunting project seem so easy! Can't wait to start this!
Hi Linda, You're welcome! Keep me posted on your progress! 😀
I have trouble reading patterns. So these videos helped me so much.Thank you so much ❤ xxxx
Debbie from the Canadian Crocheter gave you a shout out today, so here we come!!! Lol I, too am a long time crocheter trying to learn to knit. Thank You for helping me dive in😃
Hi Tami, I'm so glad you found me! You are at an advantage being a crocheter first. Check out my tutorial on Continental knitting, you hold your yarn and needles very much the same way you hold crochet. ua-cam.com/video/852OwkobTPc/v-deo.html Keep me posted on your progress! 😀
Thank you for an easy shawl to knit. I'm a beginner.
