Thanks! Your instructions are very clear and easy to understand. I love that we can see you working as you explain what you are doing. Thank you for being so generous!
I really appreciate how slow and thorough your explanations are - it’s very easy to follow each detail. The way you did your increases was new for me and I love the beautiful edge it creates. I cannot wait to try this shawl with a yarn I’ve been wanting to use but couldn’t find a pattern I liked. 🧶💗🙏🏻
Like your calm and informative video. Such a good tutorial and you demonstrate beautifully, showing how relaxing and rewarding knitting can be. Thank you!
This suddenly appeared as if by magic! I had been looking for a pattern like this, without much success. Have saved it and will start it soon. Thankyou so much easy to follow instructions.😁
This depends on your yarn thickness. This is diagonal knitting, there are no decreases, at any moment during the process you’ll have a symmetrical triangle, you knit until the shawl is the right size for you and bind-off.
Thank you so very much! I so appreciate the slow thoughtful repetition and alternate make one's. I look forward to the finished piece. I have tried other patterns but yours has been by far the best to follow and no holes from yarn overs yay!
Thank you soooooo much for this wonderful tutorial! I am a crocheter who is trying to teach myself to knit again for a specific project and I tried about 5 or 6 tutorials before I found this one. Just finished my piece - so grateful!
@@irinarevo I like all knit patterns. I find them very relaxing. I have rheumatoid arthritis, and I find purling uncomfortable. My right wrist is compromised. So all knit patterns are perfect for me 😁!

Thank you. For some reason my mind cannot follow the typical shawl pattern. I don't know why. I've tried several times. But this is such a simple, easy to understand, direct technique. Thank you for sharing this. And I also learned a different bind off technique, and I can also see why my edge stitches has been so loosey goosey. It's because of the way I've been holding my yarn. I've been inadvertently stretching out the edge stitches, and they look terrible. When you make more videos I would suggest that you invite people to speed up the rate of the video if they want. I'm kind of impatient, and at first the video felt too slow. I think it's fine for some people. I wanted to hear what you had to say so I sped up the video to 1.25. It was perfect at that rate for me. It was neither too fast, nor too slow. Oh and the use of the white yarn really makes it very clear, and easy to see what you're doing. Best of luck with your Channel.
@@irinarevo Just following up. I've knitted about a 4-inch triangle. I love it. It makes sense. I can see how it works just by folding it in half. Why didn't anyone tell me about this before? And I've been knitting Continental. I have in the past, but it felt too unnatural. I decided to try it again. If I slow down and don't expect to do it quickly, I can do it. The bonus is stitches that are much more even than when throwing the yarn in the English Style. You're welcome about the feedback, and thank you again.

Hi! I just found you on you tube! Thank younso much for sharing this shawl! I look forward to trying it and have subscribed to your youtube channel also. May God bless and watch over you and I wish you the very best of the new year! Thank you so much for doing this. Very well explained. thank you. But I wonder which side will be the top? I would not like if the sides have a different look 🤔 I like very much the method how you finish the work. It looks much more easy to do than the usual method that I’ve seen so far in every other video. 😊
I am glad you like it! If you need the sides to be identical, then you knit from the central tip up and make symmetrical increases on both sides. The shawl in the video is worked diagonally from a side tip. The increase side is the longest side of the triangle. The two short sides - one is a slip stitch edge, the other - Icelandic bind off. The triangle is symmetrical, but the edges look slightly different.
Glad you liked it! There are no decreases, it’s diagonal knitting. At any time you get a symmetrical triangle. Just stop knitting/increasing when you like the size of your shawl and bind off.
Great tutorial! Can't wait to start knitting it ! Was just wondering if it's possible to size down to use as a head scarf and what can i do to do so? Thank u so much
It’s diagonal knitting, there are only increases - at any moment during the process you will have a symmetrical triangle. Knit until you are happy with the size or run out of yarn, bind off and you are done. Have fun knitting!🧶😀
Hi Irena. I like this technique for the triangle. I want to ask how it can be done with the Moss stitch pattern? Is that possible? Also just to confirm - the wrong side is the with the rows that start with a slip stitch and do not increase? Lastly is it possible to make more of a point and start with 1 or 2 stitches rather than 3? Thank very much for this careful and patient tutorial.
Thank you, Steph! I haven’t tried it with the moss stitch pattern. Garter has a different gauge which is partially why this is a symmetrical triangle. I would swatch. The shawl is double sided, so there isn’t a wrong or right side, only the edge with the increases looks slightly different. Yes, you can totally start with 1 or 2 stitches.
Hello I was looking for a pattern to make a buttoned vest with points at the bottom front, rather than a straight edge. Could I simply stop the increases or would it be better to cast off the triangle portions and attach each to the front panels of the vest? Thank you! Have a lovely day!
Hello Steph! One of the sides is a straight edge, the other one is slanted, so theoretically if you continue without increasing you should get a straight section. I would swatch a small triangle with an added straight section and see if it looks right. Whether to cast it off I think it’s your decision as a designer to decide what looks best. I hope it works for you. Have fun creating!
@Irina Revo Knitting & Crochet Thank you for your replies. I watched the complete video and followed along with some wool yarn. I tried with cotton, but you are so right the cotton is not stretchy and very difficult. I loved how the shape is made and the cool Icelandic bind off. Your presentation and shawl are both very well done!! Thank you very much. Have a wonderful year 2023.
I agree - to me cotton is better to crochet, less worry about the perfect stitches, bias, etc. I am so glad you like the shawl video! Have a wonderful 2023 too!
No worries. No, it’s not the row with the increase at the beginning. It’s the row that started with the slip stitch that you shape the corner at the end of, then turn around and do the bind off.
On the increase side 1-2 or 3 stitches from the edge make a yarn over, in the next row knit that loop. This will become an eyelet as well as an increase - so you would not need to make other increases.
Thank you for sharing. I've been looking for a true triangle shawl. I love it. For the bind off with the crochet hook, are the hook and needle the same size or can you go up a size with the hook to help with the bind off being looser/strechier? Have a wonderful and blessed day. 😊
Thank you! Yes, you can go up with the hook size, as long as the bind off stitches are 1.5 times (or more) bigger than the regular stitches. Or you can pull the edge down while binding off - like I do with my left hand that also holds the edge - to stretch the stitches. Whatever works for you best!
Hi Mia! This is a diagonal knitting. Increases only, no decreases. You knit until you like the size of the shawl, or run out of the yarn, you’ll always have a symmetrical triangle no matter when you stop. Then the last step - Icelandic bind off to finish.
@@irinarevo Hi again! I might be a little behind 🙃 I'm not sure I understand. I followed your recipe but before I found yours, I was told by some other knitters that I will need to begin decreasing when I have little over half of my yarn left, so now I am confused 🙈
In my video I use garter stitch. The mathematics/proportions of the garter stitch pattern are different. Even the swatch at the beginning is already a symmetrical triangle. So if you follow the steps in my video, you’ll have a symmetrical triangle always, no matter when you stop. No need for decreases.
You bind-off when you think that the shawl is big enough, or when you used up most of your yarn (just leave some length of yarn for binding off). Then do one row of bind-off, and you are done.
Thank you, Gayathri! The best way to contact me is in the comments section, like you just have done. I would love to hear about your knitting projects! :)
Thank you! Lang Mille Colori Baby colour #52 - but I only used the pink and purple sections for this shawl. The yarn is very multicoloured - I separated the greens and yellows from the pinks and purples and used the two groups of colours for two different shawls (combined with a solid coloured yarn). The green/yellow stripy combo is actually shown in the video also.
I'm beginner. Easy to follow. I have 20 rows now. But where is the bottom tip of scarf and the wings? Is the bottom tip where I started with 3 cast ons? Thank-you! 😀
The cast on tip is one of the side tips (wing tips). The bottom tip will be at the corner of the straight side (the side without the increases) and the bind off side. The opposite side tip (wing tip) will be at the corner of the increase side and the bind off side. This is a diagonal shawl worked from one side tip to the other. :)
@@irinarevo Thank-you so much for answering my question Irina! I understand now. 😀 I am looking forward to knitting your other triangle scarfs as well. Thx again!😀
There are no decreases - this is a diagonal knitting. Start at the side tip and keep increasing until you run out of the yarn or happy with the size. At any moment you will have a symmetrical triangle.

Hi thank you for the tutorial! One question do you start the bind off after and increase row or the row with the slip stitch? Many thanks
After the row with the slip stitch.
Sorry I’m a newbie 😂 on the row I knit first stitch then increase, knit the rest but on the 3 stitches shape the corner then turn and then bind off?
No worries. No, it’s not the row with the increase at the beginning. It’s the row that started with the slip stitch that you shape the corner at the end of, then turn around and do the bind off.
Made one for my granddaughter, now I will do one for me, but I would like eyelets for the the edge, how to do this?
On the increase side 1-2 or 3 stitches from the edge make a yarn over, in the next row knit that loop. This will become an eyelet as well as an increase - so you would not need to make other increases.

@@irinarevo Oh I think I understand now. Thanks for the help! When should I start binding off? When I have half my amount of yarn left or?
You bind-off when you think that the shawl is big enough, or when you used up most of your yarn (just leave some length of yarn for binding off). Then do one row of bind-off, and you are done.

so pretty! what yarn is used in the pink multicolor shawl? Thank you!
