My Dad used to run a aircraft maintenance business and we had to paint strip planes and man that paintstripper burns like hell ... Another great video 👍🏻👍🏻🚗
Yeah its horrible haha, since I don't have a tap down here I was rinsing my arms with wax and grease remover xD Defs not good for my skin so I'll wear something more appropriate next time haha
just another thought i was watching another rebuild video and at the end the guy put up how much things cost and how long it took him thought u could do the same
Damnnnnn, amazing work Mike. Didn't get to fully appreciate the amount of effort that went into that from the single picture you sent. I didn't even know how they shaved bays until now. Awesome work!!
Looks good mate just take not the body filler may crack when you bolt top hats back in I’m welding all mine and then grinding it back to avoid this will post a video when I get too it
I've seen the cracks happen before in other dattos I've seen. I was going to hope that it wont crack with the use of a strut brace - acting like a big washer to reduce flex and spread the force of the bolts :)
Just wanted to ask what paint you used just after you sanded the body filler, the colour of the paint like dark Grey when wet ND light Grey when dried...
After sanding the filler, I coated the exposed bits of metal with etch primer (dark grey) and then went over the whole area with a couple coats of filler primer (light grey). Going with the etch primer really ensures good adhesion to the bare metal, and the filler primer adds some thickness to the paint so I can sand down the imperfections :)
Thank you :) I use Bondall - Rust Buster. I find it doesn't really work well on deeper rust - just light surface. Also, useless in the sun, so in the shade where its cool
He seguido tus vídeos y debo decir que admiro tu trabajo y me has motivado ha querer restaurar mi viejo Datsun b 310 de 1980 cupé, deseo ver como terminas tu proyecto, saludos desde Guatemala
I am motivated to see your videos and I am filled with desire to continue restoring my datsun, greetings from Guatemala and my best wishes for your project.
My parking spot is one of the cleanest around! Plus I keep my work outside of management hours hahaha I use Bondall Rust Buster, but definitely open to more effective solutions!
@@32Builds hahah thanks for the replies! Good to see you got it painted!! Would love to know what paint stripper you used too you mentioned aircraft? Also looks like you welded up your holes without any backing material etc.. just wondering what kind of settings you’re using on such thin steel
Not many people park close to me, and I've had a chat to most of them :) The dust doesn't actually travel that far! And I always sweep up after myself, if anything the ventilation system and brake dust creates the most dust throughout the levels haha
@@32Builds Keep at it boss . looking forwards to the next videos ... this series is excellent. on later videos as the car starts to look more like it's former glory ; you see your neighbours start to look at the truck . can't to see them when you finally give it a coat of paint .
Dayyum, It was probably half gone too! I do recall seeing a stamp there though. Its already got a compliance plate, so maybe it'll be okay? xD I'm gonna have to play it by ear, its still a whiles away haha
Nah definitely needs to be legible, they cross reference the numbers on the compliance plate with what's on the body, if they can't find them alarm bells will ring. Use a fine brass wire wheel in a drill to carefully strip away the body filler and paint from the numbers but be very careful, use a scriber to scrape out the bottoms of the grooves until they're shiny, feather the edges of where you stripped back with some 320 grit sandpaper, and then give it a very light coating of etch primer in a rattle can. Then make sure that not too many coats of colour go on it and fill them back up.
Looks good Mike!
Cheers Stephen!
Nice 👍 work

Is the floor cleaning part of the juice for the bay shave😅
Hahaha all it needed was a good sweep!

Ciao bel lavoro ,sto eseguendo lo stesso ciclo di sverniciatura su un Fiat 124 sport coupe 1973
Very nice
Just noticed, you're going to have to strip all the body filler and paint from the body numbers stamped in the cowl panel to be able to get it rego'd

Dope
Body corporate actually lets you build in the underground carpark? I get shit for my exhaust 😂👍
To be honest they have bigger things to worry about in my case xD I just make sure to work outside of office hours - out of sight, out of mind :D
Awesome
