Merry Christmas everyone. if You have a pre 1980 vehicle (car, truck, big rig) you’d like to get running or possibly sell within 500 miles of Tucson Arizona email me at travisblades1956@gmail.com. I’m also willing to try a fly n drive if your farther than that. Just a case by case thing. Thanks guys and merry Christmas and God bless.
I'm working in an underground company doing lift stations and manholes I used to drive a 20-something foot International lodestar flatbed with a gas engine I believe it was like a 304 or something don't quite remember but she was a beast. That gas engine and a 10-speed Road Ranger she would run down the highway loaded down with concrete structures and ductile iron. I'd have to say one of the best trucks that I've ever driven. The one you have is newer and bigger but basically the same thing. What a beauty
That’s cool yeah that engine is the same style as this one. They are beasts thanks for the comment !
Another wonderful and entertaining video. Thanks.
Both my uncle and grandpa worked for Corrigan van lines for many yrs
Fix it up. Replace all the brake components. Replace any pumps. Find an old trailer box. Fix that up. Make a camper out of it. I lived in Tucson in from 95 to 06. I lived is several apartments mostly around Northgate area
When doing a compression test make sure you hold the throttle wide open and crank the engine till the gauge stops climbing.
Awesome old united van lines tractor!
Thing's pretty sweet for sitting that long, nice thing about air brakes you don't have brake fluid rotting all the brake components!
I know this video is over a year old now, but it's a good idea to have a ball peen or a big ass wrench in hand when turning over an engine you're pretty sure might have a stuck float.
If it starts to blow gas out the top immediately grab the throttle and open it up to keep it running, and start beating the ever loving shit out of the float housing with whatever tool you have in hand until it stops flooding.
This way you can avoid most carb fires, and possibly something worse than that if it gets out of hand
pretty sure its a 5 speed the red button is high l/low also that lever that said not for parking is a trailer break love your videos dude keep it up
Ah sweet didn’t know that and thank you for watching
19:49. If you have to jiggle it that much, you are just playing with it. 😂😂😂
I revived a 1600 w/ 345v8 in it and drove it 35 miles.. and thanks to Hydra-vac, i did it with basically no brakes lol
Love this channel!!
Awesome truck! Not many Single axle road tractors around, those engines are very hard to kill. a lil tough on parts! Remarkable condition for 225k! Around here in MI you'd be lucky to get a truck like this for under 12k. Lets see a detail on this or more footage!
Nice job
HI THEETRAVISB.. TRAVIS,, GREAT VIDEO!! I GREW UP WITH INTERNATIONAL TRUCKS NEXT DOOR TO OUR HOME IN MASS. THEY FIXED AND SOLD TRUCKS THERE AND THEY HAD A JUNK YARD THERE WE MESSED AROUND THERE AT NIGHT AS KIDS IN THE LATE 60-70S ..OUR FAMILY HAD THESE TRUCKS FOR WORK. AND PICK UPS.. I THOUGHT THAT WAS A BAD CARB. HOPE TO HAVE A VIDEO ON THIS TRUCK PART 2.. THANK'S.. GREAT GAUGES OLD YA!!!
That truck is from Tucson,I worked at Desert IHC when they sold it to City Van Lines, before Horizon bought them.If I remember right,it's a 392 ,a really good and strong engine. Thats a really cool truck.that distributor is a Prestolite if I am not mistaken.
that is one fine truck, I would have that as my daily driver. What a beauty!
This is a real work-horse of tractor and a lot of these saw use as beverage haulers. You bet I'd like to see an update on this rig. Nice find and thanks for sharing.
Merry Christmas and have a happy new year. Enjoy your videos very much I have a 1974 W-100 power wagon but I’m in Nevada little farther than your 500 miles unfortunately enjoy your videos retired US Army, Sergeant, Major Gamsby
Thank you for your service merry Christmas
Thanks for the memory. First "real" job I had was doing preventive maintenance on IH trucks back in the early 80's when I was in high school in Philadelphia. The gas truck the trucking company had also ran on propane.
That is a United Van Lines truck, it was most likely used to move furniture locally.
Merry Christmas everyone.
Great start. Looks like a runner. Sure I would like to see where this truck goes. Thank you for sharing! And have blessed Christmas Season!🎄🎁
well done.
Solid truck nice.
Great job gentlemen. My dad had a 73 international like this with the 304 V8 in it. We put a boom and a winch on it and used it to plant palm trees. Old truck ran good.
Looks like a fun project.
Yeah , go big (rig) Travis , love your videos , no show , just honest wrenchin’
Merry Christmas and greetings from The Netherlands, Andre
Merry Christmas Andre thank you for the feedback.
That is a United Van Lines paint job-used for local moves ..
Cool old truck, great vid!!! 👍👍
That's one nice truck !!!!! 😃😃😃😃
Great Video!, Really love the old Fridge I seen in the last part of the video!
Thank you
Drove one in78 for United Van Lines. Solid old truck.
wow, i like that one, nice old truck
Nice work!
O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 Those old IH Loadstars we’re quite unique. I remember the bakery in my hometown using them. Cool trucks! That hand valve is a trolley valve for the trailer brakes. It is so cool to see these old trucks still running or reviving them is wonderful! Not surprised that the fuel lines were brittle. You could’ve saved some or all of the rear tires, but that’s how it goes. Glad that you got it running again! I shall look for the next video on it. I’m so impressed that the cab was in such good shape, being in Arizona or not. Good stuff! 🥰😎✌️
Make it a car hauler. Ramp truck hauler. I dig it my friend
Brakes and tires as a follow up would be cool. merry Christmas. God bless
Love the video!
Thank you for watching Kyle !
Good job!
Thanks!
Love it
Great video, thanks! Would definitely love to see another one.
Regarding the gear box - seems you missed the shift pattern decal on the dash 😉
Merry Christmas.
Yeah I did miss it it was right in front of me lol and merry Christmas
Small world man. I've been looking into paystars and loadstars to buy and found this lil gem for sale here in Tucson. Then found this video. It now has a chrome bumper, nice, but the stacks are a bit much.
The cubic inches is stamped on the right front side of the engine I think just below the fuel pump. It could be a 345, 392, 404 or I think they made another size bigger but I'm not sure about the number. Maybe a 446. I had a 1974 set up just like that with a 392. Sold it regretted it ever since. Would be interested in that one if its for sale.
Not trying to be a know it all but are the plugs all in the right order as it sounds like its still misfiring... that said, a valve adjustment if its got adjustable rockers. I have seen these with bent push rods and that can cause running issues like bad idle and terrible throttle control. It should have the same firing order as a chevy only counter clockwise as you said. Lots of transformations on these rigs as they went from the 345 and 392 engines. I had a lot of trouble using the holley carb and used the edelbrock and just things came right together for the starting and idle, plus good throttle response... I really would peek under those valve covers tho cause they were commonly known for bent pushrods. Another thing that bugged me on those engines was the oil pressure was almost like a tachometer as it jumped up and down. I loved how much those trucks were capable of doing. Nice cabins and good steering. I always kept a international around for my grunt work... most of my rigs were kenworths
Electronic ignition works with Induktion...so you should put it on Volt mode to check
The lever on the right side of the steering column is to apply the trailer brakes.
Great video - curious why the flame was shooting out of the carburetor
19:30 would have loved to see other side of the truck into the cab!
I would like to see more work done to the truck.
Yeah, 75 was the first year for electronic ignition in most cars and gas trucks
Would be a great candidate for a ls or a 12 valve and maybe put a bed on it or a service box or flatbed
The frame is too short. This one is what it is supposed to be, a 4x2 semi unit.
17:50 all you got to do is tap on it a couple of times it'll loosen up
224,000 miles in 3 years? That is some trucking...
That's a jake brake on the steering wheel to control your load.
That's for the tac
I know it’s way later, but can you do an update on this?
👍
HAPPY HOLIDAY TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY AND YOUR GREAT CARS,, MY SON MAX SAYS HE LIKES THE NEWPORT,, NOW THE CADDY TOO. . GREAT VIDEO'S
Glad he likes them thank You for watchin.
Fire burning
I really wish you could show up and help me get my 1986 Ex-marine military Humvee running and driving but unfortunately I am in South Carolina
Great video! I've got a Fleetstar 2110A that I'm working on getting to run in Brighton, Colorado. Very similar to this truck! 478 engine with the single axle. What is that lever that says "not for parking" on the wheel column? Still trying to figure that out!
The lever is for trailer brakes.
I drove one of these 2110`s, it was a 73 with the 478 CI Engine with a 10 spd Road Ranger, 2 axle Dump truck. 2, 50 gallon Step Tanks, got 3 MPG, but it could really pull. Also had the Butter Fly Hood. Loved driving it. Today we couldn`t afford to feed it.
I love the cab style of the one in the video. really didn`t take too much to get it running for as long as she has sat. Amazing condition for the age.
We also had a 67 with a Detroit Diesel 6V53 Allison Trans. 2 axle Dump, also had the Butter Fly Hood. Air Filter Housing came out the side of the Hood and sat Horizonally in a depression on the fender. The size of a 5 gallon bucket.
Keep up the work on this truck, love to see any later Video`s.
trans might be a 10 speed? that red button should be a splitter. 1-5, go to neutral, pull red button up, go back to 1st, its now 6-10.
Yes your right about the red button. Ended up being a 5 spd
Hall effect sensor (points)
Porcelain gets broken on a spark plug from not using a proper spark plug socket. Or maybe the rubber is missing out of the socket
That thing aint happy. Sure you got the plug wires back on right?
It looks like timing is off, or the spark plug wires are wrong.
Update video please
Nice never start battery lol
horn works?

That cable to the distributor is for rpm, not speedo.
Yep didn’t think of that at the time
What part of AZ are you located? I have some old vehicles and yellow iron you might be interested in.
Tucson Az
Can’t help but enjoy alittle backfire lol
What the heck UA-cam got rid of my bic lighter OG name what a bunch of haters lol
Comment for algorithm
running pistons dry as you did more likely scored the bores will need more work now😠😠😠
Cfta
I don't think your firing order is right.
Where the hell was the international with no door that's rusted up but you save from getting
We’re going to make a video on it soon just got a title
