  • Hey y'all! I'm Dr. Rebecca Smith. I'm a clinical psychologist, and I'm on a mission to help high-achieving women get rid of anxiety, imposter syndrome, and perfectionism. 😎
When you’re trying to fight perfectionism (DO IT GET RID OF IT YOU DONT NEED IT) it can get super hard to figure out all the ways it’s trying to get back in your life. It’s like freaking whack-a-mold out here, people. Right when you think you’re good at not going for the Gold Star 🌟 , the allure of the Perfect Streak ✅ jumps out at you like you’re in a horror movie. Don’t fall for it, girlies.
And FYI, if you're in Louisiana or Virginia and are looking for a therapist, head to my website to book a free 15-min consultation! www.rebeccaaesmithphd.com/con... 💁🏼‍♀️

This is helpful! But how can you differentiate between perfect steak perfectionism vs trying to keep up a routine (like an exercise routine)

LOVE this question!! In my experience the difference is a subjective one -- it's totally ok to keep up a streak if it's (1) in line with your values and (2) not creating any pain or preventing you to live the life you want. Keeping up an exercise streak is great if it's helping you stay motivated! It veers into anxious perfectionism when the thought of breaking your streak spikes your anxiety, or when you feel too anxious to break the streak even though it's impairing your relationships or keeping you from other things that are important to you. The easiest way to check is to poke at it a little -- skip a day and check in with yourself about how that felt.
