- Starting a new page in this Altered Book Art Journal inspired by my little garden friend, the wren :-)
In this page I used:
Distress Inks in Vintage Photo and Rustic Wilderness
Archival Ink (Sepia)
Derwent Inktense watercolour pencil in Bark
Stencil from Ranger by Tim Holtz
Stamp was part of a Visable Image stamp set (The Butterfly Effect)
Various Acrylic Marker pens
Writing done with Tombow Fudenosuke pen
Liquitex Matte Gel
Windsor and Newton white gesso

I am so happy this video popped into my feed. I adore wrens and was so blessed to have them nest on my deck this summer under my bar table. I had placed pillows and soft dog toys under the table to keep them from getting wet in a storm and next thing i knew, the little wrens were bringing leaves and twigs to build their nest. the little male was singing so proudly to bring his mate to this little haven he had created for her and he continued to sing as he guarded his little family. They fledged 3 little wrens who are still hopping around in the bushes by the deck until they are ready to fly away completely. Everything in nature has such a magical way of making the world seem like a better place. I love your little secret garden and your page is very inspiring. I have been meaning to capture my experience similarly. Thank you for sharing your talent and special little wren story. 💕

I used your idea of cutting the edge if the page on a tribute to my older brother who just died. I used a sparrow inspired by the song “His Eye is on the Sparrow” for my starting point. Thank you for sharing your ART. I hope you don’t mind a newbie “scraplifted” your technique as you were also my inspiration.

It’s beautiful, and your video is excellent. There are many elements I adore. We have wrens here. They are loud and opinionated. If one is ticked off, she lets everyone know. Chitter, chitter, tsk,tsk,tsk. Where are you? I couldn’t see a location in your “about” section. I want to share with you the gist of a NOVA television program about the Big Bang. Astronomers have seen the birth of it. Lights we see in the night sky have travelled to get here. Stars we see may no longer be sending light. Anyway, super dense matter exploded outward to create everything in our universe. And, everything that ever was will always be. The smallest bits of your wren came from that bang and will always be of the universe. It’s science! It’s nature! It’s my religion. It gives me great peace. 👵🏻💥
Hi Caroline! I don’t know that I have seen many of your videos but I have found you now!! I just love little birds and certainly music is a perfect backdrop! I loved seeing your garden! Beautiful! I’m hoping to go on holiday and I received a travel watercolor set for Christmas in anticipation of our trip. I probably won’t be able to take ink pads but maybe I’ll prepare some book pages ahead of time with some gesso. Do you think that watercolor would be okay to use on top of the gessoed book page? I am so fortunate to have something so fun to look forward to! Thank you for the delightful video!!🥰
thank you and welcome to my channel! Mixed media really is all about trying things to see how they work! Maybe tear a page out of your book and experiment with the gesso and watercolour and see what happens? The gesso will act as a resist so the water colour won't sink in to the page but how it moves around the page will depend on your water colours so have fun playing an experimenting and be open to what happens 🙂

Did you also do a page that had a red-headed woodpecker and pretty birch tree beside it? I saw it somewhere and I can't seem to find who did it so I can give them credit for it because I used the method but used an owl for my algenol and painted a tree beside him. I hope it was you so I don't lose track of that person who did that and by the way I love your wren. When I was a girl at home my bedroom window was on the same side as the garage and we had a run house there I was woke up each morning with a beautiful little bird

thank you 💜 Every paper and every fine liner is going to be different, so I just experiment, especially using old books, the paper is so different from book to book. Have fun experimenting! 🙂
