- In this weeks video we get invited out to a station in the remote goldfields of W.A. to go over 100 plus years of car wrecks and history.
It's all for sale!
If you see something you would like please email me at automotivekarnage@gmail.com
Was shooting on a farm in WA once and came across a rare one - the remains of a pre-Holden Holden, back when they were body builders for imported chevy vehicles. Not much left, but could tell the doors were wooden :)
Great work dj! That first Ute is a 1946/47 Ford, my grandfather restored one when I was younger and have come to have a real soft spot for that shape. The other Ute is a Hillman minx, also badged as a commer- very rare nowadays especially in Ute form.
The first thing I’d be dragging out is that old series 1 107 Land Rover! Worth good money now.
The one you thought was a chevy I picked as a De soto, just off the top of my head. Good find with more to come.
Great show, people don’t realise we have full time jobs and families. The hours that go into finding them and the legalities. Get caught in the wrong spot out here you get a shot across the bow
Man if you ever need a offsides iam in Perth I will pay my way and work like a demon just for bit of time getting out of Perth for abit great show mate always watch drive safe and take care mate
Great work. That truck motor is not corroded , its been shot with a 303 hens the dents in the firewall. Shot a few myself many years ago.
Hey DJ ,love the content of this video. We are privileged to be able to come along with you and share our knowledge of these relics from times gone bye and the work these vehicles would have done on the property. Thanks for the time you have given to do this for us.
That 1955 Ford ute was built by Ford Australia and all the Customline derived Utes were named “Mainline” not Mainland as you said that’s a brand of cheese this was the first year in Australia with the OHV 272 ci Y block engine from the last of the 239 sidewackers like that previous 46 Ford ute that had one in it, all the mainlines had 272 V8’s no sixes were offered and were replaced when the first coupe utility Ford Falcon was released in 1960 with the XK model if you wanted a larger Ute or pickup from the Falcon you could only get the larger F series trucks from F100 up and they were available a bit later with 240 and 300 ci sixes as well as 292 Y blocks
Mainland is a kiwi brand from the mainland (south island)
Man that landy with the roll cage was mint, looked like a shorty with a trayback? Very uncommon, wish there was more footage of it haha
Try and save the Bedford truck
It's worth saving good bones on it
And the metal back then was thick and strong 💪 😳 🙃
Hope someone gets it and dose a video..nice video clip you made
Very enjoyable 😉 ☺️ 😊
Woot Woot , awesome upload, thanks for sharing that line up of vehicles, dj.
Cheers mate, some beautiful cars out there still.
I like the sound of those FJs. Will be definitely interested
G'day DJ , Priyanka and Natureguy are freinds of mine from another chanel . . I'll bring some more next time from different places around the world 👍 cheers for the show buddy 😀
COLEY brought me here 😁🐥🌎👍
@@MAG3K7 aah g'day mag great to see you here it's a cool channel hey some good content 👍😀
Wow mate, you've found an absolute jackpot! So many goodies nice find!
Ford ute.
Love the channel.👍
The Cars That Ate Paris comes to mind when I see old, abandoned cars out in the middle of nowhere.
My uncles had a cattle station just out side of Charleville (qld) at the "rubbish tip" on the property there was a heap of old wrecks from t model ford's to 1960s ford sedans and wagons and old holdens, I clearly remember a little old Austin that was all complete.
Wish they still owned the property id love to get my hands on some of them old cars now
Awesome video mate. Content is getting better and better. Cheers
Nice work DJ awesome collection of car memorabilia! Look forward to the next episodes👍 Bet those old wrecks could tell some wicked stories if they could talk! Stay safe and well mate cheers 👍😎🇦🇺
Nice work mate, the home made machine reminds me of a mini moke
The tail gate on the Holden Ute might be ok. 👍
Thanks! I'm looking forward to more videos from here. Bugger about the flies, eh
Still a few more gems to come.
Awesome bro
I like the dodge as well
Nice shirt haha cheers mate
Epic find!
7;25 I'd suggest the top of a piston came off, the conrod flopped around and that caused the original damage. Then rust has done the rest.
Good to see a drone being used to help give us perspective 🍻
looks like a really good episode
Man would love to go on a hunt with you I love the auto archeology
Also might need a few bits of that Bedford
Send him a message via gmail
9:32 it is a ford deluxe Ute they came as a flathead v8 from the 40s
I want the kingsy ute. She looks good
Great video, DJ...Liked & subbed 🤘
Good show, could have been longer with some more complete cars added
See ya next weeks. :) BIkes you say???
Interested in the HQ ute taillights surrounds and bumperettes.
Great video,,mate, is the valiant, dodge, ute a ap5,or ap 6,, if you keep this one and it is ap6 ,,V8 K frame will bolt straight ,let me know,if want more info, keep up the good work
Can't really get a good look at it but that homemade buggy looks like it's got an A series engine from a Morris or Mini in it? Heater tap looks a bit odd, but the water pump / fan mount looks right
Forgot to say, like your vids, cheers
G'day mate, I like the new entro, lot less the hoon, your blessed with so many wreck to check out with so little compatision trying to crush and recycle them not restore, keep the hunt going, cheers, Cowboy Neil 🤠.
15:46 that custom thing looks to be a early phase 1 vanguard bc of the trans and the engine witch should be a solex and the front shockers that has had the body in bolted and the frame cut to bits
And the 2 seperate handles is bc I was a Colem shift and it has 2 inputs into the trans and they have hooked levers up directly
Hope this all helped
You been lifting bro?? 💪 looking good 😘
That Commer is a Commer superpoise the Diesel engine is probably a Perkins leopard looks like it has some usable bits
We had a couple of commers 1952 ,1was ex cattle truck that had gone rotten in chassis behind the cab had a hoist next.was a Karrier ,same as just Karrier badge ,flat head 6 super snipe engine ,Dads M8 had a later fifties model with overhead engine ,finally Dad bought a 1949 Commer with the older shape like a Bedford cab ,same flathead ,which I got my Heavy vehicle license in about 1975 ,not bad trucks.but you couldn't push them too hard.or you'd blow head gaskets, I'd never seen 1 with a diesel engine in New Zealand
I think if it has a flat head v8 it must be a Ford, contact Iron trap Garage and talk to them they love anything 20s,30,40,50s
Many shires simply paid a contractor to berry Cars in there Rubbish,s Tip. Mount magnet ,Sandstone and so on.Evan the Wheat belt. I was out there in 1989 .Took lots of photos .
The Ute at 9:40 is a Ford. I would guess 1938? I'm sure that Land Rover stuff would be desirable here in the UK?
Yep.. ford mercury Ute? Extremely rare
G'day I'll be back when the bell rings 😀
So turns out I was right all along, the little British ute is indeed a Hillman Mark IV ute, also known as a Commer Utility.
I can only find one article on the car and according to that article it was "apparently only sold in Australia and only a few hundred made, with about 2-3 driveable ones left in the country."
correct its a commer coupe ute correct only assembled here and only released in aus .i think it was only something like 190 odd made (dont quote me on that though ). the rootes group car club only know of 3 left drivable so i was told when i rang them a few years ago when i got mine , one is fully restored in tassie dark blue the other 2 i think he said were in qld , so mine is 4th in nsw this one in the vid is the 5th i know of
Great video, interesting content.
Awesomes!!
Series 1 Land Rovers - very collectable and Land Rover are even buying them back for total rebuild and resale for very silly money....
This is going to be cool
I think the "Old Chevvy" is actually about a 46 Ford or Mercury.
Yep i agree Ford but a 1947 or 1948 Model Ford by the look of it. 47' 48's had the lil marker lights under the headlights as the earlier Fords had lil square lights up higher on the fender. From what i remember.
At the 10:00 minute mark, that old Chevy ute is a rarity! That is not patchwork, it's a tool box!
That old vehicle you thought was a chevy was a 1947/48 ford . chevy didn't have a flathead v8. Only in line 6 till 1955 chevy 265 V8
No wasn’t a Flower car thing it was a 46 Ford or Ford deluxe coupe utility these were only built in Australia and as a matter of fact the coupe utility was invented by an Australian car designer by the name of Lewis Bandt in the early 1930’s he worked for Ford Australia and Ford Australia always built Utes right up to the end of production the last Falcon ute the FGx in 2016, you are right saying the Chevy ‘s first engine was the 265 ci small block these were not offered in Australia even though we had the 55 Chevy but General Motors -Holden only offered the Blue Flame stove bolts in our 55, 56, 57 and up to the early 60’s when the 283 was offered and in the same year Pontiacs also, I owned a 56 4 Door pillarless Chev Belair 210 that had a 265 with 3 on the tree back in 1970 it was an imported fisher body car but think it was a Canadian build
@@jamesgovett2501 great bit of information . Wasn't 100% about the flower car . But have seen similar cars listed as flower cars . Maybe they were miss informed . I'm no expert on Australian cars by any means. In fact I didn't even know how cool they were till I watched Madmax . And the holden based GTO/ PontiacG8 / Impala police interceptor/ were introduced in the US . Thank you for the information I'm always willing to learn more about any vehicle. I've been involved with cars for years but American cars . Nothing as cool as a Falcon XB or a classic Holden . I've watched videos of power skids/ rolling burn out's you guys know how to have a good time. I think I was born in the wrong country 😆..
That homemade buggy is made out of a 1955 vanguard standard or a Mg tr4
Mate those lands are worth money, series ones parts fetch good money
Any Holdens
There’s a company called Land Rover heaven. They would be a good shout to take all Land Rover parts and cars. Even if it’s just frame and tub etc.
Well all the frames rusted in England and other parts
@@AydanD69 well it doesn't matter where you about in England you live, too close to the coast even in the middle!
@@craigdawson1749 not evan in England but I know they rusted bad up there
14:40 that is a Hillman minx ute
I think it was Len Beadell that used to drive a land rover?
Is that a valiant Ute I see
The flathead v8 ute was a 46 to 48 ford
Brill video DJ …that last thing you showed us sounds cool….hopefully you will help find em good homes….. look forward to your next video pal.. there’s lads over here would give there body parts for old landys what like is the chassis on them…not me there not my thing but each to there own.i get it why we love them here…any idea if that old mate the ground worker that had the landys was he a paddy by any chance…..from what I’m lead to be leave the ozzys never rated land rovers very much, personally I don’t blame them why would anybody want a landrover phishing out oil when you could have a hi lux 🏴👍🤣
Theres werent no 'hi lux-es' in the 50s and 60s when they were opening the country up ... there wasnt even a paved road going across, it was dirt road after norseman. The only thing that was available and could handle rough terrain was the Landy.. the toyota 4wds didnt even come until the 60s when they were doing the snowy mountain hydroelectric scheme
@@shoominati23 ok thanks for the info was it an Irish ground workers that used the land rovers and built the roads do you know..🏴😣
@@shoominati23 I thought Theiss Bros brought Toyota into , Australia late 50s early 60s ,for a earth moving project They were doing ,cannot remember what it was . I believe Theiss Bros then became Australian distributor for Toyota .I may be incorrect if so please pardon Me.
I see a lot of potential, even the Bedford has potential.
Absolutely dude.
I need some Holden parts car wreck
Looks like an old vanguard
Man, I wish we could get utes in the US.
We may of got some cool utes, but boy did you get spoiled for cool coupes.
Think the little ute is a vanguard
I think that's a Commer ute, a pretty rare car
Yes. That is what it is.
G'day mate, great video. That ute you thought might be a Chev looks to me like a 1946 or 1947 Ford???? I could be wrong though? Cheers.
Correct. Ford.
Ford mercury Ute?… very very rare
Re:landrover . Landcruisers are the new kid on the block
What’s a station ? Is that a term for farm or land area ?
A station is a large lease on crown land used for farming. Out here it is typically used for cattle.
@@AutomotiveKarnage ah ok cool
@@AutomotiveKarnage the cattle are fed a delicious choice of sand or sand!
The lessees are called squatters, farmers are called cockies, cow cocky, wheat cocky
or whatever they farm, workers are farmhands, those who walk cattle long distances
are drovers, ringers work horses, jackaroos muster cattle on horses.
its aFord ute 1946-48
That old Ute is a 1946 ford
How come all the cars are so damaged and mutilated
1946 ford 😁😁
We can restore and export all bumpers
$6 to 48 Ford for the ute
I’ll purchase anything ford A model thanks
It's a bunch of scrap metal ! 👈😉
Look i know you want to help the station owners out by selling these cars but help us out by at least telling what state . i'm in wa no point to enquire if your in queensland
Fair enough i only mention it at the end of the video. We are located in the W.A goldfields.
Old Ford chevy didn't have v8s till the 50s
old ford sidevalve v8 around 46 i guess
I’ve heard that the scrappers are going around to properties and offering money for all there old metal…. They’re pulling decent cars out of shed’s and crushing them. 😢😢😢. Can’t resell them, can’t part them out, everything crushed……. 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️. I hope it’s BS. But who knows.
"I'm gonna say it's a Chevy. Beautiful old girl! still got its Flathead V8"
That would be a Ford, my good man. Chevrolet never made a Flathead V8, they made the OHV Straight six.
Haha facepalm moment 🤣. I didnt know chev never made a flathead. The more you know aye.
that car is a ford
1940s
The sun killed them
That looks to me like a Hillman .JK.
commer coupe ute ..but yes hillman platform
Ford iute bud
It's just rusted junk that needs a one way trip to sims metal.
If you are building a 60 year old car, these are like gold
@@vintagetintrader1062 true that like my dad is restoring a vanguard and the small bits are the hardest to find
Flat head v8 but thinks it's a chev
yeah, whoops
the kiwi voice is annoying
Everythink . mate, learn how to pronounce words properly, you are not 5 years old.
Didn’t your mother ever tell you… if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say it at all.
@david husband
Your comment says way more about the type of person YOU are,
than any mispronunciation that DJ might make.
