Surely, somebody has been picking through that unit before you. Or, maybe the original renter came back to grab their good stuff prior to the auction. Why would somebody rent such a large unit (for a large monthly rent) for just a few bags and a couple boxes?
Usually the unit owners get the valuables they can get to depending on how packed the unit is. If they even remember. Storage Facilities have 24-7 surveillance. They can't pick through a unit. What they can do is sell a unit at auction and the buyer goes through it over the course of a day. Then leaves all the remaining items and just loses their deposit. That unit can be auctioned again. Sometimes over and over until it is complete trash. So there are lots of possibilities however there is almost zero chance that the on site staff "picks through" anything. If so, no one would ever find anything right at the front of the unit.
That would be a Manager special. Storage facility takes anything that’s left over in other units that nobody wanted and they put it into a different unit together so they could sell it for some money
I've heard that, but the one issue I see is that storage facility are legally required to print notices of the auction. These notices include the names of those who "owned" the unit... Are they just putting in any old name? Because if they are just taking things out of units to put together in other units, what happens if someone ends up paying up on their unit at the very last minute & then when they go to their unit, see that items have been removed?

That was in the 1990s, don't know if it's still that way. Here they were allowed to scratch their name into their cuffs and keep them after retirement.
If you go to a storage auction where they unlock the locker with the key they've already been in it and went through and got what they wanted if they cut the lock off they haven't been in it I learned that the hard way
I don’t know if anyone has told you but handcuff keys are common to certain brands and are pretty cheap. I’ve worked in private security and investigations for over 30 years and have several sets of handcuffs and basically there are 2 keys that can open practically any set. From what I saw of the keyhole on that set anyone buying them should be able to get a key at any security/police supply shop. Owning handcuffs is not illegal.

per the handcuffs… it really is a lot less of a deal then you think… i bought a pair of handcuffs when i was 14 or 15 at a flea market back in the mid ‘80’s… and not for anything weird, only bc i could. i wouldn’t flinch at the handcuffs in that unit, there was nothing else, lets say, questionable :) in there lol
Handcuffs are more common than you think. These were probably in a drawer then dumped in a bag or box when moving and that locker was big so stuff was obviously taken out. I had friends that owned a few storages facilities and they would take things before selling them but they would see a lot of crap left by customers who just stopped paying. I'm not saying all places do that but I expect most do before selling them.
Lets hope your friends don't get caught doing that then...because removing items from defaulted storage units is illegal in most states... Funny thing is in the UK the law is reversed...default units can have items sold from them but its illegal to auction off the whole unit...

Even if you cannot find the key to the handcuffs, the keys are pretty standard so someone can just buy one. No, I'm not into kinky stuff; I come from 3 generations of police officers. lol
However every unit I bought was worth 10 times or more what I paid! I bid on 3 totes and plastic wrap, lids hid contents, which Ifelt were empty, but I needed storage containers for next locker! However 67lbs plus of pot ended up inside, I wanted to shot it out lol ,but took it home and then transported it to police station! Almost got arrested, the officers surrounded my van with several guns drawn. But I showed my reciept for unit ,time ect. They took it,but let me keep my totes. So many times over past 12 years I think how well life would be with the money. But I'm a law abiding citizen, so no go

Very interesting! My back porch is much more interesting but I don't have handcuffs! 🤣 Please be careful and stay safe! ❤
per the handcuffs… it really is a lot less of a deal then you think… i bought a pair of handcuffs when i was 14 or 15 at a flea market back in the mid ‘80’s… and not for anything weird, only bc i could. i wouldn’t flinch at the handcuffs in that unit, there was nothing else, lets say, questionable :) in there lol
I'm glad to see you have gloves on. You never know what you will find.
I always wear gloves when I'm doing a storage unit or a cleanout. Like you said, never know what could be in there!
I love the sign! My daughters name is Sally!
Any unit that pays for itself is a good unit, right? Thanks for sharing. BTW the Iron Pigs beat the Bulls 7-6 Saturday night, though the Bulls took the series 2-1. I hate to say it but the Bulls deserved to lose Saturday. Pigs outplayed 'em.
Hope it was an enjoyable night at the ball field!
Handcuffs and a padded headboard says it all 😉
🤣
You don’t have to find the key. Most cops carry a key pen that opens them.
Thank you so much for this video. Super helpful and well-presented. Your time and effort is most appreciated!
Hi Renee. You made your money back on those hand cuffs. I hope the key is still in there. All the stuff animal, and Micky too are also good. How ever you price them, you made you money. God Bless you Renee. Have a great day. Maria. 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹👍👍👍👍👍👍😘😘😘😘😘😘😘❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😀😀😀😀😀😀😀👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
A lot sold at the flea market this past weekend, so my $20 has already been made back!
Love you're channel and being watching from the start (Taco Stacks)!!! Plus you are super cute!!! Great score on this one!!! Congratulations!!!
Yes this is a real Coach bag. From the Coach Poppy collection.
Agree this was what they left behind after they went through it and walked away. Double your money though. 💰
Mouse, handcuffs, and jewelry boxes mean you're OK. Always fun to watch. I'm wearing old clothes my neighbor gave me. Tina, Al's wife
Darn, I forgot to pay the final expense bill..I was at Goodwill and I get excited by some of my finds.🎉
My sis kept her unit for 12 years and it had been ripped of by 5 previous owners, she had 5 boxes of designer hand bags, not one was left!
That’s crazy! Was she able to get any monies back for her loss?
That was more than $20 worth of fun! 🤗
Hello Renee. This wasn’t a bad little unit. You’ve made your money back and a profit. These some good things here you can sell the hair dryer parts people buy those. The wipes you can use to clean with . So it’s a winner in my book . Take care. 🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️🥰🥰🫖☕️🫖☕️💯💯💯💯💯
Lots of simple, sellable items in this unit which makes it easy to move out & easy to sell!
Be sure to check the Dolce purse if authentic some can go for good money .
Between the hand cuffs and the pink shoes I think you made out like a bandit lol
My favorite fins are art work I could never afford, and jewelry most is costume but fun to look at
Costume jewelry can be quite valuable, don’t dismiss that…
You could buy a unit with more inside. Have Taco haul for you. But we all know you will have to pack the van instead of him. 😁
I've seen you shopping at the flea market but not set up and selling like Taco.
I only shop at the flea market Taco sells at. The flea market that I sell at, the buyers have requested to not be on camera.
COACH handbag is real. It's the POPPY series!
Wow, thank you! I'm clueless about Coach bags so that is a help!
@@PaperandMoose you are welcome. I sell COACH stuff....some of the knockoffs are hard to tell but that series is not copied.
@@PaperandMoose you are welcome PAM!!! : )
Not the big winner but not too bad either. The trash bags made me nostalgic, lol !
If I can't find trash bags on the street, I'll find them in the storage units!
@@PaperandMoose Better than none hahaha!
Why would you want to pay to store coat hangers lol 😂,
Love your vids
Even if you cannot find the key to the handcuffs, the keys are pretty standard so someone can just buy one. No, I'm not into kinky stuff; I come from 3 generations of police officers. lol
I never knew about the universal key, but now I do :0)
Mostly universal, but not totally.
But I'm a law abiding citizen, so no go
With guns out? What spazzes. Meanwhile you were doing the "right"thing.
