  • The cost of owning and running a 2018 Jaguar F Type R 5.0 V8 across the course of 6 months. In this video I discuss the Running Costs of my Jaguar F Type R 5.0 V8. I talk about F Type Insurance costs, amongst F-Type MPG and fuel economy and much more
The 2018 Jaguar F Type R 5.0 V8 is a stunning sports car that boasts exceptional performance and stylish design. However, owning and operating this beauty involves a considerable amount of costs that need to be considered before making the investment. In this video, we will examine the cost of owning and running a 2018 Jaguar F Type R 5.0 V8 over a period of 6 months.
First and foremost, the cost of purchasing a 2018 Jaguar F Type R 5.0 V8 can vary significantly depending on various factors such as its condition, mileage and location. On average, you can expect to pay anywhere between £40,000 to £70,000 for a used model, while a brand new one will set you back closer to £120,000.
One of the largest expenses of owning a sports car like the 2018 Jaguar F Type R 5.0 V8 is insurance. The cost of insurance can vary based on driving history, age and location, but you could expect to pay anywhere between £1,200 to £2,500 per year for insurance.
Another considerable cost to factor in is fuel. With a 5.0L V8 engine, the 2018 Jaguar F Type R 5.0 V8 is not the most fuel-efficient car, and you should expect to spend around £200 to £450 per month on fuel, depending on your mileage
Regular maintenance and repairs are also critical in keeping your car running smoothly, and you should expect to pay for repairs and services such as oil changes, tire rotations and brake pad replacements.
Additionally, there are also the costs of road tax which can add up to a few hundred pounds per year.
In conclusion, owning and running a 2018 Jaguar F Type R 5.0 V8 can be a pricey affair, but if you're a car enthusiast and appreciate luxury, style and performance, it can be a valuable investment. With proper maintenance and care, your 2018 Jaguar F Type R 5.0 V8 can provide you with many years of driving enjoyment.

    I purchased a new 2023 F Type 450 for MSRP (US dollars $78,000).
It came with 5 year warranty that covers repairs and maintenance so basically no cost to me other than normal wear and tear on tires, brakes etc. Kept my price reasonable and affordable while still getting the awesome looks and performance. Stayed away from extras like dual climate control (cabin is small so standard control works just fine), auto lift gate (easy to open manually), standard seats (very comfortable), and standard wheels that look great. Did get glass roof, upgraded paint and 12 way electric seats and a few other upgrades. Point being, I now have a beautiful F Type at a very reasonable cost with basically no repair/maintenance costs for 5 years. Thanks

Thanks for the facts and figures. I break running my 5.0L XK down into weekly costs so it doesn't seem so bad ;-)
Things like insurance and repairs can vary according to so many factors. In my mid 60's with three years NCD the insurance comes in a £278pa with everything like breakdown recovery and protected NCD included. After three years of ownership I've only had to replace the tyres @£220 and a couple of niggles like the LH back box rubber mount and an anti roll bar drop link - easy DIY jobs. Only have 34k mileage, but it's 12 years old, so due a 120k service (inc. renew drive belts) @£512 from my local JLR dealer. Still, that's less than a tenner a week until next year's service 🙂

Great video, sometimes you have to put logic aside and just indulge yourself!
I have always been tempted by the F Type but couldn't quite do it.Way back in the day (2016) I did indulge myself for a miserly £330 had a 4 day rental with a V6R convertible ,caned it totally and walked away financially unscathed.
All fun and no commitment, but I didn't get the chance to look at it every day, admire those fantastic looks, it is still one of the best looking cars around today.
I now have a new Z4, which looks pretty good, and the tech is way beyond the F Type, but still hanker after the Jag.

I absolutely love it to bits. For a sports car it's really comfy, eats up road bumps without rattling your teeth, plenty quick for me, (especially on the mountain roads near where I live). Side note: My Jag dealer loaned me a rear wheel drive R for a weekend and that thing was scary on my local no guardrail hairpins!

    • @DragonWolf2099
      @DragonWolf2099 Рік тому

@@MrGB_UK I'll start by saying I'm keeping this car forever. The main problem with the car was the cooling system. If you look at yours you will find what they call the cross over pipe. The original pipe is a plastic ABS fused together plugged into a lower pipe below you really can't unless you remove it. As you would suspect this part splits apart over time and fails. The replacement part is one solid part with no seam but the lower part must be replaced as it is not a replacement to the old one. This requires the supercharger to be removed to get this done. This all happened around 60K miles one the car. I only had the car for a week when this happened as the leak was very slight at the time. So I chose to have the my local do the repair but at the same time I also had the water pump, thermostat and all belts replaced at the same time after talking with the guys in the parts department. I asked what parts on the 5.0 are on recall or go out the most. I also had to replace the expansion tank and the return line that goes to it. Also then they removed the supercharger the tech broke the vacuum line running back to the fuel tank but just the short plastic part the rest of it is aluminum but comes as one part the length of the car. In all this cost about $4500 but was worth it as the car has been perfect otherwise. I just did my first oil change 2 weeks ago and that was also very easy but different as there is no dip stick. The 5.0 takes 6.5 liters but I only got 5 liters out so just know you can go as that low and never get a warning light like most cars. Never over fill or you will destroy the motor.

I have owned a 2014 rwd ( I really don’t see why you would want an all wheel drive unless you daily through the winter) for just over 3 year’s (I would not sell this car for love nor money it is simply the most fun you can have with four wheels for a very small amount of money) I do own my own garage so maintenance and insurance are almost nonexistent. I can say that the cat problem with f type r’s is because people feather the throttle to make it pop and bang, this does cause damage to the cats, but that’s obvious if you know what is making all that noise. Absolutely brilliant car, but if you can’t do your own maintenance it will be expensive!

That includes 2 rear tyres, 1 front tyre (all pirelli p zeros, approx £680 for all 3), a new oxygen sensor (£365 at the main dealer) and £192 in the main dealer ripping me off and £110 on an OBD device. And let's not forget the way these cars depreciate. Might make your 6 months running costs look small. Have a look at a new R circa £110k list, can't give them away hence discounted heavily - I know someone who got £30k off a new one out of the showroom (2016) even in today's inflated used car market. circa 18 months old and they go for c. £72k even in a JLR dealership. Why cost things over 6 months? Most people will drive there car all year round.
As far as fuel goes all we want to know is the Mpg, round town and on a run.

I've had the car 6 months, so this was the information that I have to hand. I'd like to do a 12-month review when I get there, also. I'll upload some real-world MPG footage soon, so keep your eyes peeled for that. Thanks for the comment :)

5k miles in 1 year is absolutely amazing. We will have put over 17k in 1 year on ours.

@@MrGB_UK I’m of the mind set that say “Buying a nice car and not driving it is no different than getting a wife and not sleeping with her so it’s in good shape for the next guy”
You got the car to enjoy it so ENJOY IT 👍🏼
