  • In this video, I share with you my recent experienc.e with the 96,000-mile service on my Jaguar F Type and the bill that came with it. I compred quotes from an independant specialist, and the main dealer As a proud owner of a Jaguar F Type, I understand the importance of regular maintenance and servicing to keep it running smoothly and ensure its longevity.
I took my car to a reputable dealership for the 96,000-mile service, which included a thorough inspection of the vehicle's components, fluids, and systems. The service also involved replacing all the filters (cabin (pollen) air and oil), changing the oil, and replacing the final drive (differential) fluid.
I want to emphasize the importance of investing in regular servicing for your car. By doing so, you can prevent more costly repairs down the line and ensure that your car continues to perform at its best.
In this video, I break down the costs of the service and explain what each component of the service entails. I also share my thoughts on the overall value of the service and provide some tips on how you can save money on servicing your car.
If you're a Jaguar F Type owner or simply interested in car maintenance, then this video is for you. Watch as I share my experience and provide valuable insights into what to expect from a 96,000-mile service on a Jaguar F Type. Don't forget to like and subscribe for more automotive content.

What surveys say is nonsense. I pay for competency of work.
I've not always stuck to the BMW main dealer. They didn't even do the basics like greasing the bonnet catch during a service.
The independent place I went to did a much better job. 😊

Great vid, I learned a lot from it, as a potential F-type buyer. And I thought the cost of the major service was actually really reasonable, comparing against some of the bills I’ve had in the past for sub-70K services. Never thought I’d say that! Thank you, much appreciated. Subscribed.

I’m in the same boat. There’s horror stories from non owners online about Jag and Land Rover reliability and cost to maintain. I was expecting him to say $2000 for the service. $700 isn’t bad at all. A 100,000 mile service on my Ford Focus daily comes out to $500

Hi, good video, I had quite an interesting experience using both a main dealer and an indy one. Full service history of 24k over 4 years. Engine went kaput. Towed to main dealer, new engine required, out of warranty, even with a warranty extension, some exclusions, ie oil and general maintenance. £20k for a rebuild from main dealer. Decided to have a second opinion from an indy, had it towed to the garage. Determined that the oil sensor was not working, so didn't indicate any oil loss and an oil leak from the sensor seal. Indy dealer dealt with JLR directly. Long Engine replacement. FOC and 24 month extended warranty. Plus a stamp for servicing on the JLR online data base. Subsequent services at Indy now. Indy chap is a bit more passionate about the motors than the Main Dealer/Stealer. All in all, its a bit of a lottery . Prices are very similar TBH on the servicing quotes.

    • @ChrisFEJackson

For similar pricing, I would go to the JLR dealer, but as you say, local Jag specialists are enthusiastic and love having the F-Types in. My local Jag guy looks after me very well and his garage has a lot of old Jags being worked on too. Family business with old friends working there, it's a nice environment. Recent engine & diff oil change @40K + MOT cost me £300. Oh plus I needed a new front tyre!

    • @peterbates
      @peterbates Рік тому +3

As I said, the indy firm had it replaced for free after JLR agreed it was their responsibility, some goodwill, a Full Dealer Service History and a relatively low mileage helped. No threats, just a lot of tenacity, and I guess the confidence of many years of experience dealing with them.

Surprised how pricey the service was from an Independent. I had the same service in 2022 and it was £650 main dealer or £500 from an independent for 96k miles. I now work for a UK franchise(part time on weekends) and after having a few problems with my engine I am completely against taking it to the dealer because behind the scenes they dont really care, the service advisors will show they care but the technicians not so much unless they are really experienced. I think it varies from dealer to dealer, some are better and your local Jag sounds great for customer service. I'm now in the mindset that i will only go to an independent I trust (In this case E&E services in MK)

I really want one of these but it'll be a few years before I hopefully have a chance. Yours looks amazing. I guessed the service would be about that much but I think it's pretty reasonable considering it's the major service and it's such an expensive car. I'm the same with washing. I'm shocked the software update isn't reversible though, are you sure?
Secondly have you heard about obd port locks of some sort?

That's actually not bad for a dealership service. considering this was mostly preventative maintenance, I wouldn't expect much labor to be billed. In fact the majority of the items you named can be done yourself with a few tools and a suitable work space. I'm personally worry about major services like timing, powertrain, and exhaust system, especially that catalytic converter.

Bought my F type last year after having an XKR previously for 8 years anyway , put my car into the main dealer to have the top hose replaced and other hoses at the same time , and by the way after they inspected the top hose was starting to seep coolant , the car has 30000 miles , also one mirror not folding and a battery test, also, turned out under the pressure test the coolant reservoir had a slight leak so was replaced . The bill £1561 , they charged £180 quid in that bill to fix the non folding mirror

I've just upgraded an F-Type and service history was a repeated question as I spoke to several Jaguar dealerships around the country. So one lesson which may sound obvious don't skip a service and despite the last Jaguar not rectifying an alerted problem ("not part of the serivce" for which I paid £900 +) stick to Jaguar. But I have a choice and will certainly not be going back to the one who must have seen the fault alert on the screen and did nothing about it. Thanks for the informative video.

The GPS system failed needing a complete replacement of the GPS unit stereo and other equipment that uses the CPU. The convertible top broke twice requiring replacement of motors.... the rear spoilers cease to work and required a new motor module.. rotors and brakes needed to be replaced..... standard wear item but this actually was sooner than one would expect... this doesn't include the injector replacement, transmission fluid replacement.. right now the car's been in the shop for over a month with the convertible top not moving at all.... and so far they don't seem to have a revolution as to what the problem is or how to correct what is happening... they proposed to replace the entire folding top unit including Motors wiring harnesses and hall effect switches to the tune of 32,000 which I have declined at this time... other than this love the car😮

@@MrGB_UK Hi, yes. Take off the engine cover and they’re behind the side panels. Not quite that simple though as there’s lots to move out of the way (the two supercharger coolant hoses, the vacuum pipe, the coil pack wiring harness and the coil packs) .
If the supercharger had to come off everyone would change the damn coolant y hose as a matter of general maintenance.

Sounds like the independent called the dealer because they didn't know what they were getting into.

Independent specialist is taking the Pee with those prices ...............its laughable. Every one seems to be trying to have you over on the price of parts and labour.

Huge repair costs & servicing costs come standard with all JLR products. They are all a piece of crap. If you must be stupid enough to own any one of them, make sure its only while its under manufacturers warranty & sell it with 6 months remaining.
